• How to Always Load Internet Explorer 9 in Full Screen Mode

  Internet Explorer 9 has a minimal interface by default, with the tab bar and the toolbar and address bar on the same line. However, you can gain even more viewable space by pressing F11 to go to full screen mode. If you like full screen mode and want to use it most of the time, you can have Internet Explorer open in that mode automatically, by editing a setting in the registry. To begin, enter “regedit” (without the quotes) in the Search box on the Start menu. When the results display, click regedit.exe or press Enter when it’s highlighted. NOTE: Before making changes to the registry, be sure you back it up. We also recommend creating a restore point you can use to restore your system if something goes wrong.   When users come directly to domain.com or www.domain.com, I am redirecting them to shop.domain.com via this .htaccess rewrite: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://shop.domain.com/ [R=301,L] The content served by shop.domain.com has the following tracking code parameters: var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-123456-6']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', '.domain.com']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); All direct visits that come to shop.domain.com as a result of the rewrite from domain.com are tracked as referral traffic, showing my own domain.com as referral source in Google Amalytics. • Does code-generation increase the code quality?

  Arguing for code-generation I am looking for some reasons, if howsoever, code generation increases the code quality, respectively is in favor for quality insurance. To clarify what I mean with code-generation I can talk only about a project of mine: We use XML files to describe different relationships, in fact our database schema. These XML files are used to generate our ORM framework and HTML forms which can be used to add, delete and modify entities. To my mind, it increases the quality, as the human error is reduced. If someone was implemented wrong, it is broken in the model. This is good, because the error might appear a lot faster, as more generated code is broken, too.

• Oracle collaborates with leading IT vendors on Cloud Management Standards

  During the last couple of days, two key specifications for cloud management standards have been announced. Oracle collaborated with leading technology vendors from the IT industry on both of these cloud management specifications. One of the specifications focuses "Infrastructure as a Service" ( IaaS )  cloud service model , while the other specification announced today focuses on "Platform as a Service" ( PaaS ) cloud service model. Earlier today Oracle , CloudBees, Cloudsoft, Huawei, Rackspace, Red Hat, and Software AG   announced the Cloud Application Management for Platforms (CAMP) specification that will be submitted to Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) for development of an industry standard, in an effort to help ensure interoperability for deploying and managing applications across cloud environments.  Typical PaaS architecture - Source : CAMP specification The CAMP specification defines the artifacts and APIs that need to be offered by a PaaS cloud to manage the building, running, administration, monitoring and patching of applications in the cloud. Its purpose is to enable interoperability among self-service interfaces to PaaS clouds by defining artifacts and formats that can be used with any conforming cloud and enable independent vendors to create tools and services that interact with any conforming cloud using the defined interfaces. Cloud vendors can use these interfaces to develop new PaaS offerings that will interact with independently developed tools and components. In a separate cloud standards announcement yesterday, the Distributed Management Task Force ( DMTF ), the organization bringing the IT industry together to collaborate on systems management standards development, validation, promotion and adoption, released the new Cloud Infrastructure Management Interface (CIMI) specification. Oracle collaborated with various technology vendors and industry organizations on this specification. CIMI standardizes interactions between cloud environments to achieve interoperable cloud infrastructure management between service providers and their consumers and developers, enabling users to manage their cloud infrastructure use easily and without complexity. DMTF developed CIMI as a self-service interface for infrastructure clouds ( IaaS focus ) , allowing users to dynamically provision, configure and administer their cloud usage with a high-level interface that greatly simplifies cloud systems management. • Will TSQL become useless because of new ORMs? [closed]

  By introducing LINQ to SQL, I found myself and my .NET developer colleagues gradually moving from TSQL to C# to create queries on the database. Entity Framework made that shift almost permanent. Now it's nearly 2 years that I use LINQ to SQL and LINQ to Entities and haven't used TSQL that much. Yesterday, a colleague encountered a problem (he had to create a SP) and we went to help him. But we all found that our TSQL knowledge was diminished for sure, and a simple SP that seemed trivial to us 2 or 3 years ago, was a challenge to be solved yesterday. Thus it came to my mind that while TSQL's life is attached to SQL Server, and logically as long as SQL Server lives and doesn't change it's SQL language, TSQL would also live, practically it might die, and soon very few people might know it. Am I right? Do existence of ORMs like Entity Framework threaten TSQL's life and usability?

• Accessing Server-Side Data from Client Script: Using WCF Services with jQuery and the ASP.NET Ajax Library

  Today's websites commonly exchange information between the browser and the web server using Ajax techniques - the browser executes JavaScript code typically in response to the page loading or some user action. This JavaScript makes an asynchronous HTTP request to the server. which then processes the request and, perhaps, returns data that the browser can then seamlessly integrate into the web page. • ClickThrough on Google Webmaster Tool and Traffic Source in Google Analytics

  I'm new to SEO and website management, but eager to learn. I manage a newly revamped site and I'm tracking it on Google Analytics and in Google Webmaster tools. The Webmaster tools show that I get about 3200 impressions and 180 click through's a week. Google Analytics show that no traffic comes from search engins, all of the traffic is direct. On average, I get about 60-80 visitors a day, shouldn't Google Analytics show at least a few of those visitors as having come from the search engines?. What does that discrepancy mean? I can't seem to wrap my mind around it... Thank you in advance, Svetlana

• JPA/EclipseLink multitenancy screencast

  I find JPA and in particular EclipseLink 2.3 to be particularly well suited to illustrate the concept of multitenancy, one of the key PaaS features en route for Java EE 7. Here's a short (5-minute) screencast showing GlassFish 3.1.1 (due out real soon now) and its EclipseLink 2.3 JPA provider showing multitenancy in action. In short, it adds EclipseLink annotations to a JPA entity and deploys two identical applications with different tenant-id properties defined in the persistence.xml descriptor. Each application only sees its own data, yet everything is stored in the same table which was augmented with a discriminator column. For more advanced uses such as tenant property being set on the @PersistenceContext, XML configuration of multitenant JPA entities, and more check out the nicely written wiki page.

• Application Lifecycle Management with Visual Studio 2010 – Wrox Book

  After running with a somewhat disconnected set of tools (vs 2008, Ontime, sharepoint 2007) for managing our projects we decided to make the move to Team Foundation Server 2010.  With limited coverage of the product available online i went in search of a book and found this… View this book on the Wrox website I must point out that i have only read 10 of the 26 chapters so far, mainly the ones that cover source code control, work item tracking and database projects.  This enables our dev team to get familiar with it before switching project management over at a future date. Needless to say i am very impressed with the detail it provides, answering pretty much every question i had about TFS so far.  I'm looking forward to digging into the sections on testing, code analysis and architecture. Highly recommended.

  MySQL Connector/Net 6.4.6, a new version of the all-managed .NET driver for MySQL has been released.  This is a maintenance release and is recommended for use in production environments. It is appropriate for use with MySQL server versions 5.0-5.6. This is intended to be the final release for Connector/NET 6.4.
