  I have never worked on classic ASP and unfortunately i am supposed to modify an old classisc ASP web site. ASP.Net ViewState does take care of maintaining control's sate automatically. How do i do it in classic ASP ? I have two radio buttons and a text box placed on my ASP page, when user types in something in the text box based on radio button selection we display different search results. Now what i need is to keep the previously selected radio button as checked after the page is postbacked. How do i do that ?

  I have what may be a pretty elementary Hibernate question. Do HQL (and/or Criteria) update queries cause updates to live domain objects? And do they automatically flush now-invalid domain objects from the first-level cache? Example: Player playerReference1 = session.get(Player.class,1); session.createQuery("update players set gold = 100").executeUpdate(); //Question #1 -- does playerReference1.getGold() now return 100? Player playerReference2 = session.get(Player.class,1); //Question #2 -- does playerReference2.getGold() return 100, or is it the same exact object? Should I make a practice of evicting all objects that are affected by an HQL update if there's a chance some code will need it later?

But it doesn't works, I've tried without 'exec', with -X option and a lot more. Any ideas ?

• setting codeigniter mysql datetime column to time() always sets it to 0

  Hi guys. I'm using Codeigniter for a small project, and my model works correctly except for the dates. I have a column defined: created_at datetime not null and my model code includes in its array passed into db-insert: 'created_at' = time() This produces a datetime value of 0000-00-00 00:00:00. When I change it to: 'created_at' = "from_unixtime(" . time() . ")" it still produces the 0 datetime value. What am I doing wrong? How can I set this field to the given unix time? Also, I know mysql sets TIMESTAMP columns automatically for you - I'm not interested in that solution here. So far I can't find a complete example of this on the web.

• Safari/Chrome (Webkit) - Cannot hide iframe vertical scrollbar

  Hello, I have an iframe on www.mydomain.com that points to support.mydomain.com (which is a CNAME to a foreign domain). I automatically resize the height of my iframe so that the frame will not need any scrollbars to display the contained webpage. On Firefox and IE this works great, there is no scrollbar since I use <iframe ... scrolling="no"></iframe>. However, on webkit browsers (Safari and Chrome), the vertical scrollbar persists even when there is sufficient room for the page without the scrollbar (the scrollbar is grayed out). How do I hide the scrollbar for webkit browsers? Thanks, Ken

• Launch external application from C++ program and attach it to visual 2008 debugger while debugging host in WinAPI

  Basically I have Host and Child program. I do not have sources for Child so I can't change anything in it. I want to launch Host from debugger, which at some point should launch Child program. I want to attach Child automatically for debugging session as well (so any breakpoints set in DLL sources loaded under Child process will hit). How to do this in Visual Studio 2008 C++ with standard WinAPI?   I have a script that parses the filenames of TV episodes (show.name.s01e02.avi for example), grabs the episode name (from the www.thetvdb.com API) and automatically renames them into something nicer (Show Name - [01x02].avi) The script works fine, that is until you try and use it on files that have Unicode show-names (something I never really thought about, since all the files I have are English, so mostly pretty-much all fall within [a-zA-Z0-9'\-]) How can I allow the regular expressions to match accented characters and the likes?   Our company uses Quickbooks Online to track our books. When our application bills a customer, it would be nice to have that information recorded automatically in QB rather than logging in to QB Online to fill in the info. Is there a way to accomplish this using Quickbook's APIs? The Intuit developer information is very confusing; it is mainly oriented towards extending the desktop version of Quickbooks or developing apps to publish in Intuit's app store. Have you successfully created a web or other service-side app that was able to pull data to or from QB Online?

  Hi, After writing deployment scripts from within the ISE, we need our CI server to be able to run them automatically, i.e. from the command line or via a batch file. I have notice some significant differences between the following calls: powershell.exe -File Script.ps1 powershell.exe -Command "& '.\Script.ps1'" powershell.exe .\Script.ps1 Some simple examples: When using -File, errors are handled in the exact same way as the ISE. The other two calls seem to ignore the $ErrorActionPreference variable, and do not catch Write-Error in try/catch blocks. When using pSake: The last 2 calls work perfectly Using the ISE or the -File parameter will fail with the following error: The variable '$script:context' cannot be retrieved because it has not been set Could someone help me understand the implications of each syntax, and why they are behaving differently? • JSF - Session Bean restart on logout and login

  Hi, I have a web application with a backing bean which has the context of the current logged in user. It is implemented on JSF. When the user logs out he is forwarded to a login screen (in another JSP page). I would like the current session to be erased when that happens and a new one to be created the next time the user logs in and enters the application. My question is - how do you delete a session? (I guess the new session will be created automatically the next time the user enters the link) This is kinda newb i guess, but I couldn't find a solution for this. Thanks for the Help!

• Question about mysql indexes on low to medium cardinality columns

  I have a general question about the way that database indexing works, particularly in mysql. Let's say I have a table with a million rows with a column "ClientID" that is distributed relatively equally among 30 values. Thus, this column is very low cardinality (30) relative to the primary key (1 million). Now, I understand that you shouldn't create indexes on low cardinality fields. However, in this case, queries are only ever done with one of the 30 clientIDs. Thus, wouldn't creating an index on ClientID be helpful, as the search space is automatically reduced to 1/30th what it normally would be? Or is my understanding of how the index works flawed?   I was thinking about making a little crop/resize batch processor online, and wanted to know if there was a way for me to do the following: upload image and specify dimensions click "process" and app resizes image image downloads automatically to wherever it was I uploaded it (say from my desktop), but with a new name (based on the time for example). This would make it so I could host a free image processor that never stored any data other than tempfiles. Is that possible? Something like Rails' send_file method, but I'm using Sinatra and am looking for something in pure ruby.

• DOM: how to import nodes and give them different namespace prefix

  I'm familiar with the DOMDocument::importNode method for importing a tree of nodes from some other document element. However, what I was wondering is if I can automatically change the namespace prefix on a tree of nodes as I import them, that is, specify a new prefix for all nodes of that namespace. Say the nodes, in their existing document, all have names like "name", "identity", and so on. When importing them into my new document they will be alongside other namespaces, so I'd like them to appear as "nicnames:name", "nicnames:identity" and so on. I'd like to be able to change this prefix programmatically so that in another context I may be able to import them as, for instance, "myprefix:name", "myprefix:identity" depending on the document they're imported into. Can anyone help me understand how to do this? Thanks

• Converting Negative Decimal To String Loses the -

  I'm required to send in a negative myDecimalValue.ToString("C"); The problem is if myDecimalValue is a negative, lets say -39, after conversion I'm getting $39.00 as the string not $39.00. So I'm not sure how to go about this. This is the utility method that takes in the decimal. If the decimal is negative, I want the ToString to show a negative public static BasicAmountType CreateBasicAmount(string amount, CurrencyCodeType currencyType) { BasicAmountType basicAmount = new BasicAmountType { currencyID = currencyType, Value = amount }; return basicAmount; } I could go either way, a C or F2, all I care is about getting that negative sign intothe string if the incoming decimal is negative. I suppose there's no way to do this unless I check for negativity inside my utility method here. I can't just send a negative number and expect the ToString to work and for the ToSTring to automatically see that the decimal is negative incoming?

• Controlling LaTeX column flow

  What I'm trying to do: I have a page that consists of pairs of two sentences each. The pairs are separated by a whole line break. My problem is that when I have an odd number of pairs, the second sentence will automatically be placed on the next column. How can I use LaTeX to make block structures that multicol does not ignore, to keep the two sentences together? If there's better code to solve this problem, or a better column implementation (though I don't believe I can use \twocolumn in the document declaration), please post it.   There is article in here, however I am still in doubt, as some people keep confusing me. Doesn't Spring really support Interface injection at all? So what I want to clarify: setSomething(somethingInterface something); // this IS NOT interface injection, IT IS setter injection? Interface injection is when you just write `implements someExportedModuleInterface' and it configures it automatically? Could you please give an example of how this interface injection is done with Spring 'aware' interfaces? I am writing dissertation and I want to be sure what I am saying is not lie and correct.

• Eclipse - Galileo IDE force save of changed files before build?

  Hi, When I used previous versions of Eclipse (e.g. Ganymede/Europa) if I had edited a file and then attempted a build Eclipse would prompt me to save first. Since I updated to Galileo (Build id: 20090920-1017 & just checked for updates) when I build I'm not prompted to save first. Perhaps the dialog had a checkbox for "don't tell me again" which I mistakenly checked on??? I figure it is just a preference setting some where but I can't seem to find it, search in Preferences for 'save' and for 'build' but did not find it. I tried "Save automatically before build" but that actually did not work for me, and isn't really what I was looking for anyways. Any ideas? thanks. Edit: I'm actually using an Ant script to 'build' (right click on script and Run As...Ant Build). So perhaps my original wording was a bit off base since I did not state how I was building.

• Plone, behaviour of URLs

  The situation is the following: I created a site with Plone, developed, used, but behind a test URL. Now it has to be published, but the test URL is not appropriate and I don't want to move the site. I think, if I use a redirect, it won't be appear in the URL-bar, only in the case of site start page. Am I wrong? (The test URL should not be used, because it will be a "semi-official" site.) What do you suggest to do? As far as I can see Plone uses absolute URLs everywhere. I can add relative URLs, but if I create a new page, a new event, etc., then they have absolute URLs on other automatically generated inner pages. Is there any way to convert these URLs to relative paths? Is there any setting possibilty where only a checkbox changes this default setting?

  I just discovered Erubis, a replacement for the default view renderer for Ruby on Rails. However, from what I can tell from reading about it, it's superior across the board. It is much faster. It has many more options. It can prevent cross site scripting without having to use h. Does this have any disadvantages versus the standard erb renderer? Why isn't this the standard renderer packaged with Rails? Also, the docs for Erubis say to install it just by installing the gem, and then add the following to environment.rb: require 'erubis/helpers/rails_helper' #Erubis::Helpers::RailsHelper.engine_class = Erubis::Eruby # or Erubis::FastEruby Reading the docs, FastEruby seems to be just a faster renderer than Eruby. Why wouldn't it be default and used by everyone? I'm highly interested in using the engine erubis::EscapedEruby which automatically calls h to escape html on fields from the database. Are there any gotchas I should be aware of or does this pretty much solve all cross site scripting?

  I have used the 2to3 utility to convert code from the command line. What I would like to do is run it basically as a unittest. Even if it tests the file rather than parts(funtions, methods...) as would be normal for a unittest. It does not need to be a unittest and I don't what to automatically convert the files I just want to monitor the py3 compliance of files in a unittest like manor. I can't seem to find any documentation or examples for this. An example and/or documentation would be great. Thanks

• Getting "select permission denied" when using LINQ but my account is a sysadmin

  I have a console app that's geared to be automatically ran as a Scheduled Task. I use LINQ to SQL to pull some data out of the database, format it into a CSV and email it to a client. All of a sudden I am getting the error "SELECT permission denied for table", but the account I'm using to connect to the database (specified in my app.config file) has the "sysadmin" server role (bad programmer, I know; I'll get around to changing it to a better account later but I want to make sure it works first). I can connect directly to the SQL database using that very same account and query the table in question without a problem, it only seems to be when using the LINQ code. Any idea what would be causing this?

• Kohana v3, escape illegal characters?

  Quick question, does Kohana (version 3) automatically escape data that is passed into ORM::factory..... (and everywhere else that has to do with the database)? For example: $thread = ORM::factory('thread', $this->request->param('id')); Would the data passed in the second argument be auto-escaped before it goes in the SQL query or do I have to manually do it? Probably a stupid question and it's better to be safe than sorry, but yeah... I usually do manually escape the data, but I want to know if Kohana does this for me? Thanks

  Hi all, I'm trying to post something to an HTTPS resource, but it seems it doesn't work. My code look something like this: require 'httparty' class MyClass include HTTParty base_uri "https://mydomain.com:8085/search" basic_auth 'admin', 'changeme' format :xml def mymethod self.class.post('/job', :query => {:search => "*"}) end end As you can see, I've defined an URI with 'https' included, so it should set the use_ssl property for the Net::HTTPS library automatically. For some reason, Net::HTTP is requested, and I never get in touch with the server, so I end up with an EOF. Any clues?
