  • Installing Forms and Reports on a development system

    By popular demand I've resurrected / updated one of the old blog postings from Jan Carlin's Blog on GroundSide here. A recent (lengthy) post on the Forms forums chronicles the problems some of you have had installing F&R on a development machine. See the link in the headline of this post for the main one. When installing, here are some points to bear in mind: Download and install Weblogic Server first. http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/index.htmlFind the Forms and Reports (and Disco and Portal) zip files here. Download them to the desktop (or some other temporary directory of your choosing). Unzip both of the two zip files into the same new directory (maybe called 'stage') and check that you have 4 directories in the stage dir when you are finished unzipping: 'Disk1', 'Disk2', 'Disk3' and 'Disk4'. These folders are specified in the zip file structure and must be preserved for the setup executable to work. If you use WinZip and have a right click menu option that say "Extract to here", use that by right click-dragging the zip file onto the newly created directory. Don't use the "Extract to folder %HOME%\Desktop\ofm_pfrd...disk_1of2" option. That will get you into the trouble that was reported early in this thread. Free up as much memory as you can. Stop services and background processes and virus scanners and databases (you don't need a DB to install Forms) and other things lurking about on your machine. You can restart them when the install is done. Around 1.5 GB free real memory should do it. If it doesn't, free up more if you can. Don't change the swap space unless you know what you are doing. Let Windows handle it. A 1 GB machine will likely not be enough. You will likely need at least 2GB of RAM.Start the install with setup.exe from the 'Disk1' directoryChoose the Install and Configure option unless you have a good reason not to.Choose a unique instance name even if you deinstalled and removed the last install. I suggest using 'asinst_20090722_1' (today's date in ISO format with a running incremented number at the end if you install more than two times on a particular day).Unselect Portal and Discoverer and select the Builders you want.Unselect WebCacheUnselect OHS.Unselect the single sign-on option Check for any failures and choose the retry option if any occur. If that doesn't fix the problem, call Oracle Customer Support .

  • What is the right way to group this project into classes?

    I originally asked this on SO, where it was closed and recommended that I ask it here instead. I'm trying to figure out how to group all the functions necessary for my project into classes. The goal of the project is to execute the following process: Get the user's FTP credentials (username & password). Check to make sure the credentials establish a valid connection to the FTP server. Query several Sharepoint lists and join the results of those queries to create a list of items that need to have action taken on them. Each item in the list has a folder. For each item: Zip the contents of the folder. Upload the folder to the FTP server using SFTP Update the item's Sharepoint data. Email the user an Excel report showing, e.g., Items without folder paths Items that failed to zip or upload Steps 2-5 are performed on a periodic basis; if step 2 returns an invalid connection, the user is alerted and the process returns to step 1. If at any point the user presses a certain key, the process terminates. I've defined the following set of classes, each of which is in its own .cs file: SFTP: file transfer processes DataHandler: Sharepoint data retrieval/querying/updating processes. Also makes and uploads the zip files. Exceptions: Not just one class, this is the .cs file where I have all of my exception classes. Report: Builds and sends the report. Program: The main class for running the program. I recognize that the DataHandler class is a god object, but I don't have a good idea of how to refactor it. I feel like it should be more fine-grained than just breaking it into Sharepoint, Zip, and Upload, but maybe that's it. Also, I haven't yet worked out how to combine the periodic behavior with the "wait for user input at any point in the process" part; I think that involves threads, which means other classes to manage the threads... I'm not that well-versed in design patterns, but is there one that fits this project well? If this is too big of a topic to neatly explain in an SO answer, I'll also accept a link to a good tutorial on what I'm trying to do here.

  • How can I call winrar in perl on windows

    Is it possible to call winrar through perl on a windows system, such as perl -e "rar a -rr10 -s c:\backups\backup.rar @backup.lst" If so, is there a more efficient way to do this? I've looked up "perl -e" +winrar on google, however none of the results gave me any answer that was remotely close to what i was looking for. The system Im running this on is a Windows XP system. Im open to doing this in another language like python if its easier, however I am more comfertable with perl.

  • Compile/use unrar C++ source for iphone app?

    Writing an app that will include the ability to decompress zip and rar files. I think I'm OK on how to handle the .zips but .rars seem a little more trouble. I noticed that rarlabs has source available but it's C++. Is there a way to compile, wrap or otherwise use this code within an iPhone app?   • Maven2 not compiling source

    Hi, I am new to Maven2 and have been having an issue with the compiling of the source for a RAR. Maven currently copies all the information located at my sourceDirectory instead of compiling it even though the console states that the source is being compiled. If I navigate to the sourceDirectory I find all my source files with no compiled class files. I have tried changing my outputDirectory to a different location and when I inspect this directory I find that it only copied my source files instead of compiling them. I have added an example of my POM.   • Iterating through folders and files in batch file?

    Here's my situation. A project has as objective to migrate some attachments to another system. These attachments will be located to a parent folder, let's say "Folder 0" (see this question's diagram for better understanding), and they will be zipped/compressed. I want my batch script to be called like so: BatchScript.bat "c:\temp\usd\Folder 0" I'm using 7za.exe as the command line extraction tool. What I want my batch script to do is to iterate through the "Folder 0"'s subfolders, and extract all of the containing ZIP files into their respective folder. It is obligatory that the files extracted are in the same folder as their respective ZIP files. So, files contained in "File 1.zip" are needed in "Folder 1" and so forth. I have read about the FOR...DO command on Windows XP Professional Product Documentation - Using Batch Files. Here's my script: @ECHO OFF FOR /D %folder IN (%%rootFolderCmdLnParam) DO FOR %zippedFile IN (*.zip) DO 7za.exe e %zippedFile I guess that I would also need to change the actual directory before calling 7za.exe e %zippedFile for file extraction, but I can't figure out how in this batch file (through I know how in command line, and even if I know it is the same instruction "cd").   • "one-off" use of http_proxy in a Chef remote_file resource

    I have a use case where most of my remote_file resources and yum resources download files directly from an internal server. However, there is a need to download one or two files with remote_file that is outside our firewall and which must go through a HTTP proxy. If I set the http_proxy setting in /etc/chef/client.rb, it adversely affects the recipe's ability to download yum and other files from internal resources. Is there a way to have a remote_file resource download a remote URL through a proxy without setting the http_proxy value in /etc/chef/client.rb? In my sample code, below, I'm downloading a redmine bundle from rubyforge.org, which requires my servers to go through a corporate proxy. I came up with a ruby_block before and after the remote_file resource that sets the http_proxy and "unsets" it.   • How to automate downloading files?

    I got a book which had a pass to access digital versions of hi-res scans of much of the artwork in the book. Amazing! Unfortunately the presentation of all the these are 177 pages of 8 images each with links to zip files of jpgs. It is extremely tedious to browse, and I would love to be able to get all the files at once rather than sitting and clicking through each one separately. archive_bookname/index.1.htm - archive_bookname/index.177.htm each of those pages have 8 links each to the files linking to files such as <snip>/downloads/_Q6Q9265.jpg.zip, <snip>/downloads/_Q6Q7069.jpg.zip, <snip>/downloads/_Q6Q5354.jpg.zip. that don't quite go in order. I cannot get a directory listing of the parent /downloads/ folder. Also, the file is behind a login-wall, so doing a non-browser tool, might be difficult without knowing how to recreate the session info. I've looked into wget a little but I'm pretty confused and have no idea if it will help me with this. Any advice on how to tackle this? Can wget do this for me automatically?

  • Is there a Math.atan2 substitute for j2ME? Blackberry development

    I have a wide variety of locations stored in my persistent object that contain latitudes and longitudes in double(43.7389, 7.42577) format. I need to be able to grab the user's latitude and longitude and select all items within, say 1 mile. Walking distance. I have done this in PHP so I snagged my PHP code and transferred it to Java, where everything plugged in fine until I figured out J2ME doesn't support atan2(double, double). So, after some searching, I find a small snippet of code that is supposed to be a substitute for atan2. Here is the code: public double atan2(double y, double x) { double coeff_1 = Math.PI / 4d; double coeff_2 = 3d * coeff_1; double abs_y = Math.abs(y)+ 1e-10f; double r, angle; if (x >= 0d) { r = (x - abs_y) / (x + abs_y); angle = coeff_1; } else { r = (x + abs_y) / (abs_y - x); angle = coeff_2; } angle += (0.1963f * r * r - 0.9817f) * r; return y < 0.0f ? -angle : angle; } I am getting odd results from this. My min and max latitude and longitudes are coming back as incredibly low numbers that can't possibly be right. Like 0.003785746 when I am expecting something closer to the original lat and long values (43.7389, 7.42577). Since I am no master of advanced math, I don't really know what to look for here. Perhaps someone else may have an answer. I have a table of venue information (name, address, etc...) that our events happen on. Separately, I have a table of the actual events that are scheduled (an event may happen multiple times in one day and/or over multiple days).   • Problems with opening CHM Help files from Network or Internet

    As a publisher of a Help Creation tool called Html Help Help Builder, I’ve seen a lot of problems with help files that won't properly display actual topic content and displays an error message for topics instead. Here’s the scenario: You go ahead and happily build your fancy, schmanzy Help File for your application and deploy it to your customer. Or alternately you've created a help file and you let your customers download them off the Internet directly or in a zip file. The customer downloads the file, opens the zip file and copies the help file contained in the zip file to disk. She then opens the help file and finds the following unfortunate result:     The help file  comes up with all topics in the tree on the left, but a Navigation to the WebPage was cancelled or Operation Aborted error in the Help Viewer's content window whenever you try to open a topic. The CHM file obviously opened since the topic list is there, but the Help Viewer refuses to display the content. Looks like a broken help file, right? But it's not - it's merely a Windows security 'feature' that tries to be overly helpful in protecting you. The reason this happens is because files downloaded off the Internet - including ZIP files and CHM files contained in those zip files - are marked as as coming from the Internet and so can potentially be malicious, so do not get browsing rights on the local machine – they can’t access local Web content, which is exactly what help topics are. If you look at the URL of a help topic you see something like this:   mk:@MSITStore:C:\wwapps\wwIPStuff\wwipstuff.chm::/indexpage.htm which points at a special Microsoft Url Moniker that in turn points the CHM file and a relative path within that HTML help file. Try pasting a URL like this into Internet Explorer and you'll see the help topic pop up in your browser (along with a warning most likely). Although the URL looks weird this still equates to a call to the local computer zone, the same as if you had navigated to a local file in IE which by default is not allowed.  Unfortunately, unlike Internet Explorer where you have the option of clicking a security toolbar, the CHM viewer simply refuses to load the page and you get an error page as shown above. How to Fix This - Unblock the Help File There's a workaround that lets you explicitly 'unblock' a CHM help file. To do this: Open Windows Explorer Find your CHM file Right click and select Properties Click the Unblock button on the General tab Here's what the dialog looks like:   Clicking the Unblock button basically, tells Windows that you approve this Help File and allows topics to be viewed.   Is this insecure? Not unless you're running a really old Version of Windows (XP pre-SP1). In recent versions of Windows Internet Explorer pops up various security dialogs or fires script errors when potentially malicious operations are accessed (like loading Active Controls), so it's relatively safe to run local content in the CHM viewer. Since most help files don't contain script or only load script that runs pure JavaScript access web resources this works fine without issues. How to avoid this Problem As an application developer there's a simple solution around this problem: Always install your Help Files with an Installer. The above security warning pop up because Windows can't validate the source of the CHM file. However, if the help file is installed as part of an installation the installation and all files associated with that installation including the help file are trusted. A fully installed Help File of an application works just fine because it is trusted by Windows. Summary It's annoying as all hell that this sort of obtrusive marking is necessary, but it's admittedly a necessary evil because of Microsoft's use of the insecure Internet Explorer engine that drives the CHM Html Engine's topic viewer.   • How to disable proxy requests once a server has been added to spammers "open proxy" list?

    Hello all, I've just started in a new company, and have been going over the setup of their Apache webserver conf files... only to find that they've had their apache servers set up as open proxies available to all the world for the last two months. I've already set ProxyRequests Off in the httpd.conf file and restarted the web server, but the access log file is still growing at a horrendous rate (about a gig a day). I noticed that another question was posted on here about this (http://serverfault.com/questions/63715/apache-hit-with-proxy-request), but their access log was supposedly returning 404 errors, while mine appears to be returning 403 and 404 codes... Is this correct?   • Adobe Illustrator can't open SVG file

    I have a generated SVG file which for some reason won't open in Adobe Illustrator when I serve the file content from my ASP.net application, but if I were to write this generated file directly to the file system from my ASP.net application, the file opens fine! I've put a zip of the two files here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1761973/Files.zip The zip has two files: Map.svg Test.svg Map.svg doesn't open in Illustrator, it shows up a Text Import Options dialog, and upon clicking OK, will show the XML content of the file. Test.svg opens fine in Illustrator. Doing a comparison of the two files yields NO DIFFERENCES whatsoever! There must be something different in these two files (caused by downloading the generated SVG from the web browser), but I have no idea what?

And here my problem lies as Fileman module is returning html based on the cpanel theme (which we won't know) - and all I need is a list of files. here is the code flow: * using ftp, the zip is uploaded * using Fileman module unpack zip * loop through unpacked files and move here is my call to list the files: $files_html = $xml->api1_query($user, "Fileman", "listfiles", array( "{$ftp_dir}", //source dir 0 //chooser )); and it is returning the html for the filemanager - which is going to be different based on the cpanel theme. Surely their has to be another way to simply just list the files in that directory? any help would be appreciated, been researching this for past day and can't find solution anywhere. cheers ;)

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - OSD Task Sequence failure on physical computers

    I'm trying to deploy windows 7 with SCCM 2012 R2 to physical desktops and laptops. But the task sequence keeps failing, no matter what I try. When I try it on a VM it works fine. However, when I try it on a physical computer it fails. So I think it has something to do with drivers, but I already tried both the "auto apply drivers" + wmi query for model method, and also the "apply driver package" + wmi query for model method.   • SCCM 2012 R2 - OSD Task Sequence failure on physical computers

    I'm trying to deploy windows 7 with SCCM 2012 R2 to physical desktops and laptops. But the task sequence keeps failing, no matter what I try. When I try it on a VM it works fine. However, when I try it on a physical computer it fails. So I think it has something to do with drivers, but I already tried both the "auto apply drivers" + wmi query for model method, and also the "apply driver package" + wmi query for model method.   • Finding a message in an archive in Kerio MailServer 6

    I need to locate some emails from the archive. Kerio is set to archive emails on a daily basis, keeping the last 2 months. From the mail log, I found entries like: [09/Oct/2012 18:02:20] Recv: Queue-ID: 5074589c-00004ddb, Service: SMTP, From: <info@XXXXXXXXXXXX>, To: <Suzette@xxxxxxxxxxx>, Size: 699, Sender-Host: mail.XXXXXXXXXXX, User: automailer@XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX I need to locate this specific email. The archive folder has a lot of ZIP files like: 2012-Oct-06 2012-Oct-07 2012-Oct-08 2012-Oct-09 ... I assumed this would be in the 2012-Oct-09 zip file. I extracted it, and the zip file contains a lot of emails in the /#msgs/ folder, named: 0000000a.eml 0000000b.eml 0000000c.eml ... I did a search for the last part of the Queue-ID, 00004ddb, but it returned no results. I tried other random searches for other emails in the mail log, but I couldn't find a single one. Any idea how one goes about finding such an email in the archive?

  • Install problems with XSendFile on Ubuntu

    I installed the apache dev headers: sudo apt-get install apache2-prefork-dev Downloaded and compiled the module as outlined here: http://tn123.ath.cx/mod_xsendfile/ Added the following line to /etc/apache2/mods-available/xsendfile.load: LoadModule xsendfile_module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/mod_xsendfile.so Added this to my VirtualHost: <VirtualHost *:80> XSendFile on XSendFilePath /path/to/protected/files/ Enabled the module by doing: sudo a2enmod xsendfile Then I restarted Apache. Then this code still just provides me with an empty file with 0 bytes: file_path = '/path/to/protected/files/some_file.zip' file_name = 'some_file.zip' response = HttpResponse('', mimetype='application/zip') response['Content-Disposition'] = 'attachment; filename=%s' % smart_str(file_name) response['X-Sendfile'] = smart_str(file_path) return response And there is not in the Apache error log that pertains to XSendFile. What am I doing wrong?
