  • ILMerge - Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: System.Core

    ILMerge is a utility which allows you the merge multiple .NET assemblies into a single binary assembly more for convenient distribution. Recently we ran into problems when attempting to use ILMerge on a .NET 4 project. We received the error message: An exception occurred during merging: Unresolved assembly reference not allowed: System.Core.     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.GetAssemblyRefIndex(AssemblyNode assembly)     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.GetTypeRefIndex(TypeNode type)     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.VisitReferencedType(TypeNode type)     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.GetMemberRefIndex(Member m)     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.PopulateCustomAttributeTable()     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.SetupMetadataWriter(String debugSymbolsLocation)     at System.Compiler.Ir2md.WritePE(Module module, String debugSymbolsLocation, BinaryWriter writer)     at System.Compiler.Writer.WritePE(String location, Boolean writeDebugSymbols, Module module, Boolean delaySign, String keyFileName, String keyName)     at System.Compiler.Writer.WritePE(CompilerParameters compilerParameters, Module module)     at ILMerging.ILMerge.Merge()     at ILMerging.ILMerge.Main(String[] args) It turns out that this issue is caused by ILMerge.exe not being able to find the .NET 4 framework by default. The answer was ultimately found here. You either have to use the /lib option to point to your .NET 4 framework directory (e.g., “C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319” or “C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319”) or just use an ILMerge.exe.config file that looks like this: 1: <configuration> 2: <startup useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy="true"> 3: <requiredRuntime safemode="true" imageVersion="v4.0.30319" version="v4.0.30319"/> 4: </startup> 5: </configuration> This was able to successfully resolve my issue.

    When I try to save something or rename a file/folder it say this error " Read-only file system" or run something as root in the terminal it say this error sudo: unable to open /var/lib/sudo/"My User Name"/0: Read-only file system W: Not using locking for read only lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock E: Unable to write to /var/cache/apt/ E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. When I make a Folder the error dialog in the details with Nautilus is this: Error creating directory: Read-only file system I would show you I picture of it but it isn't even letting my save onto my flash drive. Please help me.

  • Gparted Partition Mount Points Alternate Between 2 Physical Disk Drives

    I'm running Ubuntu Server 14.04 on a system with 2 physical disk drives. I am frequently seeing mount errors on startup. When I check the drive partitions using GPARTED, I see that my two "non-system created" data partitions have the wrong disk assignments (i.e. sda1 vs sdb1) or visa-versa. If I hand edit /etc/fstab to match GPARTED, the system will boot error free one time. On the second restart I will get the "serious mount problem" error for the 2 data partitions and when I check GPARTED, the disk assignments have changed again (again, GPARTED and fstab don't match). A listing of my /etc/fstab is: /etc/fstab: static file system information. # Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices that works even if disks are added and removed. The fstab entries to NOT change between system restarts but the mount points in the GPARTED display do. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks Mr. Young and Mr Gedak, Following is my fstab file and two blkid outputs. The fstab output is correct. The first blkid output was after a reboot and is WRONG! The sda and sdb device partition data is reversed. The 2nd blkid output was after a second reboot (fstab not changed). It shows the sda and adb partition data CORRECTLY. I didn't see any duplicate UUIDs. Does anyone have any idea why the GPARTED and blkid outputs alternate on consecutive reboots? The alternating partition data is real since when the partition assignments are reversed, the boot sequence halts with disk mounting errers (I have to press "s" to skip the mounts). Thanks again. Ken I copied the contents of a text file showing my fstab and 2 blkid outputs. The text file contents show up in the text entry box but does not appear in the main body of the question. Is there a way I can attach the text file or edit this question so that the text is displayed for question viewers?

    I was using ubuntu 10.10 from last year. every thing was Ok with that. recently I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 in place of 10.10, after installing that on my Dell laptop, I started to feel uncomfortable. It to slow event if you move mouse then its feel like i'll take 1min to move one place 2 another.. I know why this is happening, all because of 12.04 runs my CPU up to 99%-100% all over time. And there are 2-3 processes who use all the cpu.. like 1. System_Monitor 2. compiz I don't know why its use all the CPU even Other app can't able to run .. in Ubuntu 10.10 every think was Ok..     I have tried to mount my usb floppy disk drive in 11.04 Natty. So far I have managed to use the udisks --mount/dev/sdf command in terminal, but get a message that I have not stated a filetype "john@john-desktop:~$ udisks --mount /dev/sdf Mount failed: Error mounting: mount: you must specify the filesystem type" This is the result I get when trying to mount the usb floppy disk drive. Anyone know how to proceed Cheers

  • Swap drive not operating correctly

    At first, I started seeing the warning signs. The halting pages. The molasses speed of the windows closing. The pictures not rendering. Then, I took action. Recently I added a swap drive to my computer. For a while, everything was good. Unicorns frolicked among the new bits and bytes resplendent on the shiny metal platter known as my swap drive. Today, I opened Chromium, and got on the 7th tab (start.csail.mit.edu) "He's dead, Jim!". This used to happen before I added my swap drive, but now I thought that it wouldn't happen because I added more memory. I fear for the safety of the unicorns. Please help me make my swap drive work again. The problem is that names of these disks are changed from time to time, they are being randomly mixed from time to time (sda,b,c,d,e,f - so system disks might be sda, or sdc at different time for example).... is there any way to fix drive names, so that even if it's disconnected for example, no other drive can occupy this letter based on disk UUID or something?

    As an experienced user, I sometimes notice that things are not going well with my computer. For example, my backup drive recently started cycling up and down, so I guessed it was probably dying, and replaced it. I detected this with my ears. Windows did not seem to notice or care. There ought to be software that monitors overall system health by keeping track of things like this, so that unusual events or increasing error rates will not be shrugged off. Among other things: disk errors that are recovered, corrupt network packets (at above the baseline expected rate) and crashes of trusted programs are early warnings. Is there any software that tries to use this kind of monitoring to warn of impending trouble?

  • Looking for fast, minimal, preferrably free disc cloning software [closed]

    We have to test our application installation and functionality on many Windows operating system versions and languages (XP, Vista, Win7; English, Spanish, Portuguese, etc; 32-bit & b4-bit.) While we can do much of this in virtual machines, we have noticed that VM's sometimes hide problems, or raise false bugs. So, we need to do "bare metal" OS installation for much of our testing. I have been using Acronis True Image for the past year, and am not impressed. It often gives random errors which require a reboot, and is really slow. For example, when trying to restore an image, it goes through a "Locking partition" cycle about three times (once after you click OK on each step of the wizard), each of which can take 5 minutes to complete. This all happens BEFORE it actually starts the image copy, which is sometimes quick (3-5 minutes), sometimes long (hours). The size of all of our images are roughly the same, so that is not related. So, anyway, I'm looking to switch to something else: I only need very basic functionality--just creating images of entire discs, and then restoring those images onto the exact same hard drive at a later date. That's it. I'm not opposed to paying for a good piece of software, but if there is something free out there that does the job well, that would be a preference. My OS on which the imaging software would run is Windows Vista, but a bootable media (into a Linux flavor) would be fine also, as long as its quick to use and reliable. Recommendations? (Also, moderators, if this should be a CW, I'll be happy to mark it as such; unclear about the rules there.)

  • What free space thresholds/limits are advisable for 640 GB and 2 TB hard disk drives with ZEVO ZFS on OS X?

    Assuming that free space advice for ZEVO will not differ from advice for other modern implementations of ZFS … Question Please, what percentages or amounts of free space are advisable for hard disk drives of the following sizes? 640 GB 2 TB Thoughts A standard answer for modern implementations of ZFS might be "no more than 96 percent full". However if apply that to (say) a single-disk 640 GB dataset where some of the files most commonly used (by VirtualBox) are larger than 15 GB each, then I guess that blocks for those files will become sub optimally spread across the platters with around 26 GB free. I read that in most cases, fragmentation and defragmentation should not be a concern with ZFS. Sill, I like the mental picture of most fragments of a large .vdi in reasonably close proximity to each other. (Do features of ZFS make that wish for proximity too old-fashioned?) Side note: there might arise the question of how to optimise performance after a threshold is 'broken'. If it arises, I'll keep it separate. Background On a 640 GB StoreJet Transcend (product ID 0x2329) in the past I probably went beyond an advisable threshold. Currently the largest file is around 17 GB –  – and I doubt that any .vdi or other file on this disk will grow beyond 40 GB. (Ignore the purple masses, those are bundles of 8 MB band files.) Without HFS Plus: the thresholds of twenty, ten and five percent that I associate with Mobile Time Machine file system need not apply. I currently use ZEVO Community Edition 1.1.1 with Mountain Lion, OS X 10.8.2, but I'd like answers to be not too version-specific. (2010-03-11) … So to solve this problem, what went in 2010/Q1 software release is multifold. The most important thing is: we increased the threshold at which we switched from 'first fit' (go fast) to 'best fit' (pack tight) from 70% full to 96% full. With TB drives, each slab is at least 5GB and 4% is still 200MB plenty of space and no need to do anything radical before that. This gave us the biggest bang. Second, instead of trying to reuse the same primary slabs until it failed an allocation we decided to stop giving the primary slab this preferential threatment as soon as the biggest allocation that could be satisfied by a slab was down to 128K (metaslab_df_alloc_threshold). At that point we were ready to switch to another slab that had more free space. We also decided to reduce the SMO bonus. Before, a slab that was 50% empty was preferred over slabs that had never been used. In order to foster more write aggregation, we reduced the threshold to 33% empty. This means that a random write workload now spread to more slabs where each one will have larger amount of free space leading to more write aggregation. Finally we also saw that slab loading was contributing to lower performance and implemented a slab prefetch mechanism to reduce down time associated with that operation.   • System freezes during boot process

    Hi everyone, i have a machine running Win7 Ultimate. It was running fine, then it just froze - all the stuff i was doing was still on the screen, but mouse and keyboard input was ignored, any animation that was happening on the screen stopped, the machine literally just froze. So i rebooted (power off button), from then on the machine will reboot, but it ultimately freezes again. The instance when this happens will vary - i have made it as far as the Windows login screen, but mostly it will do the POST, then give me the option to press F1 to continue or Del to enter BIOS settings (but of course pressing a key has no effect - it's frozen!). I have disconnected everything not necessary for the boot process, the only peripheral that remains attached is the keyboard. (even the network cable is disconnected). Prior to this the machine was operating fine. The install of Win7 is only 2 days old, and it was a fresh reinstall (i.e. not an upgrade or repair). Can anyone give me an indication of what may be wrong here? I'm not sure if this question should be here or on SuperUser, please migrate it if i have chosen the wrong board.
