The title is a bit misleading... what I want to do is a little complicated: I want to set up my server (running Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop) to send email using PHP's mail() function. I tried just using it, but the messages don't go anywhere and the return value of mail() is not FALSE, so I really don't know what's going on. Any advice/ideas for configuring this?

(Kind of a recursive "effective permissions") However, other permissions would be cool as well. Is there a way that I can tell grep not to trigger a match for a file unless it contains other data? For instance, can I tell it not to trigger an alert on a regex for a SSN unless the file includes text like "ssn" or "social security number"?

How can I make a single SSL certificate for all sub domains within .example.com? P.S. Here is the extension part of the generated certificate: X509v3 extensions: X509v3 Basic Constraints: CA:FALSE X509v3 Key Usage: Digital Signature, Non Repudiation, Key Encipherment X509v3 Subject Alternative Name: DNS:*.example.com It's simply not matched by any sub-domain under example.com by the browser.

I am in charge of a large number of Windows servers. Recently, many have been reporting hard drive errors with event codes 11 and 55. CHKDSK indicates that the drives are fine most of the time. What other diagnostic tools could I use to more accurately detect hard drive failures? Could these Windows events be false positives? I have already evaluated S.M.A.R.T., and it seems to have significant sensitivity and specificity issues.

How to prevent MediaWiki removing non default signatures?

We recently upgraded MediaWiki from 1.13.2 to 1.15.4. One of the side effects is that people's signatures are automatically deleted. That is, a signature added under MY PREFERENCES gets changed to match the Real Name field after a couple of minutes. We set $wgCleanSignatures = false in LocalSettings.php but this does not change the behaviour. Does anyone know what is going on and how to prevent this?

I have a TeX file, which is typeset by XeLaTeX. The file has \includegraphics{coverimage.eps} on the first page, and coverimage.eps is located in the same directory as the TeX file. OS: MacOS 10.6.5, TextMate 1.5.10, xelatex 3.1415926-2.2-0.9997.4 (TeX Live 2010) If I run xelatex doc.tex in console, file compiles without errors, and eps file is included. Galaxy Tab 3 producing continuous LightSensor error in LogCat

I am using a Galaxy Tab 3 as a test device for writing an android app. As such I'm interested in the output of the LogCat which is being filled with these error level messages. The device itself appears to work correctly, apps which rely on the light sensor correctly respond to it and the number in the error itself goes down if the light sensor is obscured. If I wasn't using it to develop apps I wouldn't even be aware of the issue but I believe it is an issue with the device itself not my app: simply plugging the tab 3 into the computer and using Eclipse - ADT to look at the LogCat without any app running leads to these errors being shown. I know I could filter the LogCat to ignore these errors but inconvenience aside; they concern me. A sample of the log cat is below (it generates errors continuously). This is on verbose so it includes some debug level (D/) messages as well as the error level messages (E/). how do I stop excel from adding double quotes to my formula

this works: {=MEDIAN((Table1[MonthFinish]=201012)*(Table1[Days]))} but if I put 201012 into cell A3, this doesn't done work: {=MEDIAN((Table1[MonthFinish]=A3)*(Table1[Days]))} when i do Evaluate Formula on the 2nd one...I see that there are double quotes about the 201012 that was pulled from A3...like so: {=MEDIAN((Table1[MonthFinish]="201012")*(Table1[Days]))} and as such, all the 201012s pulled from the MonthFinsh row come back as FALSE when compared to "201012" (ie, 201012="201012" ) where as they come back as TRUE when I hard code 201012 as it shows up as 201012=201012. how do i get even to not put those quotes around the number?

VMware guest eats 100% cpu

I have a Windows 7 x64 guest that acts very strange - the VM is very slow and taskmgr will consume 50% (with 2 cores) or up to 99% (single) of the CPU when everything else is idle. Host is Windows 7 x64 with VMware Workstation 7.0.1 VMware tools are installed the same VM, when running on another PC with VMware Server 2.0 will work OK (CPU at ~0% when idle) I've tried (with no effects) enabled/disabled 3d selected 1 or 2 cores adjusted memory (1gb/500mb) adjusted the bios mem.hotadd = "FALSE" disabled page trimming Windows 7 x86 guests on the same machine do not have this problem.

Android Actionbar Tabs + Fragments + Service

So, I have 3 problems with my code: 1) I want that each tab saves its state. So that a TextView shows changed text if it was changed. 2) if I go to Tab2 then to Tab1 I can't see the content of the fragments. Only if I touch on the already selected tab, it shows me the content 3) I can't correctly connect/bind and unbind service to Fragment Text must be changed from Service. c# Truncate HTML safely for article summary

Hi All, Does anyone have a c# variation of this? This is so I can take some html and display it without breaking as a summary lead in to an article? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1193500/php-truncate-html-ignoring-tags Save me from reinventing the wheel! Thank you very much ---------- edit ------------------ Sorry, new here, and your right, should have phrased the question better, heres a bit more info I wish to take a html string and truncate it to a set number of words (or even char length) so I can then show the start of it as a summary (which then leads to the main article). I wish to preserve the html so I can show the links etc in preview. The main issue I have to solve is the fact that we may well end up with unclosed html tags if we truncate in the middle of 1 or more tags! The idea I have for solution is to a) truncate the html to N words (words better but chars ok) first (be sure not to stop in the middle of a tag and truncate a require attribute) b) work through the opened html tags in this truncated string (maybe stick them on stack as I go?) c) then work through the closing tags and ensure they match the ones on stack as I pop them off? d) if any open tags left on stack after this, then write them to end of truncated string and html should be good to go!!!! -- edit 12112009 Here is what I have bumbled together so far as a unittest file in VS2008, this 'may' help someone in future My hack attempts based on Jan code are at top for char version + word version (DISCLAIMER: this is dirty rough code!! on my part) I assume working with 'well-formed' HTML in all cases (but not necessarily a full document with a root node as per XML version) Abels XML version is at bottom, but not yet got round to fully getting tests to run on this yet (plus need to understand the code) ... I'm using JDBC to connect my program to a MySQL database. I already put the port number and yes, my database have permission to access.
