  I've created a WCF service and added it to an existing Silverlight application that I am working on. When I run the silverlight application in debug mode it fails when I reference the WCF web service. Unrecognized element '' in service reference configuration. Note that only a subset of the Windows Communication Foundation configuration functionality is available in Silverlight. After searching around apparently the following line is causing the app to fail: <transport> <extendedProtectionPolicy policyEnforcement="Never" /> </transport> After removing the above lines everything works. What is the issue here? Should I believing this code in and configuring something else?

• Creating a VS 2010 Project with only content files.

  I have some content files that I would like to share between a number of projects in Visual Studio. I have put these files in their own project, set the build action to "Content", and the copy to output directory to "Copy if newer". I would like all these files to be copied to the bin/debug directory of the projects that reference them. I can get it to work by including a reference to the "contents" project in each of the projects that need the files, but that requires that a minimal assembly be generated (3K). I assume there is a way, using MSBuild, to make this all work without creating the empty assembly?

  Hello, I have an application set up where the window contains a tab bar controller and one of the tabs loads a NIB called 'ShowCaseView.xib': this file is owned by a custom ShowcaseViewController class. In the ShowcaseViewcontroller class I have added a UIScrollView object, like so: imageScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:[[self view] bounds]]; [[self view] addSubview:imageScrollView]; The issue I am having is that this UIScrollView object extends beneath my tab bar controller. So I have had to reduce its insets manually: #define TAB_BAR_HEIGHT 48 . . UIEdgeInsets edgeInsets = UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, 0, TAB_BAR_HEIGHT, 0); [imageScrollView setScrollIndicatorInsets:edgeInsets]; So, Is it common to have to manually deduct the tab bar height from a view (whether this be by reducing the size of subviews or the View NIB in inspector)? Is there a way that I can tell a NIB's view loaded from a tab bar to resize itself automatically to NOT sit behind the tab bar? Cheers

• Remove a toolbar when pushing a new view

  In the iPhone maps app there's a toolbar at the bottom of the map view (it contains the Search/Directions segment control and others). When moving from the map view by clicking on a callout, the toolbar slides out with the map view, leaving the next view (a table controller) with no toolbar. I've tried to do the same thing with [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES animated:YES] in the second view controller, but this gives a strange toolbar sliding down animation, while the map view is sliding to the left. Using [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES] in viewDidLoad:animated also causes a bad effect (it makes the toolbar disappear the moment the push animation starts, leaving an ugly white space). I'm assuming the answer to this is to use a nib file, but I'd prefer to do it programatically (if possible). How can I get the toolbar to "stick" to the map view and slide out with it when I push a new view controller? Thanks.

  Hello, I'm using IIS 7 as web server for my application. If I enable dynamic content compression in the server, will this also enable clients to send compressed data to the server, if they can? I mean, my application uses SOAP webservices, and clients usually send large chunks of data to the server. The clients are written in C#/.NET. Is there any kind of configuration I can do in a web reference / serice reference in order to tell them to compress the content before they send it to IIS? And do I have to do any kind of configuration in IIS in order for this to work? Thanks in advance

  Hey All, Okay, so I have a viewController method that has some elements created with interface builder and some I coded myself. I created a view in the IB...lets call it viewOne. I created a loop that creates buttons (through code) and places them on a separate view (viewTwo). This is done in a class method. However, I want the view I made to be opened everytime one of the buttons is clicked. So I did: [button addTarget:self action:@selector(woogoo:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; The woogoo class does the following: +(void) woogoo:(id)sender { //back button [self.view addSubview:viewOne] } However, the program crashes when a button is clicked. I did try making woogoo an instance method but it also crashes in this case too. All I want to do is show viewOne when a button is clicked. Any ideas what I can do?

  This is likely a novice question about LINQ, but assuming I have a set of Items with a DateTime property, one date having at most one item, how would I go about selecting the N most recent items from a date of reference, that is, the N items which have a date smaller that the requested date, and the largest date?   I'm building an iPhone application where I detach some threads to do long-running work in the background so as not to hang the UI. I understand that threads need NSAutoreleasePool instances for memory management. What I'm not sure about is if the threaded method calls another method - does that method also need an NSAutoreleasePool? Example code: - (void)primaryMethod { [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(threadedMethod) withObject:nil]; } - (void)threadedMethod { NSAutoreleasePool *aPool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; // Some code here [self anotherMethod]; // Maybe more code here [aPool drain]; } - (void)anotherMethod { // More code here } The reason I ask is I'm receiving errors that objects are being autoreleased with no pool in place, and are "just leaking." I've seen other questions where people didn't have autorelease pools in place at all, and I understand why an autorelease pool is needed. I'm specifically interested in finding out whether an autorelease pool created in (in this example) threadedMethod applies to objects created in anotherMethod.

  I'm trying to create an iPad application with a similar user interface to Apple's Mail application, i.e: RootView controller (table view) on the left hand side of the split view for navigation with a multiple view hierarchy. When a table cell is selected a new table view is pushed on the left hand side The new view on the left side can update the detail view. I can accomplish both tasks BUT NOT TOGETHER. I mean I can make a multi-level table view in the RootController.(HERE you can find the working source code). Or I can make a single-level table view in the RootController which can update the detailViewController (here there is the source code:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D6L0463G). Can anyone tell me how to make a multi-level table in the RootController which can update a detailViewController? • Cheap windows driver signing for 64 bit Windows 7

  I need to install the libusb-win32 driver on Windows 7 64 bit machines. This driver is open source so it is not digitally signed so I want to do this my self but I wonder if this can be done WITHOUT paying lot of money. Is it possible to use a certificate which is NOT signed by Verisign or GlobalSign? Maybe self-signed or by using StartSSL instead? And if yes, how do I do it? According to this howto I have to use a "cross-certificate" (And there are only six available on the Microsoft list and most of them are for CAs which are no longer active) I don't care if the user is confronted with a warning message. I can even accept if the user has to install a special CA certificate first. I only require that the driver runs without manually disabling the signature check on each windows startup.
