• Problem reading from two separate InputStreams

  I'm building a Yammer client for Android in Scala and have encountered the following issue. The request is made with the DefaultHttpClient, but this is supposedly thread safe. What am I missing? If anything needs to be clarified just ask :) Cheers, Emil H

• Confused with an ASP.NET/WCF WSDL Parsing Error

  I have a WCF Web Service that my ASP.NET app uses. It has been working fine for quite some time. I just added in a Dev Express Grid (and the Dev Express DLLs) and a new page that uses them and now I am getting parsing errors on the WSDL. But the weird part is that it works fine on my machine but fails on the web server machine. (Both are connecting to the same web services WSDL.) • Need assistance with Kohana 3 and catch all route turning into a 404 error

  Based on this documentation, I've implemented a catch all route which routes to an error page. Here is the last route in my bootstrap.php Route::set('default', '<path>', array('path' => '.+')) ->defaults(array( 'controller' => 'errors', 'action' => '404', )); However I keep getting this exception thrown when I try and go to a non existent page Kohana_Exception [ 0 ]: Required route parameter not passed: path If I make the <path> segment optional (i.e. wrap it in parenthesis) then it just seems to load the home route, which is... Route::set('home', '') ->defaults(array( 'controller' => 'home', 'action' => 'index', )); The home route is defined first. • Can i use a different parser for Axis 1.4?

  The current SAX parser takes a lot of time (20 minutes) and heap memory(around 400mb) to deserialize the response coming from the soap server as per the logs. Our response XMLs are of average size 4 mb.   Hi, Hit an interesting problem today when trying to upload an image file < 2MB using dojo.io.iframe. I've got very similar code in my application that uploads word/pdf documents and that doesn't error, but for some reason this does. Any ideas or pointers on what I should try to get this to work without errors? Oh I'm using php and Zend framework for the backend if that has anything to do with it, but I doubt it as it's not even hitting the server before it fails. Many thanks, Grant

• RESTful idempotence

  I'm designing a RESTful web service utilizing ROA(Resource oriented architecture). I'm trying to work out an efficient way to guarantee idempotence for PUT requests that create new resources in cases that the server designates the resource key. From my understanding, the traditional approach is to create a type of transaction resource such as /CREATE_PERSON. The the client-server interaction for creating a new person resource would be in two parts: Step 1: Get unique transaction id for creating the new PERSON resource::: **Client request:** GET /CREATE_PERSON **Server response:** 200 OK transaction-id:"as8yfasiob" Step 2: Create the new person resource in a request guaranteed to be unique by using the transaction id::: **Client request** PUT /CREATE_PERSON/{transaction_id} first_name="Big bubba" **Server response** 201 Created // (If the request is a duplicate, it would send this PersonKey="398u4nsdf" // same response without creating a new resource. It // would perhaps send an error response if the was used // on a transaction id non-duplicate request, but I have // control over the client, so I can guarantee that this // won't happen) The problem that I see with this approach is that it requires sending two requests to the server in order to do to single operation of creating a new PERSON resource. This creates a performance issues increasing the chance that the user will be waiting around for the client to complete their request. I've been trying to hash out ideas for eliminating the first step such as pre-sending transaction-id's with each request, but most of my ideas have other issues or involve sacrificing the statelessness of the application. Is there a way to do this?

• How does GMail implement Comet?

  With the help of HttpWatch, I tried to figure out how GMail implement Comet. I Login in GMail with two account, one in IE and the other in Firefox. Chatting in GTalk in GMail with some magic words like "WASSUP". Then, I logoff both GMail accounts, filter any http content without "WASSUP" string. The result shows which HTTP request is the streaming channel. (Note: I have to logoff. Otherwise, never-ending HTTP would not show content in HttpWatch.) The result is interesting. The URL for stream channel is like: https://mail/channel/bind?VER=8&at=xn3j33vcvk39lkfq..... There is no surprise that GMail do Comet in IE with IFRAME. The Http content starts with " Originally, I guessed that GMail do Comet in Firefox with multipart XmlHttpRequest. To my surprise, the response header doesn't have "multipart/x-mixed-replace" header. The response headers are as below: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate Pragma: no-cache Expires: Fri, 01 Jan 1990 00:00:00 GMT Date: Sat, 20 Mar 2010 01:52:39 GMT X-Frame-Options: ALLOWALL Transfer-Encoding: chunked X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff Server: GSE X-XSS-Protection: 0 Unfortunately, the HttpWatch doesn't tell whether a HTTP request is from XmlHttpRequest or not. The content is not HTML but JSON. It looks like a response for XHR, but that would not work for Comet without multipart/x-mixed-replace, right? Is there any way else to figure out how GMail implement Comet? Thanks.

  I am trying to do this same thing here but with Ruby: Access Authenticated GAE Client with Python. Any ideas how to retrieve authenticated content from GAE with Ruby? I am using the Ruby GData Gem to access everything in Google Docs and such and it's making life very easy, but now I'd like to access things on GAE that require admin access, programmatically, and it doesn't support that.   Hi there, I am using RestWebservice for few basic operations , like creating/searching. The request xml looks something like this <customer> <name/> ..... </customer> For a successful operation I return the same customer XML with extra fields populated in it(eg. systemId etc which we blank in the request) . with Response.Status=2000 For an unsuccessful operation i return something like this with different error codes . e.g Response.Status = 422(Unprocessable entity) Response.Status= 500(Internal Server Error) and few others.. <errors> <error> An exception occurred while creating the customer</error> <error> blah argument is not valid.</error> </errors> Now i am not sure , whether this is the correct way of sending the errors to the client. Maybe it should be present in the header of the response. I will really appreciate any help. Thanks!

  The following is a function from zend_mail_protocol_imap. i read that to search emails, I would want to override it using zend_mail_storage_imap (which is what I'm using now to grab email from gmail). I copy and pasted the following function into zend_mail_storage_imap, but I'm having issues with the params. I can't find documentation on what to use for the array $params. I initially thought it was the search term before reading it more thoroughly. I'm out of ideas. But I'm not clear what exactly to do?
