• Cross-submission robots.txt for multiple domains on single host

  We are running a site with multiple languages hosted in a single environment on IIS7. For example, oursite.com - english oursite.de - german oursite.es - spanish This is a single-host environment. All of these sites are in the same application space on the same physical machine. I need to do cross-submission of sitemaps via robots.txt. Looking at the sitemap.org guidelines for this suggest this is possible, but the example indicates different physical machines. Will the following entries in oursite.com/robots.txt work? http://www.oursite.com/sitemap-oursite-de.xml http://www.oursite.com/sitemap-oursite-es.xml

• Mac Homebrew and Wireshark

  I've installed Wireshark(.org) using Homebrew. brew install wireshark at the end the script says ==> ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/Cellar/wireshark/1.2.7 --disable-dependency-tracking --disable-wireshark ==> make ==> make install ==> Caveats We don't build the X11 enabled GUI by default ==> Summary /usr/local/Cellar/wireshark/1.2.7: 167 files, 50M, built in 5.4 minutes I'm not able to find the 'wireshark' GUI.   Mozilla says that with Firefox Sync if you are working on one computer with 5 tabs open you can then switch to another computer or device and Sync can or will update the second computer with those tabs. How do I do this? BACKGROUND I have setup Firefox Sync on both devices and they have been synced. How do you sync them again? Is it automatically syncing them in the background? How often? How do you sync the tabs? Are the passwords synced? Documentation The documentation below describes how to add another device or computer to Sync. It says that when you add the device it syncs it. • TrueCrypt: Open volume without mounting

  I have a corrupt TrueCrypt volume. When I try to mount it, the password is fine but I get an error: hdiutil attach failed no mountable file systems. I just need to open it without TrueCrypt trying to mount it too, so I can use that partition in a data recovery program. Also it's just an image file volume. I have read the documentation here: http://www.truecrypt.org/docs/?s=command-line-usage But I can't figure out which switch I need to use to only open an image and not mount it. I am using the Mac version, and I have set up an alias for the TrueCrypt shell command, so I can just type: truecrypt -t -v - ?? [][]..

• slow network in centos5 VM with centos5 host running KVM

  I setup KVM following the guide here: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/centos-rhel-linux-kvm-virtulization-tutorial/ I setup a bridged network and it worked fine except that the transfer speed is 200KB/s instead of the gigabit speed that I get on the host machine by itself. I tried editing the guest network settings to set "model=virtio" http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Virtio but this just moves ifconfig-eth0 to ifconfig-eth0.bak in the VM and networking doesn't work at all. I tried moving ifconfig-eth0 back and starting up eth0, which works, but now the transfer speed is ~ 60KB/s I have no idea what else to try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

• Ubuntu whois package and request limits

  I'm writing a django app with a form that accepts an IP and does a whois lookup on the discovered domain names. I've found the Ubuntu package whois which I plan to call from a python subprocess, and read the stdout into a StringIO, then parse for things like Registrar, Name Servers, etc. My question is, it seems that there are many paid whois services, which means that there must be a reason why people don't just use this Ubuntu package. I'm wondering if there's a request limit on the number of requests from a single IP to the package's whois server? I will probably be making 250 domain lookups per IP or maybe more. Also, I've found that some domains aren't searchable: qmul.ac.uk is searchable kat.ph is not searchable ahram.org.eg is not searchable Any particular reason for that?

  Hello, I'm trying to enable NTLM authentication on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine with IIS 7.5 for a specific file in my web root. I've been following these instructions http://docs.moodle.org/en/NTLM_authentication#IIS_Configuration In the IIS Manager I open the Authentication module, disable anonymous authentication and enable Windows Authentication however according to every post I can find on the matter I should have a 'providers' option appear but I don't. I've double checked in Server Manager that the 'Windows Authentication' security feature is enabled for IIS. Any help anyone can offer would be great, Thank you!

  Does anybody know a few details about signed software and /Applications/Utilities/Installer.app? I didn't find more at Wikipedia (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Installer_%28Mac_OS_X%29) and the UNIX-Manual (man 8 installer). I have here a valid signature from iLife 11 Installer.app (http://i.imgur.com/Y3raY.jpg). Does this mean I can be 100% sure that nothing is modified? It means I can trust this PKG because signed by Apple? Or did I get something wrong?

• NAT for Sprint Nexus S "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot"

  I am on a 2010 Macbook Air connected to the web over wifi tethering on my Sprint Nexus S. I want to be able to host a few files using MAMP, but it seems that Sprint is running a NAT. When I query checkip.dyndns.org right now, it returns 68.27.228.75. However, trying to navigate to that IP fails (even though I do have MAMP's Apache running on port 80, as verified via loopback). When I whois 68.27.228.75, it appears to be a Sprint address, with NetName "SPRINTPCS" and OrgName "Sprint Nextel Corporation". So, is there some way I can circumvent Sprint's NAT to allow people to connect to my server that is running on a Nexus S Portable Wi-Fi hotspot?

• Can snort output an alert for a portscan (sfPortscan) to syslog?

  I've been working on this for too long now. I'm sure the answer should be obvious, but... Snort manual: http://www.snort.org/assets/125/snort_manual-2_8_5_1.pdf lists two logging outputs on pg 39 (pg 40 according to Acrobat Reader) as: "Unified Output" and "Log File Output" which I am guessing the former refers to the "unified" output mode... which makes me think the answer is "No, snort cannot output alerts for detected portscans to syslog." Config file I've been using is: alert tcp any 80 -> any any (msg:"TestTestTest"; content: "testtesttest"; sid:123) preprocessor sfportscan: proto { all } \ memcap { 10000000 } \ scan_type { all } \ sense_level { high } \ logfile { pscan.log } (yes, very basic I know). A simple nmap triggers output to the pscan.log Can anyone confirm this? Or point out how I do this?

• PostgreSQL has no service name on CentOS

  I installed PostgreSQL in a pretty standard way on CentOS 5.5: rpm -ivh http://yum.pgrpms.org/reporpms/9.0/pgdg-centos-9.0-2.noarch.rpm yum install postgresql90-server postgresql90-contrib chkconfig postgresql-90 on /etc/init.d/postgresql-90 initdb But for some reason I can't use it with the service command because it has no name, .e.g if I do service --status-all I get back the following: master (pid 3095) is running... (pid 3009) is running... rdisc is stopped Or even just /etc/init.d/postgresql-90 status: (pid 3009) is running... So how can I give it a name so that I don't have to type out the whole init script path each time?

  Hello everybody, I have PAM+LDAP SSL running on Debian Lenny, it works well. I always want to restrict who's able to connect, in the past I used pam_groupdn for that but I recently got a situation where I has to accept 2 different groups. So I used pam_filter like this : pam_filter |(groupattribute=server)(groupattribute=restricted_server) The problem is that with this statement, passwd doesn't work anymore with LDAP accounts. Any idea why ? • Apache redirect from one domain to another domain

  Like many users, we tend to register the *.com and *.net versions of our domain names to prevent nefarious squatters. So if we wanted "foo.com" we'd also register "foo.net" and have them both resolve to the same IP address. Trying to set up Apache for the first time and need to know the proper way to redirect requests to "foo.net" to go to "foo.com" instead so that if a user types in "foo.net" they get magically redirected to "foo.com". I've been reading through the Apache URL Rewriting guide (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/misc/rewriteguide.html) and it's not readily apparent how to do this seemingly simple task. • Pidgin not working with Gtalk

  I have downloaded latest Pidgin(version 2.10.6) for Windows and tried to gtalk account to it. It shows "not authorized" error. I have tried many options given in the net and its not working for me, Below are the values I have given, Basic Tab: Protocal: XMPP Username: <my username> Domain: gmail.com Password: <My Password> and enabled Remember password check box Advanced Tab: Connection security: Require Encryption (Default) Unhecked "Allow plaintext auth over unencrypted streams" (Default) Connection Port: 5222 (Default) Connect server: talk.google.com File Transfer proxies: proxy.eu.jabber.org (default) BOSH URL: <Empty> (default) I enabled two step verification process for my gmail account, So I created application specific password and given here. But Its not working. Please help me what could be the problem and how to resolve it?

• Firefox does not load certificate chain

  I'm running lighttpd/1.4.28 (ssl) on Debian Squeeze. I just created a http://startssl.com certificate, I runs fine at all of my Browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera), but my users are reporting certificate-errors in Firefox. I already nailed it down to a failing of loading of the certificate chain: Certificate at my Firefox: http://i.stack.imgur.com/moR5x.png Certificate at others Firefox: http://i.stack.imgur.com/ZVoIu.png (Note the missing StartCOM-certificates here) I followed this tutorial for embedding the certificate in my lighttpd: https://forum.startcom.org/viewtopic.php?t=719 The relevant parts of my lighttpd.conf look like this: $SERVER["socket"] == ":443" { ssl.engine = "enable" ssl.ca-file = "/etc/lighttpd/certs/ca-bundle.pem" ssl.pemfile = "/etc/lighttpd/certs/www.bisaboard.crt" } ca-bundle.pem was created like this: cat ca.pem sub.class1.server.ca.pem > ca-bundle.pem I grabbed the relevant files from here: http://www.startssl.com/certs/ www.bisaboard.crt was created like this: cat certificate.pem ssl.key > www.bisaboard.crt Where certificate.pem is my StartSSL-Class1 Certificate and ssl.key my SSL-Root-Key. Do you have any idea why the second Firefox does not correctly load the certificate-chain?

• Can I upgrade my Soltek sl-67a-c motherboard from Pentium II to Pentium III?

  I have a Pentium III processor and I thought I would replace the Pentium II on my Soltek SL-67A-C. The motherboard has Slot 1 so the PIII fits in fine, however, when I turn on the computer the bios does not come up. I see references to a "67af3.zip" bios upgrade file out there but can't find any source to download it. I know it is possible for certain given configs like for example the mail-service.xml and the jboss-log4j.xml... But they are both loaded directly by JBoss, and not via the properties service.

  I have a freshly installed Ubuntu 9.10 server installed within a VirtualBox VM instance. From the VirtualBox menu bar, I selected Devices: Install Guest Additions... Then performed the following commands: > sudo apt-get install -y build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r) > sudo mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/ > sudo /mnt/VBoxLinuxAdditions-amd64.run After some successful looking results, the following error is displayed: Installing the Window System drivers ...fail! (Could not find the X.Org or XFree86 Window System.) After restarting, I was looking forward to some UI integration with my host desktop (resize window, not needing to press right-Ctrl to escape the client window, and having copy and paste functionality. Is it possible to install the Guest Additions without the X Window overhead (I plan to only use for shell commands)? If additional packages are required, which ones?

• Samba 3.3 or later on Slackware 12 - how do I make this happen?

  I'm trying to upgrade the Samba server on a Slackware 12 box to serve as PDC for Windows 7 32bit machines (it now has a 3.0.3 and does the job for Win XP machines, but 7 refuses to join the domain - I'm posting this after having tried a few dozen hacks on the windows registry). I'm a newbie on Slackware (I usually dwell in Ubuntu) so I may be going about this the wrong way but this is what I've done so far: The Samba wiki has a couple of hacks for the registry and also seems to suggest a version later than 3.3 (though not in so many words) http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 Having scoured the net for later Samba binaries for Slackware 12 and gotten precisely nowhere, I decided that maybe I could compile the blessed thing. But I keep on getting compiler errors. I'm using this SlackBuild script http://ftp.twaren.net/Linux/slackware/slackware-current/source/n/samba/samba.SlackBuild Is there a better way to make this happen? (without upgrading the base system? it has so many finely tuned things running that I don't want to mess with the rest of the setup).

• How to make ClearType looks ok even with large fonts

  I discovered that on large/huge fonts ClearType does have a negative impact. Just take a look at http://patterns.dataincubator.org/book/ page (check title with huge fonts versus normal text). If you are on Windows 7 you can use Win+Plus/Minus to zoom in/out. I'm looking for a configuration that would make both small fonts and large fonts look well. The system is Windows 7 but I suppose you could replicate the problem on Vista and even XP if you activate ClearType. Current results: ClearType on and tunned - small fonts looking good and large one looking bad ClearType off - small fonts looking bad and large one looking ok (smoothed)

• Redmine on Redhat/CentOS 5 Without using virtual hosts

  I've have followed all the steps to install Redmine on CentOS 5, except for the Apache part: http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/HowTo_install_Redmine_on_CentOS_5 I do not want to configure a virtualhost as we are not using virtual hosts. Can I configure Redmine to run with http://hostname/redmine? Apparently it doesn't work for my case. Redmine was extracted in to the webserver document root /var/www/html/ called /var/www/html/redmine What I did was added a redmine.conf to /etc/httpd/conf.d/ with the following configuration and restarted the server: <Location "/redmine"> Options Indexes ExecCGI FollowSymLinks -MultiViews Order allow,deny Allow from all AllowOverride all PassengerEnabled On RailsBaseURI /var/www/html/redmine RailsEnv production </Location> now i got this error Further information about the error may have been written to the application's log file.
