  • Adding to page control collection from inside a user control

    I have an asp.net usercontrol which represents a "popup" dialog. Basically, it's a wrapper for the jQuery UI dialog which can be subclassed to easily make dialogs. As part of this control, I need to inject a div into the page the control is used on, either at the very top or very bottom of the form so that when the popup is instantiated, it's parent is changed to this div. This allows "nested" popups without the child popup being trapped inside the parent popup. The trouble is, I can't find a safe way to inject this div into the page. A usercontrol doesn't have a preinit event, so I can't do it there, and calling Page.Form.Controls.Add(...) in Init, Load or PreRender causes the standard exception "The control collection cannot be modified during DataBind, Init, Load, PreRender or Unload phases." I thought I had found a solution by using... ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Page, Me.GetType, UniqueID + "_Dialog_Div", containerDiv, False) ... which seemed to work well normally, but recently a coworker tried putting an UpdatePanel inside the dialog and now she's getting the error "The script tag registered for type 'ASP.controls_order_viewzips_ascx' and key 'ctl00$ContentBody$OViewZips_Dialog_Div' has invalid characters outside of the script tags: . Only properly formatted script tags can be registered." How are you supposed to add controls to the pages control collection from inside a user control?

  • Dimensions of a collection, and how to traverse it in an efficient, elegant manner

    I'm trying to find an elegant way to deal with multi-dimensional collections in Scala. My understanding is that I can have up to a 5 dimensional collection using tabulate, such as in the case of the following 2-Dimensional array: val test = Array.tabulate[Double](row,col)(_+_) and that I can access the elements of the array using for(i<-0 until row) { for(j<-0 until col) { test(i)(j) = 0.0 } } If I don't know a priori what I'm going to be handling, what might be a succinct way of determining the structure of the collection, and spanning it, without doing something like: case(Array(x)) => for(i<-1 until dim1) { test(i) = 0.0 } case(Array(x,y)) => for(i<-1 until dim1) { for(j<-1 until dim2) { test(i)(j) = 0.0 } } case(Array(x,y,z)) => ... The dimensional values n1, n2, n3, etc... are private, right? Also, would one use the same trick of unwrapping a 2-D array into a 1-D vector when dealing with n-Dimensional objects if I want a single case to handle the traversal? Thanks in advance Bruce

  • Best way to create a collection of a class

    I'm trying to create some classes that allow me to retrieve and manipulate a set of backups my application will create and manage. I've come up with the following code (not tested yet), but I'm not sure if it's the best way of accomplishing this or if there's any easier/better way. I'm using Delphi 2010. I have a class that holds the backup details (TBackupItem), then I need to have a class that will hold a collection of TBackupItem and finally I'll have a class that manages the reading and writing of backups and also exposes a property that accesses the collection of TBackupItem. type TBackupItem = class private FBackupProgram: string; FBackupProgramVersion: string; // There are more variables and properties but for the sake of simplicity I've listed only two public property BackupProgram: string read FBackupProgram write FBackupProgram; property BackupProgramVersion: string read FBackupProgramVersion write FBackupProgramVersion; end; TBackupsList = class(???) private // This class will hold a list of TBackupItem.     Argh, although I've been googling, I really would appreciate it if someone could break my problem down as all the code examples online are confusing me more than assisting (perhaps it's just late)... I have a simple class as defined below: public class Person { int _id; string _name; public Person() { } public int ID { get { return _id; } set { _id = value; } } public string Name { get { return _name; } set { _name = value; } } } that is stored in a database, and thru a bit more code I put it into an ObservableCollection object to attempt to databind in WPF later on: public class People : ObservableCollection<Person> { public People() : base() { } public void Add(List<Person> pListOfPeople) { foreach (Person p in pListOfPeople) this.Add(p); } } In XAML, I have myself a ListView that I would like to populate a ListViewItem (consisting of a textblock) for each item in the "People" object as it gets updated from the database. I would also like that textblock to bind to the "Name" property of the Person object. I thought at first that I could do this: lstPeople.DataContext = objPeople; where lstPeople is my ListView control in my XAML, but that of course does nothing. I've found TONS of examples online where people through XAML create an object and then bind to it through their XAML; but not one where we bind to an instantiated object and re-draw accordingly. Could someone please give me a few pointers on: A) How to bind a ListView control to my instantiated "People" collection object? B) How might I apply a template to my ListView to format it for the objects in the collection? Even links to a decent example (not one operating on an object declared in XAML please) would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

  • Java: Efficient Equivalent to Removing while Iterating a Collection

    Hello everyone. We all know you can't do this: for (Object i : l) if (condition(i)) l.remove(i); ConcurrentModificationException etc... this apparently works sometimes, but not always. Here's some specific code: public static void main(String[] args) { Collection<Integer> l = new ArrayList<Integer>(); for (int i=0; i < 10; ++i) { l.add(new Integer(4)); l.add(new Integer(5)); l.add(new Integer(6)); } for (Integer i : l) { if (i.intValue() == 5) l.remove(i); } System.out.println(l); } This, of course, results in: Exception in thread "main" java.util.ConcurrentModificationException ...even though multiple threads aren't doing it... Anyway. What's the best solution to this problem? "Best" here means most time and space efficient (I realize you can't always have both!) I'm also using an arbitrary Collection here, not necessarily an ArrayList, so you can't rely on get.

  • Best video codec to store my own collection

    Hello! I think this question has already been asked but with different flavours. My problem resised in the fact that my camera (Canon G9) creates video with almost raw codec (I think it's plain old MPEG) so a 10 minutes video is almost 900mb. I would like to convert them in a format that has a good trade-off between space and quality, but I would prefer having the quality as good as the original (of course this is not possible because of lossy compression) just saving as much space is possible with a minimal lose of quality. Which codec should I look for? H264? It seems to be the champion of the moment.. otherwise which other ones could I try? XviD? Which parameters should I use? I mean how many kbits/s is a fair good bitrate to keep high quality? And what about audio codec? video specs are 640x480 at 30fps or 1024x768 at 15fps.. thanks in advance!

  • What is the garbage text that is being printed by wvdial in terminal?

    When I dial using wvdial, sometimes it prints some garbage text into the terminal. This is not happening every time, but in the garbage text I can see some readable strings which is often irc logs(from xchat) or GET requests from the browser. One of my friend told me that this is probably something it's reading from /dev/random for Random entropy, but I couldn't find any supporting information. What is this text, and why is it being printed to the terminal? See the below picture for an example:

    I'm in love with Mendeley Desktop for organizing my papers. I'm working on a survey paper and I want to send an updated list of the papers in the survey to my advisors. The best solution would be to get them to sign up for Mendeley, but they're not as techy as I am. Right now I'm doing the following: 1) export Mendeley to Bibtex 2) open Bibtex file in Jabref and export to HTML Is there a way to cut out Jabref from this? Thanks!

  • Updating with using custom class collection not working

    I've posted this yesterday on asp forum but no one replied so perhaps I'll have better luck here. For some reason the OnUpdating method does not pull new values from the grid which is in edit mode. I've search and have come across several blogs and sites, some sugesting that an ObjectDataSource is required in order to use the "e.NewValue" construct others provide code to the contrary. I don't get any errors - the variables in the code file would contain the old values rather then new ones. I don't want to use the ODS way of manipulating the data. My delete method works but not the update one. Can you suggest what is wrong with the code?   • Is it possible to have a mutable type that is not garbage collected?

    I'm wondering if such a thing can exist. Can there be an object that is mutable but not flagged as garbage collected ( specifically, tp_flags & Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_GC ) I have a C++ struct-like object that I'm writing and I'd like to know if all of its members are immutable. I'm thinking of checking for the Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_GC flag to determine this. If all members are immutable I want to speed up the deepcopy by doing a faster shallow copy, since I know members are immutable then it shouldn't have to go through an expensive deep copy. Is this logically sound, or is there some mythical type that will blow me out of the water here.

  • How to get a collection of UIComponents based on a stylename in Adobe Flex

    Does anyone know an Actionscript equivalent of the javascript getElementsByClassName. What I would like to do is add a custom 'stylename' to various components which I can then use to get a collection of these objects and therefore process their visibility property. The idea is I want to hide various components based on what roles a logged in user has - I just want to make this flexible by adding an array of rolenames to a custom property or use the stylename property on a Canvas or Panel etc. Thanks

Can someone please enlighten me on what my expectations should be from Hibernate with this relationship? Or if nothing else, point me to the correct Hibernate documentation that tells me what I should be expecting to happen here. What do I need to do to make the parent Collection automatically contain the child Entity?

    I am using shanselmann's MvcMockHelper class to mock up some HttpContext stuff using Moq but the issue I am having is being able to assign something to my mocked session object in my MVC controller and then being able to read that same value in my unit test for verification purposes. My question is how do you assign a storage collection to the mocked session object to allow code such as session["UserName"] = "foo" to retain the "foo" value and have it be available in the unit test.
