  • TreeGrid in GXT

    - by aTory
Problem I'm trying to create an asynchronously updating TreeGrid in GXT but encountering issues. The first issue is that I believe the documentation is 'piss poor', at best.. therefore any chance of learning without using 'word of mouth' seems ridiculous. Instead of moaning any further, I shall inform you what I'd LIKE to do and then hopefully you can tell me if what i want is possible. Example knowledge of Football is recommended here I have a few Async services where: getLeagues() getTeams(League) getPlayers(League,Team) getPosition(League,Team,Player) I'd like to have a grid where once it renders, it makes a call to 'getLeagues', where by the server will respond with a bunch of leagues that are currently active on the server... these will be the 'root node' of the TreeGrid. Then, from here you can expand each league to show the teams, right down to the players and then their positions. I'd like to Create a TreeGrid which has a 'listener' on each node, waiting to asynchronously call the server on request and propogate the tree from here, however I'm not sure if this is possible. Can anybody advise? I'm finding all these Models, BaseTreeModels, TreeStores nauseating.

  • SmartGWT - Update ListGridRecord dynamically

    - by Haylwood
I am using SmartGWT and I have a ListGrid populated with an array of ListGridRecords using the setData() call. I am trying to update a progress property of a single record (on a timer for testing) and have it update in the browser. I have tried various combinations of draw(), redraw(), markForRedraw() etc. to no avail. I also tried overriding the updateRecordComponent() method in my table class, but it only gets called when the records are first created (after createRecordComponent()). I should note that I do NOT want to accomplish this by binding to a DataSource. I just want to be able to update the attribute on the client-side. ArrayList<SegmentSortRecord> mRecords; mRecords.add(new SegmentSortRecord("03312010_M001_S004")); mRecords.add(new SegmentSortRecord("03312010_M001_S005")); mRecords.add(new SegmentSortRecord("03312010_M001_S006")); mRecords.add(new SegmentSortRecord("03312010_M001_S007")); SegmentSortRecord[] records = new SegmentSortRecord[mRecords.size()]; mRecords.toArray(records); mSortProgressTable.setData(records); . . . mTestTimer = new Timer() { public void run() { mTestPercent += 5; if (mTestPercent <= 100) { mSortProgressTable.getRecord(2).setAttribute(Constants.PROGRESS_COL_NAME, mTestPercent); //mSortProgressTable.markForRedraw(); //mSortProgressTable.redraw(); } else { mTestPercent = 0; } } }; ... @Override protected Canvas createRecordComponent(final ListGridRecord aRecord, Integer aColumn) { String fieldName = getFieldName(aColumn); // Want to override the behavior for rendering the "progress" field if (fieldName.equals(Constants.PROGRESS_COL_NAME)) { Progressbar bar = new Progressbar(); bar.setBreadth(10); bar.setLength(100); // The JavaScript record object contains attributes that we can // access via 'getAttribute' functions. bar.setPercentDone(aRecord.getAttributeAsInt(Constants.PROGRESS_COL_NAME)); return bar; } Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Layout in SmartGWT

    - by sarav
How to place a control at the center of a canvas? I have a main VLayout set to 100%width and 100% haight. I want to place a grid at the center of this layout, meaning at the center of the browser' viewport. How to do that with smartGWT layouts? setLayoutAlign(Alignment.CENTER) This places the controls center to the layout's breadth axis. But if I nest HLayout and VLayout it is not giving desired result.

  • [GWT2] UiBinder work with ToggleButton

    - by EnToutCas
I'm liking the new GWT2 UiBinder, however, it's not clear whether certain things are achievable using the declarative UI style. For instance, ToggleButton only takes the image instances at construction time (no setters for up/down images). As I understand, UiBinder works in a JavaBean-like reflective way, where the assignable attributes are mapped to corresponding setters. Is this style possible with widgets like ToggleButton, where certain attributes have to be specified at construction time? <g:ToggleButton ui:field="myBtn"></g:ToggleButton>

  • GXT LayoutContainer with scrollbar reports a client height value which includes the area below the s

    - by Pieter Breed
I have this code which sets up a "main" container into which other modules of the application will go. LayoutContainer c = new LayoutContainer(); c.setScrollMode(Scroll.ALWAYS); parentContainer.add(c, <...>); Then later on, I have the following as an event handler pContainer = c; // pContainer is actually a parameter, but it has c's value pContainer.removeAll(); pContainer.setLayout(new FitLayout()); LayoutContainer wrapperContainer = new LayoutContainer(); wrapperContainer.setLayout(new BorderLayout()); wrapperContainer.setBorders(false); pContainer.add(wrapperContainer); LayoutContainer west = pWestContentContainer; BorderLayoutData westLayoutData = new BorderLayoutData(LayoutRegion.WEST); westLayoutData.setSize(pWidth); westLayoutData.setSplit(true); wrapperContainer.add(west, westLayoutData); LayoutContainer center = new LayoutContainer(); wrapperContainer.add(center, new BorderLayoutData(LayoutRegion.CENTER)); pCallback.withSplitContainer(center); pContainer.layout(); So in effect, the container called 'west' here will be where the module's UI gets displayed. That module UI then does a simple rowlayout with two children. The botton child has RowData(1, 1) so it fills up all the available space. My problem is that the c (parent) container reports a height and width value which includes the value underneath the scrollbars. What I would like is that the scrollbars show all the space excluding their own space. This is a screenshot showing what I mean:

  • Saving State of Objects in GXT

    - by 8EM
Is there a way to store the state of objects in GXT? That is, having a dynamically configurable GUI built in GXT, you can add your own widgets 'on-the-fly' in any order you like - with your own custom everything. Is there a way to save the state of all the objects, so one can load the profile back at a later date?

  • SmartGWT alternatives

    - by Roger
I have been using SmartGWT but have run into trouble mixing SmartGWT with other frameworks such as Wicket. Infact it has been a bit of a disaster and I regret going with it in the first place. I do not want this question to turn into any type of flame war, so therefore would just like people to list alternatives and their experience with those alternatives.

  • Should I use Google Web Toolkit for my new webapp?

    - by balint.miklos
I would like to create a database backed interactive AJAX webapp which has a custom (specific kind of events, editing) calendaring system. This would involve quite a lot of JavaScript and AJAX, and I thought about Google Web Toolkit for the interface and Ruby on Rails for server side. Is Google Web Toolkit reliable and good? What hidden risks might be if I choose Google Web Toolkit? Can one easily combine it with Ruby on Rails on server side? Or should I try to use directly a JavaScript library like jQuery? I have no experience in web development except some HTML, but I am an experienced programmer (c++, java, c#), and I would like to use only free tools for this project.

  • CellTable + AsyncListViewAdapter<T> + SimplePager<T>, stuck with 'loading' bar when paging

    - by Jaroslav Záruba
Hi I'm trying to make CellTable, AsyncListViewAdapter<T> and SimplePager<T> working together. I managed to display my data, but whenever I click either "go to start" or "go to end" button I get that 'loading' indicator which stays there till the end of days. (And AsyncListViewAdapter<T>.onRangeChanged doesn't even get called this time.) I went through the code-snippets in this thread, but I can't see nothing suspicions in what I've been doing. Is there some obvious answer to a rookie mistake? I shrinked my variable names, hopefully it won't wrap too much. protected class MyAsyncAdapter extends AsyncListViewAdapter<DTO> { @Override protected void onRangeChanged(ListView<DTO> v) { // doesn't get called on go2start/go2end :( Range r = v.getRange(); fetchData(r.getStart(), r.getLength()); } } private void addTable() { // table: CellTable<DTO> table = new CellTable<DTO>(10); table.addColumn(new Column<DTO, String>(new TextCell()) { @Override public String getValue(DTO namespace) { return namespace.getName(); } }, "Name"); // pager: SimplePager<DTO> pager = new SimplePager<DTO>(table); table.setPager(pager); adapter = new MyAsyncAdapter(); adapter.addView(table); // does not make any difference: // adapter.updateDataSize(0, false); // adapter.updateDataSize(10, true); VerticalPanel vPanel = new VerticalPanel(); vPanel.add(table); vPanel.add(pager); RootLayoutPanel.get().add(vPanel); } // success-handler of my fetching AsyncCallback @Override public void onSuccess(List<DTO> data) { // AsyncCallback<List<DTO>> has start field adapter.updateViewData(start, data.size(), data); if(data.size() < length) adapter.updateDataSize(start + data.size(), true); } Regards J. • List of programming related conferences, unConference and meet-ups in the UK?

    - by Daniel Vaughan
I really enjoy attending unconference/BarCamp type events and getting to meet developers, designers etc. from different backgrounds and sharing ideas in person. However, I have trouble finding events as there does not seem to be one place where they are listed. Does anyone know of such a place? I also want to setup a Google Technology User Group in Bristol but again other that putting it on Linkedin, Facebook, Meetup.com etc. I don't really know how to get the information out to what would essentially be a niche group of developers. Any ideas?

  • [SmartGWT] How to center a DynamicForm?

    - by user334209
Hi there! I'm new in smartGWT and I'm getting problems designing my client. I'd like to know if there is a way to center a form. I have a TabSet in my page. I would like to make the first tab ("Welcome") similar to Google search engine, with the search box centered in the pane. The setAlign(Alignment.CENTER) method doesn't for this type of object. I get to have this at this point : link text Thanks you for helping me.
