    This should probably be pretty simple but my Google-Fu is as yet unable to find an answer. I simply want to create a dropdown list in Access so that upon selection I can perform some action based on the value of the selection. For instance, I have a list of people and I would like to populate the combo box so that their names appear in the list but the "value" is set to their ID (the primary key).

  • How to block a website completely?

    I want to block some sites(e.g. youtube,news sites ), because I have a problem with procrastination and I find these websites affect my productivity very much. I used to block them by adding them to HOSTS file. However, gradually every time I want to take a break, I open the hosts file and comment my block again. Is there any way I can block the websites and cannot (at least a little bit hard, e.g. I have to reboot my pc) unblock them. I have no access to the router or any firewall, besides the ones on my computer. I just want to FORCE myself to work without any chance to procrastinate.

  • Hiding samba share from browse list for unauthorised users

    Hey Guys, I have been trying to setup my samba shares correctly. The setup i was looking for was having a couple of shares available publicly, guest accounts are ok and can browse these shares all ok. I have this setup correctly. The problem comes when setting up a share that only certain users can view, although i have setup a share that will only allow certain users to access. I havent been able to hide this share from guests. I had a look into the browseable = yes option but this hides it from everyone, including the users that have logged in. Any idea on how to tackle this? The setup i have for this private share is follows: [private] comment = private share for certain users path = /media/drive/private create mask = 0777 directory mask = 0777 writable = yes public = no users = admin

  • Large volume at /mnt on AWS instance

    I know this is probably a somewhat 'dumb' question :) I have an AWS (small) instance and I just noticed that there is a ~150gb volume attached at /mnt, is this normal? It kinda freaked me out, I was thinking maybe someone was trying to capture whatever I mount in /mnt, there is the entry in my fstab too (and I found that others have this by googling)... the entry is as follows /dev/xvdb /mnt auto defaults,nobootwait,comment=cloudconfig 0 2 I don't have any volumes this large in my AWS volumes section though. I was just trying to understand this and be sure that someone is not trying to 'get in'... as there are many attempts daily. Thanks

    Hallo rails version 2.3.5 I'm learning rails and I run into a problem. I'm doing some nesting forms from the railscasts tutorials. I changed the text area into a data field to upload photos and everything is working. Now i have to display the uploaded pictures and i simply can't do it. I Tried everything I could find on the net but nothing worked. However I have a website template and I wish that my script is run, and returns the the page which did the action POST and puts any error messages on that page. Example of what is happening: PAGE REQUESTS POST ---- SCRIPT RUNS --- RETURNS ERROR MESSAGE What I want it to do is: PAGE REQUESTS POST --- SCRIPT RUNS ---- GOES TO THE PAGE WHICH REQUESTED POST ---- SHOWS ANY ERROR MESSAGES WHICH THE SCRIPT PICKED OUT.

  • Correct use of a "for...in" loop in javascript?

    Hello everybody, before I ask my question I wanted to let everybody know that I appreciate the fact that there's always somebody out there willing to help, and on my end I'll try to give back to the community as much as I can. Thanks Now, I would like to get some pointers as to how to properly take advantage of the "for...in" loop in JavaScript, I already did some research and tried a couple things but it is still not clear to me how to properly use it. Let's say I have a random number of "select" tags in an HTML form, and I don't require the user to select an option for all of them, they can leave some untouched if they want. However I need to know if they selected none or at least one. The way I'm trying to find out if the user selected any of them is by using the "for...in" loop. For example: var allSelected = $("select option:selected"); var totalSelected = $("select option:selected").length; The first variable produces an array of all the selected options. The second variable tells me how many selected options I have in the form (select tags could be more than one and it changes every time). Now, in order to see if any has been selected I loop through each element (selected option), and retrieve the "value" attribute. The default "option" tag has a value="0", so if any selected option returns a value greater than 0, I know at least one option has been selected, however it does not have to be in order, this is my loop so far: for(var i = 0; i < totalSelected; i++){ var eachOption = $(allSelected[i]).val(); var defaultValue = 0; if(eachOption == defaultValue){ ...redirect to another page }else if(eachOption > defaultValue){ ... I display an alert } } My problem here is that as soon as the "if" matches a 0 value, it sends the user to the next page without testing the rest of the elements in the array, and the user could have selected the second or third options. What I really want to do is check all the elements in the array and then take the next action, in my mind this is how I could do it, but I'm not getting it right: var randomValue = 25; for(randomValue in allSelected){ var found = true; var notFound = false if(found){ display an alert }else{ redirect to next page } } This loop or the logic I'm using are flawed (I'm pretty sure), what I want to do is test all the elements in the array against a single variable and take the next action accordingly. When the user enters their details in, and clicks submit, if validation fails and it returns them to the same view passing back in the view model, it won't default the password to what they entered.     I have a link in my HTML: <a href="/DoSomethingDangerous">do something dangerous</a> Visiting the DoSomethingDangerous link causes a not easily reversable action to occur. So after the link is clicked on I would like a dialog box (eg "Are you sure?" "OK" "Cancel") to be displayed and if the user clicks Cancel the link is not visited and the browser remains at the same page. What is the cleanest technique using either Javascript or jQuery to implement this?
