• Bind multiple request parameters to one object in Spring 3

  Hi, I can't figure out a way to bind several arguments and headers to one request parameter using annotations in Spring 3. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? • Hudson plugins for visual svn

  Problem I have a hudson build server set up on a windows server 2008. We want to be able to commit to a repository and after the commit succeeds we want visual svn to send a message or a trigger to the hudson build server to let it know it needs to execute a build. We want it to build only when someone does a commit so we don't want to poll svn constantly because its not necessary. Question Is there a plugin for visual svn that can automatically send a message to hudson or is there a better way of doing this without using wget? I've tried using wget on the hudson build url in the post commit hook of visual svn but I realized that the post commit hooks can only be set for the entire repository and not individual projects in visual svn, so if we made a small change to a different project in the repository its going to tell hudson it needs to build even though no changes have occurred in the project that is linked with hudosn...

  I have 3 models class User < ... belongs_to :language has_many :posts end class Post < ... belongs_to :user belongs_to :language end class Language < ... has_many :users has_many :posts end Im going to be creating lots of posts via users and at the same time I have to also specify the language the post was written in, which is always the language associatd with the user i.e. @user.posts.create(:text => "blah", :language_id => @user.language_id) That's fine but the way I set the language doesn't sit well with me. The language will always be that of the users so is there a 'best-practice' way of doing this? I know a little about callbacks and association extensions but not sure of any pitfalls.

• ie6 p3p 'file download security warning'

  i have a page inside iframe, so i set the header to "P3P","CP=\"IDC DSP COR ADM DEVi TAIi PSA PSD IVAi IVDi CONi HIS OUR IND CNT\"" after that my page inside iframe able to load properly and i able to authenticate user with 'form' post . but on ie6, when i post 'form' inside iframe, i get ie6 message 'file download security warning on javascript file' . those javascript files are put on 'head' of pages inside iframe. how comes ie6 suddenly pop up dialog asking to download those files? anyone know which p3p parameter cause this problem?

• paypal IPN sends two different twice

  I've come across something a bit strange I was hoping someone with more experience with Paypal can explain, Specifically the IPN feature. It seems I'm getting two very different hits to my IPN listener. The first one always fails, The second one passes. Now I know Paypal tends to send duplicates, But what I've noticed is two very different $_POST arrays being recieved. For browser applications, this happens automatically by the browser, for non browser applications, it is pretty trivial to save the cookie and send it with each request. However, I have not figured out a good approach for doing the initial handshake from browser applications. For example, if this is all happening using a AJAX technique, what prevents the user from being able to access the ID/Pass the client is using to handshake with the service? It seem's like this is the only stumbling block to this approach and I'm stumped.

• Never render a layout in response to xhrs

  Most of the time I don't want to render a layout when the request comes from AJAX. To this end I've been writing render :layout => !request.xhr? frequently in my controller actions. How can I make this the default? I.e., I'd like to be able to write def new Post.find(params[:id]) end and have the functionality be def show Post.find(params[:id]) render :layout => !request.xhr? end (I'm fine manually specifying a layout in the rare cases in which I want to use one.)

• What would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

  Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> &lt;img src=&quot;http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk&quot; Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: &lt;img src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;post_img&quot; width=&quot;80&quot; (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points. • NSOutlineView with Drag and Drop

  I read the other post here on Outlineviews and DND, but I can't get my program to work. At the bottom of this post is a link to a zip of my project. Its very basic with only an outlineview and button. I want it to receive text files being dropped on it, but something is wrong with my code or connections. I tried following Apple's example code of their NSOutline Drag and Drop, but I'm missing something. 1 difference is my program is a document based program and their example isn't. I set the File's Owner to receive delegate actions, since that's where my code to handle drag and drop is, as well as a button action. Without .with it works just fine, but I want different return values for different arguments to the stub method. • Passing data between states PHP

  So I am using Limonade PHP which has a RESTful design which emulates PUT, POST, DELETE routes for create, update, delete. I am trying to develop some form validation which is going well. The major problem I am facing though is how to return my filtered data (which has failed validation) back to repopulate the create or edit form. How would this be done? I currently have for creating a page: /admin/page/new -> GET function /admin/page -> POST function + validate + pass, update db + fail, add errors to flash, redirect to /admin/page/mew It all falls down as I do not know how to populate the /admin/page/new with the invalid, but filtered data.

  Hi, I have a modal popup extender which is triggered by gridview onRowCommand. The gridview and the modal popup extender is in different updatePanel. The panel which assigned to PopupControlID of the mpe contains a textbox and a button. This button will triggered a page method web service that will return a value to be assigned to the textbox. My problem is when I click the button, after partial post back, the mpe disapper (hide). I tried everything to make it show. • Multiple records with one request in RESTful system

  All the examples I've seen regarding a RESTful architecture have dealt with a single record. For example, a GET request to mydomain.com/foo/53 to get foo 53 or a POST to mydomain.com/foo to create a new Foo. But what about multiple records? Being able to request a series of Foos by id or post an array of new Foos generally would be more efficient with a single API request rather than dozens of individual requests. Would you "overload" mydomain.com/foo to handle requests for both a single or multiple records? Or would you add a mydomain.com/foo-multiple to handle plural POSTs and GETs? I'm designing a system that may potentially need to get many records at once (something akin to mydomain.com/foo/53,54,66,86,87) But since I haven't seen any examples of this, I'm wondering if there's something I'm just not getting about a RESTful architecture that makes this approach "wrong".

  I'm serializing several objects into a single stream, but when i try to read them back, i can't seem to get anything but the last object: ProtoBuf.Serializer.Serialize(stream, postA1); ProtoBuf.Serializer.Serialize(stream, postB2); stream.Position = 0; var postA2 = ProtoBuf.Serializer.Deserialize<Post>(stream); var postB2 = ProtoBuf.Serializer.Deserialize<Post>(stream); The first deserialize moves the stream to the end and postA2 contains the value of postB2, while postB2 is just an uninitialized instance. Is this expected behavior, and if so, how do you deserialize an object from a random position in a stream?

• Best way to create preview functionality in Rails

  Hi all, I'm looking to implement preview functionality in my posts scaffold. All I need to do is allow a user to enter information in the new view (/posts/new) and then replace the submit button with a preview button. Once the preview button is clicked, the user is routed to the preview page (probably /posts/new/preview). If the user wants to make a change they would click 'go back' or if they are happy with the post they can then submit the post. I found this article (http://eyedeal.team88.org/node/105) but it seems dated. Any ideas on what the best approach for this would be? Many thanks, Tony

  In the code below, the echo at the top returns true, but the echo at the bottom returns nothing. • jQuery and CodeIgniter AJAX with JSON not working

  Hello, I trying to make my first AJAX with JSON call using jQuery and CodeIgniter. But for some weird reason it's not working. The jQuery code: var item = "COOL!"; $.post("http://192.168.8.138/index.php/main/test", { "item" : item }, function(data){ alert(data.result); }, "json"); The CodeIgniter code: <?php class main extends Controller { function test() { $item = trim($this->input->post('item')); $array = array('result' => $item); echo json_encode($array); } } ?> I tried to access the http://192.168.8.138/index.php/main/test page manually and it seems to be working, I got: {"result":""} I also tried to use Firebug to see XMLHttpRequest but saw nothing. • Full Width Divs using ScrollTo.js

  This is my first ever post. I am using the ScrollTo jQuery plugin and i have stumbled across a problem... I have 6 rows, each with 6 child divs , I would like each of these child divs to be full width. The plugin works great but I cannot seem to get the child div to be full width (then use ScrollTo to 'slide' to the next div, or to a div on the next row. ) Here is my code: http://jsfiddle.net/RZjrV/ Is it even possible? • Tracking Mouse Stop

  I am trying to track mouse movements in the browser, and if a user stops their mouse for 0.5 seconds, to execute some code. I have put a breakpoint in the code below in firebug, and it breaks on the var mousestop = function(evt) line, but then jumps to the return statement. Am I missing something simple? Why isn't it executing the POST statement? I am tracking mouse clicks in a similar way, and it posts to the server just fine. • How can I transform this haml into a table?

Right now, this renders as a set of buttons. I'd like to render it as a table, with each row clickable in the same way (ie, using the 'post' method, so that only the haml file has to be edited without touching the rest of the files). Ideally, I'd also like to be able to sort the table by name, time, or comments, but that might be getting ahead of myself. So how can I change this list of buttons into a table with clickable rows?

I tried $.competency but it didn't work. I always get a "competency is undefined" error. I had to reinitialize the variable once again inside the callback. Is there a way to NOT reinitialize the variable inside the callback?
