    Fault Handling It is one thing to architect, design, and code the “happy flow” of your automated business processes and services. It is another thing to deal with situations you do not want or expect to occur in your processes and services. This session dives into fault handling in Oracle Service Bus 11g and Oracle SOA Suite 11g, based on an order-to-cash business process. Faults can be divided into business faults, technical faults, programming errors, and faulty user input. Each type of fault needs a different approach to prevent them from occurring or to deal with them. For example, apply User Experience (UX) techniques to improve the quality of your application so that faulty user input can be prevented as much as possible. This session shows and demos what patterns and techniques can be used in Oracle Service Bus and Oracle SOA Suite to prevent and handle technical faults as well as business faults. Q&A This section lists answers to the questions that were raised during the preview event. Q: Where can retries be configured in Oracle Service Bus? The retry mechanism is used to prevent faults caused by temporary glitches such as short network interruptions. A faulted message is resend (retried) and might succeed this time since the glitch has passed. Retries are an out-of-the-box feature that can be used in Oracle Service Bus and Oracle SOA Suite using the Fault Policy framework. By default, retries are disabled in Oracle Service Bus.     There may be times when you need to expose just a small section of what is displayed in the Enterprise Manager console for SOA/BPM (EM console). A simple example can be where stakeholders on the systems integration or customer teams want to monitor a dashboard of statistics on how many instances of a composite have been created and how many have faulted. You can see this in the EM, as shown below Some of these stakeholders may not have knowledge of  EM console and they just want a quick view into the statistics, without having to navigate EM.   • C++: How to build an events / messaging system without void pointers?

    I'd like to have a dynamic messaging system in my C++ project, one where there is a fixed list of existing events, events can be triggered anywhere during runtime, and where you can subscribe callback functions to certain events. There should be an option for arguments passed around in those events. For example, one event might not need any arguments (EVENT_EXIT), and some may need multiple ones (EVENT_PLAYER_CHAT: Player object pointer, String with message) The first option for making this possible is allowing to pass a void pointer as argument to the event manager when triggering an event, and receiving it in the callback function. Although: I was told that void pointers are unsafe and I shouldn't use them. How can I keep (semi) dynamic argument types and counts for my events whilst not using void pointers?

I even tried doing: myElement.onclick = SomeFunction; // but this won't allow arguments I know I can create a string and use eval() and that does work, but I don't like eval(). Any ideas??? btw: This is a simple example to replicate the problem, and not actual code.

    I would like to know if there is a Facebook API call to retrieve the events (eids) for all the events a user has created using my facebook connect application. The events are created using the following REST api call: https://api.facebook.com/method/events.create?event_info=' . $e_i . '&access_token=' . $cookie['access_token'] $e_i is the event info array where the 'host' value is set to 'Me' as follows $event_info['host'] = 'Me'; On Facebook events under the "Created by:" section it lists "My user name,Application Name", I presume this is because I am the creator and the application is the admin as stated in the REST api documentation http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/rest/events.create/ Unfortunately I cannot seem to find out how (neither REST nor GPRAPH API) to return a list of events where I am the creator and the application is the admin as in the above scenario. If this is possible I would really appreciate some assistance with how it is done. So far I have tried: REST API events.get using uid=application_id. This only returns events created by the application not those including the user who created them GRAPH API https://graph.facebook.com/me/events?fields=owner&access_token=... this returns all the events for 'me' but not where the application is also the admin. It seems strange that there's no reference to the linkage between the event creator and the event admin through the API but in Facebook it is able to pull both and display them on the event details.

    I am attempting to stop a backspace keydown event from being handled by browsers, I'm using the jquery library, so I need to get the original event, but on some browsers (firefox at least) I get an error when trying to set the original events keyCode = 0, it gives and error saying that only a getter exists for that property. function blockBackspace(event) { var altKey = event.originalEvent.altKey; var srcElementType = event.originalEvent.srcElement; if( (altKey) || ((event.keyCode == 8) && (srcElementType != "text" && srcElementType != "textarea" && srcElementType != "password")) || ((event.ctrlKey) && ((event.keyCode == 78) || (event.keyCode == 82)) ) || (event.keyCode == 116) ) { event.keyCode = 0; event.returnValue = false; event.originalEvent.keyCode = 0; event.originalEvent.returnValue = false; //sets process backspaceFlag to keep multiple handlers from removing text processBackspace = true; } } so I'm not exactly sure what to do next, every solution I find yields more problems. There must be ways around this problem or else other text areas (that's kind of what I'm building) would not work
