Is there any plugin that let us record the editing session in ECLIPSE?
Say for example I want to learn from the best programmer how he codes in Eclipse etc, and we can replay how he does stuffs.
For a generic project its possible to add a JRE_CONTAINER to classpath, is something like this possible for the Web Container?
<classpathentry kind="con" path="org.eclipse.jdt.launching.JRE_CONTAINER/org.eclipse.jdt.internal.debug.ui.launcher.StandardVMType/J2SE-1.5"/>
I am learning Scala and would like to set up integrated unit testing in Eclipse.
As far as I can tell from googling, ScalaTest is the way to go, possibly in combination with JUnit.
What are your experiences with unit testing Scala in Eclipse? Should I use the JUnit runner or something else?
Hi,
I have developed a simple cheatsheet in eclipse. Now i want to install that cheatsheet plugin in eclipse itself ...can anyone help me how to do that???
I recently started learning JavaFX.
At the moment I can't build any JavaFX project with Java class in Eclipse.
For every input I get error "package does not exist"
Path to JRE is set in project's properties.
Same class compiles if it is Java-project (not JavaFx).
What should I check in project settings or Eclipse prefferences?
All,
How can we debug a Eclipse plug-in based on GEF? Currently, I have a Activator class and custom editor from Example . Yet I am not able to find any output for the plugin. I tried using the "Launch Eclipse in Debug Mode" and setting a breakpoint in the Activator constructor method, but do not find any debugging activities taking place.
Can anyone please guide on how to go about with debugging?
Hello,
My Eclipse RCP application requires a configuration file that contains some information to connect to a remote database. Where is the best location to store this configuration file?
Can I use the default configuration directory (where 'config.ini' is usually stored) for this purpose? If so, how can I get a File instance to this location programmatically? I also note that this directory does not exist in my Eclipse IDE.
Thanks.
Is Eclipse at all themeable? I would like to install a dark color scheme for it, since I much prefer white text on dark background than the other way around.
Edit: so apparently there is NO easy way to do it. Shame, I really prefer Eclipse to NetBeans, but I cannot stand the white background (and NetBeans does support themes).
I want to track the workspace of eclipse by source control so that important settings can be backed up. However, there are a lot of kind of *.index inside the .metadata folder of workspace. Some information are important, for example Mylyn repository, but some information is merely cached files and thus, doesn't make sense to me for being tracked.
In short, what files inside eclipse workspace that should be tracked so that I can restore the working workspace after problems (like meta data file deleted, etc.)
Hello All...
I am just entered into the Blackberry Arena..
I am using Eclipse Plugin for running my testing application to simulator.
So, In my code somewhere I have add System.out.println("Print"); statements, but by debugging or running app to simulator, I couldn't find any log statements printed to eclipse console.
Is there anything that I need to take care for using println() methods ?
Thanks in advance...
while running jsp it shows the following error
error reading /opt/eclipse/plugins/com.google.appengine.eclipse.sdkbundle.1.3.0_1.3.0.v200912141120/appengine-java-sdk-1.3.0/lib/shared/jsp/repackaged-appengine-ant-launcher-1.6.5.jar; error in opening zip file
How to solve this
Hello,
I wrote a complex Java application with eclipse that uses many .jar libraries included into project folder.
Is there a quick way to export a running configuration of the application that allows me to run it from shell (I don't actually need to move it around machines, so no jar export or similar things).
I just need to detach the execution from Eclipse, but since project has many settings I would like to export a script (maybe .sh or just a plain long line) automatically..
Thanks!
When working in an actual development environment with other people, is Emacs still a valid IDE? I work with Eclipse with my co-workers, but I'm curious if there are any benefits whatsoever of using Emacs over Eclipse.
Is there a way for my eclipse project to inherit the build classpath from existing Ant build.xml files? It would be nice if I didn't have to keep the eclipse project and the ant build in sync!
When implementing an interface in eclipse, it has a really nice feature that lets you "add unimplemented methods", and it will generate the method stubs for the interface methods.
However, it does not bring along the method documentation from the interface methods, and I was wondering if there was a way to get eclipse to do that.
Hi all,
the Java sources for the Android framework are available at source.android.com. Can I download and feed them to Eclipse so that I can step into framework methods while debugging? Better yet, does anyone know of an Eclipse plug-in that would get them from Android Git automatically as needed?

Any Ideas will be useful

I am using Eclipse 3.4.1 Build M20080911-1700
I have tried to change the classpath directories for jar and the source directory using the Project Properties - Java Build Path - Libraries Tab or Source Tab. When I click OK button and then return to the properties page, my changes were not applied.
I have to resort in the work around by manually changing the eclipse ".classpath" project settings file.
Any ideas?
I am trying to use Eclipse to build some existing software (written in C), which is built with a Makefile. For this reason I created a 'Makefile project' in Eclipse.
However, I just found out, the in the 'C/C++ Build / Settings' menu, I only see the 'Binary Parsers' and 'Error Parsers' tabs. However, I really need the 'Build Steps' tabs, because I also need to add a post-build command.
How can I make the 'Build Steps' tab appear in my project?
In Eclipse, I am using a TreeViewer to show a custom tree, whose contents are drawn from an ITreeContentProvider. Now I am trying to create a second view that allows me to automatically show a two-way comparisons of two such trees. I found various views for textual comparison within Eclipse, but I could not find an easy way to show the structural differences between two arbitrary trees. Any thoughts?
I'm using eclipse 3.5.2 and cannot seem to use "filter resources" to filter out .git folders in any of my projects for any of my perspectives: javascript, ruby, and php. I've tried adding the filter to plugin.xml as suggested on this blog but it is for eclipse 3.4 and doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
I'm using Eclipse for my C++ project under Linux. When I get compilation errors I can see them in the Console window.
I am currently manually navigating to the file and line number to fix errors. Is is possible to get Eclipse to provide links to the correct file and line number?
Should I use 32-bit Eclipse or 64-bit Eclipse for Android development? Im on a MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo). Does it matter which version for Android coding?
Good day.
I have Eclipse PHP Galileo for Mac OSX, 32bit Cocoa version.
The problem is the rename function doesn't work properly.
While editing PHP file I choose Refactor-Rename menu or a rename hotkey and Eclipse doesn't offer me to rename a variable, instead a rename file dialog appears.
Tried to configure hotkeys but no luck.
If you do know the solution – please tell. Thank you.
I don't have eclipse on my system at all, but I have on my hands an eclipse project (flex) that I would like to compile and I was wondering if there was any way to do it with minimal to no changes having to be made. Is this possible?
