I have application that encrypts images on SD card and after I do that MediaScanner goes wild in LogCat (writing out "not JPEG" exception... and there are time I have over 1000 pics in directory).     My team has been progressively adopting more and more lightweight methodologies, moving from Scrum to Lean/Kanban where there is less and less formal process. At some point we will be back to Cowboy Coding; indeed I fear we may already be on the border line. Where can the line be drawn between a very lightweight Lean and Agile process and anarchy? How will we know when we have crossed the line? And how can we prevent ourselves from crossing the line? The question might also be phrased as, 'what processes cannot be safely eliminated in Lean's drive to eliminate waste'?

I would like to run doxygen in some directories and not in others! The problem is that I don't want to reorganize all the directories!   • How to stop IE7 clearing floats because of width property

    I have a containing element with a number of floated elements in it. That containing element also has a percentage width value applied to it. In IE7, content following the element containing the floats is cleared because of the width value which gives it hasLayout (I think!). I don't want the containing element to haveLayout, but I do need it to have an explicit width. Is there a way of working around this problem in IE7, effectively forcing hasLayout=false.

Whenever User/I tap on the status bar of iPhone, WebView Bydefault scrolls to top. This should not be done. Is it possible to prevent inbuilt functionality ? I know one of the option is as follows. ((UIScrollView *)[[myWebView valueForKey:@"_internal"] valueForKey:@"scroller"]).scrollsToTop = NO; But is it valid to do ?

  • DataAnnotations in ASP.NET MVC 2 - Stop MVC from applying RequiredAttribute to Non-nullable DateTime

    Im trying to create a custom version of the RequiredAttribute to replace the built in one and I've got it working for properties that have strings values, but with properties that are DateTime or integer for example, the default RequiredAttribute seems to be applied automatically (IF the property is not nullable!) My problem is that i want to be able to specify a DateTime property as required using my custom required validator which gets the error message from a resources file (I don't want to have to tell the RequiredAttribute the type of the resource file and the key every time i apply it. That is why I'm making a custom one.) How can i prevent the framework from applying the required attribute to properties of type DateTime and int etc without changing them to nullable. Thanks

  • How to stop .Net HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() raising an exception

    Surely, surely, surely there is a way to configure the .Net HttpWebRequest object so that it does not raise an exception when HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() is called and any 300 or 400 status codes are returned? Jon Skeet does not think so, so I almost dare not even ask, but I find it hard to believe there is no way around this. 300 and 400 response codes are valid responses in certain circumstances. Why would we be always forced to incur the overhead of an exception? Perhaps there is some obscure configuration setting that evaded Jon Skeet? Perhaps there is a completely different type of request object that can be used that does not have this behavior? (and yes, I know you can just catch the exception and get the response from that, but I would like to find a way not to have to). Thanks for any help

  • Why does TabStop stop working??

    I have a project that uses a series of auto-generated user control instances. The user-control itself exists, but I populate a panel with a series of these user controls, one for each item in my collection. Each user control displays a ton of information, but only ONE text field is editable. All of the other fields have TabStop set to false, and are marked as ReadOnly. The tab order of each user control is set at the time it is created so that the tab-key goes from one field to the next (or ... it's supposed to). When I have TWO fields on my user control whose TabStop is set to true, everything works great. But if I only have ONE field whose TabStop is true, the tab key stops working, and I have to physically CLICK on the next user control for it to gain focus. What's up? Has anyone else seen this behavior? Am I doing something stupid as usual?

    I am trying to track mouse movements in the browser, and if a user stops their mouse for 0.5 seconds, to execute some code. I have put a breakpoint in the code below in firebug, and it breaks on the var mousestop = function(evt) line, but then jumps to the return statement. Am I missing something simple? Why isn't it executing the POST statement? I am tracking mouse clicks in a similar way, and it posts to the server just fine.   • JMS have javax.jms.InvalidDestinationException when client stop working

    I use JMS for sending requests from a client to a server. My client sends a request to the server. While the server is working with my request, my client stops (network problem) before the server finishes. When the server is finished, it'll return to the client, but the server can't see the client which sent the request to server, at which point, the server will return an exception in log file. The exception is : javax.jms.InvalidDestinationException: Cannot publish to a deleted Destination: temp-queue://ID:PC0092-49463-1344231871819-0:0:9 [^] My question is: what do I need to do in this case? Can I catch or disable this exception? And how can I do it? (Sorry, If my english is not good.)

  • Stop execution of python script when parent Bash shell script is killed

    I'm working on a Bash shell script that runs several Python scripts like so: cd ${SCRIPT_PATH} python -u ${SCRIPT_NAME} ${SCRIPT_ARGS} >> $JOBLOG 2>&1 At one point, I killed the shell script (using kill PID), but the Python script continued running, even after the script terminated. I thought these would die as soon as the main script died. What am I misunderstanding about Bash scripting, and what can I do to get the functionality I'm looking for? Thanks in advance!

  • UITableView in popover doesn't stop scrolling

    I have a UITableView being shown in a popover. One cell in my table view has a UITextField in it. When the text field is being edited (the keyboard is visible) and I rotate the device from portrait to landscape and then try to scroll the table view, it keeps going past its bounds, instead of stopping and "bouncing". Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • convincing C# compiler that execution will stop after a member returns

    I don't think this is currently possible or if it's even a good idea, but it's something I was thinking about just now. I use MSTest for unit testing my C# project. In one of my tests, I do the following: MyClass instance; try { instance = getValue(); } catch (MyException ex) { Assert.Fail("Caught MyException"); } instance.doStuff(); // Use of unassigned local variable 'instance' To make this code compile, I have to assign a value to instance either at its declaration or in the catch block. However, Assert.Fail will never, to the best of my knowledge, allow execution to proceed past it, hence instance will never be used without a value. Why is it then that I must assign a value to it? If I change the Assert.Fail to something like throw ex, the code compiles fine, I assume because it knows that exception will disallow execution to proceed to a point where instance would be used uninitialized. So is it a case of runtime versus compile-time knowledge about where execution will be allowed to proceed? Would it ever be reasonable for C# to have some way of saying that a member, in this case Assert.Fail, will never allow execution after it returns? Maybe that could be in the form of a method attribute. Would this be useful or an unnecessary complexity for the compiler?

    I had a similar question posted here a few hours ago, just now I got the answer that I should look into using AJAX to do this. Since I want to complete this part of the site today I can't afford to learn AJAX from the basics to do this now.. This shouldn't be something difficult and I thougt that I would be able to do this but I'm not skilled enough... I have a form, when you click submit, it posts to twitter.com/statuses/update.xml and I need to be able to do so without being redirected there. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to learn AJAX?   • How to stop HTML text in textarea to be interpreted as code

    I have a textarea that users can edit. After the edit I save the text in a PHP variable $bio. When I want to display it I do this: <?php $bio = nl2br($bio); echo $bio; ?> But if a user for example types an HTML command like "strong" in their text my site will actually output the text as bold. Which is nothing I want. How can I print/echo the $bio on the screen just as text and not as HTML code? Thanks in advance!

    I'm using the following code to append a hashtag to the end of a url. That way someone can copy that url and take them back to that page, with certain divs visable. $("a.live").click(function() { window.location.hash = 'live'; $("#live).slideDown(); }); In this example I have a div called 'live', that would slideDown when a link is clicked, and '#live' added to the url. Then I have code that checks the hash tags when the page is loaded to show the proper divs. My problem is, how do I prevent the browser from jumping to the 'live' div once it's called? I don't want the page to scroll down to the div, just want it opened and the hashtag appended so a person could copy it and come back to that page with that div showing. Any tips? Thank you!

  • How do I stop ValueConverters from firing when swapping the content of a ContentControl

    I thought what I was doing was right out of the Josh Smith MVVM handbook, but I seem to be having a lot of problems with value converters firing when no data in the view-model has changed. So, I have a ContentControl defined in XAML like this: <ContentControl Grid.Row="0" Content="{Binding CurrentViewModel}" /> The Window containing this ContentControl references a resource dictionary that looks something like this: <ResourceDictionary ...> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:SetupPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:SetupPanel /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:InstructionsPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:InstructionsPanel /> </DataTemplate> </ResourceDictionary> So, basically, the two data templates specify which view to show with which view-model. This switches the views as expected whenever the CurrentViewModel property on my window's view-model changes, but it also seems to cause value converters on the views to fire even when no data has changed. It's a particular problem with IMultiValueConverter classes, because the values in the value array get set to DependencyProperty.UnsetValue, which causes exceptions unless I specifically check for that. But I'm getting other weird side effects too. This has me wondering if I shouldn't just do everything manually, like this: Instantiate each view. Set the DataContext of each view to the appropriate view-model. Give the ContentControl a name and make it public. Handle the PropertyChanged event for the window. In the event handler, manually set the Content property of the ContentControl to the appropriate view, based the CurrentViewModel (using if statements). This seems to work, but it also seems very inelegant. I'm hoping there's a better way. Could you please advise me the best way to handle view switching so that value converters don't fire unnecessarily?

    I am having trouble getting VBA's Evaluate() function to only execute once; it seems to always run twice. For instance, consider the trivial example below. If we run the RunEval() subroutine, it will call the EvalTest() function twice. This can be seen by the two different random numbers that get printed in the immediate window. The behavior would be the same if we were calling another subroutine with Evaluate instead of a function. Can someone explain how I can get Evaluate to execute the target function once instead of twice? Thank you.   • Xml files stop being served by IIS6 after allowing .net to process the .xml extension

    I added a route into my site to allow for a sitemap and everything worked fine in IIS7 but once I deployed the route stopped working. Since the live server is running IIS6 I needed to put a new mapping in for .xml to be processed by .net and then it started to work. My issue though is on every other xml file on the site now. I keep getting a 404 error when trying to view xml files, but the sitemap.xml route works. Is this a routing issue or an IIS setup issue?   • getchar does not stop when using scanf

    I am have a difficulty understanding getchar().
