    Given that, on the ARM Cortex M3, I can: atomically read a single bit atomically set a single bit atomically clear a single bit How can I combine these for a mutex style set of operations: try lock take lock release lock It seems that try_lock or take_lock would require two operations that would not be atomic. Do I need more control to accomplish this? Disable global interrupts would do it but it seems there should be a more surgical approach.

    I wanted to convert some xml to a magazine like pdf document. A lot like what Latext allows you to do however i was not able to find any new books or online tutorials on the subject. Is it worth investing in using this technology or not? Also, I looked at the Apache XSL-FO project and their last release was in august 2008. p.s. commercial packages are not an option :(

  • Revision Materals, other than book, for MCTS 70-536 Exam

    Does anyone have any recommendations on revision materials for the MCTS 70-536 exam other than the monstrosity that is the official book? I am finding it very difficult to absorb the amount of information in the book in such a passive way (i.e just reading) it's not going in. My current approach has been to use the practise tests and make notes on the questions I was unsure about but given the wide varity of questions that could come up I am not sure if this is the correct way to do things. So is there someone with more condensed, bite-size, information to take in. Maybe videos or podcasts? Cheers!

    Is there any point at all on inheriting from Type class in .Net? i.e. What could be the meaning of doing so? I am asking this because of this text in MSDN documentation: Notes to Inheritors When you inherit from Type, you must override the following members... list of members. MSDN doc for Type: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.type.aspx ok, that is actually saying that anyone can inherit from Type... but they dont say why would you ever want to do that.   • Programatically setting castor properites in version 1.3

    Hello, I am trying to programmatically set the org.exolab.castor.indent property when marshalling some objects - however, contrary to the documentation published, the class org.exolab.castor.util.LocalConfiguration does not seem to be shipped with the 1.3 release. Currently, I have specified the castor.properties file on the classpath, which is picking up the properties I want to set, but I would rather reduce this deployment overhead, as my indentation requirement is not likely to change. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    I need to have an autocomplete functionality using jquery, and I've encountered ZendX_JQuery which has such functionality available. However, I've noticed that the entire ZendX_JQuery classes, are a bit old (the default jquery version is 1.3.2, and jquery ui 1.7.1). (see http://framework.zend.com/svn/framework/extras/branches/release-1.10/library/ZendX/JQuery.php) Should I use that instead of my own written code to include the jquery library and etc., and should I use the ZendX_JQuery_View_Helper_AutoComplete class for such functionality ?

    Is there any way to know if you program has undefined behavior in C++ (or even C), short of memorizing the entire spec? The reason I ask is that I've noticed a lot of cases of programs working in debug but not release being due to undefined behavior. It would be nice if there were a tool to at least help spot UB, so we know there's the potential for problems.

    The end result is very simple, I have to have something happen when a user types in the letter "n" "o" "t" "e" in that order. 'Note' is the word. I'm making a little application for a friend that will help him take notes, and I want my application to become visible when he types in "note" from anywhere on the machine. MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; [myWindow addSubview:viewController.view]; [viewController release]; As I understand, myWindow should be retaining viewController.view for as long as the window needs it. So why does this cause my app to crash on launch? (commenting out the last line fixes the problem, as expected)

  • Recursive SQL giving ORA-01790

    Using Oracle 11g release 2, the following query gives an ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression: with intervals(time_interval) AS (select trunc(systimestamp) from dual union all select (time_interval + numtodsinterval(10, 'Minute')) from intervals where time_interval < systimestamp) select time_interval from intervals; The error suggests that the datatype of both subqueries of the UNION ALL are returning different datatypes. Even if I cast to TIMESTAMP in each of the subqueries, then I get the same error. What am I missing?

  • Java 6 ScriptEngine and JSON.parse problem

    The Rhino release that is included in Java 6 ScriptEngine does not have a JSON parser. I've tried including crockfords JSON2.js in my script on the scriptengine.eval(). When I try to do the JSON.parse, it ends up giving me a script error that .replace is an unknown function. .replace is referenced several places in JSON2, and it works fine inside a browser (IE7, IE8, FF3). Anyone see this and have a suggestion?

    I'm reviewing my notes for my course on theory of computation and I'm having trouble understanding how to complete a certain proof. Here is the question: A = {0^n 1^m 0^n | n>=1, m>=1} Prove that A is not regular. It's pretty obvious that the pumping lemma has to be used for this. So, we have |vy| = 1 |vxy| <= p (p being the pumping length, = 1) uv^ixy^iz exists in A for all i = 0 Trying to think of the correct string to choose seems a bit iffy for this. I was thinking 0^p 1^q 0^p, but I don't know if I can obscurely make a q, and since there is no bound on u, this could make things unruly.. So, how would one go about this?

I'm probably doing something really obviously dumb? Any insights/suggestions will be appreciated.
