They go to compare it with ASP.NET WebForms and how difficult it is to test the code behind in WebForms.   • ASP.NET LINQ to SQL SubmitChanges() doesn't update the database

    In my 2nd ASP.NET MVC project I'm facing a very weird problem: when I call the SubmitChanges method of the DataContext class, nothing updates in the database. It's weird because everything works fine with my first project. I'm using a remote database created in Sql Server Management Studio, I tried doing some queries there and in Visual Studio 2010 (where I have the connection to the database), they all work. Where might the problem be hidden?

    I have a .net application which needs to expose a service consumed by a java client. The service can't be public. There should be some authentication mechanism for the client. What is the best way to do this? I'm new to web services and am confused by all the soap, wsdl etc. and have also heard a lot that it'll be a pain to get the two to communicate. Your thoughts?

Expanding this revealed the following: The following cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime: Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources: <a long list of images > <some javascript files > How do I go about lengthening the "freshness lifetime" of particular images?     Hi all, I have created a basic chart in VB.NET (VS 2008) and it is working good, but I would like to label the axies of the chart. The method "AxisLabel" is not what I am looking for. I want to put the word "Dollars" vertically on the far left hand side of my chart (just left of the numbers labeling the "y" axis) and the word "Months" horizontally at the bottom of the chart but above the legend (just below the numbers labeling the "x" axis).   • Cannot set textbox value in Callback handler in asp.net

    I am using ASP.NET Callbacks (that implements the ICallbackEventHandler) and in the handler, I try to set a value of the text box: txtName.text = "Test"; but this value is not set. Is this a limitation with callback? It appears I cannot do much in a callback handler other than sending back a string to the client side (ofcourse I can access the Session etc)
