On Linux there is this feature where you can press the Alt key and drag a window from anywhere and move it. Is there a similar feature for Mac OS X?
Thanks in advance!
I have a wps file (Microsoft Works), but no Microsoft Works, and no Microsoft Office. Ultimately, I want to get a PDF but happy to convert to an intermediate format if I can. Preferably on OS X if possible, but would use a Windows solution if there is one.
Is there a converter tool I can use for this? Thanks.
Hi
I've installed docutils on my Mac OS system following the docutils instructions.
I've also done:
$ sudo cp tools/buildhtml.py tools/rst2html.py /usr/local/bin
However, if I open a command line and type rst2html, I get 'command not found'.
If I type rst2html.py, there's no problem, so the Python file itself is on my path.
How do I get my system to recognize rst2html as a valid command?
Thanks!
If i go out an buy a bluetooth headset - one typically used for a mobile phone - will i be able to pair and use it with my mac mini (for skype/gtalk conerencing)? Im running OS X 10.5 on a last gen intel mini.
So far I have tried Firefox (latest and greatest) and Chrome (also latest and greatest), and while Chrome runs faster than Firefox over X11 from my CentOS server to my Windows 7 workstation, it's still pretty sluggish.
What other GUI browsers are available for Linux that would [likely] run faster than Chrome?
I've not tried Opera 11, but have had many issues with it under Windows and Mac OS X directly, so am waiting for a new version before going that route.
I'm testing Windows 8 RP. Installed tens of apps from market. What I wanna know is, is there any way to save (or maybe sync with Windows Live account) installed app list, and install these saved applications in future - RTM version of OS?
I mean, somehing like on Apples' devices - icloud features function that I'm talking about. You can install apps on iPhone and sync with iCloud account. Then you can re-install these apps on another device, which signed in with your login into icloud.
I am using Mac OS X Snow Leopard and when I type

By default I am using Bash.
From wiki:
The vital TRIM function is supported by the Linux OS starting with 2.6.33 kernel (available early 2010). However, support amongst various filesystems is still inconsistent or not present. Proper partition alignment is also not carried out by installation software.
So, which filesystem works best for SSD and supports TRIM + partition alignment during install and is available on Ubuntu?
I have no OS installed, and I am trying to use a linux boot disc. However it is not a linux problem....if I just leave the computer on at the no operating system found message, it still turns off.
I thought maybe it was overheating, but I am 90% sure that is not the problem.
What else could cause this?
I should have mentioned, it's a laptop.
Hi,
my OS is Windows Server 2003.
I installed the FTP Service and configure it with the IIS 6.0 Console.
When I deactivate my firewall, all its okay, but when not, I can't get a connection.
Port 21 tcp + udp, port 22 tcp + udp and the whole FTP-Server Application is set as go trouhgt, but don't work. Of course, the FTP ruins on 21.
Any ideas

I really am about to go crazy because nothing worked out. I'm trying to access the Library folder on my OS Lion however all the tutorials related to this subject involves opening the user library however I would like to access the Library where the 'WebServer' folder is located when you enable web-sharing. Whenever I try to access it it gives me the error that I am not allowed to see what's inside and I checked my status, saying that I am an admin but it still occurs. Any help?
A couple of my users are having a problem where they will accept a meeting request, but the accept notice sent to the meeting coordinator says, "Accepted on behalf of X user by Y user." I have triple checked the settings for the permissions, and none of the people accepting on behalf of have access. (Not that they are actually doing the accepting anyways.)
We are currently using an Exchage2003 server with Office 2007. OS wise it's XP pro SP3.
I have a hard time reading fonts on webpages, programs and email. I have dropped the resolution down to bump up the text and noticed an improvement in reading comprehension. I can alt+scroll wheel in browsers to bump up the text but... I'm looking to see what other options I have out there...
If you have any suggestions related to accessibility and displays I'm all ears!
OS: Windows 7
Also have a Mac, OSX Mtn Lion
Hi, I am migrating from Windows to OS X and looking for a good way to browse zip, rar etc. archives. Ideally, I need a plugin for Finder which will allow me to open archives as folders.
Is there one, or any other suitable solution? Preferably free
i'm thinking about converting my OS (ubuntu) to the 64 bit version to use the last bit of memory (4 gb)—ok, it's rather reinstalling …
will this work as expected or are there possible limits given by the mainboard/memory controller/some other component, so i cannot fully utilize my full ram? if so, are there benefits from upgrading anyway?

I see there are thousands of files in my "/tmp" directory (a CentOS machine) and almost all of them are PHP session files.
I'm worried about the possible impact this might have on my system.
Are those files ever deleted either by the OS, Apache or PHP? or I have to take care of it myself?
By default on Mac OS X there is a system-wide notification sound that you can choose. This sound is applied to every application and played whenever the application outputs a beep (for instance, when typing a keyboard shortcut that doesn't work, or during a terminal beep). Is there any way to change what sound this is on a per-application basis?
Specifically, I'm looking to change the sound Terminal.app uses, while every other app uses another sound.

I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens.
In safe mode everything seems fine.
I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS"
I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help
I was able to share my laptop's internet with my smartphone by using this command "netsh wlan start hostednetwork".
But when I installed Avast in my Windows 8 OS, I am able to start the hostednetwork as before and my smartphone also finds the virtual AP but still I can't use internet on the smartphone.
It's like the internet sharing has been disabled by the Antivirus.
How do I tell Avast that its okay to use the hostednetwork?
Like any other Apple product, OS X prides itself on the little details. When, earlier last week, I used my professor's Mac briefly to give a quick project presentation (mine decided to do a chkdsk at the wrong time, heh), I got the distinct feeling some were put intentionally to make the uninitiated look stupid.
What are the small usability details that Windows and Linux users will trip on when their Mac using friend lend them their beloved Mac for some quick web browsing?
I use gpg4win in Mailer and want to use a PGP email.
