  • Howto prevent grubpc 2.02 to display with submenu?

    In the past, we could tweak grub-pc so that it simply shows all OSes/options as a simple list, slightly editing /etc/grub.d/10_linux. How can we do that in the 2.02~beta2-9 release supplied with Trusty Tahr 14.04?   • "Error in the Site Data Web Service." when performing crawl

    Installed SharePoint Services v3 (SP2, october 2009 cumulative updates, Language Pack), attached to a content database I had previously (all works). Installed Search server 2008 Express (with language pack) on top of WSS and crawl does not work. However it works for newly created web application + database. Was playing around with accounts, permissions to try get it working. Currently I have WSS_Crawler account with such permissions: Office Search Server runs with WSS_Crawler account Config database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler Content database has read permissions for WSS_Crawler WSS_Crawler is owner of search database. Added WSS_Crawler to SQL server browser user group and administrator Yes, i'v given more permissions than needed, but it doesn't even work with that and i don't know if its permission problem or what. Crawl log says there is Error in the Site Data Web Service., nothing more. There were known issues with a similar error: Error in the Site Data Web Service. (Value does not fall within the expected range.), but this is not the case as thats an old issue and i hope it has been included in SP2... Logs are from olders to newest (descending order). They don't appear to be very helpful.   • Teamcity build agent gives 504 gateway timeout

    I have a new teamcity build agent machine, which when started up tries to connect to the build server and fails. It never shows up in the connected, disconnected or unauthorised agents tabs of the build server web interface. The logs on the build agent show that it fails to connect with a 504 gateway timeout. The build agent is a windows 2008 server VM hosted on Ubuntu 12.04 under Oracle VirtualBox. I have disabled firewalls on both the Windows and Ubuntu machines. Other VMS with similar configuration can connect fine and do not report this error. What can possibly be preventing this connection?

    I have a VPS running Windows Web Server 2008 R2. I'm able to connect using Remote Desktop from my home PC (Windows 7), personal laptop (Windows 7), and work laptop (Windows XP). However, I cannot connect from my work PC (Windows 7). The server is part of a domain but my account is local, so I'm logging in using a username of the form hostname\username. None of the clients are part of a domain. The server uses a self-signed certificate, and connecting from home I get a warning about that, but connecting from work I just get the logon error.

    I have a server running Debian 5.0, and MySQL. Suddendly, MySQL stopped working, and after many attempts to fix it, I decided to reinstall it. I installed MySQL 5.1.63, and when started it goes to safe mode. I made some typing, and when I executed mysql_upgrade as root, it complained: ... Running 'mysql_fix_privilege_tables'...     I have a website running on a Linux computer using Apache. I've employed mod_auth_kerb for single-sign-on Kerberos authentication against a Windows Active Directory server. In order for Kerberos to work correctly, I've created a service account in Active Directory called dummy. I've generated a keytab for the Linux web server using ktpass.exe on the Windows AD server using this command: ktpass /out C:\krb5.keytab /princ HTTP/[email protected] /mapuser [email protected] /crypto RC4-HMAC-NT /ptype KRB5_NT_PRINCIPAL /pass xxxxxxxxx I can successfully get a ticket from the Linux web server using this command: kinit -k -t /path/to/keytab HTTP/[email protected] ... and view the ticket with klist.     I've been struggling for the past couple days to get post-commit email notifications working on my SVN server (running via HTTP with Apache2 on Ubuntu 9.10). SVN commits work fine, but for some reason the hooks are not being properly executed. Here are the configuration settings: - Users access the repo via HTTP with the apache dav_svn module (I created users/passwords via htpasswd in a dav_svn.passwd file). dav_svn.conf: <Location /svn/repos> DAV svn SVNPath /home/svn/repos AuthType Basic AuthName "Subversion Repository" AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/dav_svn.passwd Require valid-user </Location> I created a post-commit hook file that writes a simple message to a file in the repository root: /home/svn/repos/hooks/post-commit: #!/bin/sh REPOS="$1" REV="$2" /bin/echo 'worked' > ${REPOS}/postcommit.log I set the entire repository to be owned by www-data (the apache user), and assigned 755 permissions to the post-commit script when I test the post-commit script using the www-data user in an empty environment, it works: sudo -u www-data env - /home/svn/repos/hooks/post-commit /home/svn/repos 7 But when I commit on a client machine, the commit is successful, but the post-commit script does not seem to be executed. I also tried running a simple script for the pre-commit hook, and I get an error, even with an empty pre-commit script: "Commit failed (details follow): Can't create null stdout for hook '/home/svn/repos/hooks/pre-commit': Permission denied" I did a few searches on Google for this error and I presume that this is an issue with the apache user (www-data) not having adequate permissions, specifically to execute /dev/null. Anyway, I've also tried giving the apache user (www-data) ownership of the entire repository, and edited the apache virtualhost to allow operations on the server root, and I'm still getting permission denied /etc/apache2/sites-available/primarydomain.conf <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!     I just set up mod_jk with my Apache httpd 2.0.52 installation, but now when I try to start Apache, it has a segmentation fault. I've checked that I am using the mod_jk compiled for 2.0.x.. built against the same version I have, in fact. I've also verified that the path I'm giving to LoadModule is correct, and the permissions and the ownership of the file are the same as the rest of the modules'. When I remove the "LoadModule" command for mod_jk from my httpd.conf, there is no segmentation fault. Nothing shows in Apache's error logs. I have tried restarting the server with this module using both service httpd restart and httpd. After some research I found some info : Usually this error means that the SQL Server Service Principal Name (SPN) was not configured, and NTLM was not being used as an authentication mechanism. SQl services are runing under different domain accounts. So, I asked the domain admin to create SPNs for the servers, SQL service accounts for beoth source and destination using name and FQDN. enabled computer name and service accounts for delegation. When I run the following: select * from sys.dm_exec_connections I get the the same error: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON' Any help please?

  • Cannot connect to server via SSH

    I'm running RHEL 6.0, and I accidentally moved the /bin, /boot, /cgroup, console.txt, /data, /dev, /etc to another folder. I think I managed to move these folders back, but now I'm having trouble connecting to the server using SSH, but am able to access the server via VNC. When I tried to connect to the server using a terminal from another server, I get the error ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host I'm currently still connected via SSH to the server (haven't closed the window yet), and am still able to access it normally. But if I try to open a new SSH terminal from my current session, I see /bin/bash: Permission denied If I try to open a new SSH File Transfer window from my current session, I get the error File transfer server could not be started or it exited unexpectedly. Exit value 0 was returned. Most likely the sftp-server is not in the path of the user on the server-side I checked and I have Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server which is the same path as the output of locate sftp-server Also, when I tried to restart sshd, I get the error Couldn't open /dev/null: Permission denied But my /dev/null has the permissions crw-rw-rw- for root,root. How can I resolve this? ETA: Thanks for all your help! I was able to start ssh by running the application directly /usr/sbin/sshd Even though the status of the openssh-daemon is still "stopped".

I want to be able to request password access from any one who is not on the local network subnet. Those on the local subnet should be able to proceed without entering a password. There are many domains in the forest, and it seems that SSO is working for most of them, except one. When I remove the "LoadModule" command for mod_jk from my httpd.conf, there is no segmentation fault. Nothing shows in Apache's error logs. I have tried restarting the server with this module using both service httpd restart and httpd. We're using Exchange 2007 Managed Folders to route e-mails to this repository based on the 'label' attached to the e-mail as set in the Exchange 2007 journaling options. E-mails added to a Managed Folder get sent to SharePoint, they end up in the "Submitted E-mail Records" list of the Records Repository. That's according to plan, but the e-mails are not routed to the respective document library as defined by the label. Instead an error appears in the event viewer for every e-mail listed in the Submitted E-mail Records list, on every interval of the records repository schedule (set to every two minutes for testing purposes): Value cannot be null, parameter name: g. Sending a document from the SharePoint site iself to the Records Repository via the Send To... link works fine, but e-mails get stuck in the list... We have set Document Libraries in the Respository with and without content types (with matching names with the Label and the Record Routing rule set). Any ideas what could be wrong?   • Zero sized tar.gz file found inside a tar.gz file

    My current directory contains a single file like this- $ls -l -rw-r--r-- 1 root staff 8 May 28 09:10 pavan Now, I want to tar and gzip this file like $tar -cvf - * 2>/dev/null |gzip -vf9 > pavan.tar.gz 2>/dev/null (I am aware I am creating the zipped file in the same directory as the original file) When I run the above tar/gzip commands around 20 times, a few times I observe that the final tarred and zipped file pavan.tar.gz file has a ZERO sized pavan.tar.gz file. I am not sure from where is this zero sized file coming into the archive from. Note: I am NOT running tar/gzip commands on an already existing tar.gz file. I always make sure that the directory has only one file before running the commands On googling, as described here, I suspected that the tar.gz being created was also part of the file being archived. But in my case, gzip is the one who's creating the final file and by the time gzip runs, tar should be done tarring. This is happening on AIX but I've used Linux tag too, to draw more attention, as I guess the problem is platform independent.

  • Very slow write performance on Debian 6.0 (AMD64) with DMCRYPT/LVM/RAID1

    I'm seeing very strange performance characteristics on one of my servers. This server is running a simple two-disk software-RAID1 setup with LVM spanning /dev/md0. One of the logical volumes /dev/vg0/secure is encrypted using dmcrypt with LUKS and mounted with the sync and noatimes flag. Writing to that volume is incredibly slow at 1.8 MB/s and the CPU usage stays near 0%. There are 8 crpyto/1-8 processes running (it's a Intel Quadcore CPU). I hope that someone on serverfault has seen this before :-(. uname -a 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Mar 8 00:01:30 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux Interestingly, when I read from the device I get good performance numbers: reading without encryption: $ dd if=/dev/vg0/secure of=/dev/null bs=64k count=100000 100000+0 records in 100000+0 records out 6553600000 bytes (6.6 GB) copied, 68.8951 s, 95.1 MB/s reading with encryption: $ dd if=/dev/mapper/secure of=/dev/null bs=64k count=100000 100000+0 records in 100000+0 records out 6553600000 bytes (6.6 GB) copied, 69.7116 s, 94.0 MB/s However, when I try to write to the device: $ dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=64k 8809+0 records in 8809+0 records out 577306624 bytes (577 MB) copied, 321.861 s, 1.8 MB/s Also, when I read I see CPU usage, when I write, the CPU stays at almost 0% usage.
