• Problem installing RVM...

  I have executed the commands as prescribed in the instructions at the rvm website but things don't seem to work.. Fetching the code from the git repository runs smoothly but when I try to use rvm notes Error: /usr/local/bin/rvm: line 73: /home/cody/.rvm/scripts/rvm: No such file or directory flashes in multiple lines and doesn't stop till I hit ctrl+C.. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 and currently I am running ruby 1.9.2.. Sorry, if I am missing out any necessary information. Thanks in advance.

• java.util.regex.* Recursive matching

  Hi Guys, I have been using the java.util.regex.* classes for Regular Expression in Java and all good so far. But today I have a different requirement. For example consider the pattern to be "aabb". Now if the input String is aa it will definitely not match, however there is still possibility that if I append bb it becomes aabb and it matches. However if I would have started with cc, no matter what I append it will never match. I have explored the Pattern and Matcher class but didn't find any way of achieving this. The input will come from user and system have to wait till pattern matches or it will never match irrespective of any input further. Any clue? Thanks.

• Java HotSpot 1.6 VM, Garbage Collection - Scary PermGen

  Hi, My app shows rising 'Old Generation'/'Tenured Generation' size, and when this reaches the max limit for 'Old Gen', then suddenly PermGen size increases. Here are my generation sizings: -Xmx1200m -Xms1200m -Xmn450m -XX:MaxPermSize=600m -XX:+UseParallelGC This is on 32 bit Fedora so can't have a bigger heap than this. The app is not doing any fancy classloading, though it is using Spring IOC and Hibernate, the Spring App-context.xml defines some 1000 Beans. This app starts with 175MB PermGen, which steadily increases to ~250MB in few hrs, stays that way till Tenured Generation reached ~780 MB, then permgen jumps to ~500MB while Old Gen drops to ~500MB. This forces me to restart the App on daily basis, and gives me real scare of looming OutOfMemory Error.. Any insights would be very helpful. Thanks Gala101

• Rails 3.1 assets not recognizing new images uploaded by rmagick until server restart

  I have my Rails 3.1.0 application running with passenger in production environment and I have a section where the application allows the user to change his profile picture so I upload the image using an ajax uploader and in my controller I upload the file and generate different sizes for the image with rmagick then I render the new image with an image_tag but the application won't show the image till I restart the server. What I get is No route matches [GET] "assets/path/to/image.png" If I restart the server It will show the image, but obviously I can't be restarting the server every once a user uploads a new image. How can I solve the keeping the assets working the right way?

• JQUERY-UI Draggables - Seralize is running before the Draggable is complete

  Hello, I'm using the JQUERY-UI draggable plugin. As a setting, when the Draggable is done, using the STOP setting I run a function to seralize a list of LIs to get their order in terms of their IDs. For example, if I have an UL, with a list of LIs with the following IDs: 1,2,3,4,5 If I then move 5, between 2&3, the seralize is returning: 1,2,5,3,4,5 Which makes me think that the JQUERY UI-Draggable STOP is running before the page is finished rendering, or the DOM isn't update? Any ideas on how I can fix this from happening. Is there something I can do in my Seralize funtion to say, wait till JQUERY animations are all done, or stop all that are going on to ensure the DOM is accurate? Thanks

  Hi,I want to run a windbg script that will accomplish the following: I want to track certain registers the moment an API is hit, without stopping due to timing issues. So , the moment the API is called, I want the script to open a logfile, echo the fact that the api is hit with the details of the parameters, and let it run till it hits the conditional brkpoint I've put at the API end, which simply closes the open logfile. Now , the problem is, I want to do this multiple times, w/o the previous logfile getting overwritten. Ideally, if there is some command which lets me specify that the name of the logfile (.logfile file) by the timestamp of that moment, my problem is solved. Can anyone help?

  I'm writing the code for a controller method and I need to use it to send an email. I'm trying to use heredoc syntax to fill in the email body, however, the closing tag doesn't seem to be recognized. $this->email = new Email(); $this->email->from = 'Automated Email'; $this->email->to = '[email protected]'; $this->email->subject = 'A new user has registered'; $this->email->body = <<<EOF Hello, a new user has registered. EOF; $this->email->send(); Everything from the opening <<< EOF down (till the end of the file) is displayed as if it was in quotes. Can anyone see why this is not working? Any advice appreciated. • MySQL - Mac - Error 2002 - Can't connect to local... through socket

  I had MySQL running fine on my Mac till earlier today when I installed homebrew and also updated my Path. When I try to run mysql from my ternimal window now, I get the following error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) I can't connect MySQLAdmin either. I can't even run Mysqld. The error I get when trying to run mysqld is that it can't create test file. I also tried to tlenet loalhost 3306 and wasn't able to connect. Any help would be appreciated as I am fairly new to Mac.

  I am currently playing with DotNetOpenAuth to make an ASP.NET (C#) website use OpenID instead of the normal login-password routine for user and session handling. Up till now, I have added the DotNetOpenAuth.dll into my project and tried a test login page with the following: <rp:OpenIdLogin ID="OpenIdLogin1" runat="server" /> When I run the page, I enter a valid myopenid url and the website redirects to the myopenid page, where I enter my password, and upon success, it returns back to my default.aspx, due to the following in my web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms defaultUrl="/Default.aspx" loginUrl="~/Login.aspx"/> </authentication> Now that the user is "logged in", how can handle my session? At the moment, I don't know how I can, for example, check if the session is still alive or how to terminate the session. My basic question is, how can I manage the session once the user is authenticated with OpenID ?

  Hi, We have a web based client-server product. The client is expected to be used in the upwards of 1M users (a famous company is going to use it). Our server is set up in the cloud. One of the major questions while designing is how to make the whole program future proof. Say: Cloud provider goes down, then move automatically to backup in another cloud Move to a different server altogether etc The options we thought till now are: DNS: Running a DNS name server on the cloud ourselves. Directory server - The directory server also lives on the cloud Have our server returning future movements and future URLs etc to the client - wherein the client is specifically designed to handle those scenarios Since this should be a usual problem, which is the best solution for the same? Since our company is a very small one, we are looking at the least technically and financially expensive solution (say option 3 etc)? Could someone provide some pointers for the same? K

• Combobox drops up in IE 8 and it works correctly in IE 6

  Hi, I have a simple select/combo box with 100 options in the middle of a HTML page. When I open it in IE 6 it appears fine dropping down with a few elements displayed and a vertical scroll bar. In IE 8, it opens upward. Looks like it drops down till it reaches edge of browser screen when it has few options and then opens upward for new options added with a vertical scroll bar. Is there a way the select box can be adjusted to appear in IE 8 similar to IE 6? Thanks Ravi

  I have to open a website say Facebook page, twitter page and You Tube page in order to share my post there. Now when I click to the item Facebook , it gets redirected to FB to share and same for Twitter and YouTube. I have to show them in my WebView and all this is done perfectly. What I want is to show the Progress Dialog after clicking on the Item till it gets redirected to the FB , Twitter or YouTube. • Any way to run DLL's at button click C#

  Hi Guys, I'm looking for ways to speed my program to the max and one way I thought of was to strip all DLL's being run at startup and run them when they need to be. As an example, I have a DLL containing info required for an update module, but I don't want to have that running in the program if I don't need it till I have an update. (I know I can create a separate program and link it to that but this is just an example.) Is there anyway to attach this on a button click? Sorry if I haven't made my question understandable. Thanks

• Image processing in a multhithreaded mode using Java

  Hi Folks, I am supposed to process images in a multithreaded mode using Java. I may having varying number of images where as my number of threads are fixed. I have to process all the images using the fixed set of threads. I am just stuck up on how to do it, I had a look ThreadExecutor and BlockingQueues etc...I am still not clear. What I am doing is, - Get the images and add them in a LinkedBlockingQueue which has runnable code of the image processor. - Create a threadpoolexecutor for which one of the arguements is the LinkedBlockingQueue earlier. - Iterate through a for loop till the queue size and do a threadpoolexecutor.execute(linkedblockingqueue.poll). - all i see is it processes only 100 images which is the minimum thread size passed in LinkedBlockingQueue size. I see I am seriously wrong in my understanding somewhere, how do I process all the images in sets of 100(threads) until they are all done? Any examples or psuedocodes would be highly helpful Thanks!   I need to create a console application that has a main() function and pop a modeless dialog, so the console can still work in parallel to the modeless dialog (do other work, like communicating with the modeless dialog). Whatever i tried, i could only pop a modal dialog. (where the console is in hold till the modal dialog close itself). When switching to modeless dialog using Create() and ShowWindow() the dialog is displayed without its controls and it freeze / block (you can see the hourglass cursor). 1) i tried to pop the modeless dialog from the main() function 2) i tried to pop the modeless dialog from the InitInstance() of a CWinApp derived class In all cases the modeless dialog freeze / block.   Hello, I have a number of custom objects of type X. X has a number of parameters and must be unique in the collection. (I created my own equals method based on the custom parameters to examine this) In each object of type x, I have a list of objects y. I want to add/remove/modify easily an object y. For example: To write the add method, it would be something like add(objTypeX, objTypeY) I would check or the collections already has a objTypeX. If so: i would add the objTypeY to the already existing objTypeX else: i would create objTypeX and add objTypeY to this object. To modify an objTypeY, it would be something like(objTypeX, objTypeY, newobjTypeY) I would get objTypeX out of the collections and modify objTypeY to newobjTypeY Which collections should I use? I tried with hashset but i can get a specific object out of the list, without run down the list till I find that object. I develop this in vb.net 3.5

• [Java] - Problem having my main thread sleeping

  I'm in a Java class and our assignment is to let us explore threads in Java. So far so good except for this one this one problem. And I believe that could be because of my lack of understanding how Java threads work at the moment. I have the main thread of execution which spawns new threads. In the main thread of execution in main() I am calling Thread.sleep(). When I do I get an Unhandled exception type InterruptedException. I am unsure of why I am getting this? I thought this was because I needed a reference to the main thread so I went ahead and made a reference to it via Thread.currentThread(). Is this not the way to have the thread sleep? What I need to do is have the main thread wait/sleep/delay till it does it required work again. Any help would be much appreciated.

  Hi All, I am trying to do a sample project on the Apple the push notification. I created an AppID, done some terminal commands, and finally got a Provisional Certificate for do the same. I got the certificate installed on my device and SDK. Till now every thing goes fine. But when i try to run the app on the device.... it doesnt.
