    After more than a few questions about deciding on C++ books I thought we could make a better community wiki version. Providing QUALITY books and an approximate skill level. Maybe we can add a short blurb/description about each book that you have personally read / benefited from. • Iterate over rows/checkboxes in a RadGrid

    - by ChessWhiz
    Hi, I have a Telerik RadGrid with a GridTemplateColumn that contains a checkbox, as follows: <telerik:GridTemplateColumn HeaderText="MINE" UniqueName="MyTemplateColumn"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:CheckBox id="MyCheckBox" runat="server"></asp:CheckBox> </ItemTemplate> </telerik:GridTemplateColumn> I want to set the box to be "checked" based on a value read from the database. I could handle the ItemDataBound event and read the database when each row is bound, but that results in n lookups. Instead, I want to handle DataBound, and then set all the values at once. So, in that method, I want code like this: // read all values from database first, then... foreach(var chkbox in MyRadGrid.MasterTableView.Columns.FindByUniqueName("MyTemplateColumn").FindControl("MyCheckBox")) { chkbox.Checked = oneValue; } That doesn't work, because FindControl isn't a method of GridColumn, and it won't generate an iterable list of the checkboxes. What is the correct way to iterate through the checkboxes in the template column? Thanks!

  • Ajax call from a form rendered as Ajax response (jQuery + Grails: chaining ajax requests)

    - by bsreekanth
    Hello, I was expecting the below scenario common, but couldn't find much help online. I have a form loaded through Ajax (say, create entity form). It is loaded through a button click (load) event $("#bt-create").click(function(){ $ ('#pid').load('/controller/vehicleModel/create3'); return false; }); the response (a form) is written in to the pid element. The name and id of the form is ajax-form, and the submit event is attached to an ajax post request $(function() { $("#ajax-form").submit(function(){ // do something... var url = "/app/controller/save" $.post(url, $(this).serialize(), function(data) { alert( data ) ; /// alert data from server }); I could make the above ajax operations individually. That is the ajax post operation succeeds if it calls from a static html file. But if I chain the requests (after completing the first), so that it calls from the output form generated by the first request, nothing happens. I could see the post method is called through firebug. Is there a better way to handle above flow? One more interesting thing I noticed. As you could see, I use grails as my platform. If I keep the javascripts in the main.gsp (master layout), the submit event would not register as the breakpoint is not hit in firebug. But, if I define the javascript in the template file (which renders the form above), the breakpoint is hit, but as I explained, the action is not called at the controller. I changes the javascript to the head section but same result. any help greatly appreciated. thanks, Babu.

  • Dynamically creating an ImageMap (clickable area on image) in WPF using codebehind.

    - by Thomas Stock
    Hi, I'm trying to create "imagemaps" on an image in wpf using codebehind. See the following XML: <Button Type="Area"> <Point X="100" Y="100"></Point> <Point X="100" Y="200"></Point> <Point X="200" Y="200"></Point> <Point X="200" Y="100"></Point> <Point X="150" Y="150"></Point> </Button> I'm trying to translate this to a button on a certain image in my WPF app. I've already did a part of this, but I'm stuck at setting the Polygon as the button's "template": private Button GetAreaButton(XElement buttonNode) { // get points PointCollection buttonPointCollection = new PointCollection(); foreach (var pointNode in buttonNode.Elements("Point")) { buttonPointCollection.Add(new Point((int)pointNode.Attribute("X"), (int)pointNode.Attribute("Y"))); } // create polygon Polygon myPolygon = new Polygon(); myPolygon.Points = buttonPointCollection; myPolygon.Stroke = Brushes.Yellow; myPolygon.StrokeThickness = 2; // create button based on polygon Button button = new Button(); ????? } I'm also unsure on how to add/remove this button to/from my image, but I'm looking into that. Any help is appreciated.

  • Using Word COM objects in .NET, WinWord process won't quit after calling Word.Documents.Add

    - by Keith
    I'm running into the classic scenario where, when creating Word COM objects in .NET (via the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word assembly), the WinWord process won't exit even though I'm properly closing and releasing the objects. I've narrowed it down to the use of the Word.Documents.Add() method. I can work with Word in other ways without a problem (opening documents, modifying contents, etc) and WinWord.exe quits when I tell it to. It's once I use the Add() method that the process is left running. Here is a simple example which reproduces the problem: Dim oWord As New Word.Application() oWord.Visible = False Dim oDocuments As Word.Documents = oWord.Documents Dim oDoc As Word.Document = oDocuments.Add(Template:=CObj(sTemplatePath), NewTemplate:=False, DocumentType:=Word.WdNewDocumentType.wdNewBlankDocument, Visible:=False) ' dispose objects oDoc.Close() While (Marshal.ReleaseComObject(oDoc) < 0) End While oDoc = Nothing oWord.Quit() While (Marshal.ReleaseComObject(oWord) < 0) End While oWord = Nothing As you can see I'm creating and disposing the objects properly, even taking the extra step to loop Marsha.ReleaseComObject until it returns the proper code. Working with the Word objects is fine in other regards, it's just that pesky Documents.Add that is causing me grief. Is there another object that gets created in this process that I need to reference and dispose of? Is there another disposal step I need to follow? Something else? Your help is much appreciated :)

    Entity Framework with POCO Entities generated by T4 template. Added Function Import named it "procFindNumber" specified complex collection named it "NumberResult". Here's what got generated in Context.cs file: public ObjectResult<NumberResult> procFindNumber(string lookupvalue) { ObjectParameter lookupvalueParameter; if (lookupvalue != null) { lookupvalueParameter = new ObjectParameter("lookupvalue", lookupvalue); } else { lookupvalueParameter = new ObjectParameter("lookupvalue", typeof(string)); } return base.ExecuteFunction<NumberResult>("procFindNumber", lookupvalueParameter); } Here's the stored procedure: ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[procFindNumber] @lookupvalue varchar(255) AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON; DECLARE @sql nvarchar(MAX); IF @lookupvalue IS NOT NULL AND @lookupvalue <> '' BEGIN SELECT @sql = 'SELECT dbo.HBM_CLIENT.CLIENT_CODE, dbo.HBM_MATTER.MATTER_NAME, dbo.HBM_MATTER.CLIENT_MAT_NAME FROM dbo.HBM_MATTER INNER JOIN dbo.HBM_CLIENT ON dbo.HBM_MATTER.CLIENT_CODE = dbo.HBM_CLIENT.CLIENT_CODE LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.HBL_CLNT_CAT ON dbo.HBM_CLIENT.CLNT_CAT_CODE = dbo.HBL_CLNT_CAT.CLNT_CAT_CODE LEFT OUTER JOIN dbo.HBL_CLNT_TYPE ON dbo.HBM_CLIENT.CLNT_TYPE_CODE = dbo.HBL_CLNT_TYPE.CLNT_TYPE_CODE WHERE (LTRIM(RTRIM(dbo.HBM_MATTER.CLIENT_CODE)) <> '''')' SELECT @sql = @sql + ' AND (dbo.HBM_MATTER.MATTER_NAME like ''%' + @lookupvalue + '%'')' SELECT @sql = @sql + ' OR (dbo.HBM_MATTER.CLIENT_MAT_NAME like ''%' + @lookupvalue + '%'')' SELECT @sql = @sql + ' ORDER BY dbo.HBM_MATTER.MATTER_NAME' -- Execute the SQL query EXEC sp_executesql @sql END END In my WCF service I try to execute the stored procedure: [WebGet(UriTemplate = "number/{value}/?format={format}")] public IEnumerable<NumberResult> GetNumber(string value, string format) { if (string.Equals("json", format, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase)) { WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse.Format = WebMessageFormat.Json; } using (var ctx = new MyEntities()) { ctx.ContextOptions.ProxyCreationEnabled = false; var results = ctx.procFindNumber(value); return results.ToList(); } } Error message says "The FunctionImport ... could not be found in the container ..."   • How do I pass a custom field to a hook (Invision Power Board [ipb] / PHP)

    - by Julian Young
    A long shot but here's hoping someone has some experience coding PHP hooks for Invisions Power Board forum. I'm attempting to code a status addition and the PHP works fine on it's own, it's the passing of the IPB's reference to my hook that is the issue. I.E. You setup a custom field in your forum for MSN Username, then from within a skin / template hook you pass the custom field to the hook and then use your PHP code to check on the status. Here is the IPB skin code I am hooking into on Global-userInfoPane... <if test="authorcfields:|:$author['custom_fields'] != """> <foreach loop="customFieldsOuter:$author['custom_fields'] as $group => $data"> <foreach loop="customFields:$author['custom_fields'][ $group ] as $field"> <if test="$field != ''"> <li> {$field} </li> </if> </foreach> </foreach> </if> Although I could easily add my own skin hook here. i.e. <if test="myHookHere:|:1===1"></if> Literally all I need is a single custom field entry from here passed to my hook. If I query every member when the hook is run then that will result in many extra sql queries per page view. All I want to do is pass that specific custom field to the hook... i.e. myHookHere( $customfield['msn_username'] ) Is this possible? How do you reference the customfield? Can I execute pure PHP from here? Appreciate anyone that can help! I tried the official invision forums but not had much luck.

  • Android orientation change causes ImageView to dissapear

    - by Jarrod Smith
    Below is my layout for the row template in a SimpleCursorAdapter. The ImageView with id next_arrow disappears on orientation change. If I replace @drawable/arrow with @drawable/icon (copy of the standard sym_def_app_icon) it works fine. I thought it might be somehow related to the icons being of different dimensions, but I resized @drawable/icon to be the exact same dimensions as the arrow and it still worked fine while the arrow didn't. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="90dp" android:background="@drawable/product_list_divider" android:paddingTop="10dp"> <ImageView android:src="@drawable/ninja_20_65" android:id="@+id/category_icon" android:layout_marginLeft="20dp" android:layout_marginRight="20dp" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="3dp"/> <LinearLayout android:orientation="vertical" android:layout_weight="5" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_height="wrap_content"> <TextView android:id="@+id/category_name" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Name" style="@style/CategoryHeading" android:layout_marginTop="5dp"/> <TextView android:id="@+id/category_description" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Description" style="@style/CategoryDescription"/> </LinearLayout> <ImageView android:src="@drawable/arrow" android:layout_weight="1" android:layout_width="0dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_marginTop="20dp" android:id="@+id/next_arrow"/> </LinearLayout>

  • Use Html.RadioButtonFor and Html.LabelFor for the same Model but different values

    - by Marc
    I have this Razor Template <table> <tr> <td>@Html.RadioButtonFor(i => i.Value, "1")</td> <td>@Html.LabelFor(i => i.Value, "true")</td> </tr> <tr> <td>@Html.RadioButtonFor(i => i.Value, "0")</td> <td>@Html.LabelFor(i => i.Value, "false")</td> </tr> </table> That gives me this HTML <table> <tr> <td><input id="Items_1__Value" name="Items[1].Value" type="radio" value="1" /></td> <td><label for="Items_1__Value">true</label></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input checked="checked" id="Items_1__Value" name="Items[1].Value" type="radio" value="0" /></td> <td><label for="Items_1__Value">false</label></td> </tr> </table> So I have the ID Items_1__Value twice which is - of course - not good and does not work in a browser when I click on the second label "false" the first radio will be activated. I know I could add an own Id at RadioButtonFor and refer to that with my label, but that's not pretty good, is it? Especially because I'm in a loop and cannot just use the name "value" with an added number, that would be end up in multiple Dom Ids in my final HTML markup as well. Shouldn't be a good solution for this?

  • Reducing WPF binding boilerplate with styles - updating the bindings themselves via styling?

    - by Eamon Nerbonne
    I'm still learning the WPF ropes, so if the following question is trivial or my approach wrong-headed, please do speak up... I'm trying to reduce boilerplate and it sounds like styles are a common way to do so. In particular: I've got a bunch of fairly mundane data-entry fields. The controls for these fields have various properties I'd like to set based on the target of the binding - pretty normal stuff. However, I'd also like to set properties of the binding itself in the style to avoid repetitiveness. For example: <TextBox Style="{StaticResource myStyle}"> <TextBox.Text> <Binding Path="..." Source="..." ValidatesOnDataErrors="True" ValidatesOnExceptions="True" UpdateSourceTrigger="PropertyChanged"> </Binding> </TextBox.Text> </TextBox> Now, is there any way to use styling - or some other technique to write the previous example somewhat like this: <TextBox Style="{StaticResource myStyle}" Text="{Binding Source=... Path=...}/> That is, is there any way to set all bindings that match a particular selection (here, on controls with the myStyle style) to validate data and to use a particular update trigger? Is it possible to template or style bindings themselves? Clearly, the second syntax is much, much shorter and more readable, and I'd love to be able to get rid of other similar boilerplate to keep my UI code comprehensible to myself :-).

  • Edit/Access data from a CheckBox column in an ASPX:GridView - c#

    - by Endo
    Hi, I have a GridView to which I bind a dataTable I manually create. Both the GridView and the dataTable contain 2 columns, Name and isBusy. My GridView looks like this <Columns> <asp:BoundField HeaderText="Name" DataField="Name" SortExpression="Name"> </asp:BoundField> <asp:CheckBoxField DataField="isBusy" HeaderText="Busy" SortExpression="isBusy" /> </Columns> That works fine, except that the Busy column is non-editable unless you set a specific row to edit mode. I require the entire column of checkboxes to be checkable. So I converted the column to a template, and so the columns look like this: <Columns> <asp:BoundField HeaderText="Name" DataField="Name" SortExpression="Name"> </asp:BoundField> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Busy" SortExpression="isBusy"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:CheckBox ID="isBusy" runat="server" Checked='<%# Eval("isBusy") %>' oncheckedchanged="CheckBoxBusy_CheckedChanged" /> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> Now, this throws an error at runtime, saying System.InvalidCastException was unhandled by user code Message="Specified cast is not valid." Source="App_Web_zzjsqlrr" StackTrace: at ASP.proyectos_aspx.__DataBinding__control24(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\Proyect\Users.aspx:line 189 at System.Web.UI.Control.OnDataBinding(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind(Boolean raiseOnDataBinding) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBindChildren() InnerException: Any idea why this is happening? The next step I would need is to know how to set and get a checkbox's state (haven't been able to find how to manually check a checkbox). I appreciate very much any help.

  • Facebook, iframe app, fb:request-form, action attribute problem

    - by Unreality
    Hi all, I'm making a facebook iframe application I'm making a request form with my own form data. What should I do in order to process the data? If I put action="http://apps.facebook.com/[appName]/abc.php" , i.e. <fb:serverfbml> <script type="text/fbml"> <fb:fbml> <fb:request-form action="http://apps.facebook.com/[appName]/abc.php" method="post" type="abc" content="abc"> <textarea name="pm" fb_protected="true" ></textarea> <fb:multi-friend-selector showborder="false" max="35" actiontext="test" email_invite="true" bypass="cancel" /> </fb:request-form> </fb:fbml> </script> </fb:serverfbml> Then the result is funny... A facebook page inside the facebook app's iframe ! but if I put action="http://[my own domain / facebook connect url]/abc.php" , i.e. <fb:serverfbml> <script type="text/fbml"> <fb:fbml> <fb:request-form action="http://[my own domain / facebook connect url]/abc.php" method="post" type="abc" content="abc"> <textarea name="pm" fb_protected="true" ></textarea> <fb:multi-friend-selector showborder="false" max="35" actiontext="test" email_invite="true" bypass="cancel" /> </fb:request-form> </fb:fbml> </script> </fb:serverfbml> Then the result page will be rendered WITHOUT facebook template (that means losing all top facebook banner and bottom facebook bar like the facebook chats etc) Anyone knows what's wrong? Thanks a lot for reading

  • iTextSharp 5.0 Footer is not displaying

    - by Rick Make
    I am trying to create a simple footer that would display on the bottom of each page of the pdf document. I created a class that inherits from PdfPageEventHelper and it is set properly because the OnEndPage() method is called. But my temporary footer is not displaying. Is there something wrong that I am doing in my OnEndPage() method: public override void OnEndPage(PdfWriter writer, Document document) { base.OnEndPage(writer, document); int pageN = writer.PageNumber; String text = "Page " + pageN + " of "; float len = bf.GetWidthPoint(text, 8); Rectangle pageSize = document.PageSize; cb.SetRGBColorFill(100, 100, 100); cb.BeginText(); cb.SetFontAndSize(bf, 8); cb.SetTextMatrix(pageSize.GetLeft(40), pageSize.GetBottom(30)); cb.ShowText(text); cb.EndText(); cb.AddTemplate(template, pageSize.GetLeft(40) + len, pageSize.GetBottom(30)); cb.BeginText(); cb.SetFontAndSize(bf, 8); cb.ShowTextAligned(PdfContentByte.ALIGN_RIGHT, "Printed On " + PrintTime.ToString(), pageSize.GetRight(40), pageSize.GetBottom(30), 0); cb.EndText(); }

  • ASP.NET 4.0 UpdatePanel and UserControl with PlaceHolder

    - by Chris
    I don't know if this is ASP.NET 4.0 specific but I don't recall having this problem in previous versions. When I put an UpdatePanel inside this UserControl on the page the updatepanel only does full postbacks and not partial postbacks. What gives? • Mixing Objective-C and C++

    - by helixed
    Hello, I'm trying to mix together some Objective-C code with C++. I've always heard it was possible, but I've never actually tried it before. When I try to compile the code, I get a bunch of errors. Here's a simple example I've created which illustrates my problems: AView.h #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> #include "B.h" @interface AView : NSView { B *b; } -(void) setB: (B *) theB; @end AView.m #import "AView.h" @implementation AView - (id)initWithFrame:(NSRect)frame { self = [super initWithFrame:frame]; if (self) { // Initialization code here. } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)dirtyRect { // Drawing code here. } -(void) setB: (B *) theB { b = theB; } @end B.h #include <iostream> class B { B() { std::cout << "Hello from C++"; } }; Here's the list of errors I get when I try to compile this: /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/B.h:1:0 /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/B.h:1:20: error: iostream: No such file or directory /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/B.h:3:0 /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/B.h:3: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'B' /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.h:5:0 /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.h:5: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'B' /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.h:8:0 /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.h:8: error: expected ')' before 'B' /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.m:26:0 /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.m:26: error: expected ')' before 'B' /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.m:27:0 /Users/helixed/Desktop/Example/AView.m:27: error: 'b' undeclared (first use in this function) All I'm doing to compile this right now is using the default compiler built into Xcode. I didn't edit the Cocoa Application template in any way other than adding the two files I created and chaing the NSView to AView in the xib file. Could somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, helixed

    - by Mark
    I am having problems getting a databound radiobutton listbox in WPF to respond to user input and reflect changes to the data it's bound to (i.e., to making changes in the code). The user input side works fine (i.e., I can select a radiobutton and the list behaves as expected). But every attempt to change the selection in code fails. Silently (i.e., no exception). Here's the relevant section of the XAML (I think): <Setter Property="ItemContainerStyle"> <Setter.Value> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}" > <Setter Property="Margin" Value="2" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}"> <Border Name="theBorder" Background="Transparent"> <RadioButton Focusable="False" IsHitTestVisible="False" IsChecked="{Binding Path=IsSelected, RelativeSource={RelativeSource TemplatedParent}, Mode=TwoWay}" > <ContentPresenter /> </RadioButton> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </Setter.Value> I bind the listbox to a List of SchoolInfo objects. SchoolInfo contains a property called IsSelected: public bool IsSelected { get { return isSelected; } set { if( value != isSelected ) { isSelected = value; this.OnPropertyChanged("IsSelected"); } } } The OnPropertyChanged() stuff was something I put in during my experimentation. It doesn't solve the problem. Things like the following fail: ((SchoolInfo) lbxSchool.Items[1]).IsSelected = true; lbxSchool.SelectedIndex = 1; They fail silently -- no exception is thrown, but the UI doesn't show the item being selected. • WPF combobox loses Aero theme when using a style trigger

    - by Greg R
    I am using style triggers to change combo box to texbox if it's readonly, but for some reason when I apply the style, it cause the combobox theme to change from Aero to Windows Classic (the theme I currently have in use on my PC). Can I avoid this somehow? Here is my code: <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource AllCountries}}" SelectedValue="{Binding OrderInfoVm.BillingCountry}" DisplayMemberPath="Value" SelectedValuePath="Key" IsReadOnly="{Binding ReadOnlyMode}" Style="{StaticResource EditableDropDown}" /> <Style x:Key="EditableDropDown" TargetType="ComboBox"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsReadOnly" Value="True"> <Setter Property="SelectedValuePath" Value="Content" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="ComboBox"> <TextBox Text="{TemplateBinding SelectedValue, Converter={StaticResource StringCaseConverter}}" BorderThickness="0" Background="Transparent" FontSize="{TemplateBinding FontSize}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalAlignment}" FontFamily="{TemplateBinding FontFamily}" Width="{TemplateBinding Width}" TextWrapping="Wrap"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • Common vulnerabilities for WinForms applications

    - by David Stratton
    I'm not sure if this is on-topic or not here, but it's so specific to .NET WinForms that I believe it makes more sense here than at the Security stackexchange site. (Also, it's related strictly to secure coding, and I think it's as on-topic as any question asking about common website vulnerabiitles that I see all over the site.) For years, our team has been doing threat modeling on Website projects. Part of our template includes the OWASP Top 10 plus other well-known vulnerabilities, so that when we're doing threat modeling, we always make sure that we have a documented process to addressing each of those common vulnerabilities. Example: SQL Injection (Owasp A-1) Standard Practice Use Stored Parameterized Procedures where feasible for access to data where possible Use Parameterized Queries if Stored Procedures are not feasible. (Using a 3rd party DB that we can't modify) Escape single quotes only when the above options are not feasible Database permissions must be designed with least-privilege principle By default, users/groups have no access While developing, document the access needed to each object (Table/View/Stored Procedure) and the business need for access. [snip] At any rate, we used the OWASP Top 10 as the starting point for commonly known vulnerabilities specific to websites. (Finally to the question) On rare occasions, we develop WinForms or Windows Service applications when a web app doesn't meet the needs. I'm wondering if there is an equivalent list of commonly known security vulnerabilities for WinForms apps. Off the top of my head, I can think of a few.... SQL Injection is still a concern Buffer Overflow is normally prevented by the CLR, but is more possible if using non-managed code mixed in with managed code .NET code can be decompiled, so storing sensitive info in code, as opposed to encrypted in the app.config... Is there such a list, or even several versions of such a list, from which we can borrow to create our own? If so, where can I find it? I haven't been able to find it, but if there is one, it would be a great help to us, and also other WinForms developers.

  • Mixing Objective-C and C++

    - by helixed
    I'm trying to mix together some Objective-C code with C++.

Could anyone help me? Thanks! In Visual Studio it works but I need it works in QTCreator..

  • WiX 3: Using heat.exe to add bulk files to a new WiX project: HEAT5150

    - by Karen Kwong
    If this is a repeat question, please direct me to the existing solution. I wasn't able to find a matching query. We currently use InstallShield. I'm attempting to covert a project with 407 files to a WiX3 installation package. I tried using heat.exe to do some of the automation but I get the following warning for almost every file: c: heat dir "c:\projectDir\projectA" -gg -ke -template:Product -out "c:\install\projectA\heatOutput" heat.exe: warning HEAT5150 : Could not harvest data from a file that was expected to be a SelfReg DLL: c:\projectDir\projectA\plugin1.dll. If this file does not support SelfReg you can ignore this warning. Otherwise, this error detail may be helpful to diagnose the failure: Unable to load file: c:\projectDir\projectA\plugin1.dll, error: 126. Q: Is it normal for this warning to be reported for every file? If there's a current "How To create/convert to your first WiX install project with many files" tutorial, please point me to it. The key requirement is "with many files". Thank-you -Karen Kwong- PS. I know that WiX is designed for incremental install project creation but it would be nice to know if there's an automated way to convert existing install projects.
