• How to login to wordpress programmatically?

  I need to perform some action in wordpress admin panel programmatically but can't manage how to login to Wordpress using C# and HttpWebRequest. All requests which I perform after that code also return HTML source of login page so I can assume that it does not login correctly. Can anybody help me to solve that problem or give working example? Main thing which I want to achieve is scanning for new images in Nextgen Gallery plugin for Wordpress. Is there XML-RPC way of doing that? Thanks in advance.

• Is this fix to "PostSharp complains about CA1800:DoNotCastUnnecessarily" the best one?

  This question is about "is" and "as" in casting and about CA1800 PostSharp rule. I want to know if the solution I thought is the best one possible or if it have any problem that I can't see. I have this code (named OriginaL Code and reduced to the minimum relevant). The function ValidateSubscriptionLicenceProducts try to validate a SubscriptionLicence (that could be of 3 types: Standard,Credit and TimeLimited ) by casting it and checking later some stuff (in //Do Whatever). PostSharp complains about CA1800:DoNotCastUnnecessarily. The reason is that I am casting two times the same object to the same type. This code in best case will cast 2 times (if it is a StandardLicence) and in worst case 4 times (If it is a TimeLimited Licence). • Why isn't pyinstaller making me an .exe file?

  I am attempting to follow this guide to make a simple Hello World script into an .exe file. I have Windows Vista with an AMD 64-bit processor I have installed Python 2.6.5 (Windows AMD64 version) I have set the PATH (if that's the right word) so that the command line recognizes Python I have installed UPX (there only seems to be a 32-bit version for Windows) and pasted a copy of upx.exe into the Python26 folder as instructed. I have installed Pywin (Windows AMD 64 Python 2.6 version) I have run Pyinstaller's Configure.py. It gives some error messages but seems to complete. • Why can't WordPress create directories when uploading themes?

  I can't workout how to solve this problem so wordpress would let me upload themes. I have a fresh copy of Fedora 17 installed on my dev machine. I then installed mysql using: yum install mysql mysql-server. Next I installed WordPress which also installs apache and php: yum install wordpress I can go to http://localhost/wordpress and see WordPress working. But when I try tried to install my theme it asked for ftp credentials. I then updated the wp-config.php file and set the FS_METHOD constant to direct. Now it doesn't ask for ftp credentials but it gives me this error: Could not create directory. /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/themes/my-theme-name/ httpd service is running under 'apache' user and 'apache' group. The /usr/share/wordpress/ directory is recursively own by 'apache' user and 'apache' group too. I've even set the permissions to 777 (also recursively) and even then I keep getting the same error as above. How can I solve this problem?

• Password Protected Wordpress MU

  I have a MU site related to Doctors and they will be publishing information that I cannot let outside sources and robots view. Is there a way that when you go to the main domain url, it shows a user/pass login for WP. I would set up the user/pass in the backend. Then they would login, then be able to view the website? I can't have it load up for anyone, I need the website to be password protected to even view the website in general. I know I can use .htaccess to have a user/pass, but it would be ideal to use the user/pass generated by WP so I don't have to mess with code when I create a user. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• What's a reliable and practical way to protect software with a user license ?

  I know software companies use licenses to protect their softwares, but I also know there are keygen programs to bypass them. I'm a Java developer, if I put my program online for sale, what's a reliable and practical way to protect it ? How about something like this, would it work ? <1> I use ProGuard to protect the source code. <2> Sign the executable Jar file. <3> Since my Java program only need to work on PC [I need to use JDIC in it], I wrap the final executable Jar into an .exe file which makes it harder to decompile. <4> When a user first downloads and runs my app, it checks for a Pass file on his PC. <5> If the Pass file doesn't exist, run the app in demo mode, exits in 5 minutes. <6> When demo exits a panel opens with a "Buy Now" button. This demo mode repeats forever unless step <7> happens. <7> If user clicks the "Buy Now" button, he fills out a detailed form [name, phone, email ...], presses a "Verify Info" button to save the form to a Pass file, leaving license Key # field empty in this newly generated Pass file. <8> Pressing "Verify Info" button will take him to a html form pre-filled with his info to verify what he is buying, also hidden in the form's input filed is a license Key number. He can now press a "Pay Now" button to goto Paypal to finish the process. <9> The hidden license Key # will be passed to Paypal as product Id info and emailed to me. <10> After I got the payment and Paypal email, I'll add the license Key # to a valid license Key list, and put it on my site, only I know the url. The list is updated hourly. <11> Few hours later when the user runs the app again, it can find the Pass file on his PC, but the license Key # value is empty, so it goes to the valid list url to see if its license Key # is on the list, if so, write the license Key # into the Pass file, and the next time it starts again, it will find the valid license Key # and start in purchased mode without exiting in 5 minutes. <12> If it can't find its license Key # on the list from my url, run in demo mode. <13> In order to prevent a user from copying and using another paid user's valid Pass file, the license Key # is unique to each PC [I'm trying to find how], so a valid Pass file only works on one PC. Only after a user has paid will Paypal email me the valid license Key # with his payment. <14> The Id checking goes like this : Use the CPU ID : "CPU_01-02-ABC" for example, encrypt it to the result ID : "XeR5TY67rgf", and compare it to the list on my url, if "XeR5TY67rgf" is not on my valid user list, run in demo mode. If it exists write "XeR5TY67rgf" into the Pass File license field. In order to get a unique license Key, can I use his PC's CPU Id ? Or something unique and useful [ relatively less likely to change ]. If so let's say this CPU ID is "CPU_01-02-ABC", I can encrypt it to something like "XeR5TY67rgf", and pass it to Paypal as product Id in the hidden html form field, then I'll get it from Paypal's email notification, and add it to the valid license Key # list on the url. So, even if a hacker knows it uses CPU Id, he can't write it into the Pass file field, because only encrypted Ids are valid Ids. And only my program knows how to generate the encrypted Ids. And even if another hacker knows the encrypted Id is hidden in the html form input field, as long as it's not on my url list, it's still invalid. Can anyone find any flaw in the above system ? Is it practical ? And most importantly how do I get hold of this unique ID that can represent a user's PC ? Frank

  hi, I am developing a class library (C#) that i will use it for my different projects (later). My class library dll will use the connection string /data context of the project which will reference my new dll. How can i do it? Lets say i have a class Library Project named "CLP", and a website project "WP". I can add reference to CLP.dll file but how i will pass a connection string/data context object to that dll? as CLP.dll will access db based on the connection string of the "WP". Not sure my problem is clear or not!

  Hello Everyone, I was working on a site of Cakephp which was successfully delivered.But recently Client again appered and asked me to put the Wordpress blog in it,to cover up the Blogging thing in his site.He wants to share the authentication between the Cakephp and WP.Whoever registers in his site,then Logins in it and if he clicks on the Blog Tab,he must be redirected to the WP blog with the session still there.After some googling I have installed it in /app/webroot/blog folder but I am not able to edit the .htaccess file. Please help me in the right direction,that how to share the authentication betwenn Cake Php and Wordpress, and the second one how to customize the .htaccess file so that URL's look good. • Wordpress Site: Can't logout or post comment

  I need help with my site http://VelvetArt.net. I can´t logout, post a comment, and when i put index.php after site adress, is does not work too, it just displays white screen. I have this theme also on my test site http://velvetart.lnb.sk. All working here, logout, index, comments.. Maybe the problem may be with wordpress default files (index.php, wp-blog-header.php, wp-comments-post.php) but i don't know how to solve this issue. Can anyone help me with this please?

• WordPress MU: Login from main page but not individual blogs

  I recently upgraded to WPMU 2.8.6 and ever since, my users can't log in on their individual blogs, but they can log in from the main page. My site is at blogs.mtwp.net (we're a school district). So if a user goes to blogs.mtwp.net/BLOGNAME/wp-login.php, their password is rejected. If they go toblogs.mtwp.net/wp-login.php, they can log in and get to the dashboard from there. But it's not all users. Site admins can get in just fine. We're using wpDirAuth 1.4 if that makes a difference. Honestly, I'm stumped. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

• @font-face and CSS3 working locally but not on hosting

  Hello chaps and chapettes, I've got a bit of a strange one for you (so to speak). I've devised a little 'coming soon' page for my site which, locally, (on a WAMP setup) is working flawlessly - in capable browsers (i.e. Chrome and Safari), the page looks fine and has a nice little CSS3 transition effect upon hover. And in other browsers, the page visibly looks (practically) identical and the hover effect still works, just without the transition. After uploading to my hosting, the site still looks fine and works fine in Chrome and Safari, but for some reason in Firefox, the @font-face declarations don't seem to have worked and in IE the layout is slightly different. I'm massively puzzled! The files are identical on my hosting to what I have locally.   I want to create a custom page for my Wordpress blog that will execute my php code in it, whilst remaining a part of the overall site css/theme/design. The php code will make use of 3rd party APIs (so I need to include other php files) How do I accomplish this? N.B. I do not have a specific need to interact with the Wordpress API - apart from including certain other php libs I need I have no other dependencies in the PHP code I want to include in a WP page. So obviously any solution that didn't require learning the WP api would be the best one.

• Moving Wordpress from Apache to IIS

  I've encountered a problem when moving a Wordpress installation from a Linux Apache server to a Windows IIS server. Nearly all pages load blank, including /wp-admin/. I created a php file in the main directory to check phpinfo, and it loads fine. I've copied the file system over, as well as the database. I've also updated the wp-config.php with the correct credentials. I think it has something to do with .htaccess, but I'm not sure how to correct it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Wordpress: Not able to retrieve css for new plugin in admin mode

  I'm creating a new plugin which will have it's own css file. The css file resides in the root folder of the plugin. In the plugin section of the admin interface, I have added a few text fields fields. But the CSS is not applied.   Hi, I've looked everywhere and while there is solutions to change the uploads directory for all the blogs by changing this line in the wp-settings.php: define( "BLOGUPLOADDIR", WP_CONTENT_DIR . "/blogs.dir/{$wpdb->blogid}/files/" ); I can't find a way of changing the directory for each blog individually, something like: define( "BLOGUPLOADDIR", WP_CONTENT_DIR . "/blogs.dir/{$blog_name}/files/" ); But I have no idea how could I get the name of the blog from within the wp-settings.php as you can't use get_bloginfo('name'); outside of the template.   I'm getting the following error while uploading a zip archive. • Suddenly Facebook API stopped working on Windows Phone

  My code hasn't changed, it was working yesterday or so. I can oauth, get the token but then doing the following: WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += result; wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri("https://graph.facebook.com/me&access_token=xxxTOKENxxx", UriKind.Absolute)); Returns a NotFound WebClient exception: "The remote server returned an error: NotFound." Strange thing is that when pasting that same url on Chrome or IE it does work(PC). Tried on Emulator and on 2 different real WP devices, even pasting the same url on the WP browser. Feels like facebook is rejecting Windows Phone for some reason? Anyone has an idea of what might be happening?

  I have a wordpress site that i've been working on that has some pages (as in NOT posts) that a client changes content on in order to target particular keywords. these pages have been using podscms for content management. The client now wants to be able to duplicate these pages any number of times and edit the text within them. So basically, he wants to be have a dozen or so versions of about 4 linked pages. Does anyone know if it's possible to duplicate an entire multipage structure like this in WP? Or any WP driven sites that implement segmentation similarly?
