    Hi, I've a .net web application which uses Lucene.net for company search functionality. When registered users add a new company,it is saved to database and also gets indexed in Lucene based company search index in real time. When adding company in Lucene index, how do I handle use case of two or more logged-in users posting a new company at the same time?Also, will both these companies get indexed without any file lock, lock time out, etc. related issues? Would appreciate if i could help with code as well. Thanks.

  • Jersey, Spring, Tomcat and Security Annotations

    I need to secure a simple jersey RESTful API in a Tomcat 6.0.24 container. I'd like to keep the authentication with Basic Authentication using the tomcat-users.xml file to define the users and roles (this is for now, like I said its small). Now, for authorization I'd like to be able to use the JSR 250 annotations like @RolesAllowed, @PermitAll, @DenyAll, etc. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to wire this all up together. I really don't want to go spring-security route, since I need something very simple at the current time. Can someone point me in the right direction.

  • Psexec , cmd and batch file

    Hello. I have a batch file named a.bat on a winserver2008 Desktop. That batch file only write the SessionID (from environment variable) to a local eventlog. I want to execute it remotely using cmd (otherwise the SessionName doesn't appear). so I have tried c:\PsTools\psexec.exe \\<Server> -u test2 -p <Password> -i 2 cmd "c:\Users\test-2\Desktop\a" or c:\PsTools\psexec.exe \\<server> -u test2 -p <Password> -i 2 "cmd \"c:\Users\test-2\Desktop\a\"";exit all of these just open a terminal on the remote machine but don't execute the batch.   • Very simple Error handling with NServiceBus

    hey guys, here's a simple scenario NServiceBus Client/Server setup. The "Message" is a custom Class I wrote. The Client sends a request message. The Server receives the message, and the server does this: Bus.Reply(new UserDataResponseMessage { ID = Guid.NewGuid(), Response = users }); Then nothing. The Client never receives a response. Exception: By trawling through the log4net NServiceBus logs I find an exception, and it turns out that my customs class "users" is not marked as Serializable. Ok, how does one got about "throwing" or "handling" that kind of error? NServiceBus seems to promote the idea of not handling errors, but in this scenario its obvious to see some kind of "throw" would have saved a lot of time. How do I handle such exceptions, where do they occur, where do they go?

  • In a Rails unit test, how can I get a User fixture to load its associated Profile?

    In the documentation concerning Fixtures (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/Fixtures.html) they provide the following example of using label references for associations: ### in pirates.yml reginald: name: Reginald the Pirate monkey: george ### in monkeys.yml george: name: George the Monkey pirate: reginald So following their lead, I have a User model that has_one :profile, a Profile model that belongs_to :user, and tried to set up fixtures per their example: ### in users.yml reginald: id: 1 login: reginald ### in profiles.yml reginalds_profile: id: 1 name: Reginald the Pirate user: reginald (Note: since my association is one-way, the User fixture doesn't have a "profile: reginalds_profile" association--putting it in causes an error because the SQL table has no profile_id attribute.) The problem is, in my unit tests everything seems to load correctly, but users(:reginald).profile is always nil. What am I missing?

    Context I am storing a java.util.List inside ehcache. Key(String) --> List<UserDetail> The ordered List contains a Top 10 ranking of my most active users. Problem Concurrent 3rd party clients might be requesting for this list. I have a requirement to be as current as possible with regards to the ranking. Thus if the ranking is changed due the activities of users, the ordered List in the cache must not be left stale for very long. Once I've recalculated a new List, I want to replace the one in cache immediately. Consider a busy scenario whereby multiple concurrent clients are requesting for the ranking; how can I replace the cache item in an fashion such that: Clients can continue to pull a possibly stale snapshot. They should never get a null value. There will only be 1 server thread that writes to the cache.

    I am building a secure app for our exec's... here is my setup. It's a somewhat Macgyver approach, but bear with me :) There are only 10 users, I have a record of each uniqueIdentifier on my backend in a database table. (This is internal only for our users, so I don't believe I am breaking the public user registration rule mentioned in the API docs) Through adhoc distribution I install my app on all 10 devices My app is simply composed of a UIWebView. When the app starts it does a POST to our https site sending the uniqueIdentifier. (Thanks to this answer) The server page that recieves the POST, checks the uniqueIdentifier and if found sets a session cookie that automatically logs them into the site. This way the user doesn't have to enter in their credentials every time. So what do you think, is there a security hole with this? Thanks

    I have a pdf form that uses Acrobat 8 features. The form contains Javascript that interacts with the hosting web page. Some of my Windows users have both Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader installed, and need Adobe Acrobat to be the default handler for pdf files. The users with Adobe Acrobat 7 are unable to use the form, even though they might have Acrobat Reader 8 or 9 installed.   • Macports sudo expands ~ to /var/root in python

    This might be a bit dev-heavy for the site... but here goes. I installed the macports version of sudo. All is well, except for one thing. Using python 2.6 to expand ~ to the user's home directory results in a different output than the version of sudo that comes with Snow Leopard. For example consider the following python code: #expand_home_dir.py import os os.path.expanduser('~') Below are 3 different calls of the code listed above.   • Chrome Facebook Connect Window Resize

    I am experiencing a weird issue in Google Chrome for Mac OS X (10.6). I am using the JS Facebook Connect library and FB.Connect.streamPublish to share a story on a users profile. If the user is already logged in to Facebook prior to coming to the share page on my site, there's no problem - the window opens as an absolutely positioned div above the rest of my site. If the user is not logged in, though, a pop-up window opens that asks the user to log in. This works perfectly in Firefox, but when using Chrome, when the Facebook login window opens, it starts gradually resizing itself until it becomes a narrow column - when manually resizing the window, it gradually reverts back to the narrow column. I googled this problem and found that some users are experiencing the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know anything about this? I'm getting the following error (with MAILTO from crontab): rake aborted! no such file to load -- bundler /Users/Mendel/Sites/misnooit/Rakefile:4 (See full trace by running task with --trace) I'm using rvm with: ruby: ruby 1.9.1p378 rails: Rails 3.0.0.beta $GEM_HOME: /Users/Mendel/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.1-p378 bundler: bundler (0.9.11) The error is pretty self explanatory but I'm not able to fix it.. For my site, I need to be able to save and access additional user properties such as age and gender. I have been playing around with the built in .NET Login tools but I don't understand how to keep track of the additional properties (age, gender...) I could store all the users information in my own database but how do I correlate the users data in my DB to the usernames in the member database that is automatically created?

  • LINQ: Enhancing Distinct With The PredicateEqualityComparer

    Today I was writing a LINQ query and I needed to select distinct values based on a comparison criteria. Fortunately, LINQ’s Distinct method allows an equality comparer to be supplied, but, unfortunately, sometimes, this means having to write custom equality comparer. Because I was going to need more than one equality comparer for this set of tools I was building, I decided to build a generic equality comparer that would just take a custom predicate. Something like this: public class PredicateEqualityComparer<T> : EqualityComparer<T> { private Func<T, T, bool> predicate; public PredicateEqualityComparer(Func<T, T, bool> predicate) : base() { this.predicate = predicate; } public override bool Equals(T x, T y) { if (x != null) { return ((y != null) && this.predicate(x, y)); } if (y != null) { return false; } return true; } public override int GetHashCode(T obj) { if (obj == null) { return 0; } return obj.GetHashCode(); } } Now I can write code like this: .Distinct(new PredicateEqualityComparer<Item>((x, y) => x.Field == y.Field)) But I felt that I’d lost all conciseness and expressiveness of LINQ and it doesn’t support anonymous types. So I came up with another Distinct extension method: public static IEnumerable<TSource> Distinct<TSource>(this IEnumerable<TSource> source, Func<TSource, TSource, bool> predicate) { return source.Distinct(new PredicateEqualityComparer<TSource>(predicate)); } And the query is now written like this: .Distinct((x, y) => x.Field == y.Field) Looks a lot better, doesn’t it?

    I've been working on a project for school that takes functions from a class file and turns them into object/classes. The assignment is all about object oriented programming in scheme. My problem however is that my code doesn't format right. The output it gives me whenever I give it a file to pass in wraps the methods of the class in a list, making it so that the class never really gets declared.   • Data in custom attribute not returned in UserProfile object in MOSS

    I've created two new custom attributes in the UserProfile. When the service we wrote returns data about a specific user by using the UserProfile object, sometimes the data isn't returned, even though if we look at the user in SSP it look populated. Some users work; this is the first user we set up with data. I'm not sure if sometime in the meantime after setting up the first user and testing, if there's something we ran and need to run again. How can I get all the users to get their data returned in a call to their UserProfile?

    Hi, Here is a tricky question, how do you get the like count of a facebook object such as an album or a photo? I know that facebook has a fql table called link_stat that allow you to get the like count for an external url, but it does not seem to work if the object is within facebook. If you access the likes via the opengraph api on a particular object, it will only return a maximum of 4 users that like the object, even though there maybe a few thousand users that like it. Any clues?

  • Why does display:table-cell not center content without display:table?

    I'm looking for the most efficient (or elegant) way to vertically and horizontally center content of variable height. I've come up with this: http://cssdeck.com/t/2veysdkg/16, which uses css tables to vertically center the main content. My demands for writing this particular piece of code were: Must be able to center variable and fixed width content vertically and horizontally Centered content must be inside the normal document flow (so no overlapping) Sticky footer and normal header of 100% width As few hacks, ugly code or non-semantic html as possible I didn't care about support for IE6, IE7 (I'll use a different stylesheet for them) The weird thing is that the demands above are only met when the header and footer are set to table-row, and the body-tag to display:table. Which is weird because as I understand it the css will generate anonymous table elements when parent table elements are missing. So table-cell should work without all the surrounding elements, but yet I've not been able to make it work. If it were up to me I would prefer to not mess with the display mode for the body tag, and leave the header and footer on display:block. But I've not been able to make it work. Does anyone understand why this doesn't work?
