  • Keep the images downloaded in the listview during scrolling

    I'm developing my first app and have been reading a LOT here. I've been trying to find a solution for the following issue for over a week with no luck. I have an Adapter that extends ArrayAdapter to show image and 3 lines of text in each row. Inside the getView I assign relevant information for the TextViews and use ImageLoader class to download image and assign it to the ImageView. Everything works great! I have 4.5 rows visible on my screen (out of total of 20). When I scroll down for the first time the images continue to download and be assigned in right order to the list. BUT when I scroll back the list looses all the images and start redrawing them again (0.5-1 sec per image) in correct order. From what I've been reading it's the standard list performance but I want to change it. I want that, once the image was downloaded, it will be "sticked" to the list for the whole session of the current window. Just like in Contacts list or in the Market. It is only 20 images (6-9kb each). Hope I managed to explain myself.

Why then i.get(0) does not return an Object? if it was already passed in as such? Furthermore what is the point of using a <?> when then you have to use an helper method using <T>. Would not be better using directly which can be inferred?

I am not able to delete the cache directory since the file list is always null. Is there any other way to clear the application cache?

  • Emulate back button in multi-view TabActivity

    Hi, all I have a TabActivity with several tabs. Each tab corresponds to a specific view, and those views may further switch to other views. For example, one of my tabs displays RSS feed list, after user clicks one of the RSS feed, it will switch to a view displaying a list of articles, and after user clicks one of the titles, a full article view will be displayed. I'm going to add support for "back" button in my application. For instance, in a full article view, after user presses the "back" button, it should switch back to the article list view. And if user presses it the "back" button again, my application should switch back to the feed list view. My idea is to maintain a Stack<View> during navigation, and every time user presses the "back" button, the program will pop a View out of the stack, and set it as the current view. But I would like to know how to set current view in TabHost. Many thanks.

    My question is more of a best practices question on how to implement unowned relationships with Google App Engine. I am using JDO to do my persistence and like recommended in the google docs I'm persisting my list of unowned relationships like so: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION) public class User implements Serializable, UserDetails { ... @Persistent private List<Key> groups; ... } Now I came across my predicament when I went to query that list of objects using they Key object. So when I get my list of group keys in order to actually return a list of Group objects I have to do a look up on that key to get the object. My question is what is the recommended way of doing a unowned look up on a model object? Should I have an instance of the PersistanceManagerFactory on my Model object so I can do a lookup? Should I have an instance of my GroupDAO object on my Model object so I can do a look up? Should I have a Utility to do this type of lookup? I'm new to this so I just want to know which is the best way to do this. Thanks.

The dropdown list contains about 5000 element.   • jQuery AutoComplete with three levels of suggestions?

    I am building a django based application and its time to add the DHTML stuff. One of my fields represent a database field with this format databaseName.tableName.fieldName I would like to have javascript autocompletion in three levels, say once I type part of the database names I get a list of all matching databases, one that is selected I get a list of all tables, and once that is selected I get a list of all fields in that table, all in the same textfield.   • PHP> Sort query results by name while letting each letter be on the top sometimes

    Hi, I'm currently working on a site that will display a list of online shops, Each shop will be stored on my database and I'll be using PHP to select and display them. But since those shops will pay me, I want to let each shop to be on the top of the list sometimes, (for example if the shop name starts with a "Z", they will probably complain for being on the bottom of the list all the time, so I want to keep it fair). So I thought about letting each letter be on the top of the list for an hour, but i have no idea how to do that.. Is that even possible? Thanks in advance!

However, when I put the listItemRendererFunction into a class and change to the following: itemRendererFunction="controller.listItemRendererFunction" in the List component. If I run the application, I get the " Error #1009". Please advice how to fix it.

To cast IList<T> to IEnumerable<T> it is just reference copy: IList<T> l = new List<T>(); IEnumerable<T> e = l; To cast IEnumerable<T> to List<T> we need to iterate each element or to call ToList() method: IEnumerable<T>.ToList(); or may pass IEnumerable<T> to List<T> constructor which doing the same iteration somewhere within its constructor.     Ok so I am very new to html and the web. Right now I am trying to generate list items on the fly and then have them post back to the web server so I know what the person is trying to obtain. This works, however when I do "View Page Source" in chrome, the list contains the original list and not the newly added items. I expected appendTo to change the DOM but clearly this is not what is happening. Why is this? JD

  • Sorting in Lua, counting number of items

    Two quick questions (I hope...) with the following code. The script below checks if a number is prime, and if not, returns all the factors for that number, otherwise it just returns that the number prime. Pay no attention to the zs. stuff in the script, for that is client specific and has no bearing on script functionality. The script itself works almost wonderfully, except for two minor details - the first being the factor list doesn't return itself sorted... that is, for 24, it'd return 1, 2, 12, 3, 8, 4, 6, and 24 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, and 24. I can't print it as a table, so it does need to be returned as a list. If it has to be sorted as a table first THEN turned into a list, I can deal with that. All that matters is the end result being the list. The other detail is that I need to check if there are only two numbers in the list or more. If there are only two numbers, it's a prime (1 and the number). The current way I have it does not work. Is there a way to accomplish this?   • Cached data accessed by reference?

    I am running into an odd problem, and this is the only thing I can think of. I'm storing a list in cache, and I am randomly losing items from my list as users use the site. I have a class that is called that either goes to cache and returns the list from there, or if the cache is over a certain time frame old, it goes to the database and refreshes the cache. So when I pull the data from cache, this is what it looks like.... results = (List<Software>)cache["software"]; And then I return results and do some processing, filter for security, and eventually it winds up on the screen. For each Software record, there can be multiple resources attached to it, and based on how the security goes they may see some, all, or none of the records. So in the security check it will remove some of those resources from the software record. So my question is.... when I return my results list, is it a reference directly to the cache object? So when I remove a resource from the software object, it is really removing from cache as well? If that is the case, is there any way to not return it as a reference? Thanks!

    In an IObservable sequence (in Reactive Extensions for .NET), I'd like to get the value of the previous and current elements so that I can compare them. I found an example online similar to below which accomplishes the task: sequence.Zip(sequence.Skip(1), (prev, cur) => new { Previous = prev, Current = cur }) It works fine except that it evaluates the sequence twice, which I would like to avoid. You can see that it is being evaluated twice with this code: var debugSequence = sequence.Do(item => Debug.WriteLine("Retrieved an element from sequence")); debugSequence.Zip(debugSequence.Skip(1), (prev, cur) => new { Previous = prev, Current = cur }).Subscribe(); The output shows twice as many of the debug lines as there are elements in the sequence. I understand why this happens, but so far I haven't found an alternative that doesn't evaluate the sequence twice. How can I combine the previous and current with only one sequence evaluation?
