click event working in Chrome but error in Firefox and IE

I am writing a messaging system with jquery. When you click on a thread title with the class '.open_message', It opens a thread with all the messages for that thread via Ajax. My issue is that when the thread title is clicked it is not recognizing the id attribute for that specific thread title in firefox and IE. It works fine in chrome, though. How to structure Javascript programs in complex web applications?

Hi there. I have a problem, which is not easily described. I'm writing a web application that makes heavy usage of jquery and ajax calls. Now I don't have experience in designing the architecture for javascript programms, but I realize that my program has not a good structure. I think I have to many identifiers referring to the same (at least more or less) thing. Let's have an exemplary look at an arbitrary UI widget: The eventhandlers use DOM elements as parameters. The DOM element represents a widget in the browser. A lot of times I use jQuery objects (I think they are basically a wrapper around DOM elements) to do something with the widget. Sometimes they are used transiently, sometimes they are stored in a variable for later purposes. The ajax function calls use strings identifiers for these widgets. They are processed server side. Beside that I have a widget class whose instances represents a widget. It is instantiated through the new operator. Now I have somehow four different object identifiers for the same thing, which needs to be kept in sync until the page is loaded anew. This seems not to be a good thing. Any advice?

Doing a DELETE request from <a> tag without constructing forms?

Is there any way to force an <a href> to do a delete request when clicked instead of a regular GET? The "Rails" way is to dynamically generate a <form> tag that adds the appropriate params so that it gets routed to the right place, however I'm not too fond of that much DOM manipulation for such a simple task. Note: Please don't recommend that I use the rails :method => :delete on link_to, as I'm trying to get away from using the rails helpers in many senses as they pollute your DOM with obtrusive javascript. I'd like this solution to be put in an external JS file and be included as needed.

JQM Nested Popups

I am having a hard time with the new Alpha release of JQM not showing nested popups. For example, I am displaying a popup form that the user is supposed to fill out, if the server side validation fails, I want to display an error popup. I am finding that the error popup is not being shown. Hi I have the following html: <p> <input type="text" name="field2" /> <input type="hidden" name="fieldh2"/> <button type="button" class="sendInfo">Send</button> </p> What I want is that when user clicks the button, I need to send using ajax the contents of the field field. This is what i'm trying to do with no success. $(function() { $('button.sendInfo').live('click', function() { var id = $(this).parent().next('[type=text]').val(); alert(id); }); }); I plan to set what the user types in textbox to the hidden field, and the value received from the ajax call to normal textbox. But the problem is that i can´t even get the value of the textbox that is in the same line as the button the user clicks. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot.

(this already works) On success, I want to execute the python script to resize the image.
