  • PHP DOMXml XPath of recursive Xpointer

    My xml document reflects an Object. as referential Recursion is possible in objects and arrays. I need to reflect that in reproduced XML Structure too. Currently I am using Unique IDs to identify each node separately and a node like <recursion refer="IDREF"> and specifying the ID of the referenced Element. But in This way I need My Own Custom XPath resolver cause I want to let the users go deeper into the recursive node through the Identifying IDREF (Hope I am able to make you understand). So is there any better/liteweight solution ?? might be XPointer or XLink (I am not sure). Any help ??

  • PHP OOP: Providing Domain Entities with "Identity"

    Bit of an abstract problem here. I'm experimenting with the Domain Model pattern, and barring my other tussles with dependencies - I need some advice on generating Identity for use in an Identity Map. In most examples for the Data Mapper pattern I've seen (including the one outlined in this book: http://apress.com/book/view/9781590599099) - the user appears to manually set the identity for a given Domain Object using a setter: $UserMapper = new UserMapper; //returns a fully formed user object from record sets $User = $UserMapper->find(1); //returns an empty object with appropriate properties for completion $UserBlank = $UserMapper->get(); $UserBlank->setId(); $UserBlank->setOtherProperties(); Now, I don't know if I'm reading the examples wrong - but in the first $User object, the $id property is retrieved from the data store (I'm assuming $id represents a row id). In the latter case, however, how can you set the $id for an object if it has not yet acquired one from the data store? The problem is generating a valid "identity" for the object so that it can be maintained via an Identity Map - so generating an arbitrary integer doesn't solve it. My current thinking is to nominate different fields for identity (i.e. email) and demanding their presence in generating blank Domain Objects. Alternatively, demanding all objects be fully formed, and using all properties as their identity...hardly efficient. (Or alternatively, dump the Domain Model concept and return to DBAL/DAO/Transaction Scripts...which is seeming increasingly elegant compared to the ORM implementations I've seen...)

    Hi everyone, I am really not sure if this is the right way to go, since exceptions is really a fresh subject to me. Is it possible to catch multiple exceptions (let the execution of the script continue) and then store the exceptions in a array to be able to return all exceptions caused? By that said, it would be awesome to be able to use exceptions to more than just showing an error that kills the application (script) Thanks!

    Is mysql_real_escape_string sufficient for cleaning user input in most situations? ::EDIT:: I'm thinking mostly in terms of preventing SQL injection but I ultimately want to know if I can trust user data after I apply mysql_real_escape_string or if I should take extra measures to clean the data before I pass it around the application and databases. I see where cleaning for HTML chars is important but I wouldn't consider it necessary for trusting user input. T

  • PHP to Mesh 2 PDF'S Together or not?

    I have an already pre-designed PDF, and I would like to fill the PDF with some database information. So I'm curious if I should save the PDF into JPG's and render them out with the data on top of the image and re-create a PDF. Or is there a way to use the PDF already, and print data into the PDF that is already made? I am trying to figure out the best solution to generating this type of PDF. All thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

    I have asked before about selecting a framework but I have never actually asked should you a framework? In the past I have never used one but I am being drawn more and more to the idea to speed up development time. I am really concerned about the performance of the application though. Does anyone have any views on whether it is a good idea or not to use a framework? The performance of the apps built on top of it will be crucial. Thanks

    Hi - I'm developing a property rentals website. The search results page will contain a list of property results. It is my intention to redefine the results, say by town, country, property type etc. So let's say for example the user searches 'France'. All of the relative properties will be returned and displayed in a list. However, I also need to reuse this array, to display only unique town names from the search results array. e.g. Montpellier, Lyon, Rennes, Nice etc. The idea is when use user click on 'Nice', only the 'Nice' properties would return. I would also like to display how many properties are in that town.   • [PHP] DOMDocument load on a page returning 400 Bad Request status

    Hiya, I'm trying to use the Last.fm API for an application I'm creating, but am having some problems with validation. If an API request gives an error it returns a code and message in the response XML like this: <lfm status="failed"> <error code="6">No user with that name</error> </lfm> However, the request also returns an HTTP status of 400 (or in some cases 403) which DOMDocument considers an error and so then refuses to parse the XML. Is there any way round this, so that I can retrieve the error code and message? Thanks Pete

  • Locking NFS files in PHP

    Part of my latest webapp needs to write to file a fair amount as part of its logging. One problem I've noticed is that if there are a few concurrent users, the writes can overwrite each other (instead of appending to file). I assume this is because of the destination file can be open in a number of places at the same time. flock(...) is usually superb but it doesn't appear to work on NFS... Which is a huge problem for me as the production server uses a NFS array. The closest thing I've seen to an actual solution involves trying to create a lock dir and waiting until it can be created. To say this lacks elegance is understatement of the year, possibly decade. Any better ideas? Edit: I should add that I don't have root on the server and doing the storage in another way isn't really feasible any time soon, not least within my deadline.

    I want to use pdo in my application, but before that I want to understand how internally PDOStatement->fetch and PDOStatement->fetchAll. For my application, I want to do something like "SELECT * FROM myTable" and insert into csv file and it has around 90000 rows of data. My question is, if I use PDOStatement->fetch as I am using it here: // First, prepare the statement, using placeholders $query = "SELECT * FROM tableName"; $stmt = $this->connection->prepare($query); // Execute the statement $stmt->execute(); var_dump($stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)); while ($row = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)) { echo "Hi"; // Export every row to a file fputcsv($data, $row); } Will after every fetch from database, result for that fetch would be store in memory ? Meaning when I do second fetch, memory would have data of first fetch as well as data for second fetch. And so if I have 90000 rows of data and if am doing fetch every time than memory is being updated to take new fetch result without removing results from previous fetch and so for the last fetch memory would already have 89999 rows of data. Is this how PDOStatement::fetch works ? Performance wise how does this stack up against PDOStatement::fetchAll ?

    I'm trying to use an RSS feed from my blog on the news section on another site. Everything seems to be working fine until I use something like an ellipsis on my blog. The expected output is: One more time…less fail Although this is no joking matter… The actual output is: One more time?less fail Although this is no joking matter… The problem is that ? should be a .... The code I'm using is the same for the first line (the blog title) and the second line (the blog contents) and that code is: $a = utf8_decode($a); print("$a"); Where $a is the string from the RSS feed. Can anyone point in the right direction why that code would work correctly for the body (second line) and not for the title (first line)? Or suggest a better way to do this? Thanks!

  • Need some help to determine the amount of recursive calls in PHP

    Hi all, I've got a, I think fairly easy question, but this is bugging me for a while now. So I figured, maybe I can get some help here. Since recursive functions are always a bit tricky, and sometimes a bit unclear to me, I keep struggling to create a nice working solution to get my menudata. In one of my classes I have this function, which gives me all menu-items recursivly.     For a little project about XML I try to use HTML5 as it has SVG and WAI-ARIA Support. I also want to use a XSL stylesheet for my document. But I can't get a valid HTML5 document with a nested SVG. Here are some version I tested so far: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output indent="yes" method="xml"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> In combination with header('Content-Type: application/xml'); it works and produces this HTML output: <?xml version="1.0"?> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> But it is not HTML5 and without a DOCTYPE I get a lot of errors on the W3 validator. So trying to get a HTML5 document I used the following XSL: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output indent="yes" method="html"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:text disable-output-escaping='yes'>&lt;!DOCTYPE HTML></xsl:text> <html> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> But unfortunately that will produce thze following HTML output: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"> .... </head> // content with the svg tag in the body </html> As you can see it's regular HTML5 but using it in combination with header('Content-Type: application/xml'); it fails because of the missing slash at the end of the meta tag (which was automatically created). Using header('Content-Type: image/xhtml+svg'); or header('Content-Type: text/html'); there is no XML parsing error, but the page will not show the SVG as a graph but as text (without the tags). Can anyone tell me how to avoid the meta tag to be inserted or how to set a propper Content-Type that will make the browser rendern the SVG. Or even any other hint to get this working. I would really like to keep HTML5 to be able to keep the WAI-ARIA Landmark Roles an the HTML5 tags like NAV and FOOTER.

I'm trying to use heredoc syntax to fill in the email body, however, the closing tag doesn't seem to be recognized. $this->email = new Email(); $this->email->from = 'Automated Email'; $this->email->to = '[email protected]'; $this->email->subject = 'A new user has registered'; $this->email->body = <<<EOF Hello, a new user has registered. EOF; $this->email->send(); Everything from the opening <<< EOF down (till the end of the file) is displayed as if it was in quotes. Can anyone see why this is not working? Any advice appreciated.     Hello, I have a single array with several of the same values. And I only want to loop over DIFFERENT values. How could I go about doing this? So it would loop once for nothing, then once for _86, then once for _86_97, then once for _86_97_108, and then once for _86-97_108_119. So only loop for different key values, or would there be a way to count the number of different keys?

TEXT:some normal text TEXT:some normal text ok, now by using preg_split( '#\n(^\s)#' , $text ); i get [0] => Array ( [0] => some normal text [1] => some long text here, and so on... sometimes [2] => some normal text [3] => some normal text ) As you can see the [1] Element of the Array is cutted off! what Regex can get the entire line and also split at line break!?
