    - by Amit Shah
    Hi All, I have a class say [Serializable] public class Answer { [DisplayName("ID")] public string ID { get; set; } [DisplayName("Value")] public string Value { get; set; } } and I have a datagridview with bounded columns to the above class. instances of this class Answer are created dynamically as and when required. How do I update datagridview when each and every instance of class is created. is it possible to do something of this sort. dataGridView.Rows.Add(classInstance); Thanks in Advance, Amit

  • New projects not built when target platform is set explicitly

    - by stiank81
    I create a new solution with one project, and then change the target platform from "Any CPU" to "x86". After this new projects added doesn't get built by default, and their target platform doesn't follow the global settings. Why?! Looking at the configuration manager new projects added are not checked to "Build", and they get target platform "Any CPU" instead of the globally set x86. Why is this happening? I expect new projects too to get the globally set and defined x86 target platform.. Some things I've tried: Toggle global platform back to Any CPU, and then to x86 again. No change.. Choosing platform explicitly for the new project. x86 is not available in the list, and when I say <New..> and try adding it I'm not allowed as ".. a solution platform with the same name already exists.". On the build properties for the new project I can't change the platform in the Configuration section, but I can set "Platform target" to x86 in the General section. It is however not clear whether this actually makes a difference, and it wouldn't respond if I change the target platform globally later. Initially I thought this was a problem from converting my solution from VS2008 to VS2010, but the problem applies both places. I.e. when I create a solution in VS2008 and just stay in VS2008 I still get the problem.

  • Using XSD file in VS2005

    - by xt_20
    Hello all I want to write an XML file. I have created an XSD file named XMLSchema.xsd, and run the command 'xsd /c XMLSchema.xsd' which generated a c# class file. Now, how do I use this file to generate XML files? Part of my code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns="http://tempuri.org/XMLSchema.xsd" > <xs:element name="root"> <xs:complexType> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="Audit"> <xs:complexType> ... which generates a c# class 'root'. How do I call 'root' from my C# web program? Thanks

  • why must you provide the keyword const in operator overloads

    - by numerical25
    Just curious on why a param has to be a const in operation overloading CVector& CVector::operator= (const CVector& param) { x=param.x; y=param.y; return *this; } couldn't you have easily done something like this ?? CVector& CVector::operator= (CVector& param) //no const { x=param.x; y=param.y; return *this; } Isn't when something becomes a const, it is unchangeable for the remainder of the applications life ?? How does this differ in operation overloading ???

  • what is a virtual adapter

    - by numerical25
    I hear the term virtual adapter from time to time. But not exactly sure what it is. I can't exactly find a good definition online. Is there an exact definition for a virtual adapter. If so, what is it. Or what does it usually mean ?

  • error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'g_App'

    - by numerical25
    I wish c++, was a little more specific on the messages they give. The following error is being thrown in the document below main.h #ifndef main_h #define main_h //includes #include <windows.h> #include <commctrl.h> #include <d3d9.h> #include <fstream> #include "capplication.h" //constants #define TITLE "D3D Tut 01: Create Window" #define WINDOW_X 350 #define WINDOW_Y 320 //Button ID's #define ID_START 1 #define ID_CANCEL 2 //globals extern CApplication g_App; //function prototypes LRESULT CALLBACK WindowProcedure(HWND,UINT,WPARAM,LPARAM); #endif The only header file that could possible throw this error is the capplication.h. given below capplication.h #ifndef capplication_h #define capplication_h #include"main.h" class CApplication { public: CApplication(void); ~CApplication(void); void InitWindow(void); void SaveSettings(void); void LoadSettings(void); void KillWindow(void); inline bool GetWindowStatus(void) { return m_bRunningWindow; } inline HWND GetWindowHandle(void) { return m_hWindow; } inline void SetWindowStatus(bool bRunningWindow) { m_bRunningWindow = bRunningWindow; } private: bool m_bRunningWindow; HWND m_hWindow, m_hBtnStart, m_hBtnCancel, m_hLblResolution, m_hCbResolution, m_hLblBackBuffer, m_hCbBackBuffer, m_hLblDepthStencil, m_hCbDepthStencil, m_hLblVertexProcessing, m_hCbVertexProcessing, m_hLblMultiSampling, m_hCbMultiSampling, m_hLblAnisotropy, m_hCbAnisotropy; DWORD m_dwWidth, m_dwHeight, m_dwVertexProcessing, m_dwAnisotropy; D3DFORMAT m_ColorFormat, m_DepthStencilFormat; D3DMULTISAMPLE_TYPE m_MultiSampling; }; #endif Besides that, the only suspicious thing I see is fstream given in the first code. I did have it as fstream.h But VC++ was not recognizing it so I was told to remove the h and I did. now I am down to this error. and I have no clue what it could be. Possibly something obvious

  • OpenMP implementations in VC++ 2008, 2010

    - by John
    Depending on implementation, OMP can be quite useful to parallelize fairly arbitrary bits of code - e.g a parallel section inside a method that calls two independent methods - or it can be bad. It depends on how threads are created/cached, I think. How does the VC++ 2008 implementation work? And is the 2010 implementation significantly different in terms of features and performance/flexibility?

  • Does Microsoft make available the .obj files for its CRT versions to enable whole program optimizati

    - by Leeks and Leaks
    Given the potential performance improvements from LTCG (link time code generation, or whole program optimization), which requires the availability of .obj files, does Microsoft make available the .obj files for the various flavors of its MSVCRT releases? One would think this would be a good place for some potential gain. Not sure what they have to lose since the IL that is generated in the .obj files is not documented and processor specific.

  • Porting VS2005 project to VS2008

    - by lucavb
    i need to port a VS2005 Project (.NET2) to a VS2008 (.NET3.5) (or to VS2010 .NET4 not yet defined). The project is composed by: resources and configuration files (VS project files, like: .settings .vbproj .myapp .config .xconfig .Designer.vb); a lot of VB codes; xsc, xsd, xss and xsx files; a lot of Crystal reports for VS2005; graphical resources. The application take data in order to generate reports from more DB SQL Server 2005 istances. What is the best way to approach to a migration activity? Is there an internal migration tool? If yes, what's the best practice to use it? Which kind of files will be automatically ported to the new VS version? Thanks in advance for all the provided information

  • refactoring my code. My headers (Header Guard Issues)

    - by numerical25
    I had a post similar to this awhile ago based on a error I was getting. I was able to fix it but since then I been having trouble doing things because headers keep blocking other headers from using code. Honestly, these headers are confusing me and if anyone has any resources that will address these types of issues, that will be helpful. What I essentially want to do is be able to have rModel.h be included inside RenderEngine.h. every time I add rModel.h to RenderEngine.h, rModel.h is no longer able to use RenderEngine.h. (rModel.h has a #include of RenderEngine.h as well). So in a nutshell, RenderEngine and rModel need to use each others functionalities. On top of all this confusion, the Main.cpp needs to use RenderEngine. stdafx.h #include "targetver.h" #define WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN // Exclude rarely-used stuff from Windows headers // Windows Header Files: #include <windows.h> // C RunTime Header Files #include <stdlib.h> #include <malloc.h> #include <memory.h> #include <tchar.h> #include "resource.h" main.cpp #include "stdafx.h" #include "RenderEngine.h" #include "rModel.h" // Global Variables: RenderEngine go; rModel *g_pModel; ...code........... rModel.h #ifndef _MODEL_H #define _MODEL_H #include "stdafx.h" #include <vector> #include <string> #include "rTri.h" #include "RenderEngine.h" ........Code RenderEngine.h #pragma once #include "stdafx.h" #include "d3d10.h" #include "d3dx10.h" #include "dinput.h" #include "rModel.h" .......Code......

  • T-4 Templates for ASP.NET Web Form Databound Control Friendly Logical Layers

    - by joycsharp
    I just released an open source project at codeplex, which includes a set of T-4 templates to enable you to build logical layers (i.e. DAL/BLL) with just few clicks! The logical layers implemented here are  based on Entity Framework 4.0, ASP.NET Web Form Data Bound control friendly and fully unit testable. In this open source project you will get Entity Framework 4.0 based T-4 templates for following types of logical layers: Data Access Layer: Entity Framework 4.0 provides excellent ORM data access layer. It also includes support for T-4 templates, as built-in code generation strategy in Visual Studio 2010, where we can customize default structure of data access layer based on Entity Framework. default structure of data access layer has been enhanced to get support for mock testing in Entity Framework 4.0 object model. Business Logic Layer: ASP.NET web form based data bound control friendly business logic layer, which will enable you few clicks to build data bound web applications on top of ASP.NET Web Form and Entity Framework 4.0 quickly with great support of mock testing. Download it to make your web development productive. Enjoy!

  • Branch view for a file that has been split into multiple files

    - by ScottJ
    I have a large source file in Perforce that has been split up into several smaller files in a branch. I want to create a branch view that can handle this, but perforce (2009.1) only sees the last of the multiple files. For example, I created: p4 integrate //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/huge_file.c Later I split the huge file into smaller ones: p4 integrate //depot/new/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_one.c p4 integrate //depot/new/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_two.c p4 integrate //depot/new/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_three.c Then edit each of those (including //depot/new/huge_file.c) and submit. Now I make changes to //depot/original/huge_file.c and I want to integrate those changes to //depot/new. If I do this manually, it works fine: p4 integrate //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/huge_file.c p4 integrate //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_one.c p4 integrate //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_two.c p4 integrate //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_three.c But I don't want to do that every time I integrate -- this kind of thing belongs in a branch view. Unfortunately if the branch view includes the same source file multiple times, the subsequent lines override the earlier ones. How can I create a branch view like this: //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/huge_file.c //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_one.c //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_two.c //depot/original/huge_file.c //depot/new/small_file_three.c When I integrate using this branch spec, I get only small_file_three.c integrated.

  • SCCM2012 R2 – How to integrate MDT with SCCM

Few years ago I was wondering why they are separate, I why I cannot share Task Sequences between them. And how it usually happens in live, when I was focused on other technologies, MDT and SCCM became best friends. Let's integrate MDT with SCCM: If first step you need to download MDT http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=25175 Install MDT on your SCCM server boxaccept the EULA Join CEIP if you like  Once you completed the installation I would recommend you to complete MDT configuring before integration with the SCCM. Start the Deployment Workbenchinstall updatesyou will need to download and install WAIKcreate new deployment shareleave default values Create MDT databaseMake sure you will create separate database, DO NOT use existing SCCM DB Now we are ready to integrate MDT with SCCMthe Integration tool should discover your server automaticallyAfter reopening SCCM console in task sequences you should have new cool features: How to use them? That's another story …

  • Can I use the newer versions of Visual Studio to do "old" things?

    - by Ptah- Opener of the Mouth
    I have several ATL/COM-based DLLs that I've been using Visual C++ 6.0 on. I require a couple of "old" things out of the generated DLLs: (1) They must be compatible with projects developed in Visual Basic 6.0 (the old VB6, emphatically not VB.Net). (2) They must be compatible with old operating systems - minimum Windows 98 SE. To be clear, I mean they must run on such OSes, not that I would have to be able to develop them on a machine running such an OS. I am sick of Visual Studio 6.0. Converting to Dot Net (or any other major change like that) is out of the question at the current time, so I must continue to use VB6. But can I switch to the newer Visual Studio's C++, with a minimum of effort (i.e. little if any required recoding)? If so, are there any "gotchas" I should watch out for? Thanks.

  • Building a project in VS that depends on a static and dynamic library

    - by fg nu
    Noob noobin'. I would appreciate some very careful handholding in setting up an example in Visual Studio 2010 Professional where I am trying to build a project which links: a previously built static library, for which the VS project folder is "C:\libjohnpaul\" a previously built dynamic library, for which the VS project folder is "C:\libgeorgeringo\" These are listed as Recipes 1.11, 1.12 and 1.13 in the C++ Cookbook. The project fails to compile for me with unresolved dependencies (see details below), and I can't figure out why. Project 1: Static Library The following are the header and source files that were compiled in this project. I was able to compile this project fine in VS2010, to the named standard library "libjohnpaul.lib" which lives in the folder ("C:/libjohnpaul/Release/"). // libjohnpaul/john.hpp #ifndef JOHN_HPP_INCLUDED #define JOHN_HPP_INCLUDED void john( ); // Prints "John, " #endif // JOHN_HPP_INCLUDED // libjohnpaul/john.cpp #include <iostream> #include "john.hpp" void john( ) { std::cout << "John, "; } // libjohnpaul/paul.hpp #ifndef PAUL_HPP_INCLUDED #define PAUL_HPP_INCLUDED void paul( ); // Prints " Paul, " #endif // PAUL_HPP_INCLUDED // libjohnpaul/paul.cpp #include <iostream> #include "paul.hpp" void paul( ) { std::cout << "Paul, "; } // libjohnpaul/johnpaul.hpp #ifndef JOHNPAUL_HPP_INCLUDED #define JOHNPAUL_HPP_INCLUDED void johnpaul( ); // Prints "John, Paul, " #endif // JOHNPAUL_HPP_INCLUDED // libjohnpaul/johnpaul.cpp #include "john.hpp" #include "paul.hpp" #include "johnpaul.hpp" void johnpaul( ) { john( ); paul( ); Project 2: Dynamic Library Here are the header and source files for the second project, which also compiled fine with VS2010, and the "libgeorgeringo.dll" file lives in the directory "C:\libgeorgeringo\Debug". // libgeorgeringo/george.hpp #ifndef GEORGE_HPP_INCLUDED #define GEORGE_HPP_INCLUDED void george( ); // Prints "George, " #endif // GEORGE_HPP_INCLUDED // libgeorgeringo/george.cpp #include <iostream> #include "george.hpp" void george( ) { std::cout << "George, "; } // libgeorgeringo/ringo.hpp #ifndef RINGO_HPP_INCLUDED #define RINGO_HPP_INCLUDED void ringo( ); // Prints "and Ringo\n" #endif // RINGO_HPP_INCLUDED // libgeorgeringo/ringo.cpp #include <iostream> #include "ringo.hpp" void ringo( ) { std::cout << "and Ringo\n"; } // libgeorgeringo/georgeringo.hpp #ifndef GEORGERINGO_HPP_INCLUDED #define GEORGERINGO_HPP_INCLUDED // define GEORGERINGO_DLL when building libgerogreringo.dll # if defined(_WIN32) && !defined(__GNUC__) # ifdef GEORGERINGO_DLL # define GEORGERINGO_DECL _ _declspec(dllexport) # else # define GEORGERINGO_DECL _ _declspec(dllimport) # endif # endif // WIN32 #ifndef GEORGERINGO_DECL # define GEORGERINGO_DECL #endif // Prints "George, and Ringo\n" #ifdef __MWERKS__ # pragma export on #endif GEORGERINGO_DECL void georgeringo( ); #ifdef __MWERKS__ # pragma export off #endif #endif // GEORGERINGO_HPP_INCLUDED // libgeorgeringo/ georgeringo.cpp #include "george.hpp" #include "ringo.hpp" #include "georgeringo.hpp" void georgeringo( ) { george( ); ringo( ); } Project 3: Executable that depends on the previous libraries Lastly, I try to link the aforecompiled static and dynamic libraries into one project called "helloBeatlesII" which has the project directory "C:\helloBeatlesII" (note that this directory does not nest the other project directories). The linking process that I did is described below: To the "helloBeatlesII" solution, I added the solutions "libjohnpaul" and "libgeorgeringo"; then I changed the properties of the "helloBeatlesII" project to additionally point to the include directories of the other two projects on which it depends ("C:\libgeorgeringo\libgeorgeringo" & "C:\libjohnpaul\libjohnpaul"); added "libgeorgeringo" and "libjohnpaul" to the project dependencies of the "helloBeatlesII" project and made sure that the "helloBeatlesII" project was built last. Trying to compile this project gives me the following unsuccessful build: 1------ Build started: Project: helloBeatlesII, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1Build started 10/13/2012 5:48:32 PM. 1InitializeBuildStatus: 1 Touching "Debug\helloBeatlesII.unsuccessfulbuild". 1ClCompile: 1 helloBeatles.cpp 1ManifestResourceCompile: 1 All outputs are up-to-date. 1helloBeatles.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl georgeringo(void)" (?georgeringo@@YAXXZ) referenced in function _main 1helloBeatles.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl johnpaul(void)" (?johnpaul@@YAXXZ) referenced in function _main 1E:\programming\cpp\vs-projects\cpp-cookbook\helloBeatlesII\Debug\helloBeatlesII.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals 1 1Build FAILED. 1 1Time Elapsed 00:00:01.34 ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 2 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== At this point I decided to call in the cavalry.
