  • How can I automatically restore all open PDF files after rebooting in Windows?

    I've tried using "Cache My Work" (http://cachemywork.codeplex.com/), but unfortunately, it only restores one instance of a program that was open upon rebooting. So when I have five separate Adobe Acrobat Pro windows open (each with its own PDF document), when I reboot, Cache My Work will only reopen one of them (not sure how CMW chooses which PDF to reopen, either). Besides switching to another PDF program (like one with tabs), is there a program that can do this?

  • Hyper-V Server Management from Windows 8.1

    Is there a way to manage a Hyper-V cluster that runs on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter from a Windows 8.1 Pro workstation? I've downloaded and installed the Remote Server Admin Tools for 8.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39296), but when I enable the Hyper-V manager, it tells me that I can't manage Hyper-V servers on 2K8 or 2K8R2. Related, the Failover Cluster Manager barfs with a similar error. How do I manage my old servers with my new workstation?

  • Recovered folders from Camera show as JPEG files and can can't be viewed.

    I have recovered a CCTV camera hard disk after a crash and have managed to get most of the data using EasyRecovery Pro. The problem is now that all the data that I have recovered appear like File09.JPG with and image icon in windows XP, but the files can't be viewed in any JPEG viewer software. I suspect that the .JPG files are indeed folders, but I can't force windows XP the change the file type. Very Odd. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Hoo

    My admin share C$ has been removed causing our server managed security - Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, to stop updating this client because it is unable to create local tasks. I've searched for two days now, lots of stuff about disabling C$ or allowing network access via a regedit - but nothing about restoring a missing "default admin share C$". OK I can recreate C$ from the mmc but it's removed on a reboot. System is Win7 Pro 64-bit on a domain Very grateful for any help... Nick

    I am working on my MacBook Pro. In the office I have 1 27" Monitor attached to it, at home I tend to work without an second monitor. For that setup I want to change the wallpaper if no 2nd monitor is attached. Is there a app that helps me do that? Can I do this with applescript without manual activating that script?

  • Can't use Bootcamp partition for Windows 8 installation

    I'm trying to install Windows 8 with Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro. Sadly it won't let me get past the disk partition choice (even after formatting the Bootcamp-drive). It says: Windows can't be installed on this storage device. The chosen harddisk contains a MBR-partition-table. Windows can only be installed on GPT-harddisks on EFI-systems. freely translated What is going wrong here? Here's a photo:

  • Need USB drivers for Nexus One and Mac Snow Leopard?

    I got a AT&T compatible Nexus One that I'm trying to connect to my Mac Book Pro (Snow Leopard) for development. When I do an adb devices, it doesn't appear, and I can't do an adb install either. Until today, I've been using a G1 and I haven't had any issues. I haven't placed a SIM in the phone yet, but I don't think that should matter.

  • How can I bring my IBM T60 out of sleep mode?

    XP Pro - SP3. My IBM Thinkpad t60 goes into sleep, or hibernation? and I cannot wake it up, no matter what keys I press. This includes pressing Fn plus F4 ( with the half moon). The only method I've found is to do a hard reset, and this causes other problems. Is there another way? Thanks for any direction.

    Hi I've just finished installing Visual Studio 2010 professional onto Vista. But don't seem to have Silverlight 4. If I try to create a new project I can see Silverlight project templates but only seem to be able to target Silverlight 3. Is Silverlight 4 not part of vs2010 pro by default? I also noticed the msbuild targets is missing ie the v4.0 folder doesn't exist at the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\Silverlight\ Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated.     I have this problem with my graphic-card(video card). Video card constantly crash because driver stopped. This is the massage that i get: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver , Version 285.62 stopped responding and has successfully recovered. Video card : MSI GTX470 Twin Frozr Motherboard:Asus P8Z68 V-Pro Tried reinstalling drivers but doesn't help. Any ideas what can be ?

  • ATX power: 20 or 24 pins?

    What is the difference between 20-pins ATX power cables and 24-pins ATX power cables for motherboard? I see that Cooler Master Silent Pro PSU has an extensible plug, showing 20 pins + 4 pluggable pins. Since I'm having troubles with my motherboard, which has 24 pins, I tried to connect only the first 20 and the system booted up fine. I'm curious: can any ATX motherboard run with 20-pins power? Will I simply experience lower performance?

  • How do I fix this strange Windows 7 menu behavior?

    On my Windows 7 64bit Pro install, for no apparent reasons, all menus suddenly align with their right side lined up with the menu item, rather than the traditional left side. This happens regardless of what may be crowding the screen or menus. If I maximize the app, all the first sets of menu items will open with their menu slammed against the left side of the screen. Anyone have any idea what this might be or how I can revert to default behavior?

  • Database Table Prefixes

    We're having a few discussions at work around the naming of our database tables. We're working on a large application with approx 100 database tables (ok, so it isn't that large), most of which can be categorized in to different functional area, and we're trying to work out the best way of naming/organizing these within an Oracle database. The three current options are: Create the different functional areas in separate schemas. Create everything in the same schema but prefix the tables with the functional area Create everything in the same schema with no prefixes We have various pro's and con's around each one but I'd be interested to hear everyone's opinions on what the best solution is.

Feedback has been quite good and constructive, and I am very motivated to continue my work.
