  I have an NSArray with 3 objects in it. Each object is made up of 5 values. How can I sort by Date with in the objects? result: ( gg, "2012-10-28 01:34:00 +0000", "Church Bells", "pin_red", 1 )( iu, "2008-09-22 17:32:00 +0000", "Birthday Song", "pin_red", 1 )( "my birthday woo hoo", "2012-09-04 19:27:00 +0000", "Birthday Song", "pin_blue", 1 ) The results I am looking for - Sorted Array should look like this. • Returning messages in Smalltalk

  I have a Dictionary of objects I have created in smalltalk, which I am iterating over by enumerating it based on the key/value pairs. For value object in the dictionary, I am calling a method on that object. Based on certain conditions, I would like for this object to be able to add a new member to dictionary, and possibly delete another one. I've been looking at the 'Perform' and 'Messages' facilities in Smalltalk, but I'm not sure if it is even possible to do what I'm trying to do - is it possible to return a message (or multiple messages), which another object can process and perform? For example, could my method return 'removeKey: 19' and 'add object' at the same time? I am using GNU Smalltalk, if it matters.

  In my application, I have a dictionary of phrases that are used throughout of the application. This same dictionary is used to create PDFs and Excel Spreadsheets. The dictionary looks like so: GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB = { 'fiscal_year': _('Fiscal Year'), 'region': _('Region / Focal Area'), 'prepared_by': _('Preparer Name'), 'review_cycle':_('Review Period'), ... snip ... } In the code to produce the PDF, I have: fy = dashboard_v.fiscal_year fy_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['fiscal_year'] rg = dashboard_v.dashboard.region rg_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['region'] rc = dashboard_v.review_cycle rc_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['review_cycle'] pb = dashboard_v.prepared_by pb_label = GLOBAL_MRD_VOCAB['prepared_by'] Now, when the PDF is produced, in the PDF, I don't see these labels but rather, I see: <django.utils.functional.__proxy__ object at 0x10106fdd0> Can somebody help me with this?   Hi, Given an object X; I want this object to have an image. The image must be stored in the database. I can't store the path, the actual image must be in the database. My question can be answered by answering the following subquestions: a) What type of field should I put in the database? (e.g VARCHAR) b) What type of object should I use for storing and manipulating the image (at an object layer)? (e.g java.awt.Image) c) How do I create an object of the type selected (answer of question b) from the data obtained from the database? d) How do I save an object of the type selected (answer of question b) to the database? e) How do I draw the image on a web page? I am using postgresql, java and it is a web application. Thanks!

  Hi guys, I have two objects. Object A and Object B. Object A is an instance of a class that was generated from several XSD files. Used xsd.exe /c and compiled them. Now I have my new object. I also have a web service, returning something very similar to object A. So right now I have something along the lines of this: WebService.foo myResponseObj = MyService.GetObject(inData); MyFramework.foo myClientObj = new MyFramework.foo(); What I want to do is this myClientObj = (MyFramework.foo)myResponseObj However, it's not really liking this. Says "Cannot implicitly convert MyFramework.foo[] to WebService.foo[] Any ideas on how to resolve this? The object is quite large and they are basically identical.

• JSF - Updating Model Values in Controller Bean

  I have a Controller bean (SearchController) that has two managed bean as managed properties (SearchCriteria, SearchResults; both of which are session scoped). When the user hits the find button, the action method that is executed is in SearchController. The SearchCreteria managed bean has a method called search(). This method returns a new SearchResults object. In the controller bean, I am setting the searchResults managed property to be this new SearchResults object. The searchResults object contains what I expect during that request, but the object does not persist in the managed bean. I understand that I am changing what object that searchResults is referencing, but what I don't understand is why JSF isn't updating the model to use the new object. Any ideas what I'm missing or don't understand? I am using JSF 1.1 on WebSphere 6.1. If I put the search method in the SearchResults managed bean, it works.

• How prevent anyone from stealing my shared_ptr?

  So, I use boost::shared_ptr for all the various reference-counting benefits it provides -- reference counting for starters, obviously, but also the ability to copy, assign, and therefore store in STL Containers. The problem is, if I pass it to just one "malicious" function or object, the object can save the ptr and then I'll never be able to de-allocate it without the foreign function or object nicely relinquishing its ownership. Ultimately, I try to keep object ownership explicit. I accomplish this by having the owner keep the only shared_ptr to the object, and "guest" objects only store weak_ptrs to the object. I really don't want the "shared" part of shared_ptr, but I'm required to use shared_ptr in order to make weak_ptrs. I want to use scoped_ptr, but it's extremely limited since you can't copy it. You can't store it in a container, you can't lend out weak_ptrs from it, and you can't transfer ownership to a new manager. What's the solution?

I have an ArrayList of custom objects that have the following properties: FileName FilePath CurrentFolder TopLevelFolder I then need to do a BinarySearch (or some other quick search) on the FileName property on all the objects in the ArrayList in .NET. In other words, I need to find the object in the ArrayList with the same FileName as the one I'm searching on. • C# type safe and developer friendly list/collection technique

  I am populating a "Dictionary" with the results of an sp call. The key is the field name and the value is whatever value the sp returns for the field. This is all well and good but I'd like developers to have a predefined list of keys to access this list, for safety and documentation reasons. What I'd like to do is have something like an enum as a key for the dictionary so developers can safely access the list, but still have the ability to access the dictionary with a string key value. I am hoping to have a list of string values that I can access with an enum key AND a string key. Please make sure any suggestions are simple to implement, this is not the kind of thing I'm willing to build a lot of overhead to implement.

• JS Variable inside another variable

  I have a function that would use other variables, depending on what has been passed. Like this = ActionBar(slot) slot contains "one". and I would like to create a call inside that like object.slot.name but it should convert it before hand to make the command look like object.one.name. Is there a way to do this in javascript/jquery? I remember vaguely that some other language does this as {slot} or something like that. Sorry if this question was already asked, I've checked google and stackoverflow too, but didn't find an answer. Also I'd like to know what's the proper programming term for this kind of variable passing? Edited it cause of misunderstandings. I'm looking into OOP js, so object is an object, one is an object, and name is an attribute, but when passing I'm passing "one" as a string to the function. Tried eval, it doesn't work while dotted with an object.

The callbacks from the newly created (and released) object fails at this point, or rather, doesn't happen. - (void)doSomething { MyObj *myObj = [[MyObj alloc] init]; myObj.delegate = self; [myObj performOperation]; [myObj release]; } - (void)callbackMethodFromMyObj:(NSString *)message { NSLog(message); } I can't release the object until the callback has occurred, and I can't avoid releasing the object in the same method that creates it (because it exists outside the scope). One way of doing it would be to pass the object along in the call-back and release it in the callback, but is this the right way to go about this?

  If I have an enumeration of dictionaries IEnumerable<IDictionary<string, float>> enumeration can I perform a Linq query on it so that I can select by a value from each dictionary in the enumeration using the same key? I can do this in a loop: float f; foreach (var dictionary in enumeration) { if (dictionary.TryGetValue("some key", out f)) { Console.WriteLine(f); } } (The eventual plan is to compare the performance of the query verses the equivalent nested looping statements (the enumeration itself is formed from either another query or an equivalent set of loops).)

• Jquery Ajax Request working on Ubuntu but not working on Debian?

  I have a strange bug. I develop my application under linux ubuntu. Then i export my project under linux debian for production. I use a classic $.ajax request which return to url ,a json file to parse its content. I created a javascript alert() on the sucess part to see what is returned. Under the developpement version under ubuntu, it's works and i get : [object Object],[object Object],[object Object] Under the production environnement under debian, it's not working and i get my jsonfile content : [ { "cell_line" : "", "id_user" : "2", "public" : "0", },{...},{..} ,etc...] What is going on here? I really don't understand? How the change of platform (ubuntu to debian) can do this??? There is something I am missing.. I'll really appreciate some help on that. Thanks!

The Dictionary looks like this: Dictionary<string, List<ushort>> msgs I am a bit confused how to make a make a proper call to pass msgs as the buffer. deviceNumber is 2, wordCount is 32, and buffLink is 0. So i know the call should look something like this write_buffer(2,32,0, msgs[key]); Obviously i am getting an invalid argument for the IntPtr. What is the proper way to make this call?

  I need to use an implicit ordering that has been defined in an object in a file abc in the following way: object abc{ implicit def localTimeOrdering: Ordering[LocalDate] = Ordering.fromLessThan(_.isBefore(_)) } So, I make a package object xyz inside a file 'package.scala' that in turn is in the package 'xyz' that has files in which I need the implicit ordering to be applicable. I write something like this: package object xyz{ import abc._ } It does not seem to work. If I manually write the implicit definition statement inside the package object, it works perfectly. What is the correct way to import the object (abc) such that all of its objects/classes/definitions can be used in my entire package 'xyz' ?

  I have code like the following: class MyClass { string Name; int NewInfo; } List<MyClass> newInfo = .... // initialize list with some values Dictionary<string, int> myDict = .... // initialize dictionary with some values foreach(var item in newInfo) { if(myDict.ContainsKey(item.Name)) // 'A' I hash the first time here myDict[item.Name] += item.NewInfo // 'B' I hash the second (and third?) time here else myDict.Add(item.Name, item.NewInfo); } Is there any way to avoid doing two lookups in the Dictionary -- the first time to see if contains an entry, and the second time to update the value? There may even be two hash lookups on line 'B' -- one to get the int value and another to update it.
