    I am new to Ubuntu. I downloaded the latest version of Blender (2.70a) from official blender.org site as an tar.bz2 file. My Ubuntu OS is 14.04 LTS amd64 bit os, and I am sure that I have downloaded the correct version of blender. I have read that for security reasons, Ubuntu does not allow executing exe files. Since the downloaded package contains blender as an executable/x-executable type, it is not able to execute. I do not have an internet connection in that computer too. Also the "Allow executing file as program" checkbox is checked by default. Still double clicking it does not execute the file. Can anyone say how to open this file? P.S: Wine also checked but requires active internet connection, which I dont have.

    I am using ubuntu 12.04 on my notebook and my primary internet connection is reliance netconnect. I want to share it on my android smartphone, but have no idea about sharing usb modem on linux. I was able to share the same on wondows 7 using the software provided by the notebook manufacturer. Again it's my bad luck that the manufacturer(Samsung) does not provides any driver or software for notebook for linux os they only provide it for windows os, but still some of the features work same as on windows without any driver or software. Please help me.

The issue is often time overblown as if you are running on a relational database the database vendor will provide tools or automated methods to convert the data properly. Oracle RMAN is often the first choice. Oracle imp/exp, data pump, and GoldenGate can also be used. Migrating to Linux on Dell A bigger issue would be applications that access OS files. These OS files will need to be converted from big endian (RISC) to little endian (CISC) and then the application may be impacted because of the endianess differences.

    I was recently assigned reading from the Tannenbaum-Torvalds debates in my OS class. In the debates, Tannenbaum makes several predictions: Microkernels are the future x86 will die out and RISC architectures will dominate the market (5 years from then) everyone will be running a free GNU OS I was a 1 year old when the debates happened, so I lack historical intuition. Why have these not panned out? It seems to me that from Tannenbaum's perspective, they're pretty reasonable predictions of the future. What happened so that they didn't come to pass?

After reading a couple of other forums that relates to this question, they say to use a 700MB CD which I am but again is not working.     I cant seem to open a new view from an options menu item. The program keeps crashing as it applies the intent and listener to the item. I am just beginning, so please be nice.     I am working with Qt's QWebView, and have been finding lots of great uses for adding to the webkit window object. One thing I would like to do is nested objects... for instance: in Javascript I can... var api = new Object; api.os = new Object; api.os.foo = function(){} api.window = new Object(); api.window.bar = function(){} obviously in most cases this would be done through a more OO js-framework.     I have a little popup menu that anchors on a button in the action bar. This works well on 3.0/3.1 Xoom and Galaxy tabs, and a 4.1 Nexus 7. However, on a 7" Fire HD (this one), I get an error about a leaked intent receiver when exiting the application. The error occurs only if the menu was not opened during that run. There is no mention of OrientationChangeListener in the one copy of the source I've found; I suspect Amazon has a different implementation. Questions: Has anyone encountered this? Does anyone know of a workaround or a fix? (Where) can I find Amazon's source code? Finally, (shudder) how important is it that I don't leak a receiver on application exit? The first one opens fine, but when I close it and do the process again to show a different one the app falls over with a memory error (it's running on a samsung galaxy s3 - so shouldnt be an issue).   • AIDL based two way communication

    I have two apps between which I want some data exchanged. As they are running in different processes, so, I am using AIDL to communicate between them. Now, everything is happening really great in one direction (say my apps are A and B) i.e. data is being sent from A to B but, now I need to send some data from B to A. I noticed that we need to include the app with the AIDL in the build path of app where the AIDL method will be called. So in my case A includes B in its build path. For B to be able to send something to A, by that logic, B would need A in its build path. This would create a cycle. I am stuck at this point. And I cannot think of a work around this loop. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) . Thanks! ----EDIT---- So, I following the advice mentioned in one of the comments below, I have the following code In the IPCAIDL project the AIDL file resides, its contents are package ipc.android.aidl; interface Iaidl{ boolean pushBoolean(boolean flag); } This project is being used as a library in both the IPCServer and the IPC Client. The IPCServer Project has the service which defines what happens with the AIDL method.
