  • how to view internal jaxws logs in tomcat

    - by prmatta
I have a web service that is deployed in tomcat, and it is rejecting a soap request over https. However, I can't see any logs as to why it is doing so. I have the following set in my service endpoint implementation file: System.setProperty("javax.net.debug", "all"); System.setProperty("java.security.debug", "all"); And I pass the following parameters to tomcat: -Dcom.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.HttpAdapter.dump=true -Dcom.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.dump=true Is there anything else I need to do to see the internal jaxws logs? Are there some other loggers I need to enable?

  • Getting the location from a WebClient on a HTTP 302 Redirect?

    - by Michael Stum
I have a URL that returns a HTTP 302 redirect, and I would like to get the URL it redirects to. The problem is that System.Net.WebClient seems to actually follow it, which is bad. HttpWebRequest seems to do the same. Is there a way to make a simple HTTP Request and get back the target Location without the WebClient following it? I'm tempted to do raw socket communication as HTTP is simple enough, but the site uses HTTPS and I don't want to do the Handshaking. At the end, I don't care which class I use, I just don't want it to follow HTTP 302 Redirects :)

  • Self-signed ceritificates for many users/browsers/sites

    - by Demiurg
Here is my problem - I have a lot of users using different browsers accessing many internal web sites using https. I can create my own Certificate Authority, than create a certificate for each server and after that have all the users import it. Obviously, it cannot work in reality - there are too many users and too many sites, and some sites will be added in the future. I'm looking for a way to automate this. Is there a way to create a certificate so that all major browsers (IE, FF, Opera, Chrome and Safari) would trust it for all servers ? If so, what is the best way to install it automatically in all major browsers ?

  • Achieving AES-256 Channel Encryption with the .NET Compact Framework

    - by Ev
Hi There, I am working on a business application where the clients are Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional devices. The server is a Java enterprise application. The industry working group recommends AES-256 encryption for client/server communications. This is necessary to gain certification. The encryption doesn't necessarily need to be channel encryption, it could be payload encryption. Channel encryption is preferable. The client and server communicate using SOAP/HTTP, which we are yet to implement. We plan to use WCF on the compact framework. In order to alleviate some of the work required to implement manual encryption/decryption, it would be nice if we could achieve the required encryption either at the TLS level, or somehow using the WS-* standards (I'm not particularly familiar with that group of technologies but I am learning right now). The server supports https with 256-bit AES. Does anybody have an idea on the best way to implement this? Thanks in advance.

  • Python HTTPSConnection.close() does not appear to close the connection?

    - by Dave
I'm not sure if this is a bug or if I'm just doing something wrong. If I were to do an HTTP connection like this: import httplib http_connection = httplib.HTTPConnection("192.168.192.196") http_connection.request("GET", "/") http_connection.sock.settimeout(20) response = http_connection.getresponse() data = response.read() http_connection.close() Then at a DOS prompt, I do this: netstat -ano | find /i "192.168.192.196:80" | find /i "ESTABLISHED" I get nothing. However, if I do the same thing, but change it to an HTTPSConnection: import httplib http_connection = httplib.HTTPSConnection("192.168.192.196") http_connection.request("GET", "/") http_connection.sock.settimeout(20) response = http_connection.getresponse() data = response.read() http_connection.close() Then do this: netstat -ano | find /i "192.168.192.196:443" | find /i "ESTABLISHED" I will actually see that the connection remains established until I actually ^Z out of the Python shell. This is happening in one of the applications I'm responsible for. Python isn't actually hanging there - it's simply leaving the connection open. Am I doing something wrong here? Do I need extra code to close the HTTPS connection? This is Python 2.6.4, btw.

  • C# WCF client configuration for X509 secured web service over https

    - by Kam
Hi guys I been pulling my hair out for the past few days trying to connect to a web service using .Net 3.5 and WCF (have also tried using WSE 3.0) without much luck. The web service is hosted by a 3rd party and we can access via https. They also make use of X509 certificates for security, to sign the message. I've been given some basic info and am able to connect and test the service using SOAP UI 3.5 without any problems, so we know that this is not the issue. Just trying to get it done in code! I've added the X509 certificate into the certificate store using the mmc snap-in, and using tracing and logging i can see that the message is being signed, just unable to see which part i have got wrong. Any healp GREATLY appreciated :) I've been given an offline WSDL file, which I have imported in as a service reference is VS 2008. My calling code looks like so, simple enough: ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = delegate(object sender,X509Certificate certificate,X509Chain chain, SslPolicyErrors sslErrors) { return true; }; GatewayClient gateway = new GatewayClient(); CheckStatusResponse response = gateway.CheckLineStatus(); And my config looks like so: <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="Gateway_1.0" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" allowCookies="false" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferSize="65536" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" transferMode="Buffered" useDefaultWebProxy="true"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <security mode="TransportWithMessageCredential"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Certificate" algorithmSuite="Default" /> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> <customBinding> <binding name="Gateway_1"> <security authenticationMode="CertificateOverTransport" includeTimestamp="true" messageProtectionOrder="SignBeforeEncrypt"> <localClientSettings maxClockSkew="12:00:00" replayWindow="12:00:00" sessionKeyRolloverInterval="12:00:00" timestampValidityDuration="12:00:00" /> <localServiceSettings maxClockSkew="12:00:00" sessionKeyRolloverInterval="12:00:00" timestampValidityDuration="12:00:00" /> <secureConversationBootstrap /> </security> <textMessageEncoding messageVersion="Soap11" /> <sslStreamSecurity requireClientCertificate="true" /> <httpsTransport hostNameComparisonMode="WeakWildcard" /> </binding> </customBinding> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="Gateway_1" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="true" allowCookies="false"> <security mode="TransportWithMessageCredential"> <message clientCredentialType="Certificate" negotiateServiceCredential="false" establishSecurityContext="true" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="https://XXX.XX.XXX.XX/SOAP" behaviorConfiguration="ClientCertificateBehavior" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="Gateway_1" contract="B2BService.Gateway" name="Gateway_1_HTTPSPort"> <identity> <dns value="ext.test.com" /> </identity> </endpoint> </client> <behaviors> <endpointBehaviors> <behavior name="ClientCertificateBehavior"> <clientCredentials> <clientCertificate findValue="mycertificate.com" storeLocation="CurrentUser" storeName="Root" x509FindType="FindBySubjectName" /> <serviceCertificate> <authentication certificateValidationMode="PeerOrChainTrust" /> </serviceCertificate> </clientCredentials> </behavior> </endpointBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> Regardless of which config I use, the code fails for one reason or another, causing internal server errors, Error processing message for security, Undefined 'badEncoding' resource property, or expected http URI given https, and a few other! Been going round and round a bit, and I am sure it is very simple once the cofig is set :( I'm sure I've missed loads out, let me know if seeing the SOAP UI generated envelope and the currect WCF generated envelope will help. many thanks. • Easiest way to allow direct HTTPS connection in Intercept mode?

    - by Nick Lin
I know the SSL issue has been beaten to death I'm using DNS redirect to force my clients to use my intercept proxy. As we all know, intercepting HTTPS connection is not possible unless I provide a fake certificate. What I want to achieve here is to allow all HTTPS requests connect directly to the source server, thus bypassing Squid: HTTP connection Proxy by Squid HTTPS connection Bypass Squid and connect directly I spent the past few days goolging and trying different methods but none worked so far. I read about SSL tunneling using the CONNECT method but couldn't find any more information on it. I tried a similar method in using RINETD to forward all traffic going through port 443 of my Squid back to the original IP of www.pandora.com. Unfortunately, I did not realize all other HTTPS requests are also forwarded to the IP of www.pandora.com. For example, https://www.gmail.com also takes me to https://www.pandora.com Since I'm running the Intercept mode, the forwarding needs to be dynamic and match each HTTPS domain name with proper original IP. Can this be done in Squid or iptables? Lastly, I'm directing traffic to my Squid server using DNS zone redirect. For example, a client requests www.google.com, my DNS server directs that request to my Squid IP, then my transparent Squid will proxy that request. Will this set up affect what I'm trying to achieve? I tried many methods but couldn't get it to work. Any takes on how to do this?

  • How to dissuade a customer who just learned a technology and wants to use it everywhere?

    - by MainMa
My customer recently discovered what is URL Rewriting, without completely understanding what it is, how it works and the pros and cons of it. Now, he asks for lots of strange changes in actual requirements of current projects and changes in old projects in order to implement what he believes is URL Rewriting. On one hand, I'm annoyed being asked to do things which doesn't make any sense instead of doing real work. On the other hand, I can't tell my customer that he doesn't understand anything in the subject despite his interest in it. I think many people have had situations when their manager or their customer just learned a new buzzword or a new technology, and he loved it so much than he wanted to use it in every project, everywhere, rewrite the whole codebase just to use this new thing, etc. Also, I've recently read something related on Programmers.SE where people told about their experiences when there was a huge buzz around XML, and some managers would ask to introduce XML in every project just to show to everyone that they have used it. So those who have been in similar situation, how have you managed it?

  • Every subsequent call to an Axis webservice fails

    - by cudiaco
I've been having a strange issue with an Axis webservice which is called through the https protocol. Basically, when an invocation is made, the call goes through just fine. If the call is made again, the web service fails, returning me with the following message: <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <soapenv:Body> <soapenv:Fault> <faultcode>soapenv:Server.userException</faultcode> <faultstring>org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Unexpected end of file after null</faultstring> <detail> <ns1:hostname xmlns:ns1="http://xml.apache.org/axis/">f0s0</ns1:hostname> </detail> </soapenv:Fault> </soapenv:Body> </soapenv:Envelope> When tested locally (through http), the service works perfectly fine. Has anyone encountered an issue like this before? Any help is appreciated.

  • Help with HTTP Intercepting Proxy in Ruby?

    - by Philip
I have the beginnings of an HTTP Intercepting Proxy written in Ruby: require 'socket' # Get sockets from stdlib server = TCPServer.open(8080) # Socket to listen on port 8080 loop { # Servers run forever Thread.start(server.accept) do |client| puts "** Got connection!" @output = "" @host = "" @port = 80 while line = client.gets line.chomp! if (line =~ /^(GET|CONNECT) .*(\.com|\.net):(.*) (HTTP\/1.1|HTTP\/1.0)$/) @port = $3 elsif (line =~ /^Host: (.*)$/ && @host == "") @host = $1 end print line + "\n" @output += line + "\n" # This *may* cause problems with not getting full requests, # but without this, the loop never returns. break if line == "" end if (@host != "") puts "** Got host! (#{@host}:#{@port})" out = TCPSocket.open(@host, @port) puts "** Got destination!" out.print(@output) while line = out.gets line.chomp! if (line =~ /^<proxyinfo>.*<\/proxyinfo>$/) # Logic is done here. end print line + "\n" client.print(line + "\n") end out.close end client.close end } This simple proxy that I made parses the destination out of the HTTP request, then reads the HTTP response and performs logic based on special HTML tags. The proxy works for the most part, but seems to have trouble dealing with binary data and HTTPS connections. How can I fix these problems?

  • Google gadget to read https rss feeds?

Anyone run across a Google Gadget RSS reader that can read https feeds? I haven't been able to find any, and I'm not sure if this is because a) I'm the only one that needs one and/or b) there is something nasty about the browser security model here that I'll find out if I try to roll my own. Thanks much in advance.
