  • Pass variable by Post method from JQuery UI Autocomplete to PHP page

    - by Shahriar N Khondokar
    I have two JQuery UI autocomplete input fields. When an option is selected in the first one, the value of the selection will be used as condition for a database query that will send the source data for the second autocomplete field. My problem is how do I send the value of the first selection to the PHP page via Post method? The code so far is shown below (this code is from a tutorial which used the GET method; but I want to use Post): <script> $("input#divisions").autocomplete ({ //this is the first input source : [ { value: "81", label: "City1" }, { value: "82", label: "City2" }, { value: "83", label: "City3" } ], minLength : 0, select: function(event, ui) { $('#divisions').val(ui.item.label); return false; }, focus: function(event, ui){ $('#divisions').val(ui.item.label); return false; }, change: function(event, ui){ //the tutorial has this value sent by variables in the URL; I want the selection value sent by POST. How can I change this? c_t_v_choices = "c_t_v_choices.php?filter=" + ui.item.value; $("#c_t_v").autocomplete("option", "source", c_t_v_choices); } }).focus (function (event) { $(this).autocomplete ("search", ""); }); $("#c_t_v").autocomplete({ source: "", minLength: 2, select: function(event,ui){ //$('#city').val(ui.item.city); } }); </script> Can anyone please help? Dont hesitate to let me know if you have any questions.

  • Which way is preferred when doing asynchronous WCF calls?

    - by Mikael Svenson
    When invoking a WCF service asynchronous there seems to be two ways it can be done. 1. public void One() { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); client.BegindoSearch("input", ResultOne, null); } private void ResultOne(IAsyncResult ar) { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); string data = client.EnddoSearch(ar); } 2. public void Two() { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); client.doSearchCompleted += TwoCompleted; client.doSearchAsync("input"); } void TwoCompleted(object sender, doSearchCompletedEventArgs e) { string data = e.Result; } And with the new Task<T> class we have an easy third way by wrapping the synchronous operation in a task. 3. public void Three() { WcfClient client = new WcfClient(); var task = Task<string>.Factory.StartNew(() => client.doSearch("input")); string data = task.Result; } They all give you the ability to execute other code while you wait for the result, but I think Task<T> gives better control on what you execute before or after the result is retrieved. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using one over the other? Or scenarios where one way of doing it is more preferable?

  • DRY jQuery for RESTful PUT/DELETE links

    - by Aupajo
    I'm putting together PUT/DELETE links, a la Rails, which when clicked create a POST form with an hidden input labelled _method that sends the intended request type. I want to make it DRYer, but my jQuery knowledge isn't up to it. HTML: <a href="/articles/1" class="delete">Destroy Article 1</a> <a href="/articles/1/publish" class="put">Publish Article 1</a> jQuery: $(document).ready(function() { $('.delete').click(function() { if(confirm('Are you sure?')) { var f = document.createElement('form'); $(this).after($(f).attr({ method: 'post', action: $(this).attr('href') }).append('<input type="hidden" name="_method" value="DELETE" />')); $(f).submit(); } return false; }); $('.put').click(function() { var f = document.createElement('form'); $(this).after($(f).attr({ method: 'post', action: $(this).attr('href') }).append('<input type="hidden" name="_method" value="PUT" />')); $(f).submit(); return false; }); });

  • Unable to parse variable length string separated by delimiter

    - by Technext
    Hi, I have a problem with parsing a string, which consists only of directory path. For ex. My input string is Abc\Program Files\sample\ My output should be Abc//Program Files//sample The script should work for input path of any length i.e., it can contain any no. of subdirectories. (For ex., abc\temp\sample\folder\joe) I have looked for help in many links but to no avail. Looks like FOR command extracts only one whole line or a string (when we use ‘token’ keyword in FOR syntax) but my problem is that I am not aware of the input path length and hence, the no. of tokens. My idea was to use \ as a delimiter and then extract each word before and after it (), and put the words to an output file along with // till we reach the end of the string. I tried implementing the following but it did not work: @echo off FOR /F "delims=\" %%x in (orig.txt) do ( IF NOT %%x == "" echo.%%x//output.txt ) The file orig.txt contains only one line i.e, Abc\Program Files\sample\ The output that I get contains only: Abc// The above output contains blank spaces as well after ‘Abc//’ My desired output should be: Abc//program Files//sample// Can anyone please help me with this? Regards, Technext

  • Collect all fields in form to an array

    - by Industrial
    Hi everyone, Each div with the class "row" is added upon request from the user, to be able to add multiple items at once. So now is the question how I'll collect all the forms in to an array that PHP can read (like JSON for instance). I'll guess that there's already some easy and effective way of doing this? <div class="container"> <div class="row"> <input type="text" name="value1" id="textfield" /> <input type="text" name="value2" id="textfield" /> <input type="text" name="value3" id="textfield" /> </div> </div> Here's what I would like to achieve out of the shown example: array( array ('value1' => '', 'value2' => '', 'value3' => '') ); Thanks! Update: The form will be handled with PHP and it would be super to be able to do something like a foreach loop on the specific container-div content.

  • Preg_replace regex, newlines, connection resets

    - by bob_the_destroyer
    I have mixed html, custom code, and regular text I need to examine and change frequently on several, long wiki pages. I'm working with a proprietary wiki-like application and have no control over how the application functions or validates user input. The layout of pages that users add must follow a very specific standard layout and always include very specific text in only certain places - a standard which frequently changes. If users add pages that are so far out of the standard, they will be deleted. The fact that all this is obviously a complete waste of time when alternative platforms to do exactly what's needed here exist is already understood. I've built a PHP based API to automate this post-validation and frequent restandardization process for me. I've been able set up regex patterns to handle all this mixed text, and they all work fine for handling single lines. The problem I have is this: Poorly formed regex against long text with line breaks can lead to unexpected results, such as connection resets. I have no access to server-side logs to troubleshoot. How do I overcome this? This is just one example of what I currently have: {column} and {section} tags I'm searching for below can have any number of attributes, and wrap any text. {section} may or may not exist and may or may not be one or more lines under {column}, but it has to be wrapped inside {column}. {column} itself may or may not exist, and if it doesn't, I don't care. I want to grab the inner section contents and wrap it in an html div tag. I can't recall the exact pattern I'm using offhand at the moment, but it's close enough... $pattern = "/\{column:id=summary([|]?([a-zA-Z0-9-_ ]+[:][a-zA-Z0-9-_ ]+[ ]?))\}(.*)({section([|]([a-zA-Z0-9-_ ]+[:][a-zA-Z0-9-_ ]+[ ]?))\}(.*)\{section\}(.*))?{column\}/s"; $replacement = "{html}<div id='summary'$7</div{html}"; $text = preg_replace($pattern, $replacement, $subject); Handling the {column} and {section} attributes and passing only valid HTML parameters to the new html div or a subtext of it is itself a challenge, but my main focus above right now is getting that (.*) value within {section} above without causing a connection reset. Any pointers?

  • Read in double type from txt file - C++

    - by Greenhouse Gases
    Hi there I'm in the midst of a university project and have decided to implement a method that can accept information from a text file (in this instance called "locations.txt"). input from the text file will look like this: London 345 456 Madrid 234 345 Beinjing 345 456 Frankfurt 456 567 The function looks like this currently (and you will notice I am missing the While condition to finish adding input when reaches end of text in locations.txt, i tried using eof but this didnt work?!). Also get function expects a char and so cant accept input thats a double which is what the latitude and longitude are defined as... void populateList(){ ifstream inputFile; inputFile.open ("locations.txt"); temp = new locationNode; // declare the space for a pointer item and assign a temporary pointer to it while(HASNT REACHED END OF TEXT FILE!!) { inputFile.getline(temp-nodeCityName, MAX_LENGTH); // inputFile.get(temp-nodeLati, MAX_LENGTH); // inputFile.get(temp-nodeLongi, MAX_LENGTH); temp-Next = NULL; //set to NULL as when one is added it is currently the last in the list and so can not point to the next if(start_ptr == NULL){ // if list is currently empty, start_ptr will point to this node start_ptr = temp; } else { temp2 = start_ptr; // We know this is not NULL - list not empty! while (temp2-Next != NULL) { temp2 = temp2-Next; // Move to next link in chain until reach end of list } temp2->Next = temp; } } inputFile.close(); } Any help you can provide would be most useful. If I need to provide anymore detail I will do, I'm in a bustling canteen atm and concentrating is hard!!

  • undefined offset error in php

    - by user225269
    I don't know why but the code below is working when I have a different query: $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM student WHERE IDNO='".$_GET['id']."'") ?> <?php while ( $row = mysql_fetch_array($result) ) { ?> <?php list($year,$month,$day)=explode("-", $row['BIRTHDAY']); ?> <tr> <td width="30" height="35"><font size="2">Month:</td> <td width="30"><input name="mm" type="text" id="mm" onkeypress="return handleEnter(this, event)" value="<?php echo $month;?>"> <td width="30" height="35"><font size="2">Day:</td> <td width="30"><input name="dd" type="text" id="dd" maxlength="25" onkeypress="return handleEnter(this, event)" value="<?php echo $day;?>"> <td width="30" height="35"><font size="2">Year:</td> <td width="30"><input name="yyyy" type="text" id="yyyy" maxlength="25" onkeypress="return handleEnter(this, event)" value="<?php echo $year;?>"> And it works when this is my query: $idnum = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['idnum']); mysql_select_db("school", $con); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM student WHERE IDNO='$idnum'"); Please help, why do I get the undefined offset error when I use this query: $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM student WHERE IDNO='".$_GET['id']."'") I assume that the query is the problem because its the only thing that's different between the two.

I need from all those textboxes it's ID and value as an object. This is my java code: $(document).ready(function () { $('#submitTest').click(function (e) { var $form = $('form'); var trans = new Array(); var parameters = { TransIDs: $("#TransID").val(), ItemIDs: $("#ItemID").val(), TypeIDs: $("#TypeID").val(), }; trans.push(parameters); if ($form.valid()) { $.ajax( { url: $form.attr('action'), type: $form.attr('method'), data: JSON.stringify(parameters), dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function (result) { $('#result').text(result.redirectTo) if (result.Success == true) { return fase; } else { $('#Error').html(result.Html); } }, error: function (request) { alert(request.statusText) } }); } e.preventDefault(); return false; }); }); This is my view code: <table> <tr> <th>trans</th> <th>Item</th> <th>Type</th> </tr> @foreach (var t in Model.Types.ToList()) { { <tr> <td> <input type="hidden" value="@t.TransID" id="TransID" /> <input type="hidden" value="@t.ItemID" id="ItemID" /> <input type="hidden" value="@t.TypeID" id="TypeID" /> </td> </tr> } } </table> This is the controller im trying to receive the data to: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Update(CustomTypeModel ctm) { return RedirectToAction("Index"); } What am i doing wrong?

  • Forms blank when rendering a partial when using a collection of objects. Help!

    - by dustmoo
    Alright, I know my title is a little obscure but it best describes the problem I am having. Essentially, I have a list of users, and want to be able to edit their information in-line using AJAX. Since the users are showing up in rows, I am using a partial to render the data and the forms (which will be hidden initially by the ajax), however, when the rows are rendered currently only the last item has it's form's fields populated. I suspect this has something to do with the fact that all the form fields have the same id's and it is confusing the DOM. But I don't know how to make sure the id's are unique. Here is a small example: In my view: <%= render :partial => 'shared/user', :collection => @users %> My partial (broke down to just the form) note that I am using the local variable "user" <% form_for user, :html => {:multipart => true} do |f| -%> <%= f.label :name, "Name*" %> <%= f.text_field :title, :class => "input" %> <%= f.label :Address, "Address" %> <%= f.text_field :address, :class => "input" %> <%= f.label :description, "Description*" %> <%= f.text_area :description, :class => "input" %> <% end -%> When the html is rendered each form has a unique id (for the id of the user) but the elements themselves all have the same id, and only the last user form is actually getting populated with values. Does anyone have any ideas?? :) Thanks in advance!

  • Finding patterns of failure in a Unit Test

    - by Pekka
    I'm new to Unit Testing, and I'm only getting into the routine of building test suites. I have what is going to be a rather large project that I want to build tests for from the start. I'm trying to figure out general strategies and patterns for building test suites. When you look at a class, many tests come to you obviously due to the nature of the class. Say for a "user account" class with basic CRUD operations, being related to a database table, we will want to test - well, the CRUD. creating an object and seeing whether it exists query its properties change some properties change some properties to incorrect values and delete it again. As for how to break things, there are "fail" tests common to most CRUD classes like: Invalid input data types A number as the ID key that exceeds the range of the chosen data type Input in an incorrect character encoding Input that is too long And so on and so on. For a unit test concerned with file operations, the list of "breaking things" could be Invalid characters in file name File name too long File name uses incorrect protocol or path I'm pretty sure similar patterns - applicable beyond the unit test one is currently working on - can be found for most units that are being tested. Now my question is: Am I correct in seeing such "breaking patterns"? Or am I getting something completely wrong about Unit testing, and if I did it right, this wouldn't be an issue at all? Is Unit Testing as a process of finding as many ways to break the unit as possible the right way to go? If I am correct: Are there existing definitions, lists, cheat sheets for such patterns? Are there any provisions (mainly in PHPUnit, as that's the framework I'm working in) to automate such patterns? Is there any assistance - in the form of check lists, or software - to aid in writing complete tests?

  • Execute external program from Java

    - by Saurabh Lalwani
    Hi, I am trying to execute a program from the Java code. Here is my code: public static void main(String argv[]) { try { String line; Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "/bin/bash -c ls > OutputFileNames.txt"); BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(p.getInputStream())); while ((line = input.readLine()) != null) { System.out.println(line); } input.close(); } catch (Exception err) { err.printStackTrace(); } } My OS is Mac OS X 10.6. If I remove the "> OutputFileNames.txt" from the getRuntime().exec() method, all the file names are printed on the console just fine. But I need it to be printed to a file. Also, if I change the command to: Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( "cmd \c dir > OutputFileNames.txt"); and run it on Windows, it runs and prints the results in the file perfectly fine too. I have read the other posts for executing another application from Java but none seemed to relate to my problem. I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks,

  • $_FILES is null, $_POST is not null

Here's what I'm using for input: <label for="importFile">Attach Resume:</label> <input type="hidden" name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="10000000"> <input type="file" name="importFile" id="importFile" class="validate['required']"> And for processing: $uploaddir = "E:/Sites/OPL/2008/assets/apps/newjobs/resumes/"; $uploadfile = $uploaddir . time() . '-' . urlencode(basename($_FILES['importFile']['name'])); if (!move_uploaded_file($_FILES['importFile']['tmp_name'], $uploadfile)) { echo 'Error uploading file. Error number: ' . $_FILES['importFile']['error']; var_dump($_FILES['importFile']); echo $_POST['importFile']; die(); } Which is giving me this result: Error uploading file. Error number: NULL Maintaining The OPL Website.doc Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • C++ obtaining milliseconds time on Linux -- clock() doesn't seem to work properly

    - by hasen j
    On Windows, clock() returns the time in milliseconds, but on this Linux box I'm working on, it rounds it to the nearest 1000 so the precision is only to the "second" level and not to the milliseconds level. I found a solution with Qt using the QTime class, instantiating an object and calling start() on it then calling elapsed() to get the number of milliseconds elapsed. I got kind of lucky because I'm working with Qt to begin with, but I'd like a solution that doesn't rely on third party libraries, Is there no standard way to do this? UPDATE Please don't recommend Boost .. If Boost and Qt can do it, surely it's not magic, there must be something standard that they're using!

  • Complicated Order By Clause?

    - by Todd
    Hi. I need to do what to me is an advanced sort. I have this two tables: Table: Fruit fruitid | received | basketid 1 20100310 2 2 20091205 3 3 20100220 1 4 20091129 2 Table: Basket id | name 1 Big Discounts 2 Premium Fruit 3 Standard Produce I'm not even sure I can plainly state how I want to sort (which is probably a big part of the reason I can't seem to write code to do it, lol). I do a join query and need to sort so everything is organized by basketid. The basketid that has the oldest fruit.received date comes first, then the other rows with the same basketid by date asc, then the basketid with the next earliest fruit.received date followed by the other rows with the same basketid, and so on. So the output would look like this: Fruitid | Received | Basket 4 20091129 Premuim Fruit 1 20100310 Premuim Fruit 2 20091205 Standard Produce 3 20100220 Big Discounts Any ideas how to accomplish this in a single execution?

  • Is allocating a dynamic array without specifying size well formed code?

    - by Als
    The following simple program snippet gives compilation errorswith gcc-4.3.4. Program: int main() { char *ptr = new char[10]; char *ptr1 = new char[]; return 0; } Compilation errors: prog.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: prog.cpp:4: error: expected primary-expression before ‘]’ token prog.cpp:3: warning: unused variable ‘ptr’ prog.cpp:4: warning: unused variable ‘ptr1’ But the same compiles cleanly with MSVC without any diagnostic message. So my question is: Does the Standard allow an new [] to be called without specifying the size? Or this a bug in MSVC? Can someone provide a reference from the standard which will conclusively say that the above code example is ill-formed or well-formed? I have had a look at: 5.3.4 New [expr.new] & 18.4.1.2 Array forms [lib.new.delete.array] but couldnt find any conclusive evidence about the behavior.

  • posting form with file upload

    I am having trouble with uploading a file when using jquery. I have the following HTML in a form. <fieldset> <ul> <li> <div class="field"><input size="35" type="file" name="formFile" id="formFile"/></div> </li> <li> <div class="field"><input size="35" type="text" name="formFileName" id="formFileName" /></div> </li> </ul> </fieldset> To post the data I am using $('#myForm').ajaxForm( When I post the data and the recieved data contains some javascript, the javascript is not recognised. I expected the javscriptcode to run when the data is recieved, but it happens to early. The results indicates that $ or jquery could not be found. If I remove the name attribute from the input type=file element, there are no errors, but that is not the correct solution. How could this happen?

  • What is the purpose of using -pedantic in GCC/G++ compiler?

    - by huahsin68
    Hi, -ansi: tells the compiler to implement the ANSI language option. This turns off certain "features" of GCC which are incompatible with the ANSI standard. -pedantic: used in conjunction with -ansi, this tells the compiler to be adhere strictly to the ANSI standard, rejecting any code which is not compliant. Text above is extract from this note. First thing first, what is the purpose of usage of -pedantic and -ansi option with GCC/G++ compiler, I couldn't understand the above description. Can anyone tell me the circumstances of using the above two options? When should I use it? Is it important one? THanks @!

  • What is the best solution to replace a new memory allocator in an existing code?

    - by O. Askari
    During the last few days I've gained some information about memory allocators other than the standard malloc(). There are some implementations that seem to be much better than malloc() for applications with many threads. For example it seems that tcmalloc and ptmalloc have better performance. I have a C++ application that uses both malloc and new operators in many places. I thought replacing them with something like ptmalloc may improve its performance. But I wonder how does the new operator act when used in C++ application that runs on Linux? Does it use the standard behavior of malloc or something else? What is the best way to replace the new memory allocator with the old one in the code? Is there any way to override the behavior or new and malloc or do I need to replace all the calls to them one by one?

  • HLSL - Combining textures

    - by b34r
    Hi All, I'm trying to combine two textures in HLSL - specifically, I want to take the alpha values from a base image, and the color data from an overlay image. My pixel shader for this looks like this: float4 PixelShaderFunction(VertexOut input) : COLOR0 { float4 baseColor = tex2D( BaseSampler, input.baseCoords.xy ).rgba; float4 overlayColor = tex2D( OverlaySampler, input.overlayCoords.xy ).rgba; float4 color; color.r = overlayColor.r; color.g = overlayColor.g; color.b = overlayColor.b; color.a = baseColor.a; return color.rgba; } and my blend state looks like this: BlendState bs = new BlendState(); bs.AlphaSourceBlend = Blend.SourceAlpha; bs.AlphaDestinationBlend = Blend.DestinationAlpha; bs.ColorSourceBlend = Blend.SourceColor; bs.ColorDestinationBlend = Blend.DestinationColor; What this leaves me with is a washed out version of what should be the overlay color. I've tried numerous permutations of the BlendState settings, and played with the pixel shader math quite a bit, but to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance =)
