• MVC : Does Code to save data in cache or session belongs in controller?

  I'm a bit confused if saving the information to session code below, belongs in the controller action as shown below or should it be part of my Model?   I am having a difficulty in deciding the database & its structure. Let us say the problem is like this. For my product I have various customers( each is an educational institute) Each customer have their own sub-clients ( Institution have students) Each student record will have some basic information like "name" & "Number" . There are also additional information that a customer(institution) might want to ask sub-client(student) like "email" or "semester" I have come up with two solutions : 1. Mysql _insititution__ id-|- Description| __Student__ id-|-instituition_id-|-Name-|-Number| __student_additional_details__ student_id -|- field_name -|- Value Student_additional_details will have multiple records for each student depending upon number of questions asked from institution. 2.MongoDb _insititution___ id-|- Description| _Student__ id-|-instituition_id-|-Name-|-Number|-otherfield1 -|- otherfield2 with mongo the structure itself can be dynamic so student table seems really good in mongo . But the problem comes when I have to relate student with institution . So which one is a better design ? Or some other idea ?

In the above video the guys at JumperOneTV show us how to make a desktop power supply. As an addendum to the video; they note in the comments section on the YouTube video that they were wearing gloves for the drilling and that they did a very thorough job cleaning out any loose metal shavings with an air compressor. • Share Your Top 30 Visited Domains with Visitation Cloud for Firefox

  Curious about the domains that you visit most or perhaps you want a way to share that information on a social website? Now you can see and share the 30 most visited domains in your browser’s history with the Visitation Cloud extension. Accessing Visitation Cloud As soon as you install the extension you can get started using it. Depending on how your browser’s UI is set up there are three methods for accessing Visitation Cloud: a “Visitation Cloud Button” inserted at the end of your “Bookmarks Toolbar”, a menu listing in the “Tools Menu”, and a “Toolbar Button” (not shown here). Visitation Cloud in Action As soon as you activate Visitation Cloud a new window will appear with your top domains displayed in a cloud format. Keep in mind that this is more than just a static image…each listing is actually a clickable link. Clicking on any of the listings will open that domain in a new tab or window depending on your particular browser settings. If you feel that you have a great set of links and want to share it with your friends then that is easy to do. Right click anywhere within the Visitation Cloud Window and select “Save as…”. The “cloud image” can be saved in “.png, .jpg, or Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg)” format. For our example we chose the “.svg format”. Perhaps you love the set of links but not the layout…right click and select “Randomize” to change how the cloud looks. Here is our cloud after being “Randomized”. Things definitely got moved around… Accessing the Visitation Cloud Image in other Browsers Once you have your “cloud image” saved you can share it with friends or save it for your own future use in other browsers. Here is our “cloud image” open in Opera Browser with link opening in progress. The same “cloud image” open in Google Chrome. Very nice… Conclusion While this may not be something that everyone will use Visitation Cloud does make for a rather unique, interesting, & fun way to access and share your most visited domains. • A Database and LDAP Ice Breaker Video

  I made another GoAnimate video - this time it's about using LDAP for database passwords. Since it's on the free site - I didn't want to violate any terms of agreement - so it doesn't mention Oracle explicitly. But if you wanted to actually do what the animation talks about with Oracle database - you need to configure the Oracle database to use Oracle Enterprise User Security. EUS requires OVD or OID and works with most popular LDAP servers including Active Directory and of course our newest Oracle Directory member - Directory Server Enterprise Edition (aka the former Sun directory). • dovecot can't compact mail folder /var/mail/username

  ubuntu 11.10 32bit. Setup a dovecot imap server. Using Thunderbird on a different ubuntu machine (64bit) to access imap server. Everything else is fine, except I can not compact the deleted email in inbox, which is stored at /var/mail/username. Checking mail.log and I see this error message: Apr 3 00:10:11 autumn dovecot: imap(username): Error: file_dotlock_create(/var/mail/username) failed: Permission denied (euid=1000(username) egid=1000(username) missing +w perm: /var/mail, euid is not dir owner) (set mail_privileged_group=mail) what is wrong with the permission? Here are the permissions for the relevant files: $ ls -ld /var/mail drwxrwsr-x 2 mail mail 4096 2012-04-02 23:36 /var/mail $ ls -l /var/mail/username -rw------- 1 username mail 417 2012-04-02 23:36 /var/mail/username Anyone knows what's going on here?

• simple method to install a mail server

  I am looking for a simple way to install a mail server on my Ubuntu server. I would like to be able to receive and send emails though a webmail (e.g. roundcube). I have a domain name. The web server already works without any problem. When I googled "simple method to install mail server on Ubuntu", I arrive on blogs with literally hundreds of steps to install a mail server: A Mailserver on Ubuntu 12.04: Postfix, Dovecot, MySQL Creating a Mail Server on Ubuntu Postfix But, for sure I will make a mistake, if I follow those tutorials, and it will be very very time consuming. Most of the steps look very easy to automate, though. I've try several install methods: sudo apt-get install dovecot-postfix sudo tasksel install mail-server But from there, I have no idea how to add email accounts, and test if it actually works. Do you know if there is an automated way to install a mail server?
