  • Worth it to use jQuery UI hosted by Google?

    Hi So I heard good reasons why to use the jquery hosted on google because of caching. But I am not sure about jQuery UI though. I am guessing that the jQuery UI file hosted on google has every single extension and plugin (such as Draggable, etc). So is that not kind of a waste if say your only using only jQuery UI tabs? to get all that other stuff with it. Also I see they have some of the templates up for the css files. I am guessing the caching would be the main advantage of using the hosted file.

    Ok i saw many post's on how to serialize the value of dragged items to get hash and they tell how to save them.     The OBIEE 11g UI is performance is slow in IE 8 and faster in Firefox.  For VPN or WAN users, it takes long time to display links on Dashboards via IE 8. Cause is IE 8 generates many HTTP 304 return calls and this caused the 11g UI slower when compared to the Mozilla FireFox browser. To resolve this issue, you can implement HTTP compression and caching. This is a best practice.Why use Web Server Compression / Caching for OBIEE? Bandwidth Savings: Enabling HTTP compression can have a dramatic improvement on the latency of responses. By compressing static files and dynamic application responses, it will significantly reduce the remote (high latency) user response time. Improves request/response latency: Caching makes it possible to suppress the payload of the HTTP reply using the 304 status code.  Minimizing round trips over the Web to re-validate cached items can make a huge difference in browser page load times. This screen shot depicts the flow and where the compression and decompression occurs: Solution: a. How to Enable HTTP Caching / Compression in Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) 11.1.1.x 1. To implement HTTP compression / caching, install and configure Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) 11.1.1.x for the bi_serverN Managed Servers (refer to "OBIEE Enterprise Deployment Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence" document for details). 2. On the OHS machine, open the file HTTP Server configuration file (httpd.conf) for editing.   • Customizing Spaces UI

    In most common scenarios we stumble up on use cases to customize the Web center spaces UI. Is the Spaces UI customizable? What is the extent to which we can customize? How do i customize it? These are some questions that developers/architects normally come across. Well to clear the air, OOTB spaces comes with some default "site templates" and it also gives a flexibility to create custom site templates suiting the organization needs. The site templates concept has been introduced in the latest PS1 release of webcenter and to customize/create the the new site template, we have to leverage the Extend Spaces Project available on OTN. You could download the the project from here. Also there is white paper available on what all can be customized/extended from spaces perspective listed here . There is a specific details outlined on how to create custom site template in the Customizing Site Template white paper. One of the things the white paper high lights is "While you can create new site templates and modify the sample site templates but you cannot modify either of the out-of-the-box site templates ie the default and maximized. So if my need is to either increase the size of header to fit in a bigger logo or introduce couple of extra links on the default/maximized lay out how do i achieve this? All you need to do is customize the OOTB shell (shell-config.xml). 1. Copy the shell config's available in the Source Files Directory of the extended spaces unzipped directory into the CustomSite Template Project ExtendWebCenterSpaces\CustomSiteTemplate\custom\oracle\webcenter\webcenterapp\metadata\shell 2. Modify the appropriate shell 3. Deploy the CustomSite Template as ADF Jar 4. ensure you have the profile dependency on the aboproject int he custom webcenter spaces project 5. Deploy the Spaces Extension on the Webcenter Spaces Instance. (Details in the first white paper). You should see the changes immediately. eg: In the default shell, i have changed the height from 30 to 60 to increase the header size height="60" This is what i get to see : If you have worked on the R1 release time frame, where you created a custom shell/chrome, how do we make them compatible and make it available in the Spaces PS1 instance? All you need to do is the following: 1. Copy the custom shell in to the shell directory of the custom site template project 2. Register the shell with WCSiteTemplates.xml available in the same project. Eg : Yo can add the below entry pagePath="/oracle/webcenter/webcenterapp/view/templates/MyShellTemplate.jspx" pageDefPath="/oracle/webcenter/webcenterapp/bindings/pageDefs/oracle_webcenter_webcenterapp_view_templates_WebCenterAppShellTemplatePageDef.xml" displayName="myShell" chromeLevel="myShell"/ Note : pagePath - Absolute path of the template JSPX file. This path must be unique. So you might have to do the following to get your custom chrome working absolutely fine with no problems at all: 1. Create a jspx page, say /custom/mysite/SiteTemplate.jspx 2. Include the the default jspx in the new site template like following SiteTemplate.jspx ------------------ 3. Add the newly created site template in the WCSiteTemplate.xml file like following - pagePath="/custom/mysite/SiteTemplate.jspx" pageDefPath="/oracle/webcenter/webcenterapp/bindings/pageDefs/oracle_webcenter_webcenterapp_view_templates_WebCenterAppShellTemplatePageDef.xml" displayName="myShell" chromeLevel="myShell"/

  • ASP.NET MVC: null reference exception using HtmlHelper.TextBox and custom model binder

    I have written a class which implements IModelBinder (see below). This class handles a form which has 3 inputs each representing parts of a date value (day, month, year). I have also written a corresponding HtmlHelper extension method to print out three fields on the form. When the day, month, year inputs are given values which can be parsed, but a seperate value fails validation, all is fine - the fields are repopulated and the page served to the user as expected. however when an invalid values are supplied and a DateTime cannot be parsed, i return an arbitrary DateTime so that the fields will be repopulated when returned to the user. I read up on similar problems people have had and they all seemed to be due to lack of calling SetModelValue(). I wasn't doing this, but even after adding the problem has not been resolved. public object BindModel(ControllerContext controllerContext, ModelBindingContext bindingContext) { string modelName = bindingContext.ModelName; string monthKey = modelName + ".Month"; string dayKey = modelName + ".Day"; string yearKey = modelName + ".Year"; //get values submitted on form string year = bindingContext.ValueProvider[yearKey].AttemptedValue; string month = bindingContext.ValueProvider[monthKey].AttemptedValue; string day = bindingContext.ValueProvider[dayKey].AttemptedValue; DateTime parsedDate; if (DateTime.TryParse(string.Format(DateFormat, year, month, day), out parsedDate)) return parsedDate; //could not parse date time report error, return current date bindingContext.ModelState.AddModelError(yearKey, ValidationErrorMessages.DateInvalid); //added this after reading similar problems, does not fix! bindingContext.ModelState.SetModelValue(modelName, bindingContext.ValueProvider[modelName]); return DateTime.Today; } the null reference exception is thrown when i attempt to create a textbox for the Year property of the date, but strangely not for Day or Month! Can anyone offer an explanation as to why this is? Thanks :-)

When I submit the form, the Search property don't get bound properly. Everything is empty.The action takes an argument of ProjectSearch type. Why the Search don't get bound as supposed ?

Args> bind_class_t<C, Res, Args...> bind_class(Res (C::*f)(Args...), C* c) { return bind_class<C, Res, Args...>(f, c); } class test { public: int add(int x, int y) { return x + y; } }; int main() { test t; // bind_class_t<test, int, int, int> b(&test::add, &t); bind_class_t<test, int, int, int> b = bind_class(&test::add, &t); std::cout << b(1, 2) << std::endl; return 0; } compiled it with gcc 4.3.3 and got a segmentation fault. After spending some time with gdb and this program it seems to me that the addresses of the function and the class are mixed up and a call of the data address of the class isn't allowed. Moreover if I use the commented line instead everything works fine. Can anyone else reproduce this behavior and/or explain me what's going wrong here?

    Hello everyone, I have a scenario in which I have multiple sources to bind to my model. For one, I have a view tied to a strongly-typed model, but this scenario also entails posting data to this view from a 3rd party site. Essentially, what I believe I am after in the custom model binding is to investigate the form values in the Request object within HTTPContext to see if I have a field such as "postedFirstName". If so, I want to bind that value instead of the textbox "FirstName" in my view. I've done a good bit of searching but have not find anything that exactly addresses such a scenario.   • JQuery UI: is it possible to know where an object has been dropped?

    Hi, what I want to do is to know where (not in terms of position (x, y), but a reference to the DOM element) an object was dropped. I have a grid made up with divs where you can drop various items and I need to know which div on the grid was the item dropped on (getting its id would be fine). The callback function function(event, ui) { //code here } has just that ui object who doesn't apparently contain any information about this, but only about the draggable item or its helper.

  • IE 10 Win UI Version Won&rsquo;t Support Flash*

    Rabid Gremlin has a blog post up entitled: Did Microsoft just kill Flash? IE 10 won’t run Flash unless your site is on a Microsoft whitelist! Apparently this is true…kind of. There are 2 versions of IE 10 that ship with WIndows 8. One is the Windows UI version (in this article, I’m going to reference this as IE10Metro) and one is the desktop version. These are entirely different apps, different codebases. IE10Metro will *not* serve up Flash content unless the website hosting the content has been whitelisted with Microsoft, as per this Microsoft document. IE10 for the desktop will serve Flash content without any issues. In a broader view, what this means is that web developers now need to consider another browser for testing their sites in – IE 10 Metro, in addition to IE 10 Desktop. D

However, both WinForms and WPF are generics-free. There is no ListBox<T> control, for example, which could only show items of the specified type. Such controls invariably operate on object instead. Why are generics and not popular with UI framework developers?
