    I don't ask for recommendation! (just wanted to say that; anyway it doesn't matter now as the question is closed) I've seen some advertisements about home alarms that notifies me that something is happening in my house. None of them mentioned programmability (with real programming language like e.g C, assembler, whatever). As a programmer I'd like to have a possibility to add some behaviour, that is not part of the alarm itself. This might be: take snapshots of all cameras in a house and send it to some email send email, twitter message, skype message to some predefined account send email to a police (silly, I know) start turning the lights on and off (scary, right?) etc. (would be veeery challenging with assembler, I know; but lets suppose I can use some more high level language) I don't expect that there is a alarm system capable of this stuff, that's why I'm looking for a programmable module. Question: Is it even possible? Is it good idea (my program could crash and cause instability of the system).

  • How do Opera's keyboard shortcut settings work?

    Firefox 4 beta is starting to freeze up the way Firefox 3 used to on my machine, and I want a browser that'll play gifs at full speed, so on a Mac my only other choice seems to be Opera. There are just two issues I have with it right now: one, the scrolling is weird compared to every other Mac application, but I can get used to that if there's no way to fix it. Two, cmd-1 through cmd-9 activate the "speed dial" bookmarks instead of selecting tabs 1-9, like in Firefox and Chrome. I can disable those shortcuts easily enough, so I don't keep accidentally loading a different page when I instinctively try to do that, but in an ideal world I could remap those commands to do what I want. The keyboard shortcut editor is weird: There seems to be a scrappy little language for associating actions with commands. It has some limited autocompletion when you type stuff in, and I couldn't find a "select specific tab" action, but some of the existing commands are complicated enough that I'd be surprised if there's not a way to do it. Is there documentation for this language anywhere? Clicking "help" just brings me to this page, which is not very helpful.

    When using EWS Managed API to send Email via Exchange Server 2007. I noticed that MAPI clients like MS Outlook display all custom headers. But when I use POP3/IMAP clients like MS Outlook Express. I have noticed that these custom headers do not display in the message opened from MS Outlook Express. Is there a setting in Exchange Server 2007 that we can set to make these custom headers propagate and be received by a POP/IMAP client? Also why do custom headers in example below display up in lower case in MAPI clients like MS Outlook? But surprisingly if we use SMTPClient class to send email then these headers display as sent with Case Sensitive letters. eg. Header.     i'm trying to get custom language and message for nginx error page but keep url on browser.. not success for eg: i go to url : xaluan.com/aaa/bbb.html on the time server down.. nginx will show error 502. with the same url but custom message as my language. test 1. I created a custom page at /usr/local/nginx/html/205.html as following config but it show on web site when error is default nginx error at domain.com/50.html ( the content of webpage not same as i created) error_page 502 /502.html; location = /502.html { root /usr/local/nginx/html; } test 2.   • Change the Default Date setting in Word 2010

    I am using Word 2010 and Windows 7. You know how when you start typing a date in Word it will automatically suggest what it thinks you want? Like if I start typing “6/29”, a little grey bubble will display “6/29/13 (Press ENTER to Insert)”. How do I get it so the bubble will display the year in a 4 digit format, such as "6/29/2013 (Press Enter to Insert)"? The below picture is how it looks when typing a date into Word. I have already gone to the Date & Time option under the Insert menu and the date format that I want is already selected. I think this is only for using quickparts anyway, so the date automatically updates when you open a document. The Region and Language settings under the Control Panel are correct as well. I thought at one point I found it somewhere under options, but I am sure I looked through everything many times and I can’t find it. I posted this exact question at the Microsoft website and someone replied: Go to the Windows Control Panel and click on Clock, Language and Region and then on Change the date, time, or number format and then modify the Short date format so that it is what you want to be used. So please don't suggest this again, because in my question I did say that I already tried this and it doesn't work, at least not for Word, in this situation. Thanks.

    We (our company) are planning to deploy Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Desktop Recovery 2011 Desktop Edition to our 3000 - 4000 workstations (Windows7 32 and 64) with a few 100s with Windows XP 32/64 Bit. I have read the implementation guide for SEP and have read tech-notes for Desktop Recovery 2011. Our team have planned to deploy this as follows : 1 x dedicated SQL 2008R2 for Symantec Endpoint Protection (Instead of using the Embedded Database) 1 x Dedicated SQL 2008R2 for Symantec Desktop Recovery 2011 (Instead of using the Embedded Database) 1 x Dedicated W2K8 R2 Box for the SEPM (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager - Mgmt. APP) 1 x Dedicated W2K8 R2 Box for the Symantec Desktop Recovery 2011 Management Application Agent Deployment : As per Symantec Documentation for both of the above, an agent can be pushed via the Mgmt. Application (provided no firewalls are blocking ports required etc. - we have Windows firewall disabled already). Above is the initial plan we have for 3000 - 4000 client workstation (Windows) Now my Questions :-) a) If we had these users distributed amongst two sites with AD DC / GC in each site, How would I restrict SEPM and Desktop Mgmt. solution to only check for users in their respective site ? b) At present all users are under one building but we are going to move some dept. to a new location (with dedicated connectivity), How would we control which SEPM / MGMT Server is responsible for which site ? c) What Hardware would you recommend as a Server spec for the SQL server 16GB RAM, Dual XEON? d) What Hardware would you recommend as a Server spec for the MGMT Servers 16GB RAM each with DUAL xeon and sas disks? e) Also, how do you or would you recommend to protect these 4 servers (2 x SQL and 2 x MGMT Servers)? f) How would you recommend to store backups for these desktops? We do have a SAN and a NAS in our environment and we do have one spare DAS (Dell MD3000). If you have anything to add / correct - that will be really helpful before diving into the actual implementation phase.   • Where in the stack is Software Restriction Policies implemented?

    I am a big fan of Software Restriction Policies for Microsoft Windows and was recently updating our settings for this. I became curious as to where Microsoft implemented this technology in the stack. I can imagine a very naive implementation being in Windows Explorer where when you double click on an exe or other blocked file type, that Explorer would check against the policy. I call this naive because obviously this wouldn't protect against someone typing something in a CMD window. Or worse, Adobe Reader running an external application. On the other hand, I can imagine that software restriction policies could be implemented deep in the stack almost at the metal. In this case, the low level loader would load into memory the questionable file, but mark the memory in the memory manager as non-executable data. I'm pretty sure that Microsoft did not do the most naive implementation, because if I block Java using a path block, Internet Explorer will crash if it attempts to load Java. Which is what I want. But I'm not sure how deep in the stack it's implemented and any insight would be appreciated.

  • Verify client certificate CN in Tomcat(APR)

    I'm running a tomcat installation with the APR libraries installed (with the OpenSSL HTTPS stack that comes with it). What I'm trying to do is to lock a specific HTTPS connector down to users of a specific certificate. Adding client certificate verification is no issue, but I can't get it to validate against a specific Common name only. I was perhaps a bit naïve and thought the mod_ssl attribute SSLRequire typically used in Apache Httpd would work, but that property is not recognized by the Tomcat implementation. (http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-7.0-doc/config/http.html#SSL%20Support points to some mod_ssl docs, but the Tomcat implementation does not seem to cover all aspects of mod_ssl). I can get this to work by using the Java version of the connector instead of APR (losing some performance) and just add a trust store with that one certificate in it. However, using openssl without the SSLRequire expressions, I'm not sure how to do this with Tomcat7 (on Windows if that matters). <Connector protocol="HTTP/1.1" port="443" maxThreads="150" scheme="https" secure="true" SSLEnabled="true" SSLCertificateFile="mycert.pem" SSLCertificateKeyFile="privkey.pem" SSLCACertificateFile="CABundle.pem" SSLVerifyClient="require" SSLProtocol="TLSv1" SSLRequire="(%{SSL_CLIENT_S_DN_CN} eq &quot;host.example.com&quot;)"/> Can you suggest a way to make this work using Tomcat/APR/OpenSSL?
