  • Thumbnail Provider not working

    I'm trying to write a Windows Explorer thumbnail handler for our custom file type. I've got this working fine for the preview pane, but am having trouble getting it to work for the thumbnails. Windows doesn't even seem to be trying to call the DllGetClassObject entry point. Before I continue, note that I'm using Windows 7 and unmanaged C++. I've registered the following values in the registry: HKCR\CLSID\<my guid> HKCR\CLSID\<my guid>\InprocServer32 (default value being path to my DLL) HKCR\CLSID\<my guid>\InprocServer32\ThreadingModel (value = "Apartment") HKCR\.<my ext>\shellex\{E357FCCD-A995-4576-B01F-234630154E96} (value = my guid) I've also tried using the Win SDK sample, and that doesn't work. And also the sample project in this article (http://www.codemonkeycodes.com/2010/01/11/ithumbnailprovider-re-visited/), and that doesn't work. I'm new to shell programming, so not really sure the best way of debugging this. I've tried attaching the debugger to explorer.exe, but that doesn't seem to work (breakpoints get disabled, and none of my OutputDebugStrings get displayed in the output window). Note that I tried setting the "DesktopProcess" in the registry as described in the WinSDK docs for debugging the shell, but I'm still only seeing one explorer.exe in the task manager - so that "may" be why I can't debug it??   • "Invalid provider type specified" when signing clickonce manifest in VS2008

    I have a certificate issued by a CA on our intranet (it's a V3 sha1 pfx file). When I use this in the signing part of my clickonce (vsto addin) project, I get the error: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v9.0\OfficeTools\Microsoft.VisualStudio.Tools.Office.Office2007.targets(250,9): error MSB3482: An error occurred while signing: Invalid provider type specified. Does anyone know what's going on here? Thanks!

    I have the request to build a custom control for ASP.NET membership. The control is somewhat special. So I can’t inherit from a built-in control. Is there an elegant way to access the string resources of ASP.NET membership provider to use them in custom controls? Creating for example CreateUserWizard, extracting the resources and throwing away the control seems a little bit rustic to me.

    Hi all, simple question... Given I have an ASP.NET site, which uses a [custom] RoleProvider, Is there any way in which I can somehow "refresh" the provider without forcing the user to log out of the site and log back in? I'm looking for something that would be akin to a fictional method Roles.Refresh() Specifically, I am looking at this for if an administrator changes a user's roles, the user sessions could maybe refresh themselves every 10 minutes or something.

  • Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

    This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first.     Has anybody managed to get the ".NET Data Provider for SqlServer" to actually work within perfmon.exe. I have a .NET app that uses nhibernate to interact with sql server 2005 db. All I want to do is to view the NumberOfActiveConnectionPools, NumberOfActiveConnections and the NumberOfFreeConnections within perfmon.exe Can somebody explain to me how exactly I get this to work?     I am using s#arp which is built against NHibernate 2.1.1.4000, However I would like to use NHibernate.Caches.SysCache as my second level cache. However the Nhibernate contrib caches are built against NHibernate 2.1.2.4000 which obviously gives me a problem. Can anyone point me to a URL that I can download NHibernate.Caches.SysCache.dll that is built against NHibernate 2.1.1.4000 Or is there another 2nd level cache provider that is easy to implement and is built against NHibernate 2.1.1.4000 Thanks

  • Make SubSonic use existing <connectionstring> instead of new data provider

    I am adding SubSonic to a legacy application. This application already defines a ConnectionString. Is there a way I can use this connectionstring instead of creating a new Data Provider entry? I know that one solution is programmatically setting this in the code (i.e. SubSonic.DataService.GetInstance("Name").SetDefaultConnectionString("ConnString") ). However, is there a more elegant solution?
