  • Prevent Chrome from automatically opening downloaded PDF and Image files

    When I download a PDF or image in Google Chrome on my Mac, is it possible to prevent Chrome from automatically opening it in my default application for that file type (e.g., Preview)? I notice that Chrome does not do this for other downloaded files such as audio and ZIP archives. I still want to be able to preview files in Chrome; I just want to prevent it from automatically launching my image/PDF viewer application after I download them. For example: I click on a link in an email to a PDF document or an image file. Chrome displays the contents in the browser. I press Cmd-S and save the file to my computer. When the download finishes, the file opens automatically in Preview.app. It's that last step that I would like to bypass.

  • gmail download by POP3 won't download all emails. How to reset all emails to not downloaded so that ALL will download?

    I want to download emails from gmail using POP3 with Outlook Express. It downloads about 350 or so emails but doesn't download the remainder - there are over 2000 emails. The emails downloaded are not recent. I've tried disabling and re-enabling POP options in the settings in gmail itself but this doesn't fix the issue. Any ideas? Failing that I would use IMAP. I would try to then copy it locally on my machine to the standard POP Inbox folder in Outlook Express so that Express Archiver (a separate program) can then archive each email as a file with meaningful file names (e.g. subject, sender). I want to download email because I archive back it up with project work material it relates to, so it is all in one place.

  • How do I download a corrupted package again?

    Ubuntu 12.04 can't install Firefox 13 update, because the package is corrupted. While attempting to install, returns this error (I translated it from my language to English). /var/cache/apt/archives/firefox_13.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1_i386.deb W: Waited for dpkg --assert-multi-arch but was not there - dpkgGo (10: There are no "child" processes). I can tell that the package at /var/cache/apt/archives/firefox_13.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1_i386.deb is corrupted, but even as admin, I can't delete it in order to be downloaded again. How should I proceed? EDIT: There was a single package causing this conflict, please report here to understand all the situation: Why can't I install from software center?

    Whenever I try to go to an RSS feed in IE7 directly, I get a very strange error. IE 7 tries to download the page, but fails. It throws an error, Internet Explorer cannot download rss.php from www.example.com. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. But when I click a link to view the same feed, it doesn't throw an error but displays the XML instead. Are there any ways I caan fix this, that don't involve OS hacks? Also, if I try to put an xsl stylesheet on it, it tries to download the file no matter what and still errors.

  • Problem downloading Android SDK?

    So I'm trying to download the Android SDK for Windows from their website but it isn't working. The download seems to proceed without a hitch but something is wrong because the downloaded .zip is only 2-3 MB (size varies), MD5 doesn't match and the file won't open or extract. Obviously the download is corrupt but I have no idea why. A quick google didn't turn up anyone else with this problem to indicate that it might be on the server side. My connection is rock solid and I've never had issues with it so I'm not sure what it could be on my end. I tried downloading the linux version as well and tried using the alternate link, both to no avail. Having recently discovered this amazing community I thought I'd ask here. Any ideas?

    I had been trying to download Windows 8.1 ISO from the last 3-4 days but a silly issue is preventing me to download it.As many posts over the internet explain,I tried to use generic keys to download(as I don't have Windows 8),but the installer always shows "We can't connect right now,please check you internet connection.".Isn't it silly?,I have a working internet connection.No matter whatever key I use it always ends at this message.I've tried every single generic key,and almost every key was accepted by the installer as valid,but then the message.     It only affects Gmail. I have tested other HTTP, FTP and HTTPS websites and downloading is fine, at the exact same time the problem is affecting a Gmail attachment download. The symptoms include both: High waiting time, before the download starts (on the order of 30 seconds); AND Very slow download transfer speeds (on the order of 1kbps) It's a very strange problem, and I didn't find any recent issues relating to Google Australia. The account works fine at another site with a different ISP, so it's either a computer configuration or ISP - I lean to the latter.

  • Ubuntu One slow download sync speed

    I am having problems syncing my Ubuntu One files with my Ubuntu 12.04 fresh installation. Everything went well during the setup phase. Now, I am trying to sync back in my folders in my U1 account and the transfer speed is extremely slow. I am averaging a 15kb/s transfer speed. I tried uninstalling ubuntuone-client and reinstalling it. It did not fixed the problem. Right now U1 is stuck downloading a 50mb file. It is taking forever. Any ideas?   • Chrome to download Gmail attachments to a different place

    I'm using Chrome and Gmail. When I download stuff from the web, Chrome automatically puts it in Downloads, which is fine. However, I'm aware that everything I download from Gmail is in the cloud anyway and so I don't really need it taking up space on my hard drive as well. Is there a way to have Gmail attachements automatically download to a different folder, say, Downloads\Gmail? That way I could regularly purge the ones that won't be useful for a while. (Yes, I'm aware that Word documents and the like often get changed after they arrive, I'm more focused on images, pdfs, and zip files.)

For example: wget -r -A.jpg -np www.fragrancenet.com There are so many pictures on this website. I have saved the links for the particular pictures I want: www.fragrancenet.com/images1 www.fragrancenet.com/images2 www.fragrancenet.com/images3 The links are saved in a text file named images.txt in my computer. How can I download the links in the images.txt text file using wget?
