  • Job queue manager with RPC interface

    - by admr
    I need a job queue manager that I can control over the Internet. It should be able to execute and stop processes, check on their status (ideally notice and execute some code when a process exits), respond to commands and also be able to report back to a server. Background: I have a GWT application that allows to create jobs to execute on a cloud instance (currently EC2). I want to push a "job packet" (data for a process to operate on etc) to S3, start a Linux EC2 instance (or use one that's already running), and tell a job manager on the instance to execute that job (possibly parallel to other jobs). It should then pull the "job packet" from S3, run a process that operates on that data and report back to the server that is running the server part of my GWT application with some information (e.g. exit code, stdout, stderr). If I have to write e.g. stdour/err to a file from the process and read that file, that's OK too. I would really like the manager to be "close" to the processes it runs, meaning I want to avoid using something like Runtime.exec from the JDK. It seems like I would have to do that if I used Quartz for example. I'm fine with the calls in both directions being asynchronous. I'm fine with any reasonable technology for the calls as long as I can easily build an interface for that in my GWT server side (e.g. HTTP requests to a servlet over SSL would be nice and trivial). The job manager does not need to have a very sophisticated queueing system. Running several processes either sequentially or in parallel should be fine. Determining how much compute time a process received during its lifetime would be nice (AFAIK, this might be challenging). I did not yet find any existing software that does this, including http://java-source.net/open-source/job-schedulers. I suspect I might have to build an RPC interface (with authentication etc, of course) around a job manager; maybe use something like Apache Commons Exec. In that case, I would prefer Java or Python for the job manager part. I would be happy to hear suggestions for either the former or latter scenario!

  • Jboss logging issue - pl check this

    - by balaji
    I’m Working as deployer and server administrator. We use Jboss 4.0x AS to deploy our applications. The issue I'm facing is, Whenever we redeploy/restart the server, server.log is getting created but after sometime the logging goes off. Yes it is not at all updating the server.log file. Due to this, we could not trace the other critical issues we have. Actually we have two separate nodes and we do deploy/restarting the server separately on two nodes. We are facing the issue in both of our test and production environment. I could not trace out where exactly the issue is. Could you please help me in resolving the issue? If we have any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analyzing the issues without the recent/updated logs? Below are the logs found in the stdout.log: 18:55:50,303 INFO [Server] Core system initialized 18:55:52,296 INFO [WebService] Using RMI server codebase: http://kl121tez.is.klmcorp.net:8083/ 18:55:52,313 INFO [Log4jService$URLWatchTimerTask] Configuring from URL: resource:log4j.xml 18:55:52,860 ERROR [STDERR] LOG0026E The Log Manager cannot create the object AmasRBPFTraceLogger without a class name. 18:55:52,860 ERROR [STDERR] LOG0026E The Log Manager cannot create the object AmasRBPFMessageLogger without a class name. 18:55:54,273 ERROR [STDERR] LOG0026E The Log Manager cannot create the object AmasCacheTraceLogger without a class name. 18:55:54,274 ERROR [STDERR] LOG0026E The Log Manager cannot create the object AmasCacheMessageLogger without a class name. 18:55:54,334 ERROR [STDERR] LOG0026E The Log Manager cannot create the object JACCTraceLogger without a class name. 18:55:54,334 ERROR [STDERR] LOG0026E The Log Manager cannot create the object JACCMessageLogger without a class name. 18:55:56,059 INFO [ServiceEndpointManager] WebServices: jbossws-1.0.3.SP1 (date=200609291417) 18:55:56,635 INFO [Embedded] Catalina naming disabled 18:55:56,671 INFO [ClusterRuleSetFactory] Unable to find a cluster rule set in the classpath. • Daemonize() issues on Debian

    - by djTeller
    Hi, I'm currently writing a multi-process client and a multi-treaded server for some project i have. The server is a Daemon. In order to accomplish that, i'm using the following daemonize() code: static void daemonize(void) { pid_t pid, sid; /* already a daemon */ if ( getppid() == 1 ) return; /* Fork off the parent process */ pid = fork(); if (pid < 0) { exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } /* If we got a good PID, then we can exit the parent process. */ if (pid > 0) { exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); } /* At this point we are executing as the child process */ /* Change the file mode mask */ umask(0); /* Create a new SID for the child process */ sid = setsid(); if (sid < 0) { exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } /* Change the current working directory. This prevents the current directory from being locked; hence not being able to remove it. */ if ((chdir("/")) < 0) { exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } /* Redirect standard files to /dev/null */ freopen( "/dev/null", "r", stdin); freopen( "/dev/null", "w", stdout); freopen( "/dev/null", "w", stderr); } int main( int argc, char *argv[] ) { daemonize(); /* Now we are a daemon -- do the work for which we were paid */ return 0; } I have a strange side effect when testing the server on Debian (Ubuntu). The accept() function always fail to accept connections, the pid returned is -1 I have no idea what causing this, since in RedHat & CentOS it works well. When i remove the call to daemonize(), everything works well on Debian, when i add it back, same accept() error reproduce. I've been monitring the /proc//fd, everything looks good. Something in the daemonize() and the Debian release just doesn't seem to work. (Debian GNU/Linux 5.0, Linux 2.6.26-2-286 #1 SMP) Any idea what causing this? Thank you

  • "Use of uninitialised value" despite of memset

    - by Framester
    Hi there, I allocate a 2d array and use memset to fill it with zeros. #include<stdio.h> #include<string.h> #include<stdlib.h> void main() { int m=10; int n =10; int **array_2d; array_2d = (int**) malloc(m*sizeof(int*)); if(array_2d==NULL) { printf("\n Could not malloc 2d array \n"); exit(1); } for(int i=0;i<m;i++) { ((array_2d)[i])=malloc(n*sizeof(int)); memset(((array_2d)[i]),0,sizeof(n*sizeof(int))); } for(int i=0; i<10;i++){ for(int j=0; j<10;j++){ printf("(%i,%i)=",i,j); fflush(stdout); printf("%i ", array_2d[i][j]); } printf("\n"); } } Afterwards I use valgrind [1] to check for memory errors. I get following error: Conditional jump or move depends on uninitialised value(s) for line 24 (printf("%i ", array_2d[i][j]);). I always thought memset is the function to initialize arrays. How can I get rid off this error? Thanks!   • How to pipe two CORE::system commands in a cross-platform way

    - by Pedro Silva
    I'm writing a System::Wrapper module to abstract away from CORE::system and the qx operator. I have a serial method that attempts to connect command1's output to command2's input. I've made some progress using named pipes, but POSIX::mkfifo is not cross-platform. Here's part of what I have so far (the run method at the bottom basically calls system): package main; my $obj1 = System::Wrapper->new( interpreter => 'perl', arguments => [-pe => q{''}], input => ['input.txt'], description => 'Concatenate input.txt to STDOUT', ); my $obj2 = System::Wrapper->new( interpreter => 'perl', arguments => [-pe => q{'$_ = reverse $_}'}], description => 'Reverse lines of input input', output => { '>' => 'output' }, ); $obj1->serial( $obj2 ); package System::Wrapper; #... sub serial { my ($self, @commands) = @_; eval { require POSIX; POSIX->import(); require threads; }; my $tmp_dir = File::Spec->tmpdir(); my $last = $self; my @threads; push @commands, $self; for my $command (@commands) { croak sprintf "%s::serial: type of args to serial must be '%s', not '%s'", ref $self, ref $self, ref $command || $command unless ref $command eq ref $self; my $named_pipe = File::Spec->catfile( $tmp_dir, int \$command ); POSIX::mkfifo( $named_pipe, 0777 ) or croak sprintf "%s::serial: couldn't create named pipe %s: %s", ref $self, $named_pipe, $!; $last->output( { '>' => $named_pipe } ); $command->input( $named_pipe ); push @threads, threads->new( sub{ $last->run } ); $last = $command; } $_->join for @threads; } #... My specific questions: Is there an alternative to POSIX::mkfifo that is cross-platform? Win32 named pipes don't work, as you can't open those as regular files, neither do sockets, for the same reasons. The above doesn't quite work; the two threads get spawned correctly, but nothing flows across the pipe. I suppose that might have something to do with pipe deadlocking or output buffering. What throws me off is that when I run those two commands in the actual shell, everything works as expected.

  • C++ stream as a parameter when overloading operator<<

    - by TheOm3ga
    I'm trying to write my own logging class and use it as a stream: logger L; L << "whatever" << std::endl; This is the code I started with: #include <iostream> using namespace std; class logger{ public: template <typename T> friend logger& operator <<(logger& log, const T& value); }; template <typename T> logger& operator <<(logger& log, T const & value) { // Here I'd output the values to a file and stdout, etc. cout << value; return log; } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { logger L; L << "hello" << '\n' ; // This works L << "bye" << "alo" << endl; // This doesn't work return 0; } But I was getting an error when trying to compile, saying that there was no definition for operator<<: pruebaLog.cpp:31: error: no match for ‘operator<<’ in ‘operator<< [with T = char [4]](((logger&)((logger*)operator<< [with T = char [4]](((logger&)(& L)), ((const char (&)[4])"bye")))), ((const char (&)[4])"alo")) << std::endl’ So, I've been trying to overload operator<< to accept this kind of streams, but it's driving me mad. I don't know how to do it. I've been loking at, for instance, the definition of std::endl at the ostream header file and written a function with this header: logger& operator <<(logger& log, const basic_ostream<char,char_traits<char> >& (*s)(basic_ostream<char,char_traits<char> >&)) But no luck. I've tried the same using templates instead of directly using char, and also tried simply using "const ostream& os", and nothing. Another thing that bugs me is that, in the error output, the first argument for operator<< changes, sometimes it's a reference to a pointer, sometimes looks like a double reference...

  • Socket connection to a telnet-based server hangs on read

    - by mixwhit
    I'm trying to write a simple socket-based client in Python that will connect to a telnet server. I can test the server by telnetting to its port (5007), and entering text. It responds with a NAK (error) or an AK (success), sometimes accompanied by other text. Seems very simple. I wrote a client to connect and communicate with the server, but it hangs on the first attempt to read the response. The connection is successful. Queries like getsockname and getpeername are successful. The send command returns a value that equals the number of characters I'm sending, so it seems to be sending correctly. But in the end, it always hangs when I try to read the response. I've tried using both file-based objects like readline and write (via socket.makefile), as well as using send and recv. With the file object I tried making it with "rw" and reading and writing via that object, and later tried one object for "r" and another for "w" to separate them. None of these worked. I used a packet sniffer to watch what's going on. I'm not versed in all that I'm seeing, but during a telnet session I can see my typed text and the server's text coming back. During my Python socket connection, I can see my text going to the server, but packets back don't seem to have any text in them. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong, or any strategies to try? Here's the code I'm using (in this case, it's with send and recv): #!/usr/bin/python host = "localhost" port = 5007 msg = "HELLO EMC 1 1" msg2 = "HELLO" import socket import sys try: skt = socket.socket(socket.AF_INET, socket.SOCK_STREAM) except socket.error, e: print("Error creating socket: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) try: skt.connect((host,port)) except socket.gaierror, e: print("Address-related error connecting to server: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) except socket.error, e: print("Error connecting to socket: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) try: print(skt.send(msg)) print("SEND: %s" % msg) except socket.error, e: print("Error sending data: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) while 1: try: buf = skt.recv(1024) print("RECV: %s" % buf) except socket.error, e: print("Error receiving data: %s" % e) sys.exit(1) if not len(buf): break sys.stdout.write(buf)

  • can't read from stream until child exits?

    - by BobTurbo
    OK I have a program that creates two pipes - forks - the child's stdin and stdout are redirected to one end of each pipe - the parent is connected to the other ends of the pipes and tries to read the stream associated with the child's output and print it to the screen (and I will also make it write to the input of the child eventually). The problem is, when the parent tries to fgets the child's output stream, it just stalls and waits until the child dies to fgets and then print the output. If the child doesn't exit, it just waits forever. What is going on? I thought that maybe fgets would block until SOMETHING was in the stream, but not block all the way until the child gives up its file descriptors. Here is the code: #include <stdlib.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <unistd.h> int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { FILE* fpin; FILE* fpout; int input_fd[2]; int output_fd[2]; pid_t pid; int status; char input[100]; char output[100]; char *args[] = {"/somepath/someprogram", NULL}; fgets(input, 100, stdin); // the user inputs the program name to exec pipe(input_fd); pipe(output_fd); pid = fork(); if (pid == 0) { close(input_fd[1]); close(output_fd[0]); dup2(input_fd[0], 0); dup2(output_fd[1], 1); input[strlen(input)-1] = '\0'; execvp(input, args); } else { close(input_fd[0]); close(output_fd[1]); fpin = fdopen(input_fd[1], "w"); fpout = fdopen(output_fd[0], "r"); while(!feof(fpout)) { fgets(output, 100, fpout); printf("output: %s\n", output); } } return 0; }

  • Configuring Jenkins for running with BitBucket

    - by Claus
    I'm trying to setup Jenkins on my mac mini in order to pull my iOS project source code from BitBucket and build it automatically. I've already gone through the major well know problems generating the ssh keys,uploading them in BitBucket,performing an ssh connection by console for adding the host to the well know list (you can find all my adventure here and here). Now,there are 3 user in my system: A,B and Shared. When I installed Jenkins it automatically placed itself in Shared, but I generated the ssh keys with the user A. So just to be clear In the A home directory there is an .ssh directory with public and private keys. When I try to run by Jenkins job I get this error message: Started by user anonymous Building in workspace /Users/Shared/Jenkins/Home/jobs/myprojectAdHocBuild/workspace Checkout:workspace / /Users/Shared/Jenkins/Home/jobs/myprojectAdHocBuild/workspace - hudson.remoting.LocalChannel@625cb0bb Using strategy: Default Cloning the remote Git repository Cloning repository [email protected]:myuser/myproject.git git --version git version 1.8.0 ERROR: Error cloning remote repo 'origin' : Could not clone [email protected]:myuser/myproject.git hudson.plugins.git.GitException: Could not clone [email protected]:myuser/myproject.git at hudson.plugins.git.GitAPI.clone(GitAPI.java:271) at hudson.plugins.git.GitSCM$2.invoke(GitSCM.java:1036) at hudson.plugins.git.GitSCM$2.invoke(GitSCM.java:978) at hudson.FilePath.act(FilePath.java:851) at hudson.FilePath.act(FilePath.java:824) at hudson.plugins.git.GitSCM.determineRevisionToBuild(GitSCM.java:978) at hudson.plugins.git.GitSCM.checkout(GitSCM.java:1134) at hudson.model.AbstractProject.checkout(AbstractProject.java:1325) at hudson.model.AbstractBuild$AbstractBuildExecution.defaultCheckout(AbstractBuild.java:676) at jenkins.scm.SCMCheckoutStrategy.checkout(SCMCheckoutStrategy.java:88) at hudson.model.AbstractBuild$AbstractBuildExecution.run(AbstractBuild.java:581) at hudson.model.Run.execute(Run.java:1516) at hudson.model.FreeStyleBuild.run(FreeStyleBuild.java:46) at hudson.model.ResourceController.execute(ResourceController.java:88) at hudson.model.Executor.run(Executor.java:236) Caused by: hudson.plugins.git.GitException: Command "/usr/local/git/bin/git clone --progress -o origin [email protected]:myuser/myproject.git /Users/Shared/Jenkins/Home/jobs/myprojectAdHocBuild/workspace" returned status code 128: stdout: Cloning into '/Users/Shared/Jenkins/Home/jobs/myprojectAdHocBuild/workspace'... stderr: Host key verification failed. fatal: Could not read from remote repository. • Rsync: how to mount truecrypt on-the-fly on the receiving side?

    - by deepc
    The short version: how can I keep an rsync backup on a truecrypt volume? The hard part is to mount/unmount this volume on the fly when it is needed for rsync. Details This is my current backup configuration (which works fairly well for the most part): backup source is on Win7 64 bit, destination is a remote Linux box (Debian) actual data transfer is done by rsync via ssh (cwRsync with cygwin) rsync daemon is started on demand via ssh On the Linux box the backup is protected by file permissions only. I want to increase security here and put the backup into a truecrypt volume. I can fuse-mount that volume manually in the shell. The question is now how can I make rsync not only open an ssh connection and starting the rsync daemon, but also to mount the truecrypt volume before (and unmount it after)? My money is on option --rsync-path which can be used to pass a command line to ssh - provided that stdin and stdout still work the same. I guess that command would have to be a shell script. Is this possible, and what would the script look like? For reference, here's a quote of that option: --rsync-path=PROGRAM Use this to specify what program is to be run on the remote machine to start-up rsync. Often used when rsync is not in the default remote-shell's path (e.g. --rsync-path=/usr/local/bin/rsync). Note that PROGRAM is run with the help of a shell, so it can be any program, script, or command sequence you'd care to run, so long as it does not corrupt the standard-in & standard-out that rsync is using to communicate. One tricky example is to set a different default directory on the remote machine for use with the --relative option. For instance: rsync -avR --rsync-path="cd /a/b && rsync" host:c/d /e/ This is the full rsync man page. Truecrypt volume auto-mount Solved! Turns out this option is actually key to auto-mounting the truecrypt volume on the remote side. The following command line does the trick (one line!): rsync $options -e "ssh -p $port -i ../.ssh/id_dsa" --rsync-path="/usr/local/bin/truecrypt -d && /usr/local/bin/truecrypt --fs-options=rw,sync,utf8,uid=$UID,umask=0007 --non-interactive -p $password $pathToVolume $remoteMountDir && rsync" $localSourceDir $user:$remoteMountMountDir Truecrypt volume auto-dismount Still open: how can I unmount the volume when rsync is done? Not sure if the following makes sense to anyone but I give it a try... Right now I am unmounting (truecrypt -d), then mounting again, then continuing with rsync. At this time rsync needs to do its thing but I dont know when its done. Adding ... rsync && truecrypt -d to the command line does not work because then the rsync daemon does not start. This is because rsync starts the daemon with parameter --server on the remote side and that parameter would go to the final truecrypt -d.

  • Running two wsgi applications on the same server gdal org exception with apache2/modwsgi

    - by monkut
    I'm trying to run two wsgi applications, one django and the other tilestache using the same server. The tilestache server accesses the db via django to query the db. In the process of serving tiles it performs a transform on the incoming bbox, and in this process hit's the following error. The transform works without error for the specific bbox polygon when run manually from the python shell: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/TileStache/__init__.py", line 325, in __call__ mimetype, content = requestHandler(self.config, environ['PATH_INFO'], environ['QUERY_STRING']) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/TileStache/__init__.py", line 231, in requestHandler mimetype, content = getTile(layer, coord, extension) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/TileStache/__init__.py", line 84, in getTile tile = layer.render(coord, format) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/TileStache/Core.py", line 295, in render tile = provider.renderArea(width, height, srs, xmin, ymin, xmax, ymax, coord.zoom) File "/var/www/tileserver/providers.py", line 59, in renderArea bbox.transform(METERS_SRID) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django/contrib/gis/geos/geometry.py", line 520, in transform g = gdal.OGRGeometry(self.wkb, srid) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django/contrib/gis/gdal/geometries.py", line 131, in __init__ self.__class__ = GEO_CLASSES[self.geom_type.num] File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django/contrib/gis/gdal/geometries.py", line 245, in geom_type return OGRGeomType(capi.get_geom_type(self.ptr)) File "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/django/contrib/gis/gdal/geomtype.py", line 43, in __init__ raise OGRException('Invalid OGR Integer Type: %d' % type_input) OGRException: Invalid OGR Integer Type: 1987180391 I think I've hit the non thread safe issue with GDAL, metioned on the django site. Is there a way I could configure this so that it would work? I've worked around the issue for now by changing the srs used in the db so that the transform is unnecessary in tilestache app. I don't understand why the transform() method, when called in the django app works, but then in the tilestache app fails. tilestache.wsgi #!/usr/bin/python import os import time import sys import TileStache current_dir = os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(__file__)) project_dir = os.path.realpath(os.path.join(current_dir, "..", "..")) sys.path.append(project_dir) sys.path.append(current_dir) os.environ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] = 'bin.settings' sys.stdout = sys.stderr # wait for the apache django lbs server to start up, # --> in order to retrieve the tilestache cfg time.sleep(2) tilestache_config_url = "http://127.0.0.1/tilestache/config/" application = TileStache.WSGITileServer(tilestache_config_url) UPDATE 2 So it turned out I did need to use a projection other than the google (900913) one in the db. So my previous workaround failed. While I'd like to fix this issue, I decided to work around the issue this type by making a django view that performs the transform needed. So now tilestache requests the data through the django app and not internally.

  • Oracle Coherence & Oracle Service Bus: REST API Integration

    - by Nino Guarnacci
    This post aims to highlight one of the features found in Oracle Coherence which allows it to be easily added and integrated inside a wider variety of projects.  The features in question are the REST API exposed by the Coherence nodes, with which you can interact in the wider mode in memory data grid.Oracle Coherence and Oracle Service Bus are natively integrated through a feature found in the Oracle Service Bus, which allows you to use the coherence grid cache during the configuration phase of a business service. This feature allows you to use an intermediate layer of cache to retrieve the answers from previous invocations of the same service, without necessarily having to invoke the real business service again. Directly from the web console of Oracle Service Bus, you can decide the policies of eviction of the objects / answers and define the discriminating parameters that identify their uniqueness.The coherence REST APIs, however, allow you to integrate both products for other necessities enabling realization of new architectures design.  Consider coherence’s node as a simple service which interoperates through the stardard services and in particular REST (with JSON and XML). Thinking of coherence as a company’s shared service, able to have an implementation of a centralized “map and reduce” which you can access  by a huge variety of protocols (transport and envelopes).An amazing step forward for those who still imagine connectors and code. This type of integration does not require writing custom code or complex implementation to be self-supported. The added value is made unique by the incredible value of both products independently, and still more out of their simple and robust integration.As already mentioned this scenario discovers a hidden new door behind the columns of these two products. The door leads to new ideas and perspectives for enterprise architectures that increasingly wink to next-generation applications: simple and dynamic, perhaps towards the mobile and web 2.0.Below, a small and simple demo useful to demonstrate how easily is to integrate these two products using the Coherence REST API. This demo is also intended to imagine new enterprise architectures using this approach.The idea is to create a centralized system of alerting, fed easily from any company’s application, regardless of the technology with which they were built . Then use a representation standard protocol: RSS, using a service exposed by the service bus; So you can browse and search only the alerts that you are interested on, by category, author, title, date, etc etc.. The steps needed to implement this system are very simple and very few. Here they are listed below and described to be easily replicated within your environment. I would remind you that the demo is only meant to demonstrate how easily is to integrate Oracle Coherence and the Oracle Service Bus, and stimulate your imagination to new technological approaches.1) Install the two products: In this demo used (if necessary, consult the installation guides of 2 products)  - Oracle Service Bus ver. 11.1.1.5.0 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/service-bus/downloads/index.html - Oracle Coherence ver. 3.7.1 http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/coherence/downloads/index.html 2) Because you choose to create a centralized alerting system, we need to define a structure type containing some alerting attributes useful to preserve and organize the information of the various alerts sent by the different applications. Here, then it was built a java class named Alert containing the canonical properties of an alarm information:- Title- Description- System- Time- Severity 3) Therefore, we need to create two configuration files for the coherence node, in order to save the Alert objects within the grid, through the rest/http protocol (more than the native API for Java, C + +, C,. Net). Here are the two minimal configuration files for Coherence:coherence-rest-config.xml resty-server-config.xml This minimum configuration allows me to use a distributed cache named "alerts" that can  also be accessed via http - rest on the host "localhost" over port "8080", objects are of type “oracle.cohsb.Alert”. 4) Below  a simple Java class that represents the type of alert messages: 5) At this point we just need to startup our coherence node, able to listen on http protocol to manage the “alerts” cache, which will receive incoming XML or JSON objects of type Alert. Remember to include in the classpath of the coherence node, the Alert java class and the following coherence libraries and configuration files:  At this point, just run the coherence class node “com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer”advising you to set the following parameters:-Dtangosol.coherence.log.level=9 -Dtangosol.coherence.log=stdout -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=[PATH_TO_THE_FILE]\resty-server-config.xml 6) Let's create a procedure to test our configuration of Coherence and in order to insert some custom alerts in our cache. The technology with which you want to achieve this functionality is fully not considerable: Javascript, Python, Ruby, Scala, C + +, Java.... Because the protocol to communicate with Coherence is simply HTTP / JSON or XML. For this little demo i choose Java: A method to send/put the alert to the cache: A method to query and view the content of the cache: Finally the main method that execute our methods:  No special library added in the classpath for our class (json struct static defined), when it will be executed, it asks some information such as title, description,... in order to compose and send an alert to the cache and then it will perform an inquiry, to the same cache. At this point, a good exercise at this point, may be to create the same procedure using other technologies, such as a simple html page containing some JavaScript code, and then using Python, Ruby, and so on.7) Now we are ready to start configuring the Oracle Service Bus in order to integrate the two products. First integrate the internal alerting system of Oracle Service Bus with our centralized alerting system based on coherence node. This ensures that by monitoring, or directly from within our Proxy Message Flow, we can throw alerts and save them directly into the Coherence node. To do this I choose to use the jms technology, natively present inside the Oracle Weblogic / Service Bus. Access to the Oracle WebLogic Administration console and create and configure a new JMS connection factory and a new jms destination (queue). Now we should create a new resource of type “alert destination” within our Oracle Service Bus project. The new “alert destination” resource should be configured using the newly created connection factory jms and jms destination. Finally, in order to withdraw the message alert enqueued in our JMS destination and send it to our coherence node, we just need to create a new business service and proxy service within our Oracle Service Bus project.Our business service is responsible for sending a message to our REST service Coherence using as a method action: PUT Finally our proxy service have to collect all messages enqueued on the destination, execute an xquery transformation on those messages  in order to translate them into valid XML / alert objects useful to be sent to our coherence service, through the newly created business service. The message flow pipeline containing the xquery transformation: Incredibly,  we just did a basic first integration between the native alerting system of Oracle Service Bus and our centralized alerting system by simply configuring our coherence node without developing anything.It's time to test it out. To do this I create a proxy service able to generate an alert using our "alert destination", whenever the proxy is invoked. After some invocation to our proxy that generates fake alerts, we could open an Internet browser and type the URL  http://localhost: 8080/alerts/  so we could see what has been inserted within the coherence node. 8) We are ready for the final step.  We would create a new message flow, that can be used to search and display the results in standard mode. To do this I choosen the standard representation of RSS, to display a formatted result on a huge variety of devices such as readers for the iPhone and Android. The inquiry may be defined already at the time of the request able to return only feed / items related to our needs. To do this we need to create a new business service, a new proxy service, and finally a new XQuery Transformation to take care of translating the collection of alerts that will be return from our coherence node in a nicely formatted RSS standard document.So we start right from this resource (xquery), which has the task of transforming a collection of alerts / xml returned from the node coherence in a type well-formatted feed RSS 2.0 our new business service that will search the alerts on our coherence node using the Rest API. And finally, our last resource, the proxy service that will be exposed as an RSS / feeds to various mobile devices and traditional web readers, in which we will intercept any search query, and transform the result returned by the business service in an RSS feed 2.0. The message flow with the transformation phase (Alert TO Feed Items): Finally some little tricks to follow during the routing to the business service, - check for any queries present in the url to require a subset of alerts  - the http header "Accept" to help get an answer XML instead of JSON: In our little demo we also static added some coherence parameters to the request:sort=time:desc;start=0;count=100I would like to get from Coherence that the results will be sorted by date, and starting from 1 up to a maximum of 100.Done!!Just incredible, our centralized alerting system is ready. Inheriting all the qualities and capabilities of the two products involved Oracle Coherence & Oracle Service Bus: - RASP (Reliability, Availability, Scalability, Performance)Now try to use your mobile device, or a normal Internet browser by accessing the RSS just published: Some urls you may test: Search for the last 100 alerts : http://localhost:7001/alarmsSearch for alerts that do not have time set to null (time is not null):http://localhost:7001/alarms?q=time+is+not+nullSearch for alerts that the system property is “Web Browser” (system = ‘Web Browser’):http://localhost:7001/alarms?q=system+%3D+%27Web+Browser%27Search for alerts that the system property is “Web Browser” and the severity property is “Fatal” and the title property contain the word “Javascript”  (system = ‘Web Broser’ and severity = ‘Fatal’ and title like ‘%Javascript%’)http://localhost:8080/alerts?q=system+%3D+%27Web+Browser%27+AND+severity+%3D+%27Fatal%27+AND+title+LIKE+%27%25Javascript%25%27 To compose more complex queries about your need I would suggest you to read the chapter in the coherence documentation inherent the Cohl language (Coherence Query Language) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E24290_01/coh.371/e22837/api_cq.htm . • How to mount a blu-ray drive?

    - by Stephan Schielke
    Maybe it is for the best to close this question. This has nothing to do with a bluray drive in general anymore. Probably a hardware defect. I will try to test it with a windows system and different cables again... Thx so far. I have a bluray/dvd/cdrom drive with SATA. Ubuntu wont find it under /dev/sd wodim --devices wodim: Overview of accessible drives (1 found) : ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 dev='/dev/sg2' rwrw-- : 'HL-DT-ST' 'BDDVDRW CH08LS10' ------------------------------------------------------------------------- cdrecord -scanbus scsibus2: 2,0,0 200) 'HL-DT-ST' 'BDDVDRW CH08LS10' '2.00' Removable CD-ROM fdisk dont even lists it. Ubuntu only automounts blank DVDs, but neither CDROM nor Blurays. I also changed the sata slot, sata cable and the power cable. The drive works with a windows system. This happens when I try to mount: sudo mount -t auto /dev/scd0 /media/bluray mount: you must specify the filesystem type I tried all filesystems there are. I also installed makemkv. This can come in handy when troubleshooting: using System; using System.Diagnostics; using System.Text;   namespace Thinktecture.Azure {     class Program     {         static EventLog _eventLog = new EventLog("Application", ".", "StartupTaskShell");         static StringBuilder _out = new StringBuilder(64);         static StringBuilder _err = new StringBuilder(64);           static int Main(string[] args)         {             if (args.Length != 1)             {                 Console.WriteLine("Invalid arguments: " + String.Join(", ", args));                 _eventLog.WriteEntry("Invalid arguments: " + String.Join(", ", args));                                 return -1;             }               var task = args[0];               ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo()             {                 FileName = task,                 WorkingDirectory = Environment.CurrentDirectory,                 UseShellExecute = false,                 ErrorDialog = false,                 CreateNoWindow = true,                 RedirectStandardOutput = true,                 RedirectStandardError = true             };               var process = new Process();             process.StartInfo = info;               process.OutputDataReceived += (s, e) =>                 {                     if (e.Data != null)                     {                         _out.AppendLine(e.Data);                     }                 };             process.ErrorDataReceived += (s, e) =>                 {                     if (e.Data != null)                     {                         _err.AppendLine(e.Data);                     }                 };               process.Start();             process.BeginOutputReadLine();             process.BeginErrorReadLine();             process.WaitForExit();               var outString = _out.ToString();             var errString = _err.ToString();               if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(outString))             {                 outString = String.Format("Standard Out for {0}\n\n{1}", task, outString);                 _eventLog.WriteEntry(outString, EventLogEntryType.Information);             }               if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(errString))             {                 errString = String.Format("Standard Err for {0}\n\n{1}", task, errString);                 _eventLog.WriteEntry(errString, EventLogEntryType.Error);             }               return 0;         }     } } You then wrap your startup tasks with the StartupTaskShell and you’ll be able to see stdout and stderr in the application event log.

  • Ruby Debug IDE error : ruby-debug-ide-0.4.9/lib/ruby-debug-ide.rb:109:in `debug_load'

    - by Paul
    I hope someone can assist me. I have RubyMine 2.0.2 installed on Windows 7 32 bit computer. Since a week ago (I presume it must have been after I have update some gems) I cant seem to debug form the IDE. I am trying to debug a rake task which I could before. Running the rake task normally works perfect, just debug doesnt. Its not just limited to the rake, I cant debug any ruby files. I've tried installing older versions of debug-ide and debug-base but to no success. I've tried it with ruby 1.8.7 and 1.8.6 on different computers but nothing. Trying to search the web gave some information, which I've tried, but also no success. Im desperate to get this working. Below are the full error and my current settings: Error: C:\InstantRails\ruby\bin\ruby.exe -e STDOUT.sync=true;STDERR.sync=true;load($0=ARGV.shift) C:\InstantRails\ruby\bin/rdebug-ide --port 57167 -- C:/InstantRails/rails_apps/paperserve/lib/tasks/poll_snmp.rake Fast Debugger (ruby-debug-ide 0.4.9) listens on :57167 C:/InstantRails/rails_apps/paperserve/lib/tasks/poll_snmp.rake:5 C:/InstantRails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ruby-debug-ide-0.4.9/lib/ruby-debug ide.rb:109:in `debug_load' C:/InstantRails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ruby-debug-ide-0.4.9/lib/ruby-debug ide.rb:109:in `debug_program' C:/InstantRails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/ruby-debug-ide-0.4.9/bin/rdebug-ide:87 C:\InstantRails\ruby\bin/rdebug-ide:19:in `load' C:\InstantRails\ruby\bin/rdebug-ide:19 -e:1:in `load' -e:1 Uncaught exception: undefined method `namespace' for main:Object Process finished with exit code 1 Code snippet (It fails at the start of namespace. • Concat wchar_t Unicode strings in C?

    - by Doori Bar
    I'm a beginner, I play with FindFirstFileW() of the winapi - C. The unicoded path is: " \\?\c:\Français\", and I would like to concat "*" to this path of type wchar_t (then I will use it as an arg for FindFirstFileW()). I made two test cases of mine, the first is ansi_string() which seem to work fine, the second is unicode_string() - which I don't quite understand how should I concat the additional "*" char to the unicoded path. I write the strings to a file, because I'm not able to print Unicoded characters to stdout. Note: my goal is to learn, which means I'll appreciate guidance and references to the appropriate resources regards my scenario, I'm very much a beginner and this is my first attempt with Unicode. Thanks, Doori Bar #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <wchar.h> #include <string.h> #include <errno.h> void *error_malloc(int size); void ansi_string(char **str1, char **str2); void unicode_string(wchar_t **wstr1, wchar_t **wstr2); void unicode_string(wchar_t **wstr1, wchar_t **wstr2) { /* assign wstr1 with the path: \\?\c:\Français\ */ *wstr1 = error_malloc((wcslen(L"\\\\?\\c:\\Français\\")+1) *sizeof(**wstr1)); wcscpy(*wstr1,L"\\\\?\\c:\\Français\\"); /* concat wstr1+"*" , assign wstr2 with: \\?\c:\Français\* */ *wstr2 = error_malloc((wcslen(*wstr1) + 1 + 1) * sizeof(**wstr1)); /* swprintf(*wstr2,"%ls*",*wstr1); */ /* how should I concat wstr1+"*"? */ wcscpy(*wstr2,L"\\\\?\\c:\\Français\\"); } void ansi_string(char **str1, char **str2) { /* assign str1 with the path: c:\English\ */ *str1 = error_malloc(strlen("c:\\English\\") + 1); strcpy(*str1,"c:\\English\\"); /* concat str1+"*" , assign str2 with: c:\English\* */ *str2 = error_malloc(strlen(*str1) + 1 + 1); sprintf(*str2,"%s*",*str1); } void *error_malloc(int size) { void *ptr; int errornumber; if ((ptr = malloc(size)) == NULL) { errornumber = errno; fprintf(stderr,"Error: malloc(): %d; Error Message: %s;\n", errornumber,strerror(errornumber)); exit(1); } return ptr; } int main(void) { FILE *outfile; char *str1; char *str2; wchar_t *wstr1; wchar_t *wstr2; if ((outfile = fopen("out.bin","w")) == NULL) { printf("Error: fopen failed."); return 1; } ansi_string(&str1,&str2); fwrite(str2, sizeof(*str2), strlen(str2), outfile); printf("strlen: %d\n",strlen(str2)); printf("sizeof: %d\n",sizeof(*str2)); free(str1); free(str2); unicode_string(&wstr1,&wstr2); fwrite(wstr2, sizeof(*wstr2), wcslen(wstr2), outfile); printf("wcslen: %d\n",wcslen(wstr2)); printf("sizeof: %d\n",sizeof(*wstr2)); free(wstr1); free(wstr2); fclose(outfile); return 0; }

  • File Fix-it codegolf (GCJ 2010 1B-A)

    - by KirarinSnow
    Last year (2009), the Google Code Jam featured an interesting problem as the first problem in Round 1B: Decision Tree As the problem seemed tailored for Lisp-like languages, we spontaneously had an exciting codegolf here on SO, in which a few languages managed to solve the problem in fewer characters than any Lisp variety, using quite a number of different techniques. This year's Round 1B Problem A (File Fix-it) also seems tailored for a particular family of languages, Unix shell scripts. So continuing the "1B-A tradition" would be appropriate. :p But which language will end up with the shortest code? Let us codegolf and see! Problem description (adapted from official page): You are given T test cases. Each test case contains N lines that list the full path of all directories currently existing on your computer. For example: /home/awesome /home/awesome/wheeeeeee /home/awesome/wheeeeeee/codegolfrocks /home/thecakeisalie Next, you are given M lines that list the full path of directories you would like to create. They are in the same format as the previous examples. You can create a directory using the mkdir command, but you can only do so if the parent directory already exists. For example, to create the directories /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeah and /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeahyeah, you would need to use mkdir four times: mkdir /pyonpyon mkdir /pyonpyon/fumufumu mkdir /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeah mkdir /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeahyeah For each test case, return the number of times you have to call mkdir to create all the directories you would like to create. Input Input consists of a text file whose first line contains the integer T, the number of test cases. The rest of the file contains the test cases. Each test case begins with a line containing the integers N and M, separated by a space. The next N lines contain the path of each directory currently existing on your computer (not including the root directory /). This is a concatenation of one or more non-empty lowercase alphanumeric strings, each preceded by a single /. The following M lines contain the path of each directory you would like to create. Output For each case, print one line containing Case #X: Y, where X is the case number and Y is the solution. Limits 1 = T = 100. 0 = N = 100. 1 = M = 100. Each path contains at most 100 characters. Every path appears only once in the list of directories already on your computer, or in the list of desired directories. However, a path may appear on both lists, as in example case #3 below. If a directory is in the list of directories already on your computer, its parent directory will also be listed, with the exception of the root directory /. The input file is at most 100,000 bytes long. Example Larger sample test cases may be downloaded here. Input: 3 0 2 /home/sparkle/pyon /home/sparkle/cakes 1 3 /z /z/y /z/x /y/y 2 1 /moo /moo/wheeeee /moo Output: Case #1: 4 Case #2: 4 Case #3: 0 Code Golf Please post your shortest code in any language that solves this problem. Input and output may be handled via stdin and stdout or by other files of your choice. Please include a disclaimer if your code has the potential to modify or delete existing files when executed. Winner will be the shortest solution (by byte count) in a language with an implementation existing prior to the start of Round 1B 2010.

  • Why does this valid Tkinter code crash when mixed with a bit of PyWin32?

    - by Erlog
    So I'm making a very small program for personal use in tkinter, and I've run into a really strange wall. I'm mixing tkinter with the pywin32 bindings because I really hate everything to do with the syntax and naming conventions of pywin32, and it feels like tkinter gets more done with far less code. The strangeness is happening in the transition between the pywin32 clipboard watching and my program's reaction to it in tkinter. My window and all its controls are being handled in tkinter. The pywin32 bindings are doing clipboard watching and clipboard access when the clipboard changes. From what I've gathered about the way the clipboard watching pieces of pywin32 work, you can make it work with anything you want as long as you provide pywin32 with the hwnd value of your window. I'm doing that part, and it works when the program first starts. It just doesn't seem to work when the clipboard changes. When the program launches, it grabs the clipboard and puts it into the search box and edit box just fine. When the clipboard is modified, the event I want to fire off is firing off...except that event that totally worked before when the program launched is now causing a weird hang instead of doing what it's supposed to do. I can print the clipboard contents to stdout all I want if the clipboard changes, but not put that same data into a tkinter widget. It only hangs like that if it starts to interact with any of my tkinter widgets after being fired off by a clipboard change notification. It feels like there's some pywin32 etiquette I've missed in adapting the clipboard-watching sample code I was using over to my tkinter-using program. Tkinter apparently doesn't like to produce stack traces or error messages, and I can't really even begin to know what to look for trying to debug it with pdb. • 3-way quicksort, question

    - by peiska
    I am trying to understand the 3-way radix Quicksort, and i dont understand why the the CUTOFF variable there? and the insertion method? public class Quick3string { private static final int CUTOFF = 15; // cutoff to insertion sort // sort the array a[] of strings public static void sort(String[] a) { // StdRandom.shuffle(a); sort(a, 0, a.length-1, 0); assert isSorted(a); } // return the dth character of s, -1 if d = length of s private static int charAt(String s, int d) { assert d >= 0 && d <= s.length(); if (d == s.length()) return -1; return s.charAt(d); } // 3-way string quicksort a[lo..hi] starting at dth character private static void sort(String[] a, int lo, int hi, int d) { // cutoff to insertion sort for small subarrays if (hi <= lo + CUTOFF) { insertion(a, lo, hi, d); return; } int lt = lo, gt = hi; int v = charAt(a[lo], d); int i = lo + 1; while (i <= gt) { int t = charAt(a[i], d); if (t < v) exch(a, lt++, i++); else if (t > v) exch(a, i, gt--); else i++; } // a[lo..lt-1] < v = a[lt..gt] < a[gt+1..hi]. sort(a, lo, lt-1, d); if (v >= 0) sort(a, lt, gt, d+1); sort(a, gt+1, hi, d); } // sort from a[lo] to a[hi], starting at the dth character private static void insertion(String[] a, int lo, int hi, int d) { for (int i = lo; i <= hi; i++) for (int j = i; j > lo && less(a[j], a[j-1], d); j--) exch(a, j, j-1); } // exchange a[i] and a[j] private static void exch(String[] a, int i, int j) { String temp = a[i]; a[i] = a[j]; a[j] = temp; } // is v less than w, starting at character d private static boolean less(String v, String w, int d) { assert v.substring(0, d).equals(w.substring(0, d)); return v.substring(d).compareTo(w.substring(d)) < 0; } // is the array sorted private static boolean isSorted(String[] a) { for (int i = 1; i < a.length; i++) if (a[i].compareTo(a[i-1]) < 0) return false; return true; } public static void main(String[] args) { // read in the strings from standard input String[] a = StdIn.readAll().split("\\s+"); int N = a.length; // sort the strings sort(a); // print the results for (int i = 0; i < N; i++) StdOut.println(a[i]); } } from http://www.cs.princeton.edu/algs4/51radix/Quick3string.java.html

  • R: extracting "clean" UTF-8 text from a web page scraped with RCurl

    - by SlowLearner
    Using R, I am trying to scrape a web page save the text, which is in Japanese, to a file. Ultimately this needs to be scaled to tackle hundreds of pages on a daily basis. I already have a workable solution in Perl, but I am trying to migrate the script to R to reduce the cognitive load of switching between multiple languages. So far I am not succeeding. Related questions seem to be this one on saving csv files and this one on writing Hebrew to a HTML file. However, I haven't been successful in cobbling together a solution based on the answers there. The pages are from Yahoo! Japan Finance and my Perl code that looks like this. use strict; use HTML::Tree; use LWP::Simple; #use Encode; use utf8; binmode STDOUT, ":utf8"; my @arr_links = (); $arr_links[1] = "http://stocks.finance.yahoo.co.jp/stocks/detail/?code=7203"; $arr_links[2] = "http://stocks.finance.yahoo.co.jp/stocks/detail/?code=7201"; foreach my $link (@arr_links){ $link =~ s/"//gi; print("$link\n"); my $content = get($link); my $tree = HTML::Tree->new(); $tree->parse($content); my $bar = $tree->as_text; open OUTFILE, ">>:utf8", join("","c:/", substr($link, -4),"_perl.txt") || die; print OUTFILE $bar; } This Perl script produces a CSV file that looks like the screenshot below, with proper kanji and kana that can be mined and manipulated offline: My R code, such as it is, looks like the following. The R script is not an exact duplicate of the Perl solution just given, as it doesn't strip out the HTML and leave the text (this answer suggests an approach using R but it doesn't work for me in this case) and it doesn't have the loop and so on, but the intent is the same. require(RCurl) require(XML) links <- list() links[1] <- "http://stocks.finance.yahoo.co.jp/stocks/detail/?code=7203" links[2] <- "http://stocks.finance.yahoo.co.jp/stocks/detail/?code=7201" txt <- getURL(links, .encoding = "UTF-8") Encoding(txt) <- "bytes" write.table(txt, "c:/geturl_r.txt", quote = FALSE, row.names = FALSE, sep = "\t", fileEncoding = "UTF-8") This R script generates the output shown in the screenshot below. Basically rubbish. I assume that there is some combination of HTML, text and file encoding that will allow me to generate in R a similar result to that of the Perl solution but I cannot find it. The header of the HTML page I'm trying to scrape says the chartset is utf-8 and I have set the encoding in the getURL call and in the write.table function to utf-8, but this alone isn't enough. The question How can I scrape the above web page using R and save the text as CSV in "well-formed" Japanese text rather than something that looks like line noise? Edit: I have added a further screenshot to show what happens when I omit the Encoding step. I get what look like Unicode codes, but not the graphical representation of the characters. So it may be some kind of locale-related issue, but in the exact same locale the Perl script does provide useful output. So this is still puzzling.

  • @OneToMany association joining on the wrong field

    - by april26
    I have 2 tables, devices which contains a list of devices and dev_tags, which contains a list of asset tags for these devices. The tables join on dev_serial_num, which is the primary key of neither table. The devices are unique on their ip_address field and they have a primary key identified by dev_id. The devices "age out" after 2 weeks. Therefore, the same piece of hardware can show up more than once in devices. I mention that to explain why there is a OneToMany relationship between dev_tags and devices where it seems that this should be a OneToOne relationship. So I have my 2 entities @Entity @Table(name = "dev_tags") public class DevTags implements Serializable { private Integer tagId; private String devTagId; private String devSerialNum; private List<Devices> devices; @Id @GeneratedValue @Column(name = "tag_id") public Integer getTagId() { return tagId; } public void setTagId(Integer tagId) { this.tagId = tagId; } @Column(name="dev_tag_id") public String getDevTagId() { return devTagId; } public void setDevTagId(String devTagId) { this.devTagId = devTagId; } @Column(name="dev_serial_num") public String getDevSerialNum() { return devSerialNum; } public void setDevSerialNum(String devSerialNum) { this.devSerialNum = devSerialNum; } @OneToMany(mappedBy="devSerialNum") public List<Devices> getDevices() { return devices; } public void setDevices(List<Devices> devices) { this.devices = devices; } } and this one public class Devices implements java.io.Serializable { private Integer devId; private Integer officeId; private String devSerialNum; private String devPlatform; private String devName; private OfficeView officeView; private DevTags devTag; public Devices() { } @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = IDENTITY) @Column(name = "dev_id", unique = true, nullable = false) public Integer getDevId() { return this.devId; } public void setDevId(Integer devId) { this.devId = devId; } @Column(name = "office_id", nullable = false, insertable=false, updatable=false) public Integer getOfficeId() { return this.officeId; } public void setOfficeId(Integer officeId) { this.officeId = officeId; } @Column(name = "dev_serial_num", nullable = false, length = 64, insertable=false, updatable=false) @NotNull @Length(max = 64) public String getDevSerialNum() { return this.devSerialNum; } public void setDevSerialNum(String devSerialNum) { this.devSerialNum = devSerialNum; } @Column(name = "dev_platform", nullable = false, length = 64) @NotNull @Length(max = 64) public String getDevPlatform() { return this.devPlatform; } public void setDevPlatform(String devPlatform) { this.devPlatform = devPlatform; } @Column(name = "dev_name") public String getDevName() { return devName; } public void setDevName(String devName) { this.devName = devName; } @ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY) @JoinColumn(name = "office_id") public OfficeView getOfficeView() { return officeView; } public void setOfficeView(OfficeView officeView) { this.officeView = officeView; } @ManyToOne() @JoinColumn(name="dev_serial_num") public DevTags getDevTag() { return devTag; } public void setDevTag(DevTags devTag) { this.devTag = devTag; } } I messed around a lot with @JoinColumn(name=) and the mappedBy attribute of @OneToMany and I just cannot get this right. I finally got the darn thing to compile, but the query is still trying to join devices.dev_serial_num to dev_tags.tag_id, the @Id for this entity. Here is the transcript from the console: 13:12:16,970 INFO [STDOUT] Hibernate: select devices0_.office_id as office5_2_, devices0_.dev_id as dev1_2_, devices0_.dev_id as dev1_156_1_, devices0_.dev_name as dev2_156_1_, devices0_.dev_platform as dev3_156_1_, devices0_.dev_serial_num as dev4_156_1_, devices0_.office_id as office5_156_1_, devtags1_.tag_id as tag1_157_0_, devtags1_.comment as comment157_0_, devtags1_.dev_serial_num as dev3_157_0_, devtags1_.dev_tag_id as dev4_157_0_ from ond.devices devices0_ left outer join ond.dev_tags devtags1_ on devices0_.dev_serial_num=devtags1_.tag_id where devices0_.office_id=? 13:12:16,970 INFO [IntegerType] could not read column value from result set: dev4_156_1_; Invalid value for getInt() - 'FDO1129Y2U4' 13:12:16,970 WARN [JDBCExceptionReporter] SQL Error: 0, SQLState: S1009 13:12:16,970 ERROR [JDBCExceptionReporter] Invalid value for getInt() - 'FDO1129Y2U4' That value for getInt() 'FD01129Y2U4' is a serial number, definitely not an Int! What am I missing/misunderstanding here? Can I join 2 tables on any fields I want or does at least one have to be a primary key?
