  • Flex 3 - How to read data dynamically from XML

    Hi Everyone, I'm new at Flex and I wanted to know how to read an xml file to pull its data into a chart, using Flex Builder 3. Even though I've read and done some tutorials, I haven't seen any of them loading the data dynamically.     I haven't been here in so long, I forgot my prior account! Anyways, I am working on parsing an xml document that comes in ugly. It is for banking statements. Each line is a <statement>all tags</statement>. Now, what I need to do is read this file in, and parse the XML document at the same time, while formatting it more human readable too. I need to check every single tag in transaction elements, and if a tag is missing that could be there, I have to fill it in. Our designer software will default prior values in if a tag is possible, and the current objects does not have. It defaults in the value of a prior one that was not Null. "I know, and they swear up and down it is not a bug... ok?" So, that is also taking about 5 to 10 minutes. I need to break all this down, and find a faster method for working with the initial XML. This is a preprocess action, and cannot take that long if not necessary. It just seems redundant. Is there a better way to parse the XML, or is this the best I can do? I parse the XML, write to a temp file, and then read that file in, to the output file inserting the missing tags. 2 IO runs for one process. Yuck.

  • Model value not being set on return from View to Controller

    I have a boolean model variable who's value is supposed to be set to TRUE in order to perform a process on return back into the Controller. It works absolutely fine on my local machine, but not on the remote web server. Can somebody PLEASE inform me what I am missing? The last alert shows that the value of the bool variable is "true". However, when I do page source views of the hidden variable, below is the result. The values of the hidden variable when the page loads and when the last alert button finishes are as follows: My local machine: The remote machine: As you can see, the value on my machine is set to true when the process executes. However, on the remote machine, it is set to false where it then doesn't excute. Why isn't the value in the model being returned as TRUE on the remote machine?

  • Reading input from a text file, omits the first and adds a nonsense value to the end?

    Hi there When I input locations from a txt file I am getting a peculiar error where it seems to miss off the first entry, yet add a garbage entry to the end of the link list (it is designed to take the name, latitude and longitude for each location you will notice). I imagine this to be an issue with where it starts collecting the inputs and where it stops but I cant find the error!! It reads the first line correctly but then skips to the next before adding it because during testing for the bug it had no record of the first location Lisbon though whilst stepping into the method call it was reading it. Very bizarre but hopefully someone knows the issue.   • KVM machine does not start ssh, network is started, used to work

    have been searching an pulling my hear out for the last 6 hours. I have a virtual machine that has been running fine for the last six months. I was happy ssh'ing into it and it was running a database and some small apps. Tonight ssh stopped working, so I decided to reboot the machine. I now have the following situation: virsh list --all states machine as running I can ping the machine and get a reply When I ssh to the machine I see "ssh: connect to host [myserver] port 22: Connection refused" nmap does not show port 22 as open I have tried to: - reboot the machine once more (no luck) - mount the filesystem and check /etc/ssh/sshd.conf (has not changed since working situation) - install virsh console, however this does not seem to work When I mount the fs directly using losetup the strange thing is that file dates seem to be frozen in /var/log/ around the time of the crash. If I look in /var/run/ I can see an sshd.pid, but the time is 6 hours ago (and numerous reboots).   • ASP.NET MVC: Using jQuery context menu with tables

    I needed to add context menus to some tables of my intranet application. After trying some components I found one that does everything I need and has no overhead. In this posting I will show you how to use jQuery context menu plug-in and how to attach it to tables. I found context menu plug-in by Chris Domigan and it was very easy to integrate to my application (when comparing some other plug-ins that work only on demo pages and in simple scenarios). Thanks, Chris, for great work! Now let’s use this context menu plug-in with table. Before we go on let’s see what we are trying to achieve. The following screenshot fragment shows simple context menu that we want to attach to our table. And when we click some menu option then something should happen too. :) Installing context menu plug-in Download plug-in (if download link is broken then open demo page and I think you know how to get plug-in from there). Copy jquery.contextmenu.js to your scripts folder. Include it in your masterpage or in the page where you plan to use context menus. Make sure plug-in is included correctly (use Firebug or some other tool you like). Save the page. Defining context menu Now let’s define context menu. Take a look at bindings. We gave ID to table cells because it is carried also to bound events. We can use also more complex ID-s if we have more than one table with context menus on our form. Now we are done. Save all files, compile solution, run it and try out how context menu works. Conclusion We saw than using jQuery with context menu component allows us easily create powerful context menus for our user interfaces. Context menu was very easy to define. We were also able to attach context menu to table and use ID of current row entity also in events of context menu. To achieve this we needed only some minor modifications in view and couple of lines of JavaScript.

This is then removed when one of the other tier_1 items is hovered. This way the pretty color icon can stay visible while someone looks at the nested elements. Not even sure all that is possible with hover, but I figured if anyone would know a way it would be here.
