I've scoured the Internet looking for answers all day, but to no avail. Does anyone have ANY insight into what is causing my problems.

  I have a brand new server server that I am trying to get setup up. This is a 64 bit machine that I can not install "fileinfo" or "memcache". I have uninstalled these and reinstalled them using yum and pecl with no luck. Yum install fine "no error" but then get error when running php. pecl from what I can tell is only installing 32bit. Does not put anything in the lib64 directory.   I have a virtual Windows machine running on kvm. Presently it has a 90GB raw disk image. I would like to clone this VM without having to keep two copies of the 90GB raw disk image around. It seems like a good approach for doing this is to make two new qcow or qcow2 images based on the original. First I converted the raw image to a qcow2 image: qemu-img convert -O qcow2 basewindowsxp.img basewindowsxp.qcow2 Then I tried creating a new image backed by this: qemu-img create -F qcow2 -f qcow2 -b `pwd`/basewindowsxp.qcow2 windowsxp-1.qcow2 Then I used virt-manager to point the original VM at windowsxp-1.qcow2. • Should I partition my main table with 2 millions rows?

  Hi, I am a developer and would need some DBA-advices. We are starting to get performance problem with a MSSQL2005 database. The visible effects of the incidents is mainly CPU-hog on the server but operations reported that it was also draining resources from the SAN (not always). the main source of issues is for sure in some application but I am wondering if we should partition some of the main tables anyway in order to relax the I/O pressure. The base is about 60GB in one file. The main table (order) has 2.1 Million rows with a 215 colones (but none is huge). We have an integer as PK so it should be OK to define a partition function. Will we win something with partitioning? will partition indexes buy us something? • IRC server connecting to another server

  I'm setting up an IRC server using IRC-Hybrid, I want my server to connect to another server, so that people on my server can connect to channels on that other server. I know this can be done, the GIMP IRC, is the same as the GNOME IRC My ircd.conf contains the following: connect { name = "aabstractname"; host = "128.64.2.1; send_password = "somepass"; accept_password = "somepass"; encrypted = no; port = 6667; class = "server"; autoconn = yes; compressed = yes; fakename = "irc.sd.dom.asn.au"; }; So when i run: /etc/init.d/ircd-hybrid restart it should be connecting to 128.64.2.1, but the log on 128.64.2.1, doesn't show anything Do I need entry on the host 128.64.2.1? I can't find any documentation for ircd.conf I'ld really like that documentation so I can check all my settings are right.

• Firefox window disappears

  Now this is odd. At some point in the last half hour, my Firefox window disappeared. I didn't notice, as I was working in another program at the time. No Firefox icon shows up with Alt-Tab, and no Firefox listing shows up under the Applications tab in the task manager. There is a Firefox entry under the Processes tab. Normally, I probably wouldn't have noticed, just opened Firefox up again, but I'm listening to an Internet radio station and the stream never stopped. When I did open a new Firefox window, it showed up in the Task Manager's applications tab. I'm running Windows XP, and my Firefox has the add-ons Adblock Plus, BetterPrivacy, Cert Viewer Plus, DOM Inspector, Firebug, Greasemonkey, Java Quick Starter, Live HTTP headers, Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant, NoScript, WebDeveloper and XPather. The radio station is Slacker; it's never given me any trouble before, and I've been using it for months. I don't think there was anything unusual in my open tabs; just a few static pages at non-sketchy sites like Java APIs, plus GMail and the aforementioned Slacker. Googling brought up a handful of similar-but-not-quite-the-same errors, none of which had useful resolutions. Does anyone know how to bring that window back and/or prevent this from happening again?

• Convert flyout menu to respond onclick vs mouseover

  The code below creates a nifty flyout menu action on a nested list item sequence. The client has called and wants the change the default behavior in which the flyouts are triggered by mouseover, so that you have to click to trigger a flyout. Ideally, I would just like to modify this code so that you click on a small icon (plus/minus) that sits to the right of the menu item if it has child menus. • IntellIJ editor doesn't appear

  I updated my IntellIJ install to the latest version (11.1.4) and now the Editor window doesn't appear. Double-clicking on the file, jump-to-source, nothing happens. No error message, it just doesn't appear. If I double-click on an xml layout file the preview window works, but no Editor window. Have installed and reinstalled; went back to an earlier version and it doesn't work there either. I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Update: Editor works if I create a new project.   Hello, I'm getting following error when using Hibernate in a Java application over my DB2 database. This error occurs with one DB2 database and not with another (I'm almost sure the problem is in DB2 server side configuration), and I didn't found the difference between the two databases. • ColdFusion 9 64bit / MAMP Pro 1.9 64Bit on OSX

  I followed this thread and it's associated links. But there is nothing i can do to get CF9 to work. MAMP Pro now has the 64bit version of apache 2.2. Whenever i start apache i get an error saying it couldn't start and to check the logs. i check the logs and this is what i see. 6/1/10 12:39:12 PM [0x0-0x8d78d7].de.appsolute.mamppro[52702] Cannot load /Applications/ColdFusion9/runtime/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun22.so into server: cannot create object file image or add library I've tried copying the mod_jrun22.so file form the installer, wsconfig.jar and from another developer running standalone apache. all fail. any ideas????

  I've noticed that some Western Digital hard drives are now sporting 4K sectors, that is, the sectors are larger: 4096 bytes vs. the actual de facto standard of 512 bytes. So: What's the big deal with 4K sectors? Is it marketing hype, or a real advantage? Why should somebody building a new PC care, or not, about 4K sectors? Why is this transition taking place now? Why didn't it happen sooner? Are there things to look out for when buying a 4K sector hard drive? e.g. incompatibility? Anything else we should know about 4K sectors?

  I've an x4540 Sun storage server running NexentaStor Enterprise. It's serving NFS over 10GbE CX4 for several VMWare vSphere hosts. There are 30 virtual machines running. For the past few weeks, I've had random crashes spaced 10-14 days apart. This system used to open OpenSolaris and was stable in that arrangement. The crashes trigger the automated system recovery feature on the hardware, forcing a hard system reset. • Filezilla/Puttygen doesn't recognize private key file

  I have generated a key for an Ubuntu Virtual Machine running on Azure Cloud Services http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/manage/linux/how-to-guides/ssh-into-linux/ openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout myPrivateKey.key -out myCert.pem When loading the private key into Filezilla, it asks me to convert the format, however, when converting the key it fails, the same happens with puttygen from linux console, using this: puttygen myPrivateKey.key -o myKey.ppk In both cases I have the following error: puttygen: error loading `myPrivateKey.key': unrecognised key type By the way, this key doesn't have a passphrase. I found an old thread about it, but I'm using 0.6.3 version which is newer than what this thread recommends: http://fixunix.com/ssh/541874-puttygen-unable-import-openssh-key.html I've managed to solve this issue by using another gui client Fugu for Mac, but one of my co-worker uses windows and I still have to figure this out. Since Filezilla is the de-facto ftp client, I thought it would be easier to solve it there. Thanks

  I have a log-file where at the end of a series of lines you can see if this block is relevant now I'm looking for a command like sed to delete de blocks ending with "Content-Length: 0" and beginning with the last "--" before this line. I tried sed -n "/--/,/Content-Length: 0/d" but this takes the first "--" and the first "Content-Length: 0" and deletes it. ex : line 1 "--" line 2 line 3 "Content-Length: 20" line 4 "--" line 5 line 6 "Content-Length: 0" i want to delete line 4,5 and 6 not line 1 to 6 hohw can i do this?

• How to PERMANENTLY disable touchpad tap-to-click on Dell Inspiron/Windows 7

  Hi all - my first time here, so I hope you can help. I've seen a lot of stuff on various forums (including here) about disabling the annoying "tap" function on a laptop touchpad. I learned the hard way not to de-install the driver (as the software suggests), since you then loose the Synaptic tab in the mouse control settings, and with it all means to modify the touchpad settings ... indicentally, if this happens to you, reboot in safe mode and do a restore, and the synaptic tab comes back. Not ideal, I know, but it works. Anyway, I have the most up-to-date drivers, and I can go to the Synaptics tab and can disable the tap-to-click function no problem. However, next time the machine is booted, tap-to-click is back on. It can alsways be disabled, but it's pain having to reset it every time the mchine is powered up. Is there a way to permanently disable it, once and for all? Thanks in advance, Graham
