• Locking down multiple sites in Sitecore

  Hi I have two sites running under one Sitecore 6 installation. The home nodes of the sites are as such: /sitecore/content/Home /sitecore/content/Careers Assuming the primary site is at domain.com, the careers site can be accessed at careers.domain.com. My problem is that, by prefixing the uri with /sitecore/content/, any sitecore item can be accessed by either (sub)domain. For example, I can get to: http://domain.com/sitecore/content/careers.aspx (should be under careers.domain.com) http://careers.domain.com/sitecore/content/home/destinations.aspx (should be under domain.com). I know I can redirect these urls (using IIS7 Redirects or ISAPIRewrite) but is there any way to 'lock' Sitecore down to only serve items under the configured home node for that domain? Thanks, Adam

• Android: stack management for views in a tab?

  I see some answers here prefer views over activities as contents of tabs. Correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is that by switching out views, it's possible to keep the navigation flow inside a tab (more user friendly, I think). But I wonder how to manage the view stack then in case of the back button events. Also this could cause one giant Activity with large amount of views, which might not be good. So I wish to know why exactly views as contents is preferred before I change my current application to this. Thanks,

• Custom URL protocol in Windows to serve HTML content

  This question addresses how to register a custom URL protocol to launch an application in response to a link, but I want my handler to serve dynamic content. Essentially, I'm looking to create a web application that runs on the user's machine instead of a web server. I could set up a localhost, but I want to use a "friendly" URL format that the user can reference elsewhere, e.g. a hypothetical cats protocol: cats:fluffy/cheeseburger-consumption-stats How can I accomplish this? Also, do you see any pitfalls with this approach, such as security warnings from browsers? Thanks!

• Facebook canvas app showing wordpress blog in iframe - how to link to specific pages?

  Sorry for the cumbersome title. I have a Facebook canvas app that is call up a Wordpress site in an iFrame. This is fine and works as hoped but is there a way to link directly to a page within it? For example the page I want to reach is actually: www.blog.com/monkeys/ But I want to be able to use a link like this: www.facebook.com/monkeyblogapp/app_243495067635997/monkeys/ So that I can give out that URL and get people to see the right bit of content but within the Facebook environment. I have seen people mention callback urls (like this one which as far as I can tell just means having the app addresses match the website Direct links to pages in Facebook iFrame application?) but that doesn't work.   Hi all, i have a question that's being around for several years. As all you know entity framework is an ORM tool that tries to model the database to an object oriented access model. All the samples I've seen are quering directly to the database tables. So, which is the role of the views in the database now?. The views were used to model the database in a more friendly way, that is, several physical tables, one logic table. This was great for example in hidding the complex relational model on stored procedures as queryng the views inside them was much easier than reproducing the query joins over and over on each stored procedure. So the question is, why is entity framework so good if stored procedures can not take benefit of it?

• Apache rewrite_mod: RewriteRule path and query string

  I currently have a website with a standard web interface on index.php, and I made an iPhone-friendly version in iphone.php. Both pages handle the same arguments. It works fine when I manually go to .../iphone.php, but I'd like to rewrite anything on .../path/ and .../path/index.php to iphone.php if %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} contains mobile, and optionally add the query string (not sure if/when I'd need to add it). So far, this is what I have in my .../path/.htaccess: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.+mobile.+$ [NC] RewriteRule index.php?(.*) iphone.php?$1 [L] RewriteRule index.php iphone.php [L] The problems are, it matches index.php in any subfolder, and it won't match .../path/?args… Special thanks to anyone who can correct/simplify/optimize anything =)

  Hi, I'm having problems with regular expressions that I got from regexlib. I am trying to do a preg_replace() on a some text and want to replace/remove email addresses and URLs (http/https/ftp). The code that I am have is: $sanitiseRegex = array( 'email' => /'^([a-zA-Z0-9_\-\.]+)@((\[[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.[0-9]{1,3}\.)|(([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+\.)+))([a-zA-Z]{2,4}|[0-9]{1,3})(\]?)$/', 'http' => '/^(http|https|ftp)\://[a-zA-Z0-9\-\.]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,3}(:[a-zA-Z0-9]*)?/?([a-zA-Z0-9\-\._\?\,\'/\\\+&amp;%\$#\=~])*$/', ); $replace = array( 'xxxxx', 'xxxxx' ); $sanitisedText = preg_replace($sanitiseRegex, $replace, $text); However I am getting the following error: Unknown modifier '/' and $sanitisedText is null.   I'm running into problems trying to pass absolute URIs as parameters with clean URLs enabled. I've got hook_menu() set up like this: function mymodule_menu() { return array( 'page/%' = array( 'title' = 'DBpedia Display Test', 'page callback' = 'mymodule_dbpedia_display', 'page arguments' = array(1), ), ); } and in the page callback: function mymodule_dbpedia_display($uri) { // Make an HTTP request for this URI // and then render some things return $output; } What I'm hoping to do is somehow pass full URIs (e.g. "http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee") to my page callback. I've tried a few things and nothing's worked so far... http://mysite.com/page/http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Completely breaks Drupal's rewriting http://mysite.com/page/?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fdbpedia.org%2Fresource%2FCoffee Gives a 404 http://mysite.com/page/http://dbpedia.org/resource/Coffee Returns just "http:", which makes sense I could probably use $_GET to pull out the whole query string, but I guess I'm hoping for a more 'Drupal' solution. Any suggestions?

• charset problem?

  Hi all, I have a bugging problem. For a website I made there are search engine friendly URL's generated. The only problem is there are ß-chars in the url too. Chars like ö, ï, ä, ü etc. are placed correct. But with the ß-char there is a diamond-icon with a questionmark in it. - ? I thought it had to do with the charset which is used but i've tried both UTF-8 and iso-8859-1. Both without luck. I need to have the correct character in the url for the readability of deeplinks. • Connect Infopath form To Outlook - shows as xml

  In Sharepoint, i have a Forms Library. I would like to connect it to oulook. The problem is that once I do that, Outlook will display the forms in a .XML rendering...a bunch of text, not very user friendly. (I am using Sharepoint 2010, InfoPath 2010, Outlook 2010) Am I missing some kind of settings? How can I display the forms in Outlook in a rendered type of view. (I have tried this with Forms that open in Browser, as well as with Forms that open in Client application, with the same results for both.)

  Hi there I have set up my coldfusion application to have dynamic urls on the page, such as www.musicExplained/index.cfm/artist/:VariableName However my variable names will sometimes contain slashes, such as www.musicExplained/index.cfm/artist/GZA/Genius This is causing a problem, because my application presumes that the slash in the variable name represents a different section of the website, the artists albums. So the URL will fail. I am wondering if there is anyway to prevent this from happening? Do I need to use a function that replaces slashes in the variable names with another character? Thanks

Edit: As Ryan P mentioned, one of the best way to create usable app is to put yourself in user's place. I totally agree with it, but what I want to see in this topic is specific techniques (like those I mentioned above) rather than general recommendations.

  I got following infrastructure. Site A - Tomcat. Can be access by url www.sitea.com Site B - php backend( or probably it will be just static html pages ). Can't be access directly. I want to forward all request comming to www.sitea.com/doforward/... (Tomcat) to php backend. And all other requests with other urls should be handled by Tomcat itself. I know i can add another web server in front of tomcat, for example nginx, and based on url forward request to php backed or tomcat backend. But i want tomcat to serve requests itself and forward it to another backend. Probably there are ready implementations for servlet containers like mod_proxy for apache. Thank you

• What's the best way to capture output from SQL Management Studio and paste it into an Outlook email?

  I'm constantly executing ad-hoc queries in SQL Management Studio and need to send the results to people via email. This happens several times a day so I'm looking for the best way to copy the results of the query from the results window into an Outlook email body so that it can be formatted in a reader friendly manner. I haven't come up with anything that works well for me. When it really matters, I end up going into Excel, executing the query from within there and then attaching the resulting spreadsheet. I'm looking for something that I can do without involving Excel if possible. Any ideas?

  Okay, I have a list of URLs in a MySQL table. I want the script to automatically check each link in the table for 404, and afterward I want it to store whether the URL was 404'd or not, as well as store a time for last checked. Is this even possible to do automatically, even if no one runs the script? ie, no one visits the page for a few days, but even with no one visiting the page, it automatically ran the test. If its possible, how could I go about making a button to do this?

• C++: Platform independent game lib?

  Hi, I want to write a serious 2D game, and it would be nice if I have a version for Linux and one for Windows (and eventually OSX). Java is fantastic because it is platform independent. But Java is too slow to write a serious game. So, I thought to write it in C++. But C++ isn't very cross-platform friendly. I can find game libraries for Windows and libraries for Linux, but I'm searching one that I can use for both, by recompiling the source on a Windows platform and on a Linux platform. Are there engines for this or is this idea irrelevant? Isn't it that easy (recompiling)? Any advice and information about C++ libraries would be very very very appreciated!

  hello there. building a site which has content for each section. urls range from; /work/ /work/print/ /work/print/folders etc. however, at any point a user can click on an article so; /work/article/1066 /work/print/article/1066 /work/print/folders/article/1066 using .htaccess i need to detect when there is 'article' in the url and set some different variables. RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9\-]+)/$ sets index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4 but if 'article/([0-9-]+)' is in the url, say /work/print/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&articleID=1066 basically the amount of levels will always be different but i'd like to return those as needed. another example would /work/print/folder/archive/article/1066 return index.php?level1=$1&level2=$2&level3=$3&level4=$4&articleID=1066 any help appreciated!   I'm trying to handle Clean URIs in a Classic ASP application. In PHP, I was able to use URIs like http://example.com/index.php/foo/bar/baz and have /foo/bar/baz available in the PATH_INFO environment variable. (I usually add a rewrite rule so I do not need the index.php segment) However, I don't seem to be able to mimic this in Classic ASP. If I try http://example.com/index.asp/foo/bar/baz, I get a 404 error. Is there a way to add a path after the index.asp segment and get the PHP like behaviour in ASP? Note: I'm currently using the workaround of rewriting URLs of the form: http://example.com/foo/bar/baz/ to index.asp?path=/foo/bar/baz since I can't seem to get index.asp/foo/bar/baz to work.
