• Android Google Analytics dispatch interval

- by Bear
In the document, it mentions that we can have a dispatch interval such that page view will be automatically dispatched after x seconds. I have the code like the following tracker.startNewSession("UA-YOUR-ACCOUNT-HERE", 20, this); I sure trackPageView() is called as I can see those pageview are stored into "google_analytics.db" which is the database that google analyitcs used to store non-dispatching pageview. However, it doesn't send to Google Analytics after 20 seconds In log, it keeps reporting scheduling next dispatch when I call trackPageView().

• How to create "floating TextViews" in Android?

- by Sotapanna
Hi stackies, I'm programmatically putting various TextViews into a LinearLayout with a horizontal orientation. After 2h of research I couldn't find out how to tell Android not to squeeze all the TextViews in one line but instead to "float" non-fitting TextViews into the next line. I know there isn't something like actual "lines" in a LinearLayout, but how can I tell the TextViews to actually behave like floating DIVs from the HTML world? Thanks alot! Be well S.

• Setting PATH in Makefile run by eclipse

- by Chris Jefferson
I have a Makefile which runs fine from a bash shell, but fails to run from Eclipse. This is because the path I am setting in my .bash_profile is not getting used. What is the best way of making this happen? Is there somewhere else I could put the path, to make sure it is invoked in non-interactive shells (which is I assume how eclipse is running make)?

• Static member variable containing object instances

- by tom
I have the following: function Preferences() { } Preferences.players = { 'player1': new Player() } players is a static member variable of Preferences and I'm trying to make it an object containing an instance of a Player. However, it doesn't appear to let me do this. It seems like it will allow me to define players if I make it a non-static member variable however. Like so: function Preferences() { var players = { 'player1' : new Player() } } Is it possible to create a static member variable containing instances of an object in JS?

• Is it possible to put an 8000 series socket-F Opteron into a dual-socket motherboard?

- by René Kåbis
Exactly what it says on the Tin. I have a dual-socket, socket-F motherboard in which I am looking to put two high-end quad-core Opterons, but the 2000 series are nearly double the price of the 8000 series on eBay. Can I just drop in a pair of 8000 series processors and be done with it, or are there processor-critical motherboard features that would be present on a quad(+)-socket motherboard that don’t exist on a dual-socket motherboard? Please elaborate or link to resources that can explain this further, as I am not adverse to research (and I am interested in the technical issues involved) I am probably using the wrong search terms, as Google failed to return anything within the first few dozen results.

• Complex MySQL table select/join with pre-condition

- by Howard
Hello, I have the schema below CREATE TABLE `vocabulary` ( `vid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `name` varchar(255), PRIMARY KEY vid (`vid`) ); CREATE TABLE `term` ( `tid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `vid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', `name` varchar(255), PRIMARY KEY tid (`tid`) ); CREATE TABLE `article` ( `aid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, `body` text, PRIMARY KEY aid (`aid`) ); CREATE TABLE `article_index` ( `nid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', `tid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL default '0' ) INSERT INTO `vocabulary` values (1, 'vocabulary 1'); INSERT INTO `vocabulary` values (2, 'vocabulary 2'); INSERT INTO `term` values (1, 1, 'term v1 t1'); INSERT INTO `term` values (2, 1, 'term v1 t2 '); INSERT INTO `term` values (3, 2, 'term v2 t3'); INSERT INTO `term` values (4, 2, 'term v2 t4'); INSERT INTO `term` values (5, 2, 'term v2 t5'); INSERT INTO `article` values (1, ""); INSERT INTO `article` values (2, ""); INSERT INTO `article` values (3, ""); INSERT INTO `article` values (4, ""); INSERT INTO `article` values (5, ""); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (1, 1); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (1, 3); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (2, 2); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (3, 1); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (3, 3); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (4, 3); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (5, 3); INSERT INTO `article_index` values (5, 4); Example. Select term of a defiend vocabulary (with non-zero article index), e.g. vid=2 select a.tid, count(*) as article_count from term t JOIN article_index a ON t.tid = a.tid where t.vid = 2 group by t.tid; +-----+---------------+ | tid | article_count | +-----+---------------+ | 3 | 4 | | 4 | 1 | +-----+------------ Question: Select terms a. of a defiend vocabulary (with non-zero article index, e.g. vid=1 = term {1,2}) b. given that those terms are linked with articles which are linked with terms under vid=2, e.g. = {1}, term with tid=2 is excluded since no linkage to terms under vid=2 SQL: Any idea? • Looking for a simple CMS with WYSIWYG and image gallery

- by abeger
I'm building a new site that consists entirely of: 8-10 pages of static content that rarely changes (like once every few months or once every year) An image gallery Since I don't plan to be the primary maintainer of the site, I'd like to use a CMS with some security and a WYSIWYG editor so non-web-savvy people can tweak the site when necessary. I started out using Drupal, but started wondering if it was overkill. So, two questions: 1) is it overkill? 2) What CMS would you recommend for a project this simple?

• We want to setup low cost private cloud [closed]

- by Virtual Jasper
We are a small company with very limit funds. In order to improve our server reliability, we are studying to migrate to CLOUD. We seen some CLOUD provider, they would charge by resources such as, CPU, RAM.....Disk space....High Availability....etc. We have server team, so we also consider to built the private CLOUD, we seen the Windows 8 server, it does need license fee. So we looking at Linux side, we look at Ubuntu and OpenStack. What is the different between Ubuntu and OpenStack solutions? Is it both free on software license? and only to pay the technical support.

• Android Device Management

- by Jon Hopkins
I'm looking at the possibility of using Android as a secure corporate mobile platform. One of the pre-requisites for this will be a way of managing multiple devices, security policies, software deployment, that sort of thing - essentially the things the BlackBerry Enterprise Server handles for BlackBerry or MDM (or something 3rd party like SOTI) handles for Windows Mobile. Does such a thing exist for Android? It's a platform we're interested in but without this right now (and we're not in a position to build it ourselves) it's a non-starter.

• Mixing C and C++, raw pointers and (boost) shared pointers

- by oompahloompah
I am working in C++ with some legacy C code. I have a data structure that (during initialisation), makes a copy of the structure pointed to a ptr passed to its initialisation pointer. Here is a simplification of what I am trying to do - hopefully, no important detail has been lost in the
/* C code */ typedef struct MyData { double * elems; unsigned int len; }; int NEW_mydata(MyData* data, unsigned int len) { // no error checking data->elems = (double *)calloc(len, sizeof(double)); return 0; } typedef struct Foo { MyData data data_; }; void InitFoo(Foo * foo, const MyData * the_data) { //alloc mem etc ... then assign the STRUCTURE foo.data_ = *thedata ; } C++ code ------------- typedef boost::shared_ptr<MyData> MyDataPtr; typedef std::map<std::string, MyDataPtr> Datamap; class FooWrapper { public: FooWrapper(const std::string& key) { MyDataPtr mdp = dmap[key]; InitFoo(&m_foo, const_cast<MyData*>((*mdp.get()))); } ~FooWrapper(); double get_element(unsigned int index ) const { return m_foo.elems[index]; } private: // non copyable, non-assignable FooWrapper(const FooWrapper&); FooWrapper& operator= (const FooWrapper&); Foo m_foo; }; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { MyData data1, data2; Datamap dmap; NEW_mydata(&data1, 10); data1->elems[0] = static_cast<double>(22/7); NEW_mydata(&data2, 42); data2->elems[0] = static_cast<double>(13/21); boost::shared_ptr d1(&data1), d2(&data2); dmap["data1"] = d1; dmap["data2"] = d2; FooWrapper fw("data1"); //expect 22/7, get something else (random number?) double ret fw.get_element(0); } Essentially, what I want to know is this: Is there any reason why the data retrieved from the map is different from the one stored in the map?

• Capture Video of Android's Screen

- by Taranfx
Forget screenshots, is it posible to capture a video of the running application in android? Rooted or non-rooted, I don't care, I want atleast 15fps. Update: I don't want any external hardware. The intent is to make it perfectly portable and every frame is captured within Android OS. If it crosses the boundaries of the app sdk, I'm willing to go to OS level modifications but I would need a starting point.

• How to implement table-per-concrete-type using entity framework

- by SDReyes
Hello Guys! I'm mapping a set of tables that share a common set of fields: So as you can see I'm using a table-per-concrete-type strategy to map the inheritance. But... I have not could to relate them to an abstract type containing these common properties. It's possible to do it using EF? BONUS: The only non documented Entity Data Model Mapping Scenario is Table-per-concrete-type inheritance http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc716779.aspx : P

• Could 11.5 Million 401's be causing bottlenecks?

- by roviuser
I'm going to preface this with a warning: My knowledge about servers and networking is VERY limited, and if you provide me with technical answers, I probably won't understand much until I research your answer further. I'm trying to expand my knowledge and learn about it, though. If the information that I am able to provide in this question is insufficient to answer the question, I understand, and it can be closed. We have a SharePoint 2007 system that is extremely slow, mostly from huge amounts of use. We've been told that the main speed bottleneck is the access to the sql databases. However, they do provide a statistics dashboard, so I did some poking around, and noticed that we have 11.5 million or more 401 - access denied errors every month. Could this be causing major speed/performance decreases? Authentication for sharepoint uses active directory.

• Javascript regex: remove space(s) if not surrounded by a letter

- by user326433
I'm trying to clean some html text with javascript, there are white spaces included before and after some words (text is poorly formatted). Currently I have this regex: $("#" + target + " *").replaceText(/([\S][ְ-ׄ]*)/gi, '$1'); This will capture all the non white-space characters and wrap them in a span element, but will not capture spaces between words (I need the span). How would you solve this?

• How to remove compiler flag when building Boost

- by mlo
I need to build Boost with a non-standard set of flags (due to a conflict between Boost threading and C++/CLI). I'm adding the required flag (/clr) using CXXFLAGS, but this flag conflicts with the Boost default /EHs flag (/clr implies /EHa which is incompatible with /EHs), so that needs to be suppressed. Is there a mechanism like CXXFLAGS to suppress a default Boost flag or must I edit all of the compiler specification files by hand?

• Need hosting (e-mail, http) for external domains

- by disappointed
This may not be the right place, but since it is a more technical aspect of the hosting world, I am taking the liberty to ask: I'm currently running a virtual server with nginx and postfix for web and e-mail, but I can't handle the administration and, due to frequent problems with e-mail services, I need to resolve this with a almost-standard hosting package (anything should work, even 5 MB static files would be OK). The exception being that I would like to use several domains, hosted with different registrars, for web and e-mail. Currently, this is a very simple configuration in my setup. All hosters I have looked at seem to think this a costly business (more than domain registration costs), but of course the recommend to transfer domains to them (they want the $$). Does anyone know of a hosting company that allows its customers to freely manage domains registered somewhere else?

• How is management of requirements for embedded software different from business applications ?

- by Chakra
For business software we usually document the business flow and functional and non functional specs as SRS, Use cases or user stories. One of the critical requirements is UI design which may get prototyped. How do people in the real world document and manage requirements for embedded software for automobile systems ? How are they different from the business applications in terms of requirements management ? Thanks, Chak.

Hi everyone, I make bigger inserts consisting of a couple of thousand rows in my current web app and I would like to make sure that no one can do anything but read the table, until the inserts have been done. What is the best way to do this while keeping the read availability open for normal, non-admin users? Thanks!

• cloud hosting with only root partition

- by user123198
We are starting a website possibly with couple of thousands hits every day and few thousands registered users. By our hosting provider we were adviced to go with cloud hosting which we can easily expand later if we need. It is Ubuntu 11 running in WM. The problem we run into is the disk is divided only in root and swap partition which is not advised from security point of view. When consulting this with technical support we got the reply that it is not possible to make more partitions and that it is mainly issue with windows server and linux is generally fine. I'm looking here for an advice if we should switch the hosting for perhaps dedicated server where we have the full control or it is something not too be worried about too much.
