• HLSL Shader not working right?

  Okay so I have this shader for ambient occlusion. It loads to world correctly, but it just shows all the models as being white. I do not know why. I am just running the shader while the model is rendering, is that correct? or do I need to make a render target or something? if so then how? I'm using C++. • Problem in udp socket programing in c

  I complile the following C code of UDP client after I run './udpclient localhost 9191' in terminal.I put "Enter Text= " as Hello, but it is showing error in sendto as below: Enter text: hello hello : error in sendto()guest-1SDRJ2@md-K42F:~/Desktop$ " Note: I open 1st the server port as below in other terminal ./server 9191. • When should I use a Process Model versus a Use Case?

  This Blog entry is a follow on to https://blogs.oracle.com/oum/entry/oum_is_business_process_and and addresses a question I sometimes get asked…..i.e. “when I am gathering requirements on a Project, should I use a Process Modeling approach, or should I use a Use Case approach?” Not surprisingly, the short answer is “it depends”! Let’s take a scenario where you are working on a Sales Force Automation project. We’ll call the process that is being implemented “Lead-to-Order”. I would typically think of this type of project as being “Process Centric”. In other words, the focus will be on orchestrating a series of human and system related tasks that ultimately deliver value to the business in a cost effective way. Put in even simpler terms……implement an automated pre-sales system. For this type of (Process Centric) project, requirements would typically be gathered through a series of Workshops where the focal point will be on creating, or confirming, the Future-State (To-Be) business process. If pre-defined “best-practice” business process models exist, then of course they could and should be used during the Workshops, but even in their absence, the focus of the Workshops will be to define the optimum series of Tasks, their connections, sequence, and dependencies that will ultimately reflect a business process that meets the needs of the business. Now let’s take another scenario. Assume you are working on a Content Management project that involves automating the creation and management of content for User Manuals, Web Sites, Social Media publications etc. Would you call this type of project “Process Centric”?.......well you could, but it might also fall into the category of complex configuration, plus some custom extensions to a standard software application (COTS). For this type of project it would certainly be worth considering using a Use Case approach in order to 1) understand the requirements, and 2) to capture the functional requirements of the custom extensions. At this point you might be asking “why couldn’t I use a Process Modeling approach for my Content Management project?” Well, of course you could, but you just need to think about which approach is the most effective. Start by analyzing the types of Tasks that will eventually be automated by the system, for example: Best Suited To? Task Name Process Model Use Case Notes Manage outbound calls Ö A series of linked human and system tasks for calling and following up with prospects Manage content revision Ö Updating the content on a website Update User Preferences Ö Updating a users display preferences Assign Lead Ö Reviewing a lead, then assigning it to a sales person Convert Lead to Quote Ö Updating the status of a lead, and then converting it to a sales order As you can see, it’s not an exact science, and either approach is viable for the Tasks listed above. However, where you have a series of interconnected Tasks or Activities, than when combined, deliver value to the business, then that would be a good indicator to lead with a Process Modeling approach. On the other hand, when the Tasks or Activities in question are more isolated and/or do not cross traditional departmental boundaries, then a Use Case approach might be worth considering. Now let’s take one final scenario….. As you captured the To-Be Process flows for the Sales Force automation project, you discover a “Gap” in terms of what the client requires, and what the standard COTS application can provide. Let’s assume that the only way forward is to develop a Custom Extension. This would now be a perfect opportunity to document the functional requirements (behind the Gap) using a Use Case approach. After all, we will be developing some new software, and one of the most effective ways to begin the Software Development Lifecycle is to follow a Use Case approach. Further, we had several interesting questions asked by our audience, and we thought we'd share a sampling of those here for you - just in case you had the same queries yourself. Enjoy! What is the largest Coherence deployment out there? We have seen deployments with over 500 JVMs in the Coherence cluster, and deployments with over 1000 JVMs using the Coherence jar file, in one system. On the management side there is an ecosystem of monitoring tools from Oracle and third parties with dashboards graphing values from Coherence's JMX instrumentation. For lifecycle management we have seen a lot of custom scripting over the years, but we've also integrated closely with WebLogic to leverage its management ecosystem for deploying Coherence-based applications and managing process life cycles. That integration introduces a new Java EE archive type, the Grid Archive or GAR, which embeds in an EAR and can be seen by a WAR in WebLogic. That integration also doesn't require any extra WebLogic licensing if Coherence is licensed. How is Coherence different from a NoSQL Database like MongoDB? Coherence can be considered a NoSQL technology. It pre-dates the NoSQL movement, having been first released in 2001 whereas the term "NoSQL" was coined in 2009. Coherence has a key-value data model primarily but can also be used for document data models. Coherence manages data in memory currently, though disk persistence is in a future release currently in beta testing. Where the data is managed yields a few differences from the most well-known NoSQL products: access latency is faster with Coherence, though well-known NoSQL databases can manage more data. Coherence also has features that well-known NoSQL database lack, such as grid computing, eventing, and data source integration. Finally Coherence has had 15 years of maturation and hardening from usage in mission-critical systems across a variety of industries, particularly financial services. Can I use Coherence for local caching? Yes, you get additional features beyond just a java.util.Map: you get expiration capabilities, size-limitation capabilities, eventing capabilites, etc. Are there APIs available for GoldenGate HotCache? It's mostly a black box. You configure it, and it just puts objects into your caches. However you can treat it as a glass box, and use Coherence event interceptors to enhance its behavior - and there are use cases for that. Are Coherence caches updated transactionally? Coherence provides several mechanisms for concurrency control. If a project insists on full-blown JTA / XA distributed transactions, Coherence caches can participate as resources. But nobody does that because it's a performance and scalability anti-pattern. At finer granularity, Coherence guarantees strict ordering of all operations (reads and writes) against a single cache key if the operations are done using Coherence's "EntryProcessor" feature. And Coherence has a unique feature called "partition-level transactions" which guarantees atomic writes of multiple cache entries (even in different caches) without requiring JTA / XA distributed transaction semantics.

• c# WinForms ReportViewer Performance issue using RefreshReport() and ServerReport.SetParameters()

  Hi All, Currently I am writing a c# client application that uses the WinForms ReportViewer Control to display reports from a remote server. I am having performance troubles with the ReportViewer Control, to be specific with the 2 methods reportViewer.ServerReport.SetParameters() and reportViewer.RefreshReport() – they both take a really long time to complete and not just on the very first call, but on each subsequent call as well. SetParameters() takes 20 to 40 seconds (they vary greatly in time, some execute event okay fast) and RefreshReport() is a bit faster but still takes ages. I don’t think the server is the culprit, as the same report viewed using the browser renders pretty fast, about a second tops. The report in question doesn't matter as well. When I break into the process and take a look at the call stack, I see a call to Socket.DoConnect. So I thought that’s a good reason to start using fiddler and I installed it, disabled caching and fired up the app again to see which call takes that long to connect, but the performance issue was gone. By using a proxy I am having the same performance as the webbrowser. FYI: I am using NTLM authentication in the following way: reportViewer.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials.NetworkCredentials = new NetworkCredentials() { Username = ... } I don’t have a strong webbackground, so I guess my question is: What should this tell me / What should I be looking into? (Btw: Adding fiddler to my installation package is not the solution I am looking for :)) I am grateful for any pointers. Take care, -Martin

  Hi, It seems that the default ASP.NET MVC2 Html helper generates duplicate HTML IDs when using code like this (EditorTemplates/UserType.ascx): <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<UserType>" %> <%: Html.RadioButton("", UserType.Primary, Model == UserType.Primary) %> <%: Html.RadioButton("", UserType.Standard, Model == UserType.Standard) %> <%: Html.RadioButton("", UserType.ReadOnly, Model == UserType.ReadOnly) %> The HTML it produces is: <input checked="checked" id="UserType" name="UserType" type="radio" value="Primary" /> <input id="UserType" name="UserType" type="radio" value="Standard" /> <input id="UserType" name="UserType" type="radio" value="ReadOnly" /> That clearly shows a problem. So I must be misusing the Helper or something. I can manually specify the id as html attribute but then I cannot guarantee it will be unique. So the question is how to make sure that the IDs generated by RadioButton helper are unique for each value and still preserve the conventions for generating those IDs (so nested models are respected? • Maven error: Unable to get resource / Server redirected too many times

  Our proxy went down and I tried to update dependencies with maven while it was off. Since then I can't download anything with maven. I get this error for everything. I tried -U option, deleting my local repository and tried different maven version (2.0.9, 2.2.1) but it doesn't work. Any idea how to solve this? Earlier it also said 'repository will be blacklisted' to all of them.   I get the following error message when I try to use svcutil to generate a client proxy for a xamlx file that is hosted by AppFabric beta 2: Two different contracts have the same ConfigurationName I understand the message, however, I cannot find its cause or how to fix it. I'm following the 'Introduction to Workflow Services' lab from the VS2010RC training kit. The web application has two services: SubmitApplication.xamlx and EducationScreening.xamlx. I'm not sure why but both of them have four endpoints. • Unable to debug WCF service in VS2008 after UserNamePasswordValidator fault

  Hi! I have a WCF service that I secure with a custom UserNamePasswordValidator and Message security running over wsHttpBinding. The release code works great. Unfortunately, when I try to run in debug mode after having previously used invalid credentials (the current credentials ARE valid!) VS2008 displays an annoying dialog box (more on this below). A simplified version of my Validate method from the validator might look like the following: public override void Validate(string userName, string password) { if (password != "ABC123") throw new FaultException("The password is invalid!"); } The client receives a MessageSecurityException with InnerException set to the FaultException I explictly threw. This is workable since my client can display the message text of the original FaultException I wanted the user to see. Unfortunately, in all subsequent service calls VS2008 displays an "Unable to automatically debug..." dialog. The only way I can stop this from happening is to exit VS2008, get back in and connect to my service using correct credentials. I should also add that this occurs even when I create a brand new proxy on each and every call. There's no chance MY channel is faulted when I make a call. Its likely, however, that VS2008 hangs on to the previously faulted channel and tries to use it for debugging purposes. Needless to say, this sucks! The entire reason I'm entering "bad" credentials is to test the "bad-credential" handling. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas as to how I can get around this bug (?!?) I'd be very very appreciative....

• Using IIS Application Request Routing (ARR) for ASP.NET MVC

  I use a simple ASP.NET MVC web (the template you use when you create a new site) and the web works as expected in my live environment. I now try to use IIS Application Request Routing version 2. I have a rule that send all reuqests to a different server that match a rule. The settings are a bit like this: http://blogs.iis.net/wonyoo/archive/2008/07/09/application-request-routing-arr-as-a-reverse-proxy.aspx My rule is just a bit different it is /shop(.*). Only requests that contain shop are send to a different server. I have to use rewrite, not redirect (The same as in the Picture) This works as long as the web the original requests go to is no ASP.NET MVC web. I tried to use a plain htm file in the webfolder and it worked. If put a compiled ASP.NET application into the webfolder it worked. But as soon as I put an ASP.NET MVC web into the folder, request arr served by this application. My understanding is that the ARR should kick in before the web application gets the chance to handle the request. Did anybody use ARR sucessfully as a reverse proxy for a ASP.NET MVC web? • MVVM Light Toolkit - RelayCommands, DelegateCommands, and ObservableObjects

  I just started experimenting with Laurent Bugnion's MVVM Light Toolkit. I think I'm going to really like it, but I have a couple questions. Before I get to them, I need to explain where I'm coming from. I currently use a combination of Josh Smith's MVVM Foundation and another project on Codeplex called MVVM Toolkit. I use ObservableObject and Messenger from MVVM Foundation and DelegateCommand and CommandReference from MVVM Toolkit. The only real overlap between MVVM Foundation and MVVM Tookit is that they both have an implementation for ICommand: MVVM Foundation has a RelayCommand and MVVM Tookit has a DelegateCommand. Of these two, DelegateCommand appears to be more sophisticated. It employs a CommandManagerHelper that uses weak references to avoid memory leaks. With that said, a couple questions: Why does MVVM Light Toolkit use RelayCommand rather than DelegateCommand? Is the use of weak references in an ICommand unnecessary or not recommended for some reason? Why is there no ObservableObject in MVVM Light? ObservableObject is basically just the part of ViewModelBase that implements INotifyPropertyChanged, but it's very convenient to have as a separate class because view-models are not the only objects that need to implement INotifyPropertyChanged. For example, let's say you have DataGrid that binds to a list of Person objects. If any of the properties in Person can change while the user is viewing the DataGrid, Person would need to implement INotifyPropertyChanged. (I realize that if Person is auto-generated using something like LinqToSql, it will probably already implement INotifyPropertyChanged, but there are cases where I need to make a view-specific version of entity model objects, say, because I need to include a command to support a button column in a DataGrid.)   Hi Everyone, I've been battling and trying to research this issue for over 2 days now with absolutely no luck. I am trying to retrieve a list of clients from the server (server using fluentNHibernate). Anyway, after adding the UseNetSerializer that error went away, yet now I'm just not getting anything. If I add a .Not.LazyLoad to the List mapping items, I'm back at not receiving errors, but also not receiving any client information.. Sigh! • TreeGrid in GXT

  Problem I'm trying to create an asynchronously updating TreeGrid in GXT but encountering issues. The first issue is that I believe the documentation is 'piss poor', at best.. therefore any chance of learning without using 'word of mouth' seems ridiculous. Instead of moaning any further, I shall inform you what I'd LIKE to do and then hopefully you can tell me if what i want is possible. Example knowledge of Football is recommended here I have a few Async services where: getLeagues() getTeams(League) getPlayers(League,Team) getPosition(League,Team,Player) I'd like to have a grid where once it renders, it makes a call to 'getLeagues', where by the server will respond with a bunch of leagues that are currently active on the server... these will be the 'root node' of the TreeGrid. Then, from here you can expand each league to show the teams, right down to the players and then their positions. I'd like to Create a TreeGrid which has a 'listener' on each node, waiting to asynchronously call the server on request and propogate the tree from here, however I'm not sure if this is possible. Can anybody advise? I'm finding all these Models, BaseTreeModels, TreeStores nauseating.

• Jquery.get() not returning any data

  Hi I am trying to scrape other people web pages (for the forces of good not evil). I am currently trying to do this with javascript/jquery from with in a browser. I am finding that the no data is returned from the jquery.get() success call back function. My code. $.get('http://www.google.co.uk/', function (data, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest){ alert("status " + textStatus); alert('data:' + data); window.data=data; window.textStatus=textStatus; window.httpReq = XMLHttpRequest}); In my mind this should simply do a get on google store the data in window.data and we are all good. What happens is we get textStatus == success and data == "". the status on the XMLHttpRequest is 4(success). I have looked at the network traffic using a transparent proxy (Charles) and everything looks find there http status 200 plenty of data being returned. I am running this just from the Firebug console in Firefox. Any ideas?

• Ext.data.Store, Javascript Arrays and Ext.grid.ColumnModel

  I am using Ext.data.Store to call a PHP script which returns a JSON response with some metadata about fields that will be used in a query (unique name, table, field, and user-friendly title). I then loop through each of the Ext.data.Record objects, placing the data I need into an array (this_column), push that array onto the end of another array (columns), and eventually pass this to an Ext.grid.ColumnModel object. The problem I am having is - no matter which query I am testing against (I have a number of them, varying in size and complexity), the columns array always works as expected up to columns[15]. At columns[16], all indexes from that point and previous are filled with the value of columns[15]. This behavior continues until the loop reaches the end of the Ext.data.Store object, when the entire arrays consists of the same value. • Rails ActiveRecord - Best way to perform an include?

  I have three models: class Book < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :collections has_many :users, :through => :collections end class User < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :collections has_many :books, :through => :collections end class Collection < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :book belongs_to :user end I'm trying to display a list of the books and have a link to either add or remove from the user's collection. I can't quite figure out the best syntax to do this. For example, if I do the following: Controller class BooksController < ApplicationController def index @books = Book.all end end View ... <% if book.users.include?(current_user) %> ... or obviously the inverse... ... <% if current_user.books.include?(book) %> ... Then queries are sent for each book to check on that include? which is wasteful. I was thinking of adding the users or collections to the :include on the Book.all, but I'm not sure this is the best way. Effectively all I need is the book object and just a boolean column of whether or not the current user has the book in their collection, but I'm not sure how to forumlate the query in order to do that.   I would like to inject a Mockito mock object into a Spring (3+) bean for the purposes of unit testing with JUnit. My bean dependencies are currently injected by using the @Autowired annotation on private member fields. I have considered using ReflectionTestUtils.setField but the bean instance that I wish to inject is actually a proxy and hence does not declare the private member fields of the target class. I do not wish to create a public setter to the dependency as I will then be modifying my interface purely for the purposes of testing. I have followed some advice given by the Spring community but the mock does not get created and the auto-wiring fails: <bean id="dao" class="org.mockito.Mockito" factory-method="mock"> <constructor-arg value="com.package.Dao" /> </bean> The error I currently encounter is as follows: ... Caused by: org...NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No matching bean of type [com.package.Dao] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency.   We are in the process of migrating our ASP.NET MVC 1.0 web app to MVC 2.0 but we have run into a small snag. In our report creation wizard, it is possible leave the Title text box empty and have it be populated with a generic title (in the post action).
