  • Where is the VM in LLVM?

    Note: marked as community wiki. Where is the Low Level Virtual Machine in LLVM? I see that we have llvm-g++ and c-lang, but to me, a LLVM is something almost like Valgrind of a simulator, where instructions are executed on it, and I can write programs to instrument the running code / interrupt when certain conditions happen / etc ... Where are the tools like this built on LLVM? Thanks!

  • Eclipse Ganymede for OS X contains no HTML formatter. Alternatives?

    In Eclipse 3.4 for Windows, the Source - Format option for formatting Java code was extended to format HTML code. However, for OS X, this option is disabled. Additionally, there are no formatting options in the Preferences. I've downloaded all the Web Tools for Eclipse and the option is still unavailable. Which plugin/feature allows for HTML formatting on Eclipse OS X, if there is one? Otherwise, what is a good Web-based alternative? Thanks, Adam

  • 8007064c(2011) and 80280007(2009) persistant after all known repairs

    I'm on Windows 7 Home x64, and have ran into a major issue with Live Messenger(which I use daily). I have full offline installers for both 2011 and the last Wave 3 2009(14.0.8117.0416) Suites. Both give the following errors: Live Essentials 2011 Offline installer(official): An unknown error occured. Error:0x8007064c Source WLXSuite WL 2009 offline installer(official): You already have a more recent version of Windows Live. Error: OnCatalogResult:0x80280007 Next steps: If you want to install this older version, first uninstall any later versions that are on your computer. Get help with this error The 2011 installer also says it is updating messenger, I don't select anything else. Then last 2009 installer says their is a newer version that needs uninstalled even after the following procedures. MS Help pages provided all basically lead to using uninstall from control panel. Which I've uninstalled all Live components including watcom safety scanner and portable SQL from. I've followed online instructions for manually deleting folders from Program Files(x86), Appdata, and some others under \User\All Users and the one for the one account on the machine. I've used CCcleaner 3.01, ASC 3.7.3 and Beta 4 with deep scan along with deleting folders, and checked their uninstallers for Live components too, and none were there. wlmuninstaller.exe tool reports nothing, but after a failed install it finds something, but failes to clean it under all user admin privilege. The same errors still occur after all of that. Google searching I see people on forums suggesting reinstalling the OS cause MS doesn't even know how to fix this, but I'm hoping someone here can help. NOTE: I don't have System Restore or any other state freeze utilities going, and I don't have any real time AV going(I sometime scan with defender, anti rootkits, and online scanners).     Can you recommend a tool that can analyze a SQL database table, read the table columns, and populate an .aspx page with appropriate controls (i.e. textboxes with matching labels)? See this demo of ComponentOne InputPanel for WinForms for the functionality desired. Are there any built-in tools for ASP.NET 2.0 WebForms that can help build a scaffold page for any given database table or entity? Are there any free components out there to help achieve this goal?

  • Is there any free software to check for issues with a DVD drive?

    I don't usually play movies on my laptop (prefer the standalone with the tv), but I tried to watch one the other night, and noticed playback was really choppy and had audio artifacts in places. I thought it could be related to memory issues so I rebooted and tried again, but the results were the same. I considered that it could be an issue with the disc, so I tried to clean it but again there was no change. I don't think the problem is with the disc, because I tried another disc and it also had the same problem. I don't think I've ever watched the second disc since I've had it, so it should have been safe in its jewel case. Also, there were no issues when I watched an episode off the first disc in my standalone player. What I'm wondering is: are there are any (free) utilities that can check for issues with the drive itself? I looked around but most of the software I found focuses on integrity checks for the disc, not the drive. I have had issues with this laptop recently (had to replace the keyboard when the cat damaged it while I was cleaning dust out and the machine was ripped apart, also replaced part of the chassis after I cracked it when I tried to open it not knowing a screw was still in it) so I may have just replaced the drive incorrectly. I'm going to check on this while I await an answer to this question. Thanks.

    I can't find XamlPad anywhere after I installed .NET 4.0 / Visual Studio 2010 and Windows 7 SDK - v7.1. I tried searching C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\bin and did a dir /s xamlpad.exe to see if the Windows Index service didn't get to that folder yet. And it's not under Start Menu - All Programs - Windows SDK v7.1 -- Tools. Where has it gone? Did MS deprecate it? Thanks

    Are there any tools that can verify whether a jQuery plugin will be compatible with the latest version of jQuery? Once a large number of jQuery plugins are selected and in use, an unknown number of dependencies can develop. It would be nice to upgrade jQuery, however not all plugins remain supported or provide consistently architected upgrades. The only option seems to be adhoc manual regression testing. It would be nice to have a strategy for dealing with this issue.

  • BSOD during Cygwin install

    I have been running Cygwin (1.7.7) under Windows Vista 64-bit, SP2 for at least a year, and had no problems with my installation at all until today. When I tried to install apt-cyg, I realized that I needed to get the svn client. During the installation of the package dependencies, Vista threw a blue screen of death. I hoped this was a one-time occurrence, so I rebooted into Vista and tried to install svn again; same result. Next I completely removed Cygwin's directory, and all Cygwin registry entries; at this point, I tried reinstalling the base Cygwin system again. During the installation of bash, I got another BSOD: Apologies for the fuzzy pic, I had to shoot with my phone camera. I googled for BSOD and Cygwin and found a post by Dave Korn mentioning that the only reasons Cygwin should cause a BSOD is because of either ioperm.sys or some USB utilities. I have neither on my system. Every time I have tried reinstalling, Vista BSODs; I have not had problems installing any other software packages on this Vista machine. How can I get Cygwin installed again (without reinstalling Vista)?
