I expect the following code to print 1990, but it prints 1989! $val = '$19.9'; $val = preg_replace('/[^\d.]/','',$val); $val = intval($val * 100); echo $val; Why on earth is this happening? Edit: and this code: $val = '$19.9'; $val = preg_replace('/[^\d.]/','',$val); echo $val . "<br>"; $val = $val * 100; echo $val . "<br>"; $val = intval($val); echo $val; Prints: 19.9 1990 1989 Why does intval(1990) equal 1989???

    I have the code below . it looks for the case and creates an array of rows and columns. $pv->results[$row1][1][0] actually is $pv->result->[rownumber][coulmnnumber][0]. Now this is for only 2 columns as you can see. However I want an array like $myArr = array(0=>1, 1=>7, 2=>8, 3=>9 ) to be added below for column. What it is doing, is adding 4 columns (0,1,2,3) into the code below. So now I will have 4 cases instead of 2 cases as I need to more columns. Also the case value will not be 1 and 2, it will be 1, 7, 8 and 9 respectively. How can I do that?   • Extracting Text from between parentheses in PHP using preg_replace

    I am trying to take a string of text like so: $string = "This (1) is (2) my (3) example (4) text"; In every instance where there is a positive integer inside of parentheses, I'd like to replace that with simply the integer itself. The code I'm using now is: $result = preg_replace("((\d+))", "$0", $string); But I keep getting a "Delimiter must not be alphanumeric or backslash" error. Any thoughts? I know there are other questions on here that sort of answer the question, but my knowledge of regex is not enough to switch it over to this example.

  • using fopen on uploaded file with php

    Im uploading a file, and then attempting to use fgetcsv to do things to it. This is my script below. Everything was working fine before i added the file upload portions. Now its not showing any errors, its just not displaying the uploaded data.     I've been using prepared statements for a little while now and I've never had any problems. Now I'm trying to: $sql="SELECT PhotoID,Caption FROM Photos WHERE EntityID=? AND TypeID=? LIMIT ?,?"; $iDB = new mysqliDB(); // Extends mysqli $stmt = $iDB->prepare($sql); $stmt->bind_param('iiii',$entityID,$typeID,$minRange,$maxRange); $stmt->execute(); $stmt->bind_result($photoID,$caption); echo("Affected={$stmt->affected_rows}"); This prints -1. I have triple tested that all 4 values in bindParam are set, and that the sql query works when pasted into myAdmin with the respective values. Any idea what may be causing this?

    Hi everybody, I want to create a function that returns the full path from a set node, back to the root value. I tried to make a recursive function, but ran out of luck totally. What would be an appropriate way to do this? I assume that a recursive function is the only way?   • problems with UTF-8 encoding in PHP

    Hi guys, The characters I am getting from the URL, for example www.mydomain.com/?name=john , were fine, as longs as they were not in Russian. If they were are in Russian, I was getting '????'. So I added $name= iconv("cp1251","utf-8" ,$name); and now it works fine for Russian and English characters, but screws up other languages. :))) For example 'Janis' ( Latvian ) that worked fine before iconv, now turns into 'j??nis'. Any idea if there's some universal encoder that would work with both the Cyrillic languages and not screw up other languages?

Is it possible to have the nested set loaded with these conditions?
