• Windows XP update not working

  I have a problem with XP updating. It hangs when I try to search for updates on the website. But the automatic updates still work. And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8. So looking at these logs, is there anything going wrong with the update process? • Pairing Sony bluetooth headphones with my laptop

  Hi there, I have the Sony DR-BT50 wireless headphones. I've been able to successfully pair them to my iPhone and play music through them, but no such luck with my PC. I can add it to the bluetooth devices, but when the "Driver Software Installation" screen comes up, I get a red X and "No driver found". Any ideas how to fix this? (I have a bluetooth keyboard & mouse paired successfully, so it's not a problem with my laptop's bluetooth.)

  Im trying to setup a minimal desktop with openbox window manager on Arch linux. I noticed these weird font rendering issues with Monaco font. Below font size 13, alternate font sizes are rendered in an aliased, ugly manner. The same Arch installation has no problem rendering Monaco font when running under xfce. some of the characters even look completely different. I tried tweaking my .fonts.conf, but no luck.

• Error when starting ArcGIS Server Object Manager (v10)

  I just finished installing ArcGIS Server 10 and completed the post-installation. The ArcGIS Server Object Manager service is installed, but when I try to start it, I get the following error: "Windows could not start the ArcGIS Server Object Manager service on the Local Computer. Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly." The agsadmin and agsusers groups exist, and my local account is a member of the agsadmin group. Any ideas on what I've done wrong? Thanks, Jon.

  I always see the configuring ms office with a an endless progress bar, 2 or more weeks after I installed ms office(2000, 2003, 2010 beta). I'm not exactly sure what it is called but it is trying to configure ms office.Or maybe repairing the installation.   I tried to install the just released update of windows 8.1, but after several reboot it said it couldn't install it with the error : windows 8.1 couldn't be installed with error 0xc1900101 0x20006 I don't have truecrypt or bitlocker, just a dual boot with MacOSx86 (hackintosh) and chimera bootloader, I am not sure if it has anything to do with the error. • Ubuntu/Windows suddenly freezes

  I've a strange problem with my ubuntu 10.04 installation. Whenever i boot into ubuntu the entire system freezes / hangs soon after (~ 2 mins in). This problem exists on my windows 7 installation too. However if i start World of Warcraft or Warcraft on windows it doesnt hang for the duration i'm playing the game. After i stop playing and exit the game my laptop hangs inside 2 mins. Here is when it gets weirder. If i disconnect the charger, the laptop doesn't hang. However when I start it in ubuntu recovery mode and drop to root shell and use the 'startx' command everything works perfectly. • Change EXT3 stride and stripe-width settings post-install on CentOS 5.3

  Is there a way to change the stride and stripe-width options on an ext3 file system under CentOS/RHEL 5.3? There's no way to specify it via anaconda during installation that I saw, and while I see the -E option to tune2fs available under Ubuntu, I don't see it in the manpage on CentOS. I did try to use the -E flag on CentOS and it rejects the flag as unknown if I try to use it. Anyone have any way to do this short of reinstallation?

• Windows service fails to start with custom user until started once with local user

  All of a sudden my Windows service application after installation does not start. (Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do.) The service uses a custom user. If I change the logon setting to use the local system account, the service starts fine. Then when I go back and change the login setting to use this custom account (local user - custom user under user group), the service will start. Why doesn't it work in the first place?
