• I can't use achiva as a proxy of my remote repository

  I want to install Achiva to manage my Maven repositories. I add a new internal repository called "public" and a new remote repository, which is my company's repository. Then I configure the proxy connector to let the repository "public" to be a proxy of the remote one. But When I enter the address "http://localhost:8084/archiva/repository/public/.../....pom" in the web brower,error occurred "Unable to fetch artifact resource". However, if I replace the remote repository with another one such as "http://repository.codehaus.org/", the proxy works. I don't know why this happens, are there something wrong with my remote repository address?

• Question marks in Java generics.

  I tried to make sure this wasn't a duplicate post, sorry if I was blind. This is a small snippet of code taken from some of the examples that accompany the Stanford Parser. I've been developing in Java for about 4 years, but have never had a very strong understanding of what this style of code is supposed to indicate. List<? extends HasWord> wordList = toke.tokenize(); I'm not worried about the details of the code. What I'm confusing about is what exactly the generic expression is supposed to convey, in English. • Can I learn the iPhone SDK and complete an app by September?

  Hi everyone, I'm wondering if it's realistically possible to learn the iPhone SDK and complete an app by the end of this summer. The app shouldn't be too difficult, it would just interact with my site's API and essentially just fetch, create, and edit resources. I already have a little experience with the SDK (and I'm comfortable with Objective-C), so I'm not completely new to it. Although here I things I don't know how to do and what I'd need to learn: Log in to my site using basic http authentication and store the user's username/password for all future requests Implement a toolbar at the bottom to navigate between different views Fetch and parse xml into list items Do POST/PUT requests to create/edit a resource on my server Are there any good resources available to learn how to do those tasks above?   I have factory that looks something like the following snippet. Foo is a wrapper class for Bar and in most cases (but not all), there is a 1:1 mapping. As a rule, Bar cannot know anything about Foo, yet Foo takes an instance of Bar.   Possible Duplicate: Property Name and need its value Hi, This one should be easy for most people. I'd like to access a normal variable in an object (let's say example) by using a variable value. E.g.: I have a an array with a list of variable names and I want to get the information from the object by using them. Obviously this is wrong: string[] variable_names = new string[] {"name", "surname"}; myObject.variable_names[0] = 1; myObject.variable_names[1] = 1; In other languages (not C#) I use: myObject[variable_names[0]] = 1; I know the example looks stupid but it was just a way of explaining it.   I have several lists that contain many of the same items and many duplicate items. I want to check which items in one list are not in the other list. For example, I might have one list like this: l1 = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'b', 'c'] and one list like this: l2 = ['a', 'b', 'c', 'b'] Comparing these two lists I would want to return a third list like this: l3 = ['c'] I am currently using some terrible code that I made a while ago that I'm fairly certain doesn't even work properly shown below. def list_difference(l1,l2): for i in range(0, len(l1)): for j in range(0, len(l2)): if l1[i] == l1[j]: l1[i] = 'damn' l2[j] = 'damn' l3 = [] for item in l1: if item!='damn': l3.append(item) return l3 How can I better accomplish this task?

  I often want to compare arrays and make sure that they contain the same elements, in any order. IS there a consise way to do this in RSpec? Here are methods that aren't acceptable: #to_set For example: array.to_set.should == another_array.to_set This fails when the arrays contain duplicate items. #sort For example: array.sort.should == another_array.sort This fails when the arrays elements don't implement #<=> #size and #to_set For example: array.to_set.should == another_array.to_set array.size.should == another_array.size This would work, but there's got to be a better way.

• C/C++ enums: Detect when multiple items map to same value

  Is there a compile-time way to detect / prevent duplicate values within a C/C++ enumeration? The catch is that there are multiple items which are initialized to explicit values. Background: I've inherited some C code such as the following: #define BASE1_VAL (5) #define BASE2_VAL (7) typedef enum { MsgFoo1A = BASE1_VAL, // 5 MsgFoo1B, // 6 MsgFoo1C, // 7 MsgFoo1D, // 8 MsgFoo1E, // 9 MsgFoo2A = BASE2_VAL, // Uh oh! 7 again... MsgFoo2B // Uh oh! 8 again... } FOO; The problem is that as the code grows & as developers add more messages to the MsgFoo1x group, eventually it overruns BASE2_VAL. This code will eventually be migrated to C++, so if there is a C++-only solution (template magic?), that's OK -- but a solution that works with C and C++ is better.

  I am trying to implement order management module. There are different order types (approximately about 15). Each order has a seperate view. But the actions performed on UI are same irrespective of order type. Below is the structure of my DTO abstract class Order abstract class SecurityOrder extends Order abstract class TermDepositOrder extends Order ..... ..... ..... I am trying to implement a single controller capable of managing all views. Something similar to the one below: @Controller public class OrderController<F extends Order> { public F validate(F order) { } public F insert(F order) { } } I am not sure how spring mvc would be able to map request parameters properly to the order instance as it doesn't know which order instance to populate. Is it possible to achieve this with single controller or should I go with a controller for each order type and duplicate same code across all controllers?

• How to decide between a method or event?

  I read something ages ago I think by Jon Skeet (which I can't find now) saying that in IL, all events get converted to methods... it was before I understood C# and did not understand it all, but if that is (or even if it isn't) the gist of it.... In a purely hypothetical situation, I was wondering if someone could explain or point me to a resource that says when to use an event over a method? Basically, If I want to have a big red/green status picture which is linked to a Bool field, and I wanted to change it based on the value of the bool, should I: a) Have a method called Changepicture which is linked to the field and changes the state of the bool and the picture. b) Have a get/set part to the field and stick an event in the set part. c) Have a get/set part to the field and stick a method in the set part. d) Other?

  Seems unlikely, but is there any way to generate a set of unit tests for the following rewrite rule: RewriteRule ^/(user|group|country)/([a-z]+)/(photos|videos)$ http:/whatever?type=$1&entity=$2&resource=$3 From this I'd like to generate a set of urls of the form: /user/foo/photos /user/bar/photos /group/baz/videos /country/bar/photos etc... The reason I don't want to just do this once by hand is that I'd like the bounded alternation groups (e.g. (user|group|country)) to be able to grow and maintain coverage without having the update the tests by hand. Is there a rewrite rule or regex parser that might be able to do this, or am I doing it by hand?

• How can I measure distance with tastypie and geodjango?

  Using Tastypie and GeoDjango, I'm trying to return results of buildings located within 1 mile of a point. The TastyPie documentation states that distance lookups are not yet supported, but I am finding examples of people getting it work, such as this discussion and this discussion on StackOverflow, but no working code examples that can be applied. The idea that I am trying to work with is if I append a GET command to the end of a URL, then nearby locations are returned, for example: http://website.com/api/?format=json&building_point__distance_lte=[{"type": "Point", "coordinates": [153.09537, -27.52618]},{"type": "D", "m" : 1}] But when I try that, all I get back is: {"error": "Invalid resource lookup data provided (mismatched type)."} I've been pouring over the Tastypie document for days now and just can't figure out how to implement this. I'd provide more examples, but I know they'd be all terrible. All advice is appreciated, thank you!

• In Python, is there a way to call a method on every item of an iterable? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Is there a map without result in python? I often come to a situation in my programs when I want to quickly/efficiently call an in-place method on each of the items contained by an iterable. (Quickly meaning the overhead of a for loop is unacceptable). A good example would be a list of sprites when I want to call draw() on each of the Sprite objects. I know I can do something like this: [sprite.draw() for sprite in sprite_list] But I feel like the list comprehension is misused since I'm not using the returned list. The same goes for the map function. Stone me for premature optimization, but I also don't want the overhead of the return value. What I want to know is if there's a method in Python that lets me do what I just explained, perhaps like the hypothetical function I suggest below: do_all(sprite_list, draw)

• Simple Sinatra Ajax Not Working

  I was trying make an AJAX call from a static file on my computer to a simple sinatra service. The ajax call was returning with an error and no details. The server logged no errors either. Another strange symptom was that the Origin in the request header was null. I turns out that you can't make cross domain ajax calls without a little extra effort. You can set the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header on your sinatra response to expose your service to external domains using a snippet like this: get '/hi' do response['Access-Control-Allow-Origin'] = '*' content_type 'text/plain' "Hello World" end There's also another header you can set to allow other HTTP Methods besides gets, Access-Control-Request-Method. You can find more information by searching around for CORS: Cross Origin Resource Sharing and the previously mentioned headers. Oh, and in case you want to do this in Rails as well you can do something like this in your controller: after_filter :set_access_control_headers def set_access_control_headers headers['Access-Control-Allow-Origin'] = '*' headers['Access-Control-Request-Method'] = '*' end

• Can't add an object using EF and SQL Compact

  Hello, I have some very simple SQL Compact database. I would like to use Entity Framework to access the database but for some reason I can't add an object to this database using EF. Here is the code using (pos_inglotEntities posInglotCtx = new pos_inglotEntities()) { posInglotCtx.Connection.Open(); CT_POS_OITM item = new CT_POS_OITM() { ItemCode = "123", ItemName="abc"}; try { posInglotCtx.AddToCT_POS_OITM(item); posInglotCtx.SaveChanges(); } catch (Exception e) { } posInglotCtx.Connection.Close(); } After running this code my database is still empty although if I run it once again I get "duplicate values" exception. But again database is empty. I created this db using PrimeWorks conversion tool from standard sql server database. What is going on? Thanks in advance

  Can someone help me with a script I'm working with. http://jsfiddle.net/InVAMPED/XsG4e/4/ What I'm trying to achieve is placing a image where the user touches(ipad). There will be say 5 images that will each get attached once only. So first touch places img1, second touch imag2 etc untill all the images have been placed. Problem with my fsfiddle example is that when on ipad it doesnt count the first touch so you place the first image twice. it does duplicate the image on the second time just moves it to the second touches coordinates, then move on to 2, 3, 4, 5 as it should. any advice? or help to do this a better way? thanks

• For securing forms, when do I issue the token?

  So, I have a form, to make it a little more secure and potentially help prevent CSRF attacks I want to add a random token value in a hidden field that value is also stored server side in my session data. When should I issue a new token? Per form? Per page load where there is any form? Per session? I can render it invalid as soon as a form is successfully submitted but I'm wondering when to generate one. I ask as if I issue it per form or per page do I not risk the chance of a duplicate token value overwriting the existing (valid) token if a user opens a separate window but submitting the first form (with the now overwritten value)?

  I was wondering if anyone knows of some good community distributed custom DDL templates for Entity Framework 4.0. The default DDL to SQL10 Works well enough, but we're looking to do some customization to the naming convention that it just isn't offering us. I'm not really finding many samples out there of people doing this, so I was hoping someone might know of a resource I'm overlooking (perhaps I am searching for it wrong, or misunderstanding how the whole process works) Specifically we're wanting to change up how it writes out fields from relationships. For instance, the default template puts in.. tablename_propertyendpoint_propertyname. We're wanting to find tune this to our naming scheme a little more. And none of us can quite figure out where in the .tt files it is doing this exact behavior.

This url is going to be generated for theme images, not links, so I can't url link_to or url_for. Here's an example of what I want to do: <%= theme_image("delete_icon.png", :theme => "my_theme") %> If my app is running at http://localhost, This would return: <img src="/themes/my_theme/images/delete_icon.png"> but If my app is running at http://localhost/myapp, This would return: <img src="/myapp/themes/my_theme/images/delete_icon.png"> Can anyone point me in the right direction to generate a dynamic, absolute url to a non-routed resource?

  I'm stuck on how to formulate this problem properly and the following is: What if we had the following values: {('A','B','C','D'):3, ('A','C','B','D'):2, ('B','D','C','A'):4, ('D','C','B','A'):3, ('C','B','A','D'):1, ('C','D','A','B'):1} When we sum up the first place values: [5,4,2,3] (5 people picked for A first, 4 people picked for B first, and so on like A = 5, B = 4, C = 2, D = 3) The maximum values for any alphabet is 5, which isn't a majority (5/14 is less than half), where 14 is the sum of total values. So we remove the alphabet with the fewest first place picks. Which in this case is C. I want to return a dictionary where {'A':5, 'B':4, 'C':2, 'D':3} without importing anything. This is my work: def popular(letter): '''(dict of {tuple of (str, str, str, str): int}) -> dict of {str:int} ''' my_dictionary = {} counter = 0 for (alphabet, picks) in letter.items(): if (alphabet[0]): my_dictionary[alphabet[0]] = picks else: my_dictionary[alphabet[0]] = counter return my_dictionary This returns duplicate of keys which I cannot get rid of. • Is there a way to arbitrarily load Resources at runtime in Android?

  I've got some XML resources in my Android app. Each one has a different name like "bicycle.xml" and "car.xml". I'd like to know if there's a way to load resources based on conditions during run time. As an example... Say I had a text input in my app. When the user enters "bicycle", my app can look up an XML resource by that name, parse and load it. Whereas if they enter "car", they would end up with the data from the other XML file. I've noticed so far that to load resources, you have to use the autogenerated "R" class, which restricts you to hard-coding resources at compile time.

• Best way to access a sqlite database file in a web service.

  First question from me on stack overflow. I have created a java web application containing a web service using netbeans (I hope a web application were the correct choice). I use the web application as is with no extra frameworks. This web service use a sqlite JDBC driver for accessing a sqlite database file. My problem is that the file path end up incorrect when I try to form the JDBC connection string. Also, the working directory is different when deploying and when running JUnit tests. I read somewhere about including the file as a resource, but examples of this were nowhere to be seen. In any case, what is the best way to open the sqlite database, both when the web service is deployed and when I test it "localy"? I don't know much about web services, I just need it to work, so please, help me with the technicalities.
