Can anyone suggest either the (probably small) java method to represent this intention or a really good resource specifically about programming dynamic stuff in RichFaces using java? Naturally I've read the javadocs, but they don't give me a concrete example of some JSF, the associated backing bean java code, and a screen shot of the resulting component. It may be asking a bit much, but I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that with these three, I'd be able to understand the idea and apply it to many other component types in this family. The RF demo doesn't include dynamic panelMenus or drop downs so I'm a bit stumped.   I'm testing CeGCC, that is a gcc built to cross-compile applications to Windows CE devices.   All, I'm in the process now of building a SaaS tool that allows network admins to generate notification emails to the members of the end-users of our platform (among many many other things). I'm running into a bit of an "out of my expertise" wall, as I know there are a lot of variables involved with configuring an application that can: Run in a distributed way via load balancing and still-- Leverage a single mail server for sending notification emails Process unsubscribe requests Avoid any ISP blacklisting in the process. If anyone has the time and has done this before, I'd love if you could walk me through the A-Z of best practices both from a configuration perspective and an execution perspective for generating these emails (anything from necessary DNS settings to ideal SMTP setup and configuration) Currently, our application generates email via Google Apps using the PHPMailer class. While this works well, it doesn't queue messages (potential for timeout problems if any of our clients amass a very large list of end-users), and Google limits the amount of allowed generated email messages to 500/day. I know this is a lofty question, but any guidance you could provide would be smashing and a big help as we work through this hurtle in our beta development stage. Thanks!

  Hello, I am trying to use JTidy (jtidy-r938.jar) to sanitize an input HTML string, but I seem to have problems getting the default settings right. Often strings such as "hello world" end up as "helloworld" after tidying. I wanted to show what I'm doing here, and any pointers would be really appreciated: Assume that rawHtml is the String containing the input (real world) HTML. I created a MyComponent.dll assembly with deploytool from MATLAB 2010a, target framework - 3.5. But when I`m trying to deploy webfigure on my local iis 7.5 which runs on Win7 x32 - iis app pool crashes. There is an entry in System Event Log "A process serving application pool 'Classic .NET AppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '3676'. The data field contains the error number 6D000780". This happens when MyComponent is instantiating. What I could forget when moved to IIS? Other examples, like magic square console application, runs perfect, and every matlab component instantiating, but not in IIS environment.

• Iterating arrays in a batch file

  I am writing a batch file (I asked a question on SU) to iterate over terminal servers searching for a specific user. So, I got the basic start of what I'm trying to do. Enter a user name Iterate terminal servers Display servers where user is found (they can be found on multiple servers now and again depending on how the connection is lost) Display a menu of options Iterating terminal servers I have: for /f "tokens=1" %%Q in ('query termserver') do (set __TermServers.%%Q) Now, I am getting the error... Environment variable __TermServers.SERVER1 not defined ...for each of the terminal servers. This is really the only thing in my batch file at this point. Any idea on why this error is occurring? Obviously, the variable is not defined, but I understood the SET command to do just that. I'm also thinking that in order to continue working on the iteration (each terminal server), I will need to do something like: :Search for /f "tokens=1" %%Q in ('query termserver') do (call Process) goto Break :Process for /f "tokens=1" %%U in ('query user %%username%% /server:%%Q') do (set __UserConnection = %%C) goto Search However, there are 2 things that bug me about this: Is the %%Q value still alive when calling Process? When I goto Search, will the for-loop be starting over? I'm doing this with the tools I have at my disposal, so as much as I'd like to hear about PowerShell and other ways to do this, it would be futile. I have notepad and that's it. Note: I would continue this line of questions on SuperUser, except that it seems to be getting more into programming specifics.

I am given a dark screen where my message is displayed. • Setting an instanced class property overwrites the property in all instances.

  I have two instances of a class. Setting a property in the first instance will set it for the second instance too. Why? It shouldn't. The property is not a "prototype property". Check the code below, what happens to Peter Griffin? Two objects are created and given the name "Peter Griffin" and "Roger Moore" but the alert boxes will say "Peter Moore" and "Roger Moore". • Visual studio debug console sometimes stays open and is impossible to close

  Hey, Sometimes when I run an application from Visual Studio and it crashes or I stop it using the stop button in the debug menu (Debug-Stop Debugging (Shift-F5)), the console of said application stays open... and never closes. I cannot close it by clicking the 'x' button in the top right corner. I cannot kill the process as it is not even listed in taskmgr. I have seen this problem documented in different places on the web, but no solution so far. I am running on windows XP SP3, using visual studio 2008 w/ SP1. 1- What could be causing this ? 2- Is there a fix ? thanks alot. JC EDIT: There is no MyApp.vshost.exe process to close, and closing visual studio does not close the console either. Worse even, if I try to restart my computer windows will hang and never close, I need to do a forced shut down. EDIT #2 : (from Brad Sullivan, Program Manager - Visual Studio Debugger on March 2nd) [...] this issue is likely not in Visual Studio since it also occurs in scenarios where Visual Studio is not present. We are in the process of handing over our investigation to the Windows Servicing team. But for now, removing the KB978037 update and it's related files seems to work.

• How to use Scala in IntelliJ IDEA (or: why is it so difficult to get a working IDE for Scala)?

  I recently gave up trying to use Scala in Eclipse (basic stuff like completion doesn't work). So now I'm trying IntelliJ. I'm not getting very far. I've been able to edit programs (within syntax highlighting and completion... yay!). But I'm unable to run even the simplest "Hello World". This was the original error: Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar But that was yesterday with IDEA 9.0.1. See below... UPDATE Today I uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. Now everything works!!!

• Working with a large data object between ruby processes

  I have a Ruby hash that reaches approximately 10 megabytes if written to a file using Marshal.dump. After gzip compression it is approximately 500 kilobytes. Iterating through and altering this hash is very fast in ruby (fractions of a millisecond). Even copying it is extremely fast. The problem is that I need to share the data in this hash between Ruby on Rails processes. In order to do this using the Rails cache (file_store or memcached) I need to Marshal.dump the file first, however this incurs a 1000 millisecond delay when serializing the file and a 400 millisecond delay when serializing it. Ideally I would want to be able to save and load this hash from each process in under 100 milliseconds. One idea is to spawn a new Ruby process to hold this hash that provides an API to the other processes to modify or process the data within it, but I want to avoid doing this unless I'm certain that there are no other ways to share this object quickly. Is there a way I can more directly share this hash between processes without needing to serialize or deserialize it? Here is the code I'm using to generate a hash similar to the one I'm working with: @a = [] 0.upto(500) do |r| @a[r] = [] 0.upto(10_000) do |c| if rand(10) == 0 @a[r][c] = 1 # 10% chance of being 1 else @a[r][c] = 0 end end end @c = Marshal.dump(@a) # 1000 milliseconds Marshal.load(@c) # 400 milliseconds Update: Since my original question did not receive many responses, I'm assuming there's no solution as easy as I would have hoped. Presently I'm considering two options: Create a Sinatra application to store this hash with an API to modify/access it. Create a C application to do the same as #1, but a lot faster. The scope of my problem has increased such that the hash may be larger than my original example. So #2 may be necessary. But I have no idea where to start in terms of writing a C application that exposes an appropriate API. A good walkthrough through how best to implement #1 or #2 may receive best answer credit.

  I apologize if this has already been answered, but all the information out there on Facebook publishing is so confusing and conflicting, I haven't been able to get anything to work yet. I'm trying to set up an application that runs on my local server to publish content to my organization's fan page (this will tie in with my WCMS to cross-post content). I believe I want a Facebook Connect application to do this which I've set up properly in Facebook and gotten an application key and secret. Here's the code I'm trying to execute, but each time it's run I get "User has not authorized access" even if I'm just trying to publish to the application wall. • Determine whether .NET assemblies were built from the same source

  Does anyone know of a way to compare two .NET assemblies to determine whether they were built from the "same" source files? I am aware that there are some differencing utilities available, such as the plugin for Reflector, but I am not interested in viewing differences in a GUI, I just want an automated way to compare a collection of binaries to see whether they were built from the same (or equivalent) source files. I understand that multiple different source files could produce the same IL, and realise that the process would only be sensitive to differences in the IL, not the original source. The main obstacle to just comparing the byte streams for the two assemblies is that .NET includes a field called "MVID" (Module Version Identifier) the assembly. This appears to have a different value for every compilation, so if you build the same code twice the assembly will be different. A related question is, does anyone know how to force the MVID to be the same for each compilation? This would avoid us needing to have a comparison process that is insensitive to differences in the value of the MVID. A consistent MVID would be preferable, as this means that standard checksums could be used. The background behind this is that a third-party company is responsible for independently reviewing and signing off our releases, prior to us being permitted to release to Production. This includes reviewing the source code. They want to independently confirm that the source code we give them matches the binaries that we earlier built, tested and currently plan to deploy. We are looking for a process that allows them to independently build the system from the source we supply them with, and the compare the checksums against the checksums for the binaries we have tested. thanks

• SSL certificates: No Client certificate key exhange

  I am trying to access a WCF web service, that is using two way SSL encryption. When I try to call the service I get a System.ServiceModel.Security.SecurityNegotiationException: Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS with authority 'XXX.xx'. --- System.Net.WebException: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel. I have tried activating wire shark, to see what is sent to and from the server: I see a client hello and a server hello. But there is no client response to the server hello. I was expecting a "Certificate. Client key exchange. Change cipher. Encrypted handshake Message" package, but none is sent. I'm thinking it is a problem with the certificate sent by the server, that somehow my client server does not trusy it. Here is what I have already tried: I have created the certificate, through the proper authority, though I could have made a mistake in the certificate request without knowing it. I have added the two root certificates to: trusted root certificates, trusted publishers and trusted people. I have also added the client certificate to trusted people. My colleague has succeded in establishing connection on a win 2008 server (i'm using a 2003, because it is necessary for some odd reason - don't ask). I can't see any differences in our approach, so i'm a bit lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  That is a broad question, and I appreciate no short/dumb asnwers like: "Oh that is the model job, this quest is retarded (period)" PROBLEM Where I work at people created a system over 2 years for managing the manufacture process over demand in the most simplified still broad as possible, involving selling, buying, assemble, The system is coded over Ruby On Rails. The app has been changed lots of times and the result is a mess on callbacks (some are called several times), 200+ models, and fat controllers: Total bad. The QUESTION is, if there is a gem, or pattern designed to handle Rails large app logic? The logic whould be able to fully talk to models (whose only concern would be data format handling and validation) What I EXPECT is to reduce complexity from various controllers, and hard to track callbacks into files with the responsibility to handle a business operation logic. In some cases there is the need to wait for a response, in others, only validation of the input is enough and a bg process would take place. ie: -- Sell some products (need to wait the operation to finish) 1. Set a View able to get the products input 2. Controller gets the product list inputed by employee and call the logic Logic::ExecuteWithResponse('sell', 'products', :prods => @product_list_with_qtt, :when => @date, :employee => current_user() ) This Logic would handle buying order, assemble order, machine schedule, warehouse reservation, and others. Have in mind that a callback on SalesOrder is not enough, since it depends on where it is called (no field for that), depends on the class of the user, among other stuff not visible for the model, or in some cases it would take long for the model to process.
