Hello, i would like to add some external .dll libraries e.g. glut32.dll (but it's only example) in vs 2008 using C#. Can you please tell me what should i do step by step? i am a little bit confused cause i found a lot of solutions to add dll files but they significantly differ.. some of them add dll's only using code, some using properties in vs, add references and in other tutorials there is about registering dlls in system. But how to put it all together? Regards!

Does the `Expires` HTTP header needs to be consistent across multiple cold-cache requests?

I'm implementing a custom web server of a kind. And am looking into adding an Expires header support. However, I'm a little unsure of how exactly to implement it. If multiple cold-cache requests are being made to the same unchanged resource on the server and the server returned different Expires header (say it uses relative time to calculate the exact value of the Expires date e.g. +6 hours from the request time), does that invalidate the cache on all the proxy servers in-between as well? Or is it impossible to happen (per the spec)? Does the Expires HTTP header needs to be consistent across multiple cold-cache requests?

My code is working when I use dinamycally, without any defined image. When I try with a imapge path, the code does not work. How can I solve this problem? How do I parse an XML file that's on a different web server?

I have a list of training dates saved into an XML file, and I have a little javascript file that parses all of the training dates and spits them out into a neatly formatted page. This solution was fine until we decided that we wanted another web-page on another sever to access the same XML file. Since I cannot use JavaScript to parse an XML file that's located on another server, I figured I'd just use an ASP script. Diff tool that can compare sub-sections of files

I'm looking for a diff tool that will allow me to compare just a sub-section of a file with a section of another file, or even of itself. Preferably eclipse based but will take all suggestions. Yes I know I can copy out the two sections into different files and compare those, but that is very tedious when you are trying to do a large amount of refactoring. Basically I'm trying to remove as much duplicated code as possible from a code base that is suffering from a great deal of ctrl-V 'inheritance' ;-) However the pasted parts have evolved apart a little over time.

Evenly distribute items on the screen

I am trying to solve this little puzzle (the algorithm): I have N image icons and I want to distribute them evenly on users screen. Say, I put them in a table. If there is one image, there will be one cell in a table. If two - one row with two columns, if three - one row and three columns, if four - two rows, two columns... and so on until row space is gone and since then the table should only grow in columns without adding extra rows. I'm trying to figure an algorithm for this and perhaps this is something that has a solution already somewhere? My attempt is so far something like this: obtain_max_rows() obtain_visible_columns() if (number_of_pictures > max_rows*max_columns) { columns = roundup(number_of_pictures/max_rows) for(max_rows){generate row;for columns{generate column}} } else { **here comes to trouble...** } This logic is bit silly though - it somehow needs to think cases where there are 12 pictures on first screen and 2 on the other trying to balance it say 8/6 or somehow like that.

Moving and resizing JPanels object inside JFrame.

Continuing my quest of learning Java by doing a simple game, i stumbled upon a little issue. My gameboard extends JPanel as well as each piece of the board. Now, this presents some problems: Cant set size of each piece, therefore, each piece JPanel ocupy the whole JFrame, concealing the rest of the pieces and the background (gameboard). Cant set the position of the pieces. I have the default flow manager. Tried setbounds and no luck. Perhaps i should make the piece to extend other JComponent?

Multiple children in single form in rails

I have a model that has an arbitrary number of children entities. For simplicity lets call the entities Orders and Items. I would like to have a create Orders form where I input the order information, as well as add as many items as I want. If I click the "Add another item" button, a new set of form elements will be added to input the new data, amounts, etc.. I could hack this out in pure javascript, but I'm pretty sure there has to be a more magical, railsish way to do it, maybe with a partial view or something. I'm just a little too new to rails to know what it is. What is the best way to dynamically add the new form elements, and then to access them in the create controller?

Ruby (on Rails) && PHP - two great things that work great together???

I've done very little work with Ruby, and have an app I've written in PHP. I would like to add some functionality which is available in open sourced Ruby code. I could either try to translate the Ruby to PHP, or try mixing the two. Though I think the mixing part would be somewhat silly. I believe my options are to either mix ruby with php, or translate the ruby code into php. Anybody have any suggestions on this, or other ideas? ASP.Net MVC 2 / EF 4 Reference Issue

My ASP.Net MVC 2 project references a Domain project where POCO business objects are defined and a Data project where EF 4 POCO persistence is implemented. Things were running well until I had a little fussiness with my version control provider (rollback to previous version left me with merge conflicts). Now, upon launching the MVC 2 project, I get a runtime error: The type 'System.Data.Objects.DataClasses.IEntityWithKey' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'System.Data.Entity, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'. However, every project references System.Data.Entity (same version). If I remove the reference to System.Data.Entity from the MVC 2 project, I get the same message as a compile-time error. I'm pretty sure something got messed up when I had the version control issue, but really not sure where to look for this one.

ASP.NET Dynamic form generation and submition

I need to create a form where for each day in the month the user will enter in several different values (Im thinking a grid sort of thing, values along the top, day of the month along the side) using ASP.NET forms with C# backend... So what would be the best way to generate this form? I dont want to hardcode that many controls as it would make the submition a little annoying but i also would need to be able to give it values entered in previous days and have it display them in the textboxes. How would i go about creating this form and also how would i get the values from the textboxes in the backend?

looking for a set union find algorithm

I have thousands of lines of 1 to 100 numbers, every line define a group of numbers and a relationship among them. I need to get the sets of related numbers. Little Example: If I have this 7 lines of data T1 T2 T3 T4 T5 T6 T1 T5 T4 T3 T4 I need a not so slow algorith to know that the sets here are: T1 T2 T6 (because T1 is related with T2 in the first line and T1 related with T6 in the line 5) T3 T4 T5 (because T5 is with T4 in line 6 and T3 is with T4 in line 7) but when you have very big sets is painfully slow to do a search of a T(x) in every big set, and do unions of sets... etc. Do you have a hint to do this in a not so brute force manner? I'm trying to do this in python. Thanks

New to C/C++ Using Android NDK to port Legacy code, getting compile errors

I have been trying to take some old Symbian C++ code over to Android today using the NDK. I have little to no C or C++ knowledge so its been a chore, however has to be done. My main issue is that I'm having trouble porting what I believe is Symbian specifi code to work using the small C/C++ subset that is available with the Android NDK. Here is a picture of the compilation errors I'm getting using cygwin I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on how to deal with these errors? For instance is TBool/Int/TUint/RPointerArray/RSocket a Symbian primitive and thats why it wont compile or is it something else? Also what is ISO C++? Any tutorials, guides or tips and help would be greatly appreciated.

Subversion: What to do with branches, tags and trunk folders?

A little background first: I'm a designer/developer and decided to use subversion for a personal project. I'm the only one working on this project. I've setup a Beanstalk account and installed Versions on Mac. Locally I have MySQL and PHP running through MAMP. First thing I did in Versions is click the 'checkout' button. I selected my webroot folder and a folder has been created with three subfolders: branches, tags, trunk. I don't understand what to do with this. My code lives in the webroot and a bunch of subfolders and I can't move my code to any of the three folders without breaking things. So, my question is, how do I tell Versions that my code is in the webroot folder and not in the folder it created itself?

How to refresh an activity?

Hi Guys, after implementing some Android Apps, including several Map activities, I try to refresh the activity when the GPS listener's onLocationChanged() mehtod is called. I have no Idea how to tell the map activity to refresh on its own and display the new coords... the coords to store will have to be in global values, so that the location listener will have access to it. In my sample GPS-class (see code below) I just changed the text of a text view....but how to do that in map view? private class MyLocationListener implements LocationListener { @Override public void onLocationChanged(Location loc) { final TextView tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.myTextView); if (loc != null) { tv.setText("Location changed : Lat: " + loc.getLatitude() + " Lng: " + loc.getLongitude()); } } I think the solution of this Problem won't be very difficult, but I just need the beginning ;-) This whole app shall work like a really simple navigation system. Twitter feed appears to be both RSS 2.0 and Atom?

I'm parsing various site feeds, and putting together a small library to help me do it. Looking at the Atom RFC and RSS 2.0 specification, feeds from Twitter seem to be a combination. Twitter specifies an Atom namespace in an RSS 2.0 structure? GitHub uses Atom, whereas Flickr (offers multiple but the default 'Latest' feed from user profiles) appears to be RSS 2.0. How can Twitter specify a Atom namespace and then use RSS? This makes parsing feeds a little ambiguous, unless I ignore any specified namespace and just examine the document structure.

Type problem when including tuple

I'm using Visual Studio 2008 with Feature Pack 1. I have a typedef like this typedef std::tr1::tuple<std::string, std::string, int> tileInfo with a function like this const tileInfo& GetTile( int x, int y ) const. In the implementation file the function has the exact same signature (with the added class name qualifier) and I am getting a redefinition: different type modifiers error. It seems to be looking for an int& instead of a tileInfo& When I mouse over the type of the function in the header, i.e. tileInfo& it brings up a little bar saying static const int tileInfo. I think this may be the problem, but I'm not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Replacing Text Nodes With DOM Nodes

Hey, say I have a text node via XPath. How would I replace the text node with a new DOM node? For example, this little patch of code will go through text nodes, and if text matches something, it will replace it with a corresponding image via img element. I'm trying to add little icons to my tabs in WPF but having trouble with how to set up the binding. <TabItem.Header> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Source="{Binding Source=prop:Resources.eye}" /> <Label VerticalAlignment="Center">Header</Label> </StackPanel> </TabItem.Header> The xmlns:prop is set up for the local project's Properties, I am pulling other values from it elsewhere so I know that the namespace works. The markup above compiles fine BUT I don't see the eye image in the tab. Also, is there any way to set this up into a template? I'm fairly new to XAML/WPF and each tab will have its own image...

Crystal Report with mutliple row columns.

I'm not sure if the title properly explains what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to move from using SQL Reporting Services to a Crystal Reports Web App. I've gotten some reports to design properly because they are simple cross-tab reports that require nothing special. I'm running into a little problem of a user matrix report. Here's how the report looks on SQL Reporting Services: group1 group2 group3 username1 first1 last1 title1 X X username2 first2 last2 title2 X X 2 1 1 Normally in VS2008 with a SQL rdl, I would right click on the row and Insert Column. However, i don't see a way to do this in Crystal Reports. I've tried setting up multiple row groups, but that adds mutliple groupings like: group1 Total ... Username Total ... first Total ... last ...

Signal amplitude against time (java)

Hi everyone , I'm racking my brain in order to solve a knotty problem (at least for me) While playing an audio file (using java) I want the signal amplitude to be displayed against time. I mean I'd like to implement a small panel showing a sort of oscilloscope .(SPECTRUM ANALYZER) The audio signal should be viewed in the time domain (vertical axis is amplitude and the horizontal axis is time) Does anyone know how to do it? Is there a good tutorial I can rely on? Since I know vwry little about java , I wish someone could help me . Thanks in advance.
