  • How to copy directories using debugfs?

    The debugfs manpage gives the impression that the command 'rdump . .' will recursively copy all files found on the specified filesystem from the debugfs cwd to the native filesystem's cwd. Instead I seem to receive a syntax error, and no copy is initiated? These are the commands I run: cd /path/to/transfer/destination debugfs /dev/sda1 -R rdump . . My task is to copy the entire contents of a clean yet unmountable USB storage device to its host machine's HD. The host machine does not support the inode size used by the USB device's filesystem (256) and its software is not upgradeable, so my intention was to use debugfs to transfer the files. If anyone has any other suggestions for this task I'd be grateful.

  • CentOS listen to everything on the wire

    I know there's a native command on linux that will output (to stdout) every "event" related to a certain network interface (be it eth0 etc'). Like there's tail -f <file> to listen on file changes.. I just can't find it. I want to see all events, incoming packets, even dropped ones. At lowest level possible. In every protocol (TCP, UDP etc'). I think WireShark is a bit too big for this as I need something very simple just to see the events, it's for testing. What's the command?

Is there a way around this, short of creating my own lookup field control?

  • Tomcat stops responding to JK requests

    Hello. I have a nasty issue with load-balanced Tomcat servers that are hanging up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The system I'm running Tomcat 6.0.26 on HotSpot Server 14.3-b01 (Java 1.6.0_17-b04) on three servers sitting behind another server that acts as load balancer. The load balancer runs Apache (2.2.8-1) + MOD_JK (1.2.25). All of the servers are running Ubuntu 8.04. The Tomcat's have 2 connectors configured: an AJP one, and a HTTP one. The AJP is to be used with the load balancer, while the HTTP is used by the dev team to directly connect to a chosen server (if we have a reason to do so). I have Lambda Probe 1.7b installed on the Tomcat servers to help me diagnose and fix the problem soon to be described. The problem Here's the problem: after about 1 day the application servers are up, JK Status Manager starts reporting status ERR for, say, Tomcat2. It will simply get stuck on this state, and the only fix I've found so far is to ssh the box and restart Tomcat. I must also mention that JK Status Manager takes a lot longer to refresh when there's a Tomcat server in this state. Finally, the "Busy" count of the stuck Tomcat on JK Status Manager is always high, and won't go down per se -- I must restart the Tomcat server, wait, then reset the worker on JK. Analysis Since I have 2 connectors on each Tomcat (AJP and HTTP), I still can connect to the application through the HTTP one. The application works just fine like this, very, very fast. That is perfectly normal, since I'm the only one using this server (as JK stopped delegating requests to this Tomcat). To try to better understand the problem, I've taken a thread dump from a Tomcat which is not responding anymore, and from another one that has been restarted recently (say, 1 hour before). The instance that is responding normally to JK shows most of the TP-ProcessorXXX threads in "Runnable" state, with the following stack trace: java.net.SocketInputStream.socketRead0 ( native code ) java.net.SocketInputStream.read ( SocketInputStream.java:129 ) java.io.BufferedInputStream.fill ( BufferedInputStream.java:218 ) java.io.BufferedInputStream.read1 ( BufferedInputStream.java:258 ) java.io.BufferedInputStream.read ( BufferedInputStream.java:317 ) org.apache.jk.common.ChannelSocket.read ( ChannelSocket.java:621 ) org.apache.jk.common.ChannelSocket.receive ( ChannelSocket.java:559 ) org.apache.jk.common.ChannelSocket.processConnection ( ChannelSocket.java:686 ) org.apache.jk.common.ChannelSocket$SocketConnection.runIt ( ChannelSocket.java:891 ) org.apache.tomcat.util.threads.ThreadPool$ControlRunnable.run ( ThreadPool.java:690 ) java.lang.Thread.run ( Thread.java:619 ) The instance that is stuck show most (all?) of the TP-ProcessorXXX threads in "Waiting" state. These have the following stack trace: java.lang.Object.wait ( native code ) java.lang.Object.wait ( Object.java:485 ) org.apache.tomcat.util.threads.ThreadPool$ControlRunnable.run ( ThreadPool.java:662 ) java.lang.Thread.run ( Thread.java:619 ) I don't know of the internals of Tomcat, but I would infer that the "Waiting" threads are simply threads sitting on a thread pool. So, if they are threads waiting inside of a thread pool, why wouldn't Tomcat put them to work on processing requests from JK? Solution? So, as I've stated before, the only fix I've found is to stop the Tomcat instance, stop the JK worker, wait the latter's busy count slowly go down, start Tomcat again, and enable the JK worker once again. What is causing this problem? How should I further investigate it? What can I do to solve it? Thanks in advance.

    Basically I have my Emacs set up so it has a GUI specific elisp, but when starting it in daemon mode this doesn't evaluate. The code is something like: ;; gui.el (when window-system (progn ;; do stuff here )) I'd like this file (or at least the code within it—perhaps a funtion) to be re-evaluated when I run emacsclient -c on the command line, as I miss out on all my font-lock and color-theme goodness (as I have that stuff set to runonly when a GUI exists).

    I followed the steps here to integrate reporting services with sharepoint in native mode. I made a page in Sharepoint with the report explorer web part and everything is working. The issue is when I create a report with the web based report builder tool, it will show up in the report manager page, but not show up in the report explorer web part on the share point page. New reports I upload using report manager do show up. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm really stuck.

  • Stand-alone Java code formatter/beautifier/pretty printer?

    I'm interested in learning about the available choices of high-quality, stand-alone source code formatters for Java. The formatter must be stand-alone, that is, it must support a "batch" mode that is decoupled from any particular development environment. Ideally it should be independent of any particular operating system as well. So, a built-in formatter for the IDE du jour is of little interest here (unless that IDE supports batch mode formatter invocation, perhaps from the command line). A formatter written in closed-source C/C++ that only runs on, say, Windows is not ideal, but is somewhat interesting. To be clear, a "formatter" (or "beautifier") is not the same as a "style checker." A formatter accepts source code as input, applies styling rules, and produces styled source code that is semantically equivalent to the original source code. A style checker also applies styling rules, but it simply reports rule violations without producing modified source code as output. So the picture looks like this: Formatter (produces modified source code that conforms to styling rules) Read Source Code → Apply Styling Rules → Write Styled Source Code Style Checker (does not produce modified source code) Read Source Code → Apply Styling Rules → Write Rule Violations Further Clarifications Solutions must be highly configurable. I want to be able to specify my own style, not simply select from a canned list. Also, I'm not looking for a general purpose pretty-printer written in Java that can pretty-print many things. I want to style Java code. I'm also not necessarily interested in a grand-unified formatter for many languages. I suppose it might be nice for a solution to have support for languages other than Java, but that is not a requirement. Furthermore, tools that only perform code highlighting are right out. I'm also not interested in a web service. I want a tool that I can run locally. Finally, solutions need not be restricted to open source, public domain, shareware, free software, commercial, or anything else. All forms of licensing are acceptable.

  • Binding Silverlight UserControl custom properties to its' elements

    Hi. I'm trying to make a simple crossword puzzle game in Silverlight 2.0. I'm working on a UserControl-ish component that represents a square in the puzzle. I'm having trouble with binding up my UserControl's properties with its' elements. I've finally (sort of) got it working (may be helpful to some - it took me a few long hours), but wanted to make it more 'elegant'. I've imagined it should have a compartment for the content and a label (in the upper right corner) that optionally contains its' number. The content control probably be a TextBox, while label control could be a TextBlock.   • How do I get the Dell 3007wfphc monitor to do other resolutions?

    I've borrowed a Dell 3007 WFP-HC monitor and it will only do 1280x800 and 2560x1600 resolutions crisply due to its lack of a real scaler. Every other resolution is fuzzy. 1280x800 is pixelated and I doubt my PC can play games at a reasonable frame rate at 2560x1600. Can I get something in between that looks good? I have a GeForce GTX 560 video card and Windows 7. Is it possible to get the GPU to render at a more reasonable resolution, say 1920x1200, and stretch it to the native 2560x1600 to make the monitor happy? I've been poking at the NVIDIA Control Panel but to no effect. Thank you.

  • NullPointerException in ItemizedOverlay.getIndexToDraw

    I have a relatively simple MapActivity that I'm trying to make display a list of "camps" within a given map region. I've created a custom subclass of OverlayItem called CampOverlayItem, a custom ItemizedOverlay called CampsOverlay that returns CampOverlayItems, and of course a MapActivity subclass that populates the map. I'm pulling the overlay data from a database using an AsyncTask as created in my activity. The AsyncTask is triggered from a ViewTreeObserver.OnGlobalLayoutListener attached to the MapView. In the onPostExecute method of the AsyncTask, I create a new instance of my CampsOverlay class and pass it a list of the camps returned from the database (which are fetched in doInBackground). I then call: mapView.getOverlays().add(newOverlay); where newOverlay is the CampsOverlay I just created.     Does anyone know of a method I can use to programmatically detect if a SATA hard drive has been unplugged? Our file system is mounted in READ-ONLY mode when we need to detect the removal of the drive. We noticed the other day that we were able to unplug a hard drive and everything continued to run without a hitch until the next time we attempted to read from a file on disk.

When Selections are made on the checkboxlist, and OK button clicked, I want to return to the RadGrid Edit template, and populate a textbox in the template with the checkbox selected information. Anyone have a clear idea of how I ought to handle this. An example will be greatly appreciated please.
